The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

0 INK

A child with a scarred face yearns for love… and goes about finding it in entirely the wrong way.

Introduction

Note: You should know a bit about London, and all of England, in the 1800s if you are joining this RP. I expect accuracy. Your character names should also reflect the time period and place.
________________________________________________

This Rp was inspired by this Vocaloid song, Sung by the Gakupoid. Please watch it before applying to this RP. Though the story may not end in the same way, this is the driving force behind the plot... combined with a bit too much Phantom of the Opera over the weekend.

The Plot

Image

They say he was an ugly man once, the Lord upon the Hill, the Duke of Poisons They say that he lived as a beggar in the streets, his mangled face hidden behind a mask to keep from frightening people away. He hated himself, and used to make himself uglier every night as he tried to tear away the horrible scars which replaced a human face. Of course, no one knows if it is true. No one really believes it. All that anyone knows it that the Lord Evelyn is no longer either ugly or poor.

Duke Evelyn Marcelle. Three years ago, he moved into the manor atop Baisley Hill, accompanied by only a single servant. A silent girl, hardly of age, who drifts behind Evelyn like a harmless shadow. From the day he arrived, Evelyn took the nearby city of London by storm. Women fawn after his dashing looks, his serious expression, his polite generosity. Men fume over how easily he can make the ladies believe that he is a gentleman. There is not a single soul in London who can not put his face to his name.

But beneath that welcoming smile, Evelyn is a madman, with venom in his blood. Driven insane by the desire to be loved, Evelyn made a deal with the devil, bartering his soul for his beautiful face. Now, women who see him fall instantly in love. There is no one immune to his beauty and his charm. A harmless enough amusement, or so one would think. But his beauty is a double-edged sword. The thing he must do to pay for his beauty is terrible indeed.

When a girl comes to him who is beautiful and sweet, who captures his heart even as he enchants hers, he must bring her down into the depths of his mansion to join his growing harem. There he must lock her away among her fellows. There he keeps them, pets to his every whim, raising them like cattle, to be slaughtered when his demon hungers for their flesh.

Evelyn enjoys the hunt, enjoys the catch. But slowly, very slowly, he is beginning to tire of the results. His mindless harem does not please him nearly so much as he had thought it would, for he does not truly understand the depth of love. In his naiveté he believed that beauty and magic would make the women love him, but it is not him that they love.

It is the demon that lives inside of him.

Now, Evelyn is trapped within a deadly cycle. He can not bear to be without his beauty, and he can not bear to be without the illusion of love which he has built, and so he can not stop. But he wants to stop. He wants true love, not the poorly-crafted mimic that his demon crafts within his heart. He wants someone to see him as he truly is, and love him for it.

And perhaps, if someone can latch on to that slight doubt, if someone can find a way to turn him from his demon, then Evelyn’s spell will be broken. His harem… freed.

The Rules

1. No god-modding/power-play. Don’t worry, Evelyn has his weaknesses too, and it is possible, if difficult, to defeat your demon guard. Non of my characters are immortal, so neither should yours be.
2. All posts must be at least 3 good paragraphs long. This is a highly literate RP, and a great deal of description and thought is expected from you.
3. Use proper English. I expect good grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and use of tenses.
4. Start with one character. You may be allowed to add more as the harem grows, but start with one.
5. If you have an idea for a significant role, suggest it to me over PM.
6. Keep this RP PG-16. Yes, romance is possible. Yes, Evelyn may take a girl to his bed, probably quite often. No, we don’t want to hear the details.
7. Your character can not resist Evelyn. So long as you can see his face, or hear his voice, you are under his spell. You can still think about hating him, but you feel love for him, and you must respond accordingly.
8. Occasionally the demon will want to feed. I will try not to kill too many of you, and only those of you with multiple characters. If you want to volunteer a character, so that you can replace it with another, please feel free.
9. Obviously Evelyn’s entertainments can have certain repercussions. If he takes your character to bed with him, I will play it by chance: I will role a die to determine whether or not your character is now with child. If you are willing to have your character carry his child, fine. If not, I’m sure the demon would be glad to help you end the pregnancy.
10. Be tolerant of one another. Sexism, racism, homophobia, etc. will not be tolerated.

The Manor

The Baisley Manor is a place of many layers. The upper floors are a private place, never seen by the public, for the use of the Duke Marcelle alone. Here he sleeps and eats and reads, when he is alone. Here he laments his decision to bond with the demon, or revels in it. Here is where he goes to do the things that he wants no one else, not even his enchanted harem, to see.

