ABILITIES
From birth, she has grown into a set of wings that now have a full wingspan of twelve feet. Her paternal grandmotherâs wings grew to twenty feet at full size and she hopes the same for herself. These wings allow her to fly at accelerated speed until she cannot breathe, and is slower while carrying someone. They are somewhat difficult to hide on earth, causing her to confine herself to a wheelchair and wrap them under a jacket or sweater, which is extremely uncomfortable for extended periods.
WING BLADES
The outside of her wings are incredibly sharp and long enough for her to fight with her wings. As long as she keeps them maintained, they can be used to protect her against enemies and form offensive attacks. Sheâs had to let them dull on earth as they would cut through her disguises.
FEATHER PROJECTION
The outside layer of her wings can also detach so she can send them toward her enemies. She has a limited amount that will regenerate when she is on Aurum, but they have not been on Earth.
HOMING EFFECT
Any object she chooses will follow the target she chooses until it hits. She has to see the target, but it will always hit unless it is destroyed by the target. On earth, this ability has a time limit, but as long as it stays within that short time frame, it will still hit.
APPEARANCE
Harlow shares the beauty of the Sera sisters. Ginger waves kept long and well maintained, shining when she flew through the air. Tightly braided into a crown on her head when she took to the skies, her appearance always had a regal flair. Her face was soft, not malicious in any way, especially with her light grey eyes. Her freckles give her a youthful look, so no one expected what became of her once she grew older. The one thing that never changed was the flight emblem in between her shoulder blades.
Her wings resemble those of a Harris Hawk, orange inside feathers spread out to brown, stronger ones. All the women in her family have wings, usually in bright tones because justice is never found in darkness. Hers are not as beautiful as her family, but they are far stronger. When folded they run down to the floor behind her, but can be folded further to be hidden under a thick trench coat. She only found that out on Earth.
In the Flight District, certified law enforcement wear uniforms while on duty. She didnât wear much else as she spent most of her days on duty. She wore dresses only when her mother forced them upon her, usually in athletic gear to train her wings and flight skills. But wings were not normal on Earth, and she relocated quickly to a place where she would have to wear a trench coat. When that wasnât enough, she confined herself to a wheelchair to deter suspicion. It has been demeaning but it is all for her cause.
PERSONALITY
She was in charge of her own destiny. She did not believe that she would be stuck at the bottom with her family and did everything she could to rise rank. Thatâs how Harlowe has always been, a woman of drive and a disciple of justice. And a sister and daughter just as strongly, her family was her biggest motivation. Her biggest weakness, from an enemy standpoint.
The attack on her sisters broke her heart. She changed very quickly, and the rebels did not help the break in her mind either. The warmth she used to share, the compassion for others caught in the middle of injustice, it didnât matter anymore. Her drive was disguised as justice, but it was revenge. Whatever she needed to do to avenge her familyâs honor, what little they used to have, would be done. She pursued those she thought guilty without any regard to what the truth may be.
There are moments where she mourns the warmth she used to have. All the moments of laughter and joy with her sisters, the happiness that came when true justice prevailed. All were taken from her, and she mourns. Sheâs lost a part of herself with the wings of her sisters, and once sheâs taken the time to pull herself together, she tucks the mourning away and is driven towards her new goal to take out everyone that caused her mourning.
HISTORY
Harlow was different from her sisters. They were desperate to marry up with their beautiful wings and a chance to become higher status women. It was hard to blame them, their mother had wanted it for all of them after marrying under her status and losing everything. Wren and Sage wanted the status given to them, and Harlow was willing to work every minute to take the status as her own.
Interestingly enough, the first betrothal came for Harlow. Once sheâd made a name for her herself, the Hawk who always punished those who were guilty, she found Alfred. Before he was her ever so charming rival she had to best, then he became the man she wanted to spend the rest of her days with. They would have everything they ever wanted and would seek justice together.
That girl disappeared without a word from the man she loved most. When the rebellion made its way through her district, they took away every feather from the wings of her sisters. She wasnât there to see who it was, only told that the Light district was coming for everyone else that they thought was unworthy. And that was not just. The royal family was to blame for the poor manâs murder in the Thunder district, and the pain her family would be in for rest of their lives.
She couldnât see that the rebels were playing her for her abilities, and if she did, would she care? Blinded by revenge, they trained her into the rebel they needed. Hours of torture endurance, days of aerial training, anything they could give her so she could make sure the royal family would get exactly what theyâve been inflicting on others.
It didnât go according to plan. There was a boy with the youngest prince when she found him. He was an easy target, considering he hardly ever left the palace. The boy offered his own place on the ship for her to let the prince go, and she accepted mainly to down the ship once she was inside and she could play everything as an accident. The moment she got inside, everyone was separated, and the boy who protected the prince was the last one she saw before she was sent straight to Earth.
She landed in a land far colder than her own, and took up a disguise to keep these foreign creatures from seeing her wings or recognizing her as not one of their own. And she continued to train, waiting for the moment the rebellion would come back to help her complete her mission. When the meteor came, she knew she would find the prince there. But she found so much more.
