- He was a witness to the murder of his entire family, and was almost killed himself.
- During his time as a ronin he has killed many innocents
|Personality|
Kosuke is deceptively quiet, observing and evaluating those around him rather than engaging in conversation. His years on the run and exiled from his family's lands have hardened his attitude, and his thoughts are totally centered on having his revenge. He is slow to trust, and very quick to anger. Despite the fact that he has cast all thought of honour and glory aside in his quest for revenge, he takes his reputation very seriously. He will take on any work that brings him closer to his goal, be it for money or men. However, he would happily betray an employer if he was offered a better deal.
Past
|History|
Takeda Kosuke was born as the only son to an impoverished, but prestigious, noble family. His parents had three daughters, but no boys had survived infancy. As the sole heir, he was raised with considerable care and attention, learning all the arts involved with his status and noble destiny. Hating the coddling of his parents, he trained hard, and lost as many times as he won on the practice field, often sporting cracked bones and black bruises. Throughout his younger years he was happy, though he noticed his father's struggles to maintain their lands and castle.
Tragedy struck when his mother died when he was still young. Afterwards, his father grew very weak and sickly, often leaving Kosuke to oversee his lands. Rising to the challenge, Kosuke pushed aside grasping servants, eager to exploit his young years and lack of experience, relying on an old and trusted retainer for advice and help. Facing difficulty at every turn and his father's declining health, Kosuke witnessed the inevitable decline of his family's lands. People deserted the castle to find work elsewhere, and only a few diehard samurai remained to protect their lord.
On a cold night Kosuke's uncle, Takeda Hayate, assaulted their castle. With only a few loyal samurai to defend it the castle quickly fell, fires springing up as Hayate's men threw lit lanterns into store rooms. Standing alongside his family's men, Kosuke fought back, but it was hopeless. Captured and dragged into the main hall, Kosuke was forced to witness his uncle Hayate kill his father and sisters. What remained of the child in Kosuke died that day, all thoughts of honour replaced with a single, bloody-minded revenge. Locked in a dungeon he overheard that he was to be sold to a demon in exchange for power, so Kosuke slit the throat of a guard and leapt from the walls of the castle. Able to finally escape Kosuke wandered the wilds of the land, hunting for food and doing any work he could. As he grew, he trained himself, occasionally going back to lands his uncle stole to kill and burn. Now he seeks any way he can to return to power, or die in the attempt.