The floors below are what the nobles see when they attend his parties. Vast dining halls and ballrooms, gardens and courtyards and halls full of beautiful tapestry. Below that is the basement, where the kitchen and storage cellars are. Most manors end there. Baisely does not.

Through a trap door in the kitchen floor, down a long and unlit hallways, down a flight of spiral stairs and through a pair of arching doors, the harem waits. Here lies a vast hall, a sort of throne room, empty but for a single dark chair, cushioned in crimson velvet. Here, Evelyn sits, surrounded by the fawning eyes and stroking hands of the women he has locked away. Here, Evelyn pretends that what he has no is real: that what he has now is satisfying.

Characters

Since this RP is anime-based, you must use an anime picture for your character. You may use any anime picture you want, there are no limits. After all, my dear Evelyn has purple hair himself…

Also, you must remember that your characters are human. There will be no angels or demons in this RP, apart from the one that lives in Evelyn. Nor will there be any nekos, as much as I adore them.

Remember to keep the names to the time period. For the prostitute and the servant boy, there is the option of having a character from another country. If you wish to have a foreign character, you need to look into the status of the country you want your character to be from. If they did not have an immigrant population in England in the 1800s, you will be rejected. To make your job easier, at least for some of you, India and China were immigrating, while there was not a significant Japanese population.

The night was warm and clear, stars glistening overhead, a full moon to light the yard for the nobles who walked amongst the plants in the garden full of humming crickets. The drinks were sweet, the food was plenty, and the dancing was glorious, as with masked faces they did not have to worry about ruining their reputations. The party was wild and full of scandalous chatter, as many of the parties on Baisley Hill were. That was why everyone went to them, why everyone loved the Duke so much.

But in this, the fifth hour of the party, two hours before the moon reached its greatest height and the night became morning, the Duke Evelyn Marcelle had left his party, with a beautiful young women on his arm. He led her away with promises of a special surprise, of wonders she had never before encountered. All unnecessary words: she would have gone anywhere with him, so long as his demon willed it.

Now he led her down an unlit hall, beneath the trap door in the kitchen floor, beneath the storage cellars and the gardens. Ahead, the great pair of double doors that led to his harem swung open, un-propelled by human hands. Within, he could see the dark chair which was the only furnishing…
And the shifting shapes of the girls he had collected over the past couple of years.

“Ladies,” he called quietly as he drew the new girl through into the room. “I brought a new friend for you.”

(aSadisticDoll is the new girl.)

Anna Burlington.
Why Did This Happen?
Her hand slid along the dark brick wall; edging it's way to find a crack. Though, the only cracks she did find with in the brick walls was filled with the wild flowers and weeds; it was so thick that not even the brilliant light of the moon shone through. She closed her fist, digging her nails into the wall to create the screetching noise before silencing them as they reached her palm; now digging her nails into the bottom of her right hand palm. She was frustrated, aggravated and most of all, felt pathetic and defeaten. Fore, how can a man be as beautiful as him? How can his looks be so irristiable and desireable yet taunting and sadistic? It made no sense and just thinking about it made her feel even more defeated and pathetic; which in turns, makes her even more frustrated. She leaned against the wall as she started to stare off in some strange direction in the darkness, still thinking how a man can become so addictive like a drug.

Though, her train of thought was disrupted as the door opened; allowing what little light from the hallways flood onto the floor. It was clear enough to see that he was there; even seeing his outline made her go crazy mad. No. Not now... please don't disobey me and listen to me for once! No matter how much or how loud she pleaded in her thoughts, her body did not listen to her fore her heart was too loud for her to acknowledge any thoughts now. She lifted her body up off of the wall and walked near him as he started to introduce his new 'beauty' to the 'collection.' Stop it! Don't go any further! Please! Her feet would not stop, no matter how much her mind wanted her too. Please...st...p... As she got even more close to him, her thoughts became too vague and quiet for her to even hear them anymore, and soon, those thoughts where replaced with those of love. She stopped only three feet infront of him; looking like a curious toddler. A light rose blush ran along her fair skin before she even had the chance to say anything. Just as always; he is as beautiful as the stars above us.

