Introduction

Long before the first cities were raised from the earth, long before the ancient halls of the Dwarven kings were carved from the great mountains, long before the first elves emerged from their forest sanctuaries, there existed a civilization of immortals. Possessing vast knowledge, infinite power, and incomparable wealth, these immortals ruled over a massive, expansive empire and an ever diverse populace. Under their rule, in this illustrious empire, the land flourished, and the magic contained within the world flowed freely, ensuring a happy and comfortable life to all residents of the empire.

But as time passed, the immortals became weary and feared that their time was soon to come. Believing that the masses could not be trusted with the land’s magic, the immortals began to drain it entirely from the earth and hoarded it away deep within their vaults. Without the magic, the empire soon began to topple, and the land withered away, leaving ghost towns, lifeless deserts, and decaying forests to cover the expanse of the former proud kingdom. Panic at the seemingly-approaching apocalypse plunged the lands into chaos and disorder, and soon even the original name of the land faded into nothingness …

No one knows where the Life Walkers came from. Some say that they came from the heavens, others claim they came from lands beyond our mental reaches. All that is really known of them is that when there was no life, they came and replenished it to their own design. They covered the lands with lush and exotic flora and plentiful fauna of all shapes and sizes. Finally they created the nine intelligent races to thrive and rule the lands that were created for them. And as swiftly and as suddenly as they had appeared, the Life Walkers vanished, only leaving their legacy and their creations.

In the present day, this land has adopted a much different identity since the immortals’ rule--a land by the name of Valderia. Thick clouds of smoke hang in the sky, generated by the numerous machines and mechs that carry people to and from their jobs, or aid in industry and the home. Cities spring up as new veins of valuable resources are discovered across the land, and technology is advancing rather remarkably. Every person born with each passing day carries a small quantity of magic inside his or her body, which, later in life, shall be used by that person for the sake of what he or she cares for and wants to protect in daily life.

However, in more recent years, a rather bizarre theory of “ley lines” has popped up, claiming all the important cities and such are connected by “paths” etched into the earth, as though they had been there since the beginning of time. Though people dismissed the theory, it soon gained ground when they noticed the numerous dried up rivers which now serve as roads from city to city were tested, and found to have the faintest traces of magic in them…for, unbeknownst to the now-living, thousands of years ago, these same rivers carried overflowing amounts of Valderia’s magic.

And then, completely by accident one day, one of the vaults in which the magic had been stored was unearthed. Inside lay an astoundingly enormous cache of magic, stored in a crystalline form. The crystallized magic was carried off back to the various cities, where it was discovered to be an even greater power source than coal or oil could hope to be--there was no pollution, and the machines could keep running for days. Meanwhile, peoples’ inherent abilities were augmented greatly merely by absorbing the crystals. But soon, a question dawned on the land that would rock its political workings for years to come:

How could more magic be obtained?

And so, a scavenger hunt began for the magic vaults. From titanic mountain ranges, to caverns far below the surface; from frozen and barren wastelands, to cluttered and tangled jungles; and even from inside dormant volcanoes, to the very bottom of the ocean floor...all over Valderia, people searched frantically for the vaults. Some sought profit from selling the magic to industry, while others desired it to gain domination over their rival races and enemy tribes, and still others just wanted it for themselves, so they could become “gods” among their people. But no matter how hard they searched, few vaults were ever found...

The first “Magic Hunters” later became the founders of the Global Magic Hunters Organization (GMHO for short), an international association that dedicated itself to finding vaults and valuable materials for profit. One of the richest organizations in the lands of Valderia, the GHMO has good standing in nearly all the tribes on the continent. As such, people from many different backgrounds pay large fees to the GHMO to organize Hunting Parties, or groups of various people led by a Hunt Master.

Once formed, these Parties would traverse the world, looking for the precious crystalline magic with no clues at all, and no guarantees of success. Though Magic Hunting is a dangerous job that has killed off many unfortunate people, hundreds of Hunting Parties still are formed annually due to the promise of vast riches.

Now, our story begins with the formation of one of those Hunting Parties...


The Races

High Elves
Elves were the first race created by the Life Walkers, and the only race that all eight Life Walkers worked on together. Because of this, Elves believe that they are the Life Walkers’ favorite race. (Whether or not this is true is up for debate, but never mention that to an Elf.) There are two Elven tribes--the High Elves and the Wood Elves. High Elves are the larger of the two Elven tribes and are considered to be more friendly and likable than their Forest Elf counterparts, even though High Elves tend to be very arrogant. High Elves usually stand around the upper 5’ range to the low 7’ range, and have very slender bodies with narrow and pointed faces. They also have pale skin that is known to tan easily; pale skin is a sign of wealth and power among High Elves, while tan skin is a sign of the lower class or of servants. High Elves have lightly colored hair that ranges from a pure white to a light brown, and are well known for their pointed ears which is a trait of great pride among the High Elves. In addition, they age very slowly and have been known to live for hundreds of years, as well as being very extremely intelligent, and having mastery of arcane arts.

Dwarves
Dwarves were the among the first races to be created by the Life Walkers. It is currently unknown the exact order during the string of creation following the Elves. The Dwarven creation was headed by Uthor the Smith and was assisted by Strella the Aegis. Dwarves are stout and short race measuring on average of 4’, and have round faces and small ears. They have sandy skin tones, and dark hair colors that range from pitch black to a deep brown--though there are some exceptions to this such as the Grimm Hammer Clan, known for their white hair, and the Iron Tooth clan, known for their pale skin and burning red hair. Dwarves are well known for their facial hair which is often grown out into magnificent beards; long and well groomed beards are often signs of pride in one’s clan and heritage. On average, dwarves live to the age of 90, and they lose their physical strength due to age much more slowly than other races. The Dwarven race lived on the surface during their early years as a race. But due to the great paranoia of their early rulers and aggression from the goblins, they hid themselves away in the great mountains of the north. Because of this, most Dwarven cities are gigantic underground fortresses. Most of the race is made up of master smiths, whom are considered the best miners in all of the lands of Valderia. Dwarves are devout followers of the Life Walker Uthor whom they view as the father figure of their race, and have an affinity for Earth Arcana and Holy Magic.

Gnomes
Gnomes are another small race that was created by Voldomir the Adept and Uthor the Smith. Gnomes stand around 3’2”, just barely making them the shortest race. They have fair skin and hair that has a wide range of hues, and they also possess round faces and pointy ears. Considered to be the friendliest and most agreeable race, the Gnomes are thought of as considered as having the best hospitality. Gnomes share a particularly friendly relation to the Nordic Tribe. Gnomes are master shipbuilders and are the inventors of the airship and the airplane. Gnomes are also master tradesmen; trade deals with a Gnomish party tend to be beneficial to both sides, but it is unwise to take advantage of Gnomes since it will usually lead to financial ruin. A peaceful race, the Gnomes tend not to get involved with most wars.