"How generous you are, Master Evelyn; bringing us a new friend. Now we can lo-" Her voice was cut off as her blush deepened into a blood red blush; too embarressed to say the word, the 'Love' word. She lowered her head so the shadows would cover her bottom half of her own face; trying to hide the blush that had formed along her face. Her eyes glanced up towards the girl he was holding, and because of his charm and beauty, it was very obvious that she couldn't hide just how jealous Anna was; fore, she wanted to be the only one in his life. Just as the new girl in front of her, Anna was also new, either coming in yesterday, or two days ago; she couldn't remember because everytime she gained her senses, her frustration drowned out everything else. Her eyes skimmed back upwards; looking at him as she found him even more beautiful and attractive.

"Ah, how wonderful!" Alice gazed with adoration at Evelyn Marcelle's face. Her heart fluttered each time he spoke, and each time he moved she couldn't help inching towards him to close the space between them. Despite the overwhelming feelings she had for him, she could feel a twinge of some other feeling deep in her mind. Pushing her thoughts away, she beamed up at him once again, before remembering he was showing her something. With some trouble she tore her gaze from him to the room.

"You have... Women!" She giggled slightly, looking at them all. Returning her gaze to Evelyn, she almost missed the girl approach them.
"How generous you are, Master Evelyn; bringing us a new friend. Now we can lo-" Blaise's eyes narrowed, taking in the new girl. She seemed desperate... How disgraceful! It seems shes been cast aside for now... Along with all these other girls. Her soft sweet smile grew to look something of insanity at that thought, but she quickly regained her sweet look.

Glancing back the way they had come, she wished he would take her back to the party. However, if this was the way she could be with him, then she would stay here with these ladies. Perhaps that girl isn't as disgraceful as I thought... She could be a friend. Grinning, she fingered the fabric of Evelyn's shirt. "Tell me... You will be staying here with us, right? Or do I get the pleasure of getting to know these lovely women by myself..."

"Why did I have to be kidnapped?...Why me?...."

Being there for only a few days, darkness consumed Alice inside everyday that passed, excruciatingly, slow. By then, her mind was whirling, madly, with vicious thoughts, driving her to the brink of nearly going out of her mind! She quietly paced her space in the room and tried her best to calm herself down, not caring of the other females who looked at her with spiteful eyes. Possibly, they were envious that she was more attractive and well sought out by the Duke or it was competition, they all competing to have him for themselves or it was both. Alice really didn't know the reason why they hated her so much but she really didn't care as her thoughts, horridly negative, ran a mile a second. The white silk lace gown, that she wore the night of her capture and the only item she had on, was now tattered, torn, and tarnished from much damage; it was delicate enough to fall apart if manhandled roughly- that being Evelyn the only man who treated her, sensuously, like that. Alice's, wiry-like, white blonde silk tresses fell repeatedly in her face causing her to push it behind her ears aggravated. But that wasn't the only factor that frustrated her. The thought of being caged like a wild beast exceeded over everything that annoyed her! Alice felt like she was treated like a common criminal who had no pass or let out for parole.

She finally halted herself from much pacing and deep thought and leaned herself against a broken cracked wall, sinking lower and lower until her bottom touched the filthy dusty floor. Alice palmed her face depressingly, feeling like the lowest thing that her heavenly father created. That Duke who tricked her! Wooing her into his "tender loving" trap! If she had just left her shawl behind, never to retrieve it, she wouldn't have been in this grave predicament. She knew he had hidden agendas but could never know what they were; she was too spellbound, by his hypnotic piercing eyes, to think clearly and straight. The door finally open wide; light from the hallway flooded the shadowy dim chamber, immensely. All of the females stirred and groaned, feeling startled by the sudden intruder. It was the Duke, himself, but this time he brought a "newcomer", "Ladies, I brought a new friend for you...", his smooth, languid, voice made. All of the girls, now entranced helplessly, happily went over to him, greeting the new girl, joyfully, while confessing their undying love for him. Alice's lavender platinum swirled iris pupils dilated wide, slowly drifting back into her trance.

"No...not...again...", she thought, helplessly, knowing she was soon to be controlled and manipulated by her puppet-master's mental ministrations. She must...re..sis..t....It was too late as she was won over, triumphantly, by her most handsome captor. Now under his spell, a small smile formed across Alice's, pink, dewy, lips as she drew, with the sway of her voluptuous hips, near to her only one, her lover, who she just had to have for herself! The competition in the room was growing again, each lady vying for Evelyn's attention and affections. Alice walked to the right side of Evelyn and put her delicate hand on his broad left shoulder, running her slender french manicured fingers lightly up and down it, admiring his gorgeous masculinity. "Oh my, a newcomer!....It is a pleasure to meet you....", she complied sweetly to the new female with a piercing light lavender stare, eying her languorously up and down.

Decadent masks of grandeur, slovenly smeared lipstick on necks and sloshing alcoholic drinks, elements of a hellish night for a lone servant who was trying to do too many things at once. Oliver, or as his new alias was ‘Olive’, was the only one in the room besides the other servant girl who had no mask on. Instead the mask-less servant donned a maid dress with an annoyingly short skirt and low neckline, don’t even get him started on the itchy lace. The blonde hair of his wig fell in tresses to his shoulder blades; a blue flower pinned in his hair gave him an aroma that blocked out the wafted scent of grandiose perfume about the room, though it still assaulted his nose whenever he passed a noble lady (or worse a man).

Thankfully by the witching hour, an hour when people were supposed to be asleep, the party was at a point where everyone was either drunk enough to not be coherent or were going home. It was at this hour that Oliver was scheduled to meet up with Sir D’Ivore, to whom he was aiding in the location of his sister Mirelle D’Ivore. If only he could find the damn bastard! Oliver shoved a stumbling aristocrat off of him for the umpteenth time, not caring about getting in trouble as he was both fed up, frustrated, and aware that they would not remember a single thing, let alone his face, by the next day. He looked to his left, standing on tip toes, staring into the crowd, before being pulled sharply behind a pillar, his first reaction was to yell, but the gloved hand covering his mouth prevented him from doing so.

“Hush, it is just I.” The hand let go, and the voice was all too familiar, Sir D’Ivore. “Sir…it’s a damn relief t’see yah.” He sighed nervously, chuckling. “I have told you countless times Oliver, call me Alexander.” As Oliver turned around Alexander kept his hands on his shoulders, looking him up and down, and then letting out a smirk, “Nice dress sweetheart, you trying to seduce me?” Alexander had actually already gotten quite the good look at Oliver from the shadows; he had been watching him most of the night actually. Of course the Aristocrat was no so silly as to arrive at the very beginning of the party, he had come maybe two hours ago, and had abstained from the food and drink. This watching had been slightly more than duty, as really Oliver did appear tantalizingly barely appropriate. He had taken full joy of the view.

“Stop yer teasin Sir, you know it ain’t right fer me to call yah that.” Alexander would have loved to see Oliver’s cheeks turn rosy, but of course Oliver was not easily embarrassed, part of his charm.

“I see you are holding up nicely, and I swear the parties are becoming grander. I wasn’t able to find anything short of rumors from those contacts you sent me to.” He straightened out the flower in Oliver’s hair, listening as the young man gave him his report.

“Just as ay feared then, there really is no trace of ‘er.” If she had been kidnapped by someone from his world, there would have been some sort of wind about it somewhere, some sort of ransom note maybe. But the only thing that made any sort of sense was something completely unheard of. An aristocrat stealing another, if this wasn’t done by the poor then the rich were the only other suspects, and the only lead in such suspicion was the Duke of Baisley, Evelyn Marcelle. Rumor was that he had a harem of stolen beautiful girls. But that was only among the ones the craziest of people. Not much of a lead, but they had to take a chance, a month with her gone already left them with no other choice. “As fer this place…it….is strange. I haven’t been able to find anything yet, but then again, I be busy with the workload too….” Oliver gasped as Alexander suddenly pulled him into a tight hug. There was a momentary pause before either one of them spoke, Oliver was in a bit of a shock.

“I am sorry Oliver, I feel bad leaving you hear. And the house is so empty without Mirelle, and now without you.”

“I’ll get’er back Sir.” Alexander let Oliver go and backed up, “The Duke has moved out into the hall.” He pointed, Oliver whirled around to catch eye of his master’s coat tails, “I’ll…” He looked back, but Alexander was already gone. If wasn’t quick about it Lord Marcelle would be gone too. He rounded and sped towards the hallway, jumping over a few things that he wasn’t entirely sure weren’t people. He silently sped down the dark hallway, his eyes adjusting quite well. He rounded a corner, wasn’t this the way to the kitchen? A woman’s giggle, and within another minute he lost his target.

He stood in the kitchen, dumbfounded, his heart pounding from more than just the running; it was also the rushing fear. “DAMNIT!” He seethed, ripping the blue flower from his hair and throwing it down, stomping on it in frustration. He paced around for about five minutes, coming up with a plan B. He’d stake out here, find a place to hide and wait for any sign of the master. Oliver set about crawling into the space of a shelf in the pantry, moving countless jars toe make room for his thin frame.