Goblins
Goblins were created around the same time as the Dwarves, Orcs, and Trolls; their makers were Writhka the Trickster and Voldomir the Adept. A short and feeble race that stand around 3’6” on average, Goblins have green skin that ranges in hues and do not posses hair. They have small pointy faces and wide toothy smiles, and are known for their over sized noses and ears. Goblins are the smallest of the green skin races, but they make up for this through their sheer brilliance and knack for technology. This race of small green men is responsible for the recent development of the War Walkers, large mechanical suits that are used for combat. Goblins are among the best manufacturers--only out-shined by the Tekers--and are also excellent gunsmiths and are one of the main researchers in automatic weaponry. In addition, Goblins are excellent merchants, but it is risky to make a deal with them, as most Goblins are masters of deception. The merchant class of Goblins praise Writhka and view wit and cunning as their greatest asset, while those Goblins involved with gunsmithing and manufacturing view Voldomir as their greatest patron and their muse. Goblins are unable to use any form of magic other than a few subcategories of Dark Magic and Arcana Magic.

Orcs
Orcs were the personal project of the Life Walker Fazok the Marauder. A large, brutish species that constantly grows throughout its lifetime, the average orc ranges from 7' to 8’4” in height. The Orcish body is extremely muscular and highly durable, making Orcs well suited for combat. They also have large heads with a protruding and oversized lower jaw; this defining feature is responsible for the Orcish accent of common speech, which is caused by their inability to pronounce specific sounds. Orcs have dark green skin that varies in tone based on region and black hair that is styled by Orcs in various fashions based on tribal origins. Having a knack for warfare, Orcs are considered to be the most violent of the green skin races. Some claim that their apparent battle lust stems from a cruel and malevolent nature, but it is actually for religious purposes--orcs believe that the only true way to praise Fazok is to engage in warfare. Regardless, Orcs are still viewed as barbaric and down right stupid by other races, which consider themselves as higher and more civilized. This is actually extremely ironic, since Orcs are much more intelligent than they are made out to be, and their culture is very sophisticated. A little known fact is that Orcs are very fond of poetry and drama. On occasion, Orcish warriors will recite their favorite poetry piece during combat in order to flaunt their prowess and to taunt their opponent. As such, Orcs are skilled warriors and excellent poets. They are also a very progressive race being the first to legalize same sex marriage and they are responsible for early psychology. Orcs have a reputation for being master beast tamers and have been able to capture vicious and exotic creatures, and are also adept at psionics and spiritual magic.

Trolls
The Trolls were the joint creation of Drolos the Druid and Writhka the Trickster. Trolls are tall and lean. They stand around 6’4” to 6’10” on average. Trolls are considered to be members of the green skin races, but they often point out they are more of a greenish blue. Trolls skin ranges in color from a deep turquoise to a light teal. Trolls have hairs of unusual color and are of bright hue. Trolls are the most civil of the green skin races and they are the most adept with magic among the three races. Trolls have a strict code of honor and chivalry that most Trolls abide by. Dueling originated from the Troll lands as a way of settling major disputes and as a way of defending one’s honor, but it has since gained popularity among the Solarian and High Elf gentry. The most common form of dueling and the one that originated from Troll lands is the magic duel. The magic duel utilizes a very basic, non-lethal, Dark Magic spell that anyone can learn regardless of natural affinity. The spell renders the target unconscious and is fired as a quick moving projectile. Trolls are skilled users of Spiritual, Arcana, and Dark Magic.

Humans
Humanity was the final race created by the life walkers. They were created by Sele the Lightbringer, Voldomir the Adept, Writhka the Trickster, and Courimir the Magician. Humans are currently divided into three distinct tribes, The Nords, The Solarians, and The Tekers. These Tribes were formed due to events that lead to the major civil war that was known as “The Great Schism”. The Great Schism was primarily fought between what is now The Solarian Tribe and The Teker Tribe.

The Nords
The Nordic tribe is the smallest of the Human tribes, but its members are the largest of the Human Tribes. Nords stand around 6’2” to 7’4” and are usually very muscular. Nords have hair of bright tones that range from bright red to light brown. The Nordic tribe separated from the other tribes during the chaos of The Great Schism. Although the Nords were not heavily involved with the fighting during the Great Schism, they were sought out by both sides. In the end the Nords severed all ties with the Tekers and Solarians and left the Heartland in a mass migration lead by Ulonder the Allfather, who later became the founder of the Nordic Federation. The Nords traveled northwards in hopes of finding the paradise promised by Ulonder, the tribe instead found itself trapped in the Borealis Valley by its harsh and sudden winter. The Nordic tribe most likely would have died out during that winter if it hadn't been for the assistance of the Gnomes. The Nords are some of the best warriors and seafarers of the Northern Region. They are also are master practitioners of Spiritual Magic.

The Tekers
The Teker tribe is the second largest tribe of Humanity. Tekers average around 5’6” to 6’8” in height, and possess tan skin and dark hair that ranges in color from black to dark brown. Tekers are the most technologically advanced of the three tribes. The formation of the Teker tribe is attributed to the beginning of the Great Schism, but its formation is not the main reason for the war. Ultimately having lost the conflict and being forced to escape the Heartland, the Tekers currently occupy the Southern Valderian Coast and the Triperian Peninsula under the banner of the Teker Federation. Full of master inventors and manufacturers, this tribe flaunts its skills through great technological marvels, such as the floating city of Strelenka. Tekers are master psions and the tribe has the highest rate of psychic manifestation of any tribe or race.

The Solarians
The Solarian Tribe is the largest and the most powerful tribe of all of humanity. Solarians have fair skin and lighter hair that ranges from blond to light brown. Solarians range from 5’10” to 6’10” in height. The Solarians are a highly religious tribe that worships Sele the Lightbringer as their sole creator and their savior. Solarians currently occupy the Heartland due to their victory over the Tekers during the Great Schism. The Solarian victory is commonly attributed to the discovery of Holy Magic which gave the Solarians the upper hand. Solarians believe that Holy Magic was a gift from Sele to help defeat Tekers and drive them from the Heartland. Solarians have spread Holy Magic alongside their religion throughout Valderia. Solarians are masters of Holy Magic and are skilled at the Arcane.

The Beast-Men (Kindred)
A disparate race formed by Drolos the Druid. A race with no clear territory, the Beast-Men (referred to by themselves as Kindred) are often found in small, remote villages, usually in a small tribe related to their animal “halves”. Beast-men are humanoid in form, but adopt some of the strengths-- and some of the weaknesses-- of their animal sides. For instance, a deer Kindred might have sensitive, precise ears, but their eyesight would be lacking. Their general temperament is as varied as the race itself, typically changing with their related animal, but they are usually isolationist and traditional. Many groups believe in a spiritual connection to the natural world, and are also averse to cities. In truth, most Beast-men do not leave their remote homes, but as other races grow in power and in holdings more and more are striking out. They are still uncommon in civilized society, and sometimes ostracized, but many have found a niche nonetheless. Beast-Men are masters of Spiritual magic.