Unfortunately he fell asleep within the half hour.

Evelyn smiled slightly, releasing his new pet's hand as the Duchess and Anna came to cling to him. His smile was twisted, sadistic, but gentle and undeniably kind. He raised his hand, running his fingers through Anna's indigo hair. His hand moved over to the Duchess Alice, his eyes considering... and then he touched her cheek gently and returned his attentions to Anna.

"If you would all be so kind as to take care of our new Alice," he murmured, pushing the new girl forwards, away from him. "I would like to bring Anna up with me, tonight."
As though to illustrate his words, Evelyn's hand moved possessively down to clasp Anna's.

Faith crept quietly through the kitchen, peering nervously around. She was absolutely certain she had heard someone moving around down here, but she was also certain that her beloved Master had already descended through the trap door in the kitchen... so she was frightened. Had one of the partying nobles wandered down here by mistake? What if they discovered her Master's secret?!

Trembling with fear, the little girl shook a bit of bright red hair out of her face and peered around.
"Hello?" she called weakly into the kitchen. "I-is anyone there?"

Anna Burlington.
Even though he did not touch her, Anna had goosebumps all over her entire body; and knowing that she had goosebumps made her blush even more than she was already. She watched him touch the cheek of Duchess Alice, and then turned to look at Anna, herself; her eyes met him only for a second before she shot them down, too embarrassed to even look at him much. "If you would all be so kind as to take care of our new Alice," Anna nodded slightly, listening to his words, but kept her head off to the right, trying to calm down a bit. "I would like to bring Anna up with me, tonight." Her eyes widen as he said those words; it was unbelievable! So unbelievable, that her heart started to race and thump so loudly, she thought she could hear the echos and was even more afraid that Evelyn was going to hear it. She felt his big, rough hands clasps onto her's, her head turning upwards which allowed him to see her bright blood red flustered face.

"Uh, Um... M-Master Evelyn..." Unlike her normal self, she was very easy to read, fore, her face said it all; it said that she did not want to reject the offer. His spell was working well on Anna, and there was nothing she could do about it right now. No! Do-... Does this mean he loves me? Her thoughts started to change dramatically as her hands started to sweat a little and the worst part of it all, she was afraid that he could feel her thumping of her heart through her hand.

#, as written by Arachne
Eleanor lay motionless for several moments, listening to her own even breathing. The women around her were being restless again. Was it the distant music coming from the late hour feast that kept them from sleeping? She sighed softly, lifting herself up onto her elbows. Oh, how much she wished to see one of these events occur. It was almost possible to imagine the setting - a carefully picked theme, women wearing dresses of all the colors available, smiling seductively behind their feathered masks. A fine gentleman would come up to an equally fine lady, and ask her to dance. Flattered, she would look at her other lady friends for approval, before nodding a 'yes' to the awaiting male. Eleanor smiled.

The heavy doors swung open, allowing a faint light to spread over the dark wooden floors they slept on. Eleanor looked up immediately, her heart thudding in an irregular pattern. There he was, standing significantly with the light forming an angelic halo around his muscular profile. She couldn't help but feel proud. He was so beautiful, so perfect, and she belonged to him. It was only when he introduced the girl next to him, that she was able to force her eyes with difficulty away from his face. She couldn't quite make out the features of the young lady beside him, but Eleanor already knew that the girl was bound to be attractive.

Eleanor saw two women arose and walk up to the Duke, both seeking his love and attention. Jealousy soured through her petite body, taking her breath away. 'This is becoming too much to bare.' She thought desperately, watching the Duke's tenderness towards them with an awe expression upon her face. Feeling betrayed, she stood up and made her way to the Duke, her anger evaporating instantly as she looked up at him. Oh, how beautiful is this man in front of her... “My Duke...” She whispered in her husky voice, failing miserably in her attempt to sound confident. “I missed you...” She swallowed loudly, trying her outermost best to suppress the urge to touch his cheek.

"You don't know how much you make me feel....Evelyn...."

Evelyn's soft slender fingers caressed Alice's cheek causing her to shudder with much delight. Oh...He has touched her! The feeling traveling all over her body till it reached it's extremities. She immediately swooned in the after affects, feeling flushed and red in her porcelain delicate face. In the back of her mind, Alice pondered over the millionth time, thinking why he was making her feel the way a person felt after having a pleasantly sensual "rapture".