Elementals
If the elements could have a physical, living incarnation, that would be the Elementals. They cover a wide range of species, mostly keeping themselves and their societies secret from the rest of the world. (There are occasionally multiple elemental species assigned to the same element, but in that case they consider themselves "cousin" species. This is a rare occurrence, and more often than not an Elemental species will collapse back into its element and reform as another species. Only the most advanced Elemental Species can retain their individuality as a species for long periods of time.) Elementals can range from simply "humans" unnaturally attuned with an element to sentient elements. (the latter are often highly evolved Elementals, and shape the elements that compose their form into a shape that resembles their original forms.)
Elementals can never hope to attain even mediocre usage of elements other than the element that is their life. When using their own element, however, even the weakest elementals have strength comparable to experienced users. The strongest have strength unbelievably far beyond the dreams of non-elementals.

Known Elementals:

Voltikron
Element: Lightning
Originally sentient electro-mechanical beings (living robots). At present, they are nothing more than sentient lightning capable of inhabiting and operating any electro-mechanical device like it is its own body, to a point. If their form does not possess enough voltage to power the machine, they cannot operate it (though multiple Voltikron can work in concert to provide sufficient voltage). They can also simply power a construct without controlling it. Their civilization now inhabits machinery to interact with the material world outside of being lightning.

Pyrelios
Element: Fire
Though they appear to be completely human on the outside, Pyrelios are actually composed of flames burning in the air. Able to generate lots of heat within themselves and surround themselves in an aura of it, these avatars of flame can melt through nearly anything.

Arboreon
Element: Life
The veins of these strange beings flow with chlorophyll, not blood cells. Harnessing the power of Life, Arboreon can fire bursts of energy and light that they have absorbed from the outside world. They also have a unique ability to change their genetic data, thus allowing themselves to take on the characteristics of virtually any plant they know of, though they still retain their humanlike appearances.

Zaphaero
Element: Wind
The wings upon the backs of these Elementals sets them apart from other humans, not to mention the tendency Zaphearo have to act like speed demons. Zaphaero can go much faster without hitting terminal velocity, and their abilities over wind allow them to almost entirely ignore air friction...or use that air to rip up their enemies

Kiganjo
Element: Earth
Usually much taller than other humans (around 2.5 meters tall, to be precise), these Elementals are able to transfigure their skin into hard stones, and have ungodly amounts of physical strength at their disposal. In other words, Kiganjo can take and deal out plenty of punishment, should the situation call for it.

Mizuchi
Element: Water
Appearing human on land, when these people enter the water, they take on much different appearances. In their natural element, they take on the forms of serpentine dragons, and are able to breath underwater without worry. Capable of swimming quickly and surviving large amounts of pressure, Mizuchi can also use the water around them and hurl it at people with tremendous force.


Seraphs
Seraphs are believed to be the personal creation of Sele the Lightbringer. They resemble winged humans and will stand around 4’10” to 5’7” at their prime. They also have pale skin and have hair that ranges through the entire color spectrum for humans. Seraphs age very slowly and have extremely long life spans. For example, a Seraph that resembles the age of fourteen can be anywhere from 180 to 230. Seraphs developed Holy Magic early on, but they kept the magic a well kept secret. But during the Great Schism the Seraphs sided with the Solarians and gave them Holy Magic. Because of this Seraphs are regarded as the messengers and the children of Sele the Lightbringer by the Solarians. They are the smallest race in terms of population and they are spread across Valderia. Most Seraphs are peaceful and generally likable, with the exception of the few Seraphs who identify themselves as warriors. Seraphs are Masters of Holy Magic and they have the ability to use Arcana, but they are unable to perform any form of Spiritual or Dark Magic.

The Major Countries

The Great Orcish Khanate

The Great Orcish Khante is an empire that is ruled by the Great Khan. It controls the majority of the Eastern Coast and a sizeable portion of the Fazorian Plains. The Khanate was formed after the unification of the Eight Orcish Clans under the first Great Khan, Rothor the Eternal. Under his brilliant leadership the Orcs were able to claim a sizable Empire. Although the Khanate is in constant warfare, it hasn’t expanded territory since the Death of Rothor. Talk of territorial expansion is considered political suicide in the Khanate, since it is viewed as going against the will of Rothor, who ended his campaign of expansion two decades before his death. Currently, the Khanate is ruled by Tyrus the Grimm of the Fellhammer Clan. Tyrus is a well respected Khan and is considered to be one of the best strategists of all of Valderia. The Khanate is a center of cultural development and is the home to many famous poets and writers of drama. It is also a progressive country and was the first country to officially legalize same sex marriage, which was already an accepted practice among the majority of the clans. Gladiator games originate from the Great Orcish Khanate as a form of entertainment and a way of publicly displaying combat prowess. Every two years the Khanate holds The Grand Bloodfest, which is held in the capital city of Rothburg, home to the famous Puzzle Dome, the premier arena of death. The Khanate has strong bonds with the Goblin Trade Conglomerate and the United Teker States.

The Nordic Federation

The Nordic Federation is located in the Northern Territories and controls all of the Borealis Valley and a large portion of the North Western Coast. The government is split into two branches, the Martial Branch and the Administrative Branch. The Administrative Branch is comprised of the Great Hall and the First Borealin Regiment. The Great Hall is a legislative body that is composed of 40 elected officials. Each of the ten provinces get four representatives who are elected every three years. The Great Hall is responsible for law making, assembly of the army, foreign diplomacy, and regulating interprovincial and international commerce. The First Borealin Regiment is composed of 2,000 of the finest soldiers the army has to provide. It serves as a peacekeeping force and is responsible for enforcing the laws that are created by The Great Hall. The Martial Branch is responsible for the training and maintaining the army and leading the Federation during times of War. It is lead by Council of War which is composed of the Seven Warlords of the North. The Federation is home to the Nordic Tribe, the Gnomish Race, and several tribes of Beastmen. It is also a major trade nation that is only rivaled by the Goblin Trade Conglomerate. At the moment, the Nordic Federation has a stable alliance with the Solarian Empire, and a shaky alliance with Mioresse.

The Solarian Empire
The Solarian Empire is one of the most expansive countries of Valderia. The Solarian Empire controls all of the Heartland, with the exception of territory that is in the possession of the High Elves. The Empire is ruled by the High Emperor, and upon his death, the members of the Heliosopholin clergy will select the next Emperor. Because of this, the Heliosopholin church has great influence over the Emperor. However the Emperor is a mere figure head that doesn’t have much power; the real power lies in the Ordo Solaris, a militaristic organization with strong ties to the church. The Ordo Solaris governs the people through strict codes enacted by them. Due to their position and their control over major trade routes, the Solarian Empire has great influence over trade . It has a strong alliance with Alne and Mioresse, but very poor relations with the United Teker States; subsequently, the Empire is constantly at war with the States. Currently, the two rival nations have an uneasy peace that has been kept for 20 years-the longest armistice in both nations’ history.

The United Teker States
The United Teker States is a confederation comprised of many Teker run city states. The city states are bound together under a loose constitution, and each city state has its own ruling government system. The majority of the states are either ruled by strict military dictatorships or controlled by the major manufacturer of the city, although there are a few theocracies, monarchies, and democracies. The States have the greatest manufacturing capacity of any nation and are far more technologically advanced than the other nations. While the nation as a whole may not seem like a major threat, if provoked, it can be a fearsome power to be reckoned with. About 65% of all psychics in Valderia are of Teker descent, meaning most of them come from the States. The United Teker States has a strong alliance with The Great Orcish Khanate and The Goblin Trade Conglomerate, and stable relations with the Nordic Federation.