Alice closed her eyes shut, crossing her slender arms against her fully blossomed bosom, trying to suppress the urge to "take" Evelyn right there in front of all the girls. "You're so beautiful....mmmm", she moaned restlessly in her mind. One girl, who looked at Alice with envious, vengeful eyes, whispered into Alice's ear, "Don't even think about falling in love with him because he's mine....", she quietly threaten Alice, her dark eyes filled with much venom.

Alice ignored the young girl's challenge, thinking of the girl as an airhead. "Some nerve....That incompetent girl!", Alice thought insultingly, rolling her lavender orbs. "If you would all be so kind as to take care of our new Alice", Evelyn spoke again, his luscious rich voice crooning the ladies. They all sighed and nodded in unison, having naughty thoughts enter their minds, dreamily.

"I would like to bring Anna up with me, tonight", he then added making all of the girls frown and "Aw" at Evelyn's choice of selection. Alice's heart felt stabbed with a long piercing knife. It sliced her deeply knowing Evelyn was going to satisfy Anna tonight. Satisfying any desire she wished and pleased....Alice gave a light scowl to Anna as one girl pushed Alice out of the way, "My turn to touch him...", the girl hissed at Alice, making Alice glare at her with much detest.

Alice secretly made sure to give the abominable girl her wrath when Evelyn left. She didn't want to go out of character and act like a commoner around him; not wanting him to see her unladylike persona. Oh! But she made sure to give that girl a piece of her mind!

Oliver's snooze was dully interrupted by a meek voice that would have never woken anyone else up. But if you're someone like Oliver, no better than a street monger, than you nlearn to sleep light no matter what, in fact the method was quite involuntary. His emerald eyes fluttered open to the unwelcome noise of footsteps, she didn't dare shift for fear of making noise. He was quite drowsy now however, even too drowsy to curse himself for falling asleep. He hoped he hadn't over-slept and missed anything, was it morning by now? The cracks in the cabinet wood offered no sunlight, so the answer was that is was still night, which meant he couldn't have been asleep for more than an hour at the absolute most.

Now, as for who that voice belonged to, it was an obvious answer that it belonged to Faith, the other maid he worked with in the mansion. She was a curious girl, very quiet and hadn't much to say at all, also very petite and cute. Oliver was always trying to make small talk or crack jokes to get a smile, it didn't work all that often, but it also didn't seem like his comments were unwelcome. The most that he knew about her was that she didn't like men at all, became very nervous around the male guests, so Oliver stepped in whenever he could, poor thing was as gentle as a rabbit probably. But as much as he was accustomed to Faith and accustomed to acting sweeter than he really was, he couldn't stop himself from thinking, 'No one is here you little twat, go the hell away!.' very loudly to himself. Her presence was very unwelcome at the moment, and he was getting more agitated the longer she roamed the kitchen.

He slowly moved his arm to grab a hold of the cabinet handle, as if holding it shut would render him more invisible than he already was.

Evelyn smiled pleasantly as more of the girls came to gather around him. He greeted them with soft words and gentle caresses, acknowledging each in turn. Each of them was a prize, a special thing chosen either by Evelyn's tastes... or by his demon's. Sometimes they even shared a taste. But that was rare. Girls that Evelyn thought were truly beautiful were few and far between. They had to be perfect to catch his eye, and not in appearance. Beauty was alright, but it was the demon who hunted for that. Evelyn valued the unique. The personality of a girl. And each of these flowers had their own delicate personality. Each one of them Evelyn had come to learn, and love.
Perhaps that was what was truly enchanting about this life his demon had shown him. There really were more rewards for the predator than for the prey.

Shaking his hair back behind his shoulders, banishing his thoughts, he reached behind him and gripped Anna's hand in his own.
"Be gentle with each other, my doves," he told them quietly. "I will return in a few hours. Perhaps then I will tell you a story...?"
He gave them all a gentle, almost carnivorous smile, before turning and leading Anna back out of the room.

He led her, unfaltering, up the unlit hall and the stairs, to the trap door in the kitchen floor. Faith, standing in the kitchen, whirled around at the soft creak as the door opened. She gasped quietly, dropping to her knees as Evelyn emerged from the floor, leading Anna along behind. A look of amusement crossed his face when he saw her lying on the ground before him.