Minoresse
Minoresse is the great Dwarven kingdom of the North. It controls the entire Northern Mountain Range, and is ruled by the Dwarven Kings whose line has lasted for millennia. Minoresse’s economy is mainly based around mining and exporting precious metals as well weapon and armor forging. Dwarven armor and weapons are the best around and they are highly sought after by wealthy officers and mercenaries. Minoresse is a very militaristic country and the Dwarves are masters of Siege warfare. It is said that no army has ever been able to breach the walls of a Dwarven stronghold. Regrettably, Minoresse has very poor relations with other nations due to the immense paranoia of their leadership.

Alne
Alne is the High Elf Kingdom. It controls the southern part of the Heartland. Alne is ruled by the High Elf Matriarch, a powerful female user of the Arcana that has mastered all six points. While she has no major power and is more of a figurehead, she does have great influence over the High Elf Council, which she presides over. The High Elf Council is comprised of the heads of each of the important Elven houses. Alne is a center for research and learning in the field Arcane and it is the home to the Council of the Magi, an influential and powerful group of magic users from across the continent. Alne has a strong alliance with The Solarian Empire and it has very poor relations with The Great Orcish Khanate.

The Goblin Trade Conglomerate
The Goblin Trade Conglomerate controls the Southeastern Coast as well as the Southern Archipelago. The Conglomerate is controlled by the heads of several powerful goblin trading companies, and is home to the finest War Walker manufacturing plants. As a way of showing off their design and manufacturing abilities, companies will hold War Walker battle tournaments. These tournaments are common among the islands, and the biggest of these tournaments is held every three years in the capital. As a rule you can find any good in the Conglomerate, from illegal drugs to slaves. Most notably, however, the Conglomerate is the biggest exporter of crude oil, which is an important part of their economy. The Goblin Trade Conglomerate is currently allied with The Great Orcish Khanate and The United Teker States, and has good relations with all the other major countries except Minoresse.

The Minor Countries

Ciro
Ciro is a southern country that borders the United Teker States and The Great Orcish Khanate. It is mainly controlled by the Troll Gentry and is a neutral country that has good relations with its neighbors.

Slyvana
This heavily wooded country lies in between Alne and The United Teker States. Slyvana does not allow any movement between its borders and the country is controlled by the Wood Elves.

Ulteris
This major Teker City State separated from The United Teker States. It has small land holdings and is considered to be the most militaristic nation.

The Life Walkers

Sele the Lightbringer
Sele is the eldest of the Life Walkers and is the Life Walker of the Light. Sele’s symbol is the illuminated sword. She is commonly credited for the gift of Holy Magic.

Writhka the Trickster
Writhka is Life Walker of trickery and deception. Writhka’s symbol is the two toned mask. His followers are known as Harlequins. A large percentage of Harlequins have Triple Star Bounties and most Harlequins are considered to be very dangerous. Harlequins travel the globe in small performing groups known as Troupes.

Uthor the Smith
Uthor is the Life Walker of the Forge and Smithing. Uthor’s symbol is the burning hammer. He is worshipped by the Dwarves as a god and his symbol can be found on many Dwavern Master pieces.

Voldomir the Adept
Voldomir is the Life walker of the mind and technology. Voldomir’s symbol is the all seeing eye. Many claim that he gives visions to important inventors in order to help the advancement of technology. He is responsible for the psionic ability of some of the races.

Drolos the Druid
Drolos is the Life Walker of Nature. The symbol of Drolos is the white oak. The white oak is a rare tree that can only be found in nature. Because of this White Oaks are often considered markers of sacred sites that the followers of Drolos will make pilgrimages to. He is also the patron Life Walker of all Spiritual magic users.

Fazok the Marauder and Strella the Aegis
Fazok and Strella are siblings, they are the Life Walkers of War. Fazok is also the Life Walker of Brutality and Chaos and Strella is also the Life Walker of Justice and Order. Fazok’s symbol is the bloodied axe and Strella’s symbol is the sword and shield.

Courimir the Magician
Courimir is the Life Walker of Magic. His symbol is the Hand of the Elements. Most believe that Courimir created the Universal Tome, an ancient book of spells that is considered to be the foundation of all Arcane based magic.


Magic

Everyone is born with some kind of innate magical affinity. While anyone can train in other forms of magic, they will always have greater control and might with their original magical abilities.

(Please note that while there are only these 5 archetypes of magic, they can do more than the listed abilities.)


Arcana Magic: Arcana is the most commonly used branch of magic. Arcana Magic concerns the use of the the six points of the Arcane. The six points are Fire, Water, Wind, Lightning, Earth, and Life. Fire, Wind and Life rest on the tagumine triad, while Lightning, Earth, and Water rest on the prefaito triad. Users of the Arcane will usually master one of the six points in their lifetime while more studious and dedicated users can learn an entire triad. The six points focus on the manipulation or conjuring of a specific element. The Life point, however, focuses on healing and bodily enhancement.

Spiritual Magic: In order to use Spiritual Magic the user must make a blood contract with a spirit. The Spirit Magic user, or Medium, will act as a living host for the spirit who will reside in the Medium’s subconscious. In exchange the spirit will act as a source of power and will bestow its own powers upon the Medium. The stronger the bond between the Medium and the spirit, the stronger the Medium’s power will be. The powers of spirits range widely and there are very few spirits that share similar powers. Mediums can communicate with their spirit through meditation.

Psionics: Uses the brain to perform magic, allowing for various actions such as telepathy, telekinesis, mental projection, and clairvoyance. Psychics are able to master multiple subsets of Psionics. However, Psionics is the most demanding of the magics and requires constant training. Out of the magical archetypes, Psionic abilities are the rarest.

Holy Magic: A religion-based magic that works to support the user’s allies. It can heal people, or augment their magical and physical abilities, or even limit the abilities of opponents. In order to use holy magic the user must be in possession of a Holy Icon. Holy Icons are symbols of specific Life Walkers that allow the user to focus their energy. Most Holy Magic users will have a patron Life Walker that they call upon, but some will carry Icons of various Life Walkers. Icons are usually carried by the user but they can be augmented into weapons or armor.

Dark Magic: The odd, miscellaneous grab bag of magic abilities not covered by the above four. It is sometimes referred to as Specialist Magic. Like Arcana Magic, Dark Magic requires great study. Its full capacities have not been discovered as of yet, but it is generally looked down upon, due to the negative reputation of some of its most infamous users. Dark Magic can range from common place spells such as teleportation and enchantments to some of its more dangerous and feared spells that have given the magic its malicious reputation.

Valar spun down into a crouch leveling his weapon in the direction of the voice. He jerked his gun up as he saw someone who wasn't a cultist. "Hellfire, where'd you come from? Anyways, doesn't matter, we think the train station is this way. At least that's the direction everyone seems to be running in. If you've got a gun and can shoot we need you with us. We were just gonna head right for the station, blow up anything that's in our direct path and try and get out of here alive. Hugo was in the middle of stabbing a cultist in the head rapidly with its sword when the badger man approached him. Hugo tossed away the body and the weapon as it burst into flicker fire. "You look like fighter. Need help?" Hugo paused and smiled, “I’m not in particularly dire circumstances,” Hugo quickly drew his grenade launcher and fired a round into the mouth of a rapidly approaching cultist, “But there is safety in numbers!” Hugo set down his bag and pulled out a complex map of the city. “Now, I’m going to be honest with you, I’m not in need of a fighter, after all fighting takes up time and right now we don’t have much time.” Hugo fingered the map to pinpoint their current location,

“Now I’m happy to have you come with me, but be prepared, we are not going to fight anything, that is if all goes to plan.” Hugo smiled, rolled up the map, and turned to a nearby covered man hole. “I hope you don’t mind the smell of excitements.” With a simple wave of the hand and a little mental focus, Hugo sent the iron cover flying into a nearby building. “Of course you can avoid the smells, and try your luck against the robed menace, but its your choice.” Hugo slid down the ladder and entered the dimly lit concrete atrium of Kergstien sewer system. In the center was a large pool of sewage that flowed into four separate tunnels, each marked with their own cardinal direction. “Hey Badgerman! If there is anyone else up there you can tell them that they can tag along if they don’t want to be turned into flesh capes with rhinestone patterns!”

Val watched as the gunner leapt into the manhole, map in hand, and wondered what to do next. For his own sake, it would be best to simply follow, but... best to call others, as well. He didn't know how he was going to raise his voice over the din of the battle, but he tried.

"There is other exit here! Come! But do not let cultists near!" Val shouted, hopefully getting the message across in his accent. Cultists getting into the sewer would be their greatest concern within, as the low light there would make fighting hard, and they needed no distractions in escaping the town. As a cultist came near the manhole-- and Val-- Val used his wind magic to sidestep a heavy blow, then managed to trip his foe with a hit to the head. Then he clambered down after the gunner, knowing full well he wouldn't be able to survive for any longer on the surface.

As he slunk after the gunner, he heard the slink of something climbing down the ladder into the sewers. He knew not what it was.

Adris was kind of surprised that the kid was able to hold him despite from his lack of apparent muscular mass. He wasn’t quite surprised of his powers to control earth since of his own being. "Don't worry, sir, we'll be able to get out of this safely." The kid said with a calm voice. Or at least, he tried. Adris knew it that it won’t be an easy task; there was cultist everywhere. From everywhere he was trying to look, he could see cultist. That, and blood, everywhere. He would then notice some kind of robot pointing out that there was a bicycle. He was right, but the attempt was quite risky. Although, he didn’t have any choice as they were catapulted by the kid’s earth powers. Adris would land into the basket and they were given another head start on the cultists. He knew, however, it wasn’t enough.

Adris looked around as he wondered what could he do to help; he had no water on him, and the only thing he could notice is blood. Blood, blood and blood. And sometimes things that was left by the people. He sighed a bit, then came an idea to his mind; he knew that blood was mostly made of water. Adris would give a thought for a second, deeming that the situation required such intervention. He lifted his hand as he would start to gather water from the blood. It dried up in front of them, but not enough to hinder the kid’s pedalling. He would then looked back at the kid, saying: “Don’t worry and continue to pedal. I’ll caught up with you soon.” He said as he jumped down from the carrier, letting the water lifting him as he quickly positioned himself behind the robot and the cultists.

He bit under his breath as he drank some of the water, flinching at the taste. It gave him more energy as he started to both gather water and use it. He would manipulate the water so it would take the form of blades as they solidify in a perfect ice. He would then throw the ice at them, often hitting in the head, which he noted was more effective than just randomly. Some of them was bright enough to dodge the hit. He made sure to gather more water than he used, keeping a mask of water over his mouth to drink from it. He noticed that it was more physically demanding that most of the time.

Soon, when he gathered enough water, he would do a second wipe, but only using one half of the gather water. Of course, it wasn’t as impressive as the last one, but it was enough to take the cultist few steps back behind, and often make them trip and lose their speed. Once he was done, he accelerated to place himself between the kid and the robot, using the other half to create a fragmented dome around them. It would be a huge stream of water flowing around in a dome like manner. It would be powerful enough to punch through flesh and even maybe muscle. The stream flowed at an incredible speed for that. He kept on gathering water, screaming to the kid despite the mask of water over his mouth.

“I don’t know where we have to go, but just take us there!”

As so, he would follow the kid, looking back to make sure that the other one wasn’t hit be the dome of water. He knew that he couldn’t hold it forever. It started to hurt his head quite a lot, and the energy gain from drinking the water wasn’t enough to compensate the energy used for the dome of water and the small jets of water helping him for his running.. He knew that soon or later, he’ll have to let everything down, and he might pass out against. For now, one thing was clear in his mind; get out of this farce.

As he ran, Gainsboro kept looking back over his left shoulder, keeping an eye on his pursuers.
They were still following behind him and the two on the bike, but with the young lad paddling through various streets, he managed to lose a good chunk as he went through various streets. Even though it might have been excessive, he sweeped his left eye continuously back and forth, since he didn’t wanted to be blindsided by cultists.

It ended up paying off, however not in the way he had expected. As he turned his back towards the front, he saw the man, whom the young man and he himself had saved but a scant few minutes ago, hopped of the baggage carrier, and with articulate gestures, started gathering water around himself, garnered from the pools of blood, that hath flown from their previous owners.

He ran past Gainsboro, and with the water that flowed around him he created several frozen projectiles which he fired at the cultists. He followed that up with a wave of water- which rolled through the street, crashing into a great deal of their pursuers.
With the water he had left, he created a dome of fast moving water that surrounded himself, which somehow made him move a bit faster than before. However, it was still no where near the speed they were going while he sat on the bike. In contrary, the three of them had significantly slowed down to such an extent, that it wouldn't take long for the cultists to catch up with them.

This man definitely wasn't thinking clearly. Another issue was the fact that the man had fallen unconscious not that long ago, and was physically exerting himself a lot, which couldn't be good. They weren't sure what to expect at the station either, so they might need his skills then.

Weighing his options, Gainsboro came to the conclusion that he'd have to carry the man. He seemed far too prideful to listen
When told to sit on the bike, and would likely just hop off the carrier and continue walking. With a groan and mild reluctance, he had thrust both arms through the dome. He quickly wrapped an arm under his lower back, and another under his knee pits before lifting him in a tight, and secure hold, much akin to a bridal carry.

"Save your magic tricks for later, we might need them when we get to the station." He told the man. He might be feeling uncomfortable and a bit embarrassed, but Gainsboro cared not, as he ran once more, after the bycicle, through and out of various streets.

Kergstien, Solarian Empire


"I don't think I've got any time left," Thomas muttered, glancing between the goblin and the mutated titans. He could barely keep up with them, even though he was taking every shortcut he could across the skyline of Kergstien. It was evident he'd need to get the goblin out of there as quickly as possible.