"Faith," he murmured to the little servant girl. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be seeing to our guests?"

"Y-yes, Master!" Faith gasped. "It's just... I thought I saw someone come in here, and-"

"What?!" Evelyn's voice became a quiet hiss at that. He released Anna's hand suddenly, turning to gaze around the kitchen. His expression held nothing more than irritation, but his eyes... his eyes were furious. "Who is here?" he demanded. "Show yourselves!"

Not for the first time in his life, Evelyn was glad that that was all it took. No one could disobey him when his demon shown; whether in lust or in anger; through his brilliant silver eyes.

Oliver was definitely glad he kept his mouth shut, Faith wasn't snooping and before moments became too long a noise caused him to direct his attention to a trap door that had he had missed. His eyes narrowed as he stared at the figures coming forth from the chasm. So that was a trap door huh, straight out of some secret castle story? He'd hit the jackpot; this trap door was incriminating to say the least. Oliver noted the girl, hoping it was the one he was looking for. But it wasn’t, it was someone he didn't recognize, but a different girl from the one he went down with from the party. This girl had dark tresses, like Mirelle, but a cold continence, that was all he could make out in the short moments he had to observe her before his hand suddenly jutted out involuntarily, like a convulsion that he wasn’t even aware of. Now he was widely exposed hiding in a cabinet right in full view of the man he was quite certain stole away the miss Mirelle D’Ivore that he searched for. “Oh bloody bullocks…” He stated quite loudly, more out of shock at his own actions than anything.

What the hell was that reaction exactly?! Normally when someone demanded he come out of a hiding spot he’d stay wherever the hell he was and make damn sure to not noticed. Now he was an idiot who was left mouth open, eyes wide, and looking guilty of snooping. Wait, but what did the other’s see? Now was the time for damage control, his earlier abrupt statement had hardly sounded the way it needed to.

“Ay..ay only mean tis a shame ay fell ‘sleep in such an odd place.” Oliver, or rather Olive the sweet maid, scrambled from the cupboard and daintily leapt down onto the kitchen floor, folding her hands in front of the apron of the uncomfortably showy maid outfit both she and Faith had to wear.

“Ay was only bein’ lazy sire…’pologies.” Olive finished, his eyes flickering to the crushed flower that the Duke was standing next to, the flower Oliver had ripped out of his hair and stomped on in frustration, if the Duke took notice of it he would be curious as to why is was stomped on in such a manner. But maybe Oliver was over-analyzing, he needed to just stay calm, he was only a maid. Maids weren’t important enough to fuss over….also not important enough to kill and dump off the side of the streetohshitjesuschrist.

Evelyn gave Olive a small, chilly smile that was undeniably... false. At least half false. There was still that slight affection there, the feeling which had first driven him to accept the young maid as a second addition to his work force. He had been perfectly fine with Faith alone, but Evelyn genuinely liked this trash-talking, low-country young woman. He liked the fire in her eye and the spark in her spirit, and the fact that though she, like the others, fawned over Evelyn...
There was still a little bit of rebellion there in the background.

Nevertheless, Olive had seen his secret. That was not easily forgiven.

"Faith," Evelyn murmured, and the little girl faced him with a squeak of shock and undeniable fear. "Keep an eve on Olive for me, won't you? I'm sure we wouldn't want the girl to become lonely. Or fall asleep in such an odd place again."

"Y-yes, Master!" Faith answered weakly, dipping into a half-fainting bow. Evelyn nodded calmly and turned back to Anna.

"Shall we retreat to my rooms, sweet Ana?" he asked quietly.

#, as written by Arachne
Eleanor swallowed as she watched the Duke and his new mistress disappear. A tear ran silently down her dusty cheek, making yet another trial of evidence that her emotions have taken over again. Why did she long for a man who only saw them, her, as an occasional useful collection? Like a diary, only being written in when the desire to release your emotions right then and there was becoming unbearable. Didn't he feel even a little bit guilty for ruining so many girls' lives?

Eleanor sat down in her corner, hiding her tear-stained face behind her dirty hands. She didn't have much to live for, anyway. So why feel as if she's lost something? Did she miss the brothel, her friends, the little fame which came to her? She wanted to wash her hair, dress in something colourful again. She peered down through her short and thin fingers at her few belongings. Thank goodness she bought them with her when she ran away from the only place she ever called home. Most of these women were dressed in highly fashionable ball gowns, which were now torn and bad smelling.