With a few motions of his hands, Thomas sent his puppets towards the goblin, praying they wouldn't suddenly break into pieces. Just as one of the monsters made a strike, the puppeteer barely managed to use his minions to carry the goblin out of the way and up to the rooftops. Thomas was about to breath a sigh of relief, when he realized that indeed one of the arms of the dolls was breaking.

"Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap!" he hissed, frantically trying to make his puppets get a better grip on the goblin while bringing them closer. At the same time, the cultists noticed his actions and lunged for the puppets in midair. Horrified and out of ideas, Thomas could only watch with wide eyes and a held breath...

Perhaps he wouldn't have panicked so much if he had remembered the goblin used grappling hooks earlier to elude the titans.

When the man in the black suit jumped off the carrier, Michael looked back in confusion and shock. "Wait, what are you--?!" he demanded, hand reaching for the brake.

It wasn't long, however, before the man began to sweep their nightmarish pursuers with powerful water magic, and Michael could only watch with a dumbstruck expression. This was just getting stranger and stranger...but honestly, with the dome of water flowing around their group, that man had most of his bases covered.

Or, he would be, if he didn't look like he was going to collapse...which was probably why the robot rushed in and started carrying him, catching up to Michael quickly. The pink-haired boy smiled and nodded to them, glad they had managed to catch up. Then he turned around, and got treated to something rather embarrassing and gross.

A manhole had been uncovered, and Michael had not been paying attention at all. He and the bicycle dropped into the manhole, the pink-haired boy screaming at the top of his lungs as he did so. There was a splash, and Michael found himself in some foul-smelling water. "Ugh," he muttered, standing up and feeling incredibly foolish, not to mention disgusted by his predicament.

Up above, the cultists' feet scraped against the roads with sharp noises. Hopefully, the robot and the man with the guns had gotten away; as was, though, Michael couldn't get back to the surface with the monsters there. At least they weren't descending into the manhole. Trying to ignore the uncomfortable feeling of having wet and dirty clothes, Michael began to walk through the sewers, hoping he'd get lucky and go in the right direction. "Honestly, it's a labyrinth down here, for God's sake..."

Kai was just as surprised as Valar when the Elf-like man caught up to them. Even in the chaos he moved quickly and quietly.

Needless to say, Kai didn't have much experience with rabid bloodthirsty mutating cultists either.
She had come into this city hoping for an adventure, for an escape from the mediocrity of her life. She thought she had been ready for this. Why had she though she was ready? Because she could throw a mean left hook and had won a few bar fights? Kai wanted to go back in time and slap herself for her arrogance. She wasn't ready for this. In fact, she was terrified.
She swallowed it hard. She pushed the fear away and kept her cool. Just as she was about to take off again for what she hoped was the direction of the station, she heard a clatter, a loud scream, shortly followed by a faint splash. She looked sharply off in the direction of the sound.
There was an uncovered manhole in the street, and she looked just in time to see the blur of a bicycle and a flash of pink hair fall into the hole.
Wait- a manhole. An idea suddenly occurred to her.
She darted for the hole, gesturing for Valar and Lucious to follow. She swung her legs inside the manhole and scurried down the ladder just in time to see the pink haired kid with the bicycle get up out of the putrid water and begin to walk away.
"Oi! Mr. Pink-hair!" She called, not knowing his name. "Wait for us!"

Maybe such a sneaky approach wasn't the best idea after all. The nord spun and leveled his weapon at Lucious, but when he seemed to realize that he wasn't a cultist, he lowered the rifle. "Think?" But before Lucious could reply, his thought were interrupted by a man's scream followed by a splash. Lucious jerked his head towards the direction of the noise to see something fall inside a open manhole. Suddenly, the Teker girl gestured for Lucious and the nord to follow her as she disappeared inside the manhole herself.

Lucious hesitated, but the motivation of the mutated cultist tearing apart multiple bodies not too far from where he was was enough for Lucious to follow. As he made his way down the ladder the putrid stench became very prominent and Lucious could barely keep his stomach. As he reached the bottom he heard the Teker girl shout, "Oi! Mr. Pink-hair! Wait for us!" As Lucious looked around to try and get his bearings of the place, he soon realized that the lighting down here was in fact, very poor. "Nothing a little magic can't fix." His eyesight began to lighten up, as if someone was slowly turning on the lights.

He soon caught up with the Teker girl, and gestured to wait for the nord. The reassurance of his gigantic build, not to mention his weaponry would be nice to have.

Valar turned back from the street he had been covering to see everyone jumping down a manhole. Not quite sure what was going on but well aware that the streets were no place to be caught out by himself he ran over to join them. He dropped into the hole catching himself on the edge with one hand. Still holding himself in the air by one hand he swept the tunnel with his rifle in the other. Finding it clear of threats he allowed himself to drop down to the sewer. All of a sudden he heard barking up above and he called out. "Chester, CHESTER! Here boy." An enormous dog came running and jumped down the hole right into Valars arms. Then he reached up and arm straining pulled the grate closed over them sealing them into the preternatural gloom of the sewer.

Their party had seemingly acquired a new member while they were on the run but Valar couldn't worry about that right now. He squinted around to try and see but was having a hard time of it. However he suddenly noticed the skinny elf casting some sort of cantrip and his vision began to lighten up.

"Thanks" he said as he walked past him to the front of the group. He put his hand on the small girls shoulder giving it a comforting squeeze as he removed his pistol from his belt. He turned to face her holding out the gun, even though it was a pistol it looked huge for her hands. "Do you know how to use one of these?" he asked her, she looked up at him and nodded. "Good, stay right behind me one hand on my shoulder, person behind you has one hand on your shoulder, the last thing we want is to get separated down here." He checked his compass, lined up and he heard the girl passing on his advice. Then a small warm hand settled on his shoulders. It was time to move out. He signaled Chester to take the lead knowing the dogs nose would be able to sniff out cultists before they could. "Oya Chester, let's hunt" he muttered to himself as he moved off in a shooters crouch.

It was slow going having to move carefully, checking each corner they had no idea where there could be cultists, but they had found a rythm and started to pick up speed. He didn't know how far they'd come but it was time to check where they were. He held up a closed fist signalling the others to stop and removed a grate from the ceiling. He knelt and cupped his hands, gesuting that the girl should step in so he could lift her up and check. Hopefully she saw good things.

Adris wasn’t so sure about who or what grabbed him at first. He squirmed a bit, thinking it may be one of their enemies. However, he soon made the connection about the cold metal that he could feel. With the fact that he could now see one’s face, he was reassured. Although, he never thought once someone could held him in such position, but he didn’t doubt what this being could do. Either way, he weighed on what the robot said, feeling that it was a bit rude from him to refuse the protection he offered.

However, taking a look back of the situation, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to see the facts; despite his attempts to slow down the cultist, they still gain terrain on them. With the limited dome, they couldn’t move faster than him, which was a downer since he couldn’t run faster than that kid on a bicycle. He let a small sigh of relief as all the water stopped to flow at once. The once burden to be moving that quantity of mass gone.

“I guess you’re right, after all…” He said towards him as he looked towards Michael. He knew that he probably had more chance on his own. Adris didn’t expect for him to fall into the manhole however, gasping a bit as he was about to say something towards him, but he shut himself when he saw that there were more people entering into the sewers, and even a dog. Then, it got closed. He frowned a bit as he looked back onto the robot. “Well, guess it is the two of us.” He ironized, but he was truly curious who would actually arrive first. He would let the thing carry him. He would run, but he wondered also if it didn’t have any trick up it sleeves as well.

Being honest, the puppet show really hadn't been all that interesting to him the first time. He'd seen a Harlequinn sister of his do some similar tricks with, as far as Spotface was concerned, a little more flair... but as they worked with him to distract and fight these monsters, he plainly appreciated this second performance. "I have to hand it to you... Thomas, was it? These puppets are damned-" he stopped to leap just out of the arc of a wicked looking cleaver, "-wonderful devices, and you move them masterfully!" Considering how taxing it was getting to duck and weave out of the rapid blows and savage swipes raining down from the cultists, especially as he discovered how tireless the hoard of them seemed to be, Spotface was dimly aware that he was wasting valuable effort and concentration on chatting with his new-found ally, when the action could probably be saved for some other, decisively less dire situation. Something about the gravity of the situation compelled him to talk and laugh as though being surrounded by giant, angry, murderous madmen out to stomp him into paste was an everyday chore. Come to think of it, though, that does sound about right... But he was a little too woozy and tired to know better at this point. Dying for being too nice and cheerful isn't such a bad way to go, right? I can't let a silly little thing like massively painful bodily injury stop me from having some fun... Gods, what am I even thinking? What a wreck of a day. I need to get out of here.

Somersaulting backward from a pair of nasty-looking behemoths, he barely had enough time to duck and roll as another one swung wide with a long knife. Bounding from spot to spot, pain suddenly radiated out from his left ear; he discovered, by reaching up squeamishly, that one of them had managed to cut off the tip, and now it hurt like hell as blood splattered out in weak but constant trickle.

It was then that the puppets moved in, sweeping the goblin away in their arms and up to the rooftops, saving him just as a cultist had snuck up on him. Though the puppet struggled to hold his weight as its arm started to rip, the puppet had lifted Spotface out of the tight mob of cultists, which not only meant that he had the time and space to breathe, but could shoot his grappling shots without it landing in a tall pillar of flesh and ugly. He wasn't sure if he should thank Thomas or the puppet (the way they moved, it was creepily real), so he gave the puppet a reassuring pat on the back as he shakily dropped onto his feet, and gave Thomas a wave before grappling over in his direction. "I'd say it's time we ran for our lives to the station, no?" Spotface yelled down to him from the roofs.

Somehow, the goblin managed to get away from the behemoths, and landed gracefully (yes, "gracefully" and "goblin" rarely go together in one's mind, for whatever reason) behind Thomas, on the rooftops. The puppeteer was rather surprised, but overall glad he had gotten to safety. "You were pretty damned wonderful there yourself, you know," he replied, with the best grin he could manage in their situation. "You've definitely got more guts than I did, luring away those monster bastards on your lonesome."

Still, they definitely did need to get back to the station, and the titans were not far behind. Thomas glanced around and located the train station, thanks to being on the rooftops, and was about to say that they should go in that direction...when he remembered the puppet that was still in the box, back in the central square. He had to recover it.

"Hey, goblin--and please do tell me your name when we get a breather--I'm sorry, but I've got to trouble you again." He pointed towards the central square, which was abandoned now. Even the childishly written "Super Awesome Magic Hunters Recruitment" sign was on the ground, neglected. "I need to get something back from the central square. Do you feel like coming with me and having a dance with death again?"

He figured the goblin wanted to bail at that point, but it would be painful as hell to go alone.

Michael thought he heard someone calling out to him, but he did not have much time to think about it before he heard movement directly behind him. The next moment, there was a savage hiss, and he felt a hand yank on his ankle, trying to pull him back into the filth.

Frantically, the pink-haired boy kicked away with the same foot, but it didn't seem to be working. As a last ditch effort, he threw out his hand, and the stones beneath them jutted upwards in spikes, impaling his attacker. Taking the chance, Michael freed himself from his enemy's grip and dashed down the tunnels, disappearing into them.

However, he soon heard the cultist approaching from behind, and getting much closer. He dared to glance backwards once, and was immediately treated to the sight of two knives flying towards him. Quickly, the boy threw himself into the water flowing by their feet, and rolled out of the way before the cultist could pounce.

Jumping up again, Michael raised his right arm, and the gem on the bracelet flashed. "Get lost!" he ordered, and the stones softened underneath the cultist before solidifying again, directly over him. After making sure the prison was secure, Michael turned on his heel, and continued to run as fast as he could away from the cultist before he could break free.

He had not run for very long, though, before he suddenly found himself coming face-to-face with a tall man. The boy's first instinct was to jump back and prepare to strike, but he realized it was the Huntsmaster from before in a few seconds, and awkwardly forced himself not to go acting like a battle-happy amateur. "Ah...hello, sir. Didn't think I'd be meeting you here of all places," he commented, a little lost for words. "So, do you know your way out? I'm afraid I'm a bit lost...someone left a manhole open, and I fell in while running from the cultists."

If Gainsboro’s face plate were to able to show emotions, this would be one of those times.
Right after he spotted the cycling lad tumble into an open manhole, a ragtag group of three and a dog also jumped into it, and promptly closed it off. He wanted to open it again and follow after them, but had no time as the pursuing group of cultists, and another group of cultists, perhaps led to them by those three, zeroed in upon the two. With considerable regret, he took off into the direction they were previously going.

“Well, guess it is the two of us.” Gainsboro grunted in affirmation. “I sincerely hope he’ll make it to the station in time, and didn’t get shanked by those three, or by cultists. Speaking of cultists, i can’t seem to shake them off.” That was not entirely true. For several blocks they had followed him, he’d manage to lose that particular group, only to later on run into another, and needing to repeat his steps a few times.

Another problem was that he no longer really knew where he was going, since he hadn’t the time to closely observe his surroundings. He began to become more and more desperate as time went on. Eventually he ran into a dead ending street, with a bunch of cultists at the end, gorging themselves on cadavers, people they had most likely slaughtered themselves. Gainsboro and the man he had been carrying all the while, still found themselves at the start of the street when the feasting cultists took note of them, and started coming for them with their bloodcrazed grins.

Gainsboro found himself at an impasse. He couldn’t go back, nor forward. He couldn’t spot any immediate alley’s either. looking into the distance he spotted a stairway to the left of him, with simple but sturdy looking railings, and a wide light pole, that was somewhat close to the brick wall of the house. Having become truly desperate, he made a run for the stairs. “Hold on tight friend, i’ll attempt to jump up on the roof of that house over there.”