'I can't stand this atmosphere.' She thought, and stood up. “Ladies.” She said in a croaked voice, and cleared it quickly to sound more confident. “Ladies.” She said again, sounding more mature. “I...we can't sit here forever. I know you all love the Duke...” Her voice broke off again. “But...I mean, I...” She closed her eyes, taken another deep breath. “You all need to go back to your families, you should all...pursue your futures, dreams. I know you won't want to listen, but...I...please, I beg you all. Can't we stand together and find a way out of this... nightmare?”

Her knees were weak, so she leaned against the wall, seeking support. She asked them to leave the Duke. Would she want to leave the Duke? A pain seared through her chest, causing tears to well in her green eyes. She hated this place, she hated her situation, she hated being stationary. She hated the Duke. But did she really? She thought of his smile, his eyes, his touch. A small smile appeared on her face, her eyes closed. It was impossible not to feel slightly aroused when she thought of his large hands exploring her petite figure. Shocked at herself, she forced her eyes open, her uneven breathing audible.

“Please...” She whispered. “I love him so much...I know you all do...but please...this is poison to our hearts and souls...we...we shall end up killing each other for the love we'll never...” Her heart screamed in agony. “...never get from him...he...can't...l-love...” With a loud sob she slit down onto the floor, holding herself while she cried shamelessly.

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

At this point don't bother waiting... I'm afraid everyone might be waiting for everyone else.

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

I was waiting for the others to post before I post again. I don't want to post too often or it will seem like I'm not giving others a chance to catch up and put their posts up.

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

-.- Because no one seems to want to post.

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

I'm replying right now, oh the intense drama!

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

This plot is getting more interesting as we progress....I can't wait to the part when the girls have to interact with one another. I hope a cat fight won't break out. <__< lol

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

It's totally fine! I'll be willing to share the name, happily. :D

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

It can't be the new Alice? ..... YES, I'm safe!!!! YAY!!
Hehe, I didn't notice the Alice thing either until just now. Sorry other Alice ^-^;

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

Uh oh! He's going to shack up with one of the females....I'm getting nervous here (sweats uncontrollably o__O)

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

*Gasps!* That man whore!
Lol, just kidding. lol.((: I just realized that too...
Though, I could understand, Alice is a pretty name. Haha. Anyways... I don't mind, though, if any of the others characters wants to do it with Evelyn, then they can; personally I don't care what he does with Anna(as long as he doesn't kill her... She would be so pissed at him that she would haunt Evelyn FOREVER! *evil-laughs*) lol.((:

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

Well, then. Evelyn will just have to come up with nicknames for the both of you~ *evil laugh*

Oh, and Evelyn plans on taking one of the girls up to bed with him tonight. Any volunteers? No,it can't be the new Alice.

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

I've noticed lol! I didn't know someone else used that name too. O__O

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

this is going to be interesting... there are two Alices... I feel totally incompetent for not noticing before...

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

I am finally finished! I hope my entrance meets your expectations.((: lol.

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

I just want to make it clear to everyone: Your characters are physically and mentally incapable of disobeying Evelyn, and are also driven by a desire that is impossible to resist to show him affection. You fawn over him while you are in his presence, and curse him behind his back, when you regain your senses in the absence of his face and voice.

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

My character doesn't seem good enough, unfortunately, so I'll understand if I'm not chosen for the part lol.

But I tried to put my hardest work into it, though. I'll send it in now....>__>

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

@whisper- GURL You done with your character so it don't matter no more XP didn't mean to come down on you, just wanted to be fair.

And ok everscale, in the video it was different and that was why I got the idea to make the servant boy the way I did. Is there any other way for you nto change your mind at all? It would tinker with my plans otherwise. But I can work it in.

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

Ooookay... >.> I went away so I have no idea what just happened.

I'll go review your character profiles.

@That One Guy - Evelyn's powers apply to anyone he wants to love him, be they male or female. That being said, it is perfectly reasonable for your character's genuine feelings to be of love. If he truly loves Evelyn, then that would overrule the spell and give him the ability to, should he wish it, disobey.
This reply does not apply to everyone. Not everyone may be truly in love with Evelyn. The RP is just boring that way...

Re: [OOC] The Madness of the Duke Marcelle

Crap... sorry. -.-;
Yah, sorry, my bad. I will edit that, your right That One Guy. Sorry everyone.
Gosh, don't I feel dumb. lol. -.-;;

EDIT--
I am also done with my character.