As he ran, the stairs came ever closer, but so did the cultists in front of him. They weren’t fast enough however, as he was already climbing- no sprinting up the stairs as they came in reach.
He kicked of with his left feet when he hit the last tread. He pushed off the railing with his right for extra lift and momentum towards the wall of the house. With a swift kick from his left, he directed himself towards the light pole. Gainsboro pulled his legs a bit towards his chest, as he would need both his legs for the final push. He wasn’t sure if he was going to make it, but even then he’d be able to at least throw the guy up there. At last his feet touched upon the light pole, and with a twist towards the left, and with all the power he could muster, he jumped towards the roof.

Kai Ember ~

Although she had called after the pink-haired boy, he must of been too far ahead, because he didn't turn back. He seemed to have ran on ahead. Kai didn't have time to worry about it for too long though. She felt a hand squeeze her shoulder and turned. The tall Nord offered her a pistol and asked her if she knew how to use it. She nodded. She had learned how to use one in her short lived and unfortunate time in the Ulteris military academy back home. She accepted the pistol - it was probably a good idea. Even though she was good with martial arts, a gun was probably more useful in this situation. As per his advice, she put her hand on his shoulder, and the group traveled in a line with the big dog - Chester - sniffing up ahead. Crouched and careful, they moved as quickly as could be expected in a dark sewer pipe. Every echo and drip caused them to pause and listen for the cultists. Sometimes Kai though she heard an ominous shuffling, but it always seemed to disappear.
After a little ways the Nord signaled for them to stop. He opened a manhole above them and cupped his hands for Kai to step up to look out. She stepped up onto his hands and he hoisted her up to look out of the manhole. She looked around, desperately looking for the train station. She just poked the top of her head through to remain as inconspicuous as possible. Chaos still reined in the streets. She ducked as a mutated cultist, hissing and screeching, lumbered past. She poked her head up again, holding her breath. Then she saw it - not too far and not too close, but in view - was what appeared to be the train station. It was a tall building, with stairs and columns and arched doors leading into a long dome-like structure. Kai could see train tracks leading into and out of the domed building. The building looked beautiful in a worn, old way. She saw groups of people desperately pushing through the arches and into the station. Best of all, she saw a manhole not too far from the stairs leading up to the station. If they made it that far, they would be within 20 feet of the train station. They just had to make it before the train left.
Kai dropped back down into the tunnel and relayed what she saw to the group.

Spotface grinned at the compliment, replying, "Hey, nothing wrong with some healthy cowardice. After a day like today, I think I'll really have to reconsider the whole 'bravery in the face of giant face-eating monsters' thing, neh? This hero stuff's for chumps."

"Hey, goblin--and please do tell me your name when we get a breather--I'm sorry, but I've got to trouble you again. I need to get something back from the central square. Do you feel like coming with me and having a dance with death again?"

"Oh! Name's Spotface. On account of all the spots on my face, see?," the little goblin said absentmindedly as he clambered atop a tall chimney. Looking out on the city, he spied out where the station was, then looked for the square. Ouch, that won't be so easy... Maybe there is such a thing as too much challenge? This new friend of his looked awful anxious to get to that square, though. And, hey, what am I even thinking? This guy and his puppets just saved my skinny green arse. Least I can do is help out.

Spotface dropped down, and began moving quickly in the direction of the square. No time to lose... "Ah, sure, buddy! We should be able to make it, no problem... Anything or anybody in the square I should look out for?" His face lit up for a second as a thought occurredt to him. His arms strayed back to his pack, and with a click, he released the glider wings. Gesturing with them, he said to Thomas, "You know, if the thing you need in the square was light enough, I might be able to sail over and back quicker than the two of us running there."

The giant man finally caught up with them. "Thanks" the nord said passing them.

"Thanks for what?" Lucious pondered. Then he felt a wave of drowsiness hit him. Not to the point of collapsing, but similar to that of coming off of a caffeine high. "Oh no..." He had accidentally cast a different type of spell, in which it granted all persons in his general area the ability to see in darkness instead of just him. Of course, some would say this is better, since it grants more people visibility. However, more people, means more magic. This spell will take much more energy than the alternative.

The nord handed the Teker a pistol as they continued. And as the ragtag group progressed through the putrid stench, the nord opened up one of the covers and lifted to girl so that she could see what was going on outside. Apparently, they weren't far from the train station, and it wouldn't take long before they would arrive. "Thank the heavens." Lucious thought. They were going to live.

"Let us continue to the safe haven" Lucious said aloud. "With haste, if you please." He gestured with his hands to add emphasis.

Hugo strained his eyes to see the approaching figure. “Oh, it’s you berry boy. Did your lover ditch you?”

Michael nearly fell over with exasperation. "For the last time, he's my br-" But he never got to finish that sentence.

Hugo smiled and lowered the revolver, “You best stick with us, unless you want to get your throat ripped out.” Hugo pulled out the map and quickly looked it over, “Now the exit should be close, its just a manhole away.” Hugo rolled up the map and tucked it away, “By the way, I heard lots of splashing, do you have friends with you?"

Looking back, Michael couldn't see anything coming from the passageway behind him. "Well, I did hear someone entering the manhole earlier. But there's a cultist in here as well. I tried sealing him in stone, but he might break out. We should probably get going soon."

It was quiet near the southern barricade. Sure they could hear the chaos up ahead, but they couldn't quite see it. The approach to the barricade wound through tight streets and the two hunters hadn’t seen or sensed anything come close. The smaller of the two hunters twitched as a small impulse reached his head, “Something’s coming.” The two hunters drew their weapons as they readied themselves. "Don't shoot! We ain't one of them!" screamed one of two rapidly approaching women.

The two hunters looked at each other and snickered, “Shooting people with axes. That’s rich.” The larger of the two set down his axe and smiled, “So how’s the approach? You guys are the only living things to come near this barricade and it has to been at least fifteen minutes since the message started playing.” The smaller hunter quickly looked over the two girls wrists and nodded to the other guard. “Looks like you guys are clean, and don’t worry. You fellas are safe now.” The nearby manhole cover suddenly catapulted into a building. The guards quickly lifted their weapons and prepared for battle,

“SURPRISE!” Hugo shot his head out from the sewer system, “How ya folks doing.” Hugo pulled himself, the badger man, and the very berried haired boy out as well. The two guards kept their weapons up and Hugo quickly pulled up his sleeves to show his wrists. “Look see, I’m clean, ain’t got an ounce of infection on me.”

“What about them?”

“They’re clean too.” The two guards glared at Hugo who rolled his eyes. “Well I’m sure you can already see the badger’s wrists and I’m sure the pink haired boy would be happy to show you his wrists.” Promptly, Michael rolled up his sleeves and removed the bracelet on his left wrist. There was nothing of interest on them. The two guards sighed and lowered their weapons, “I know it’s protocol, but do you really think the blood cult is going to start infecting people with the plague? ‘Cause it would be like them tainting their own meals with a dangerous poison.” The two hunters shrugged, “Well whatever, you guys are good to go.” “Damn right we are.”

There was an eerie and quiet drone occupying the train station as Hugo passed the small groups of survivors who were waiting to board the train. A small troupe of veteran hunters blocked off the cars saying that the train had to finish unloading.The train was a brass masterwork from the Aulrailian golden age. “Isn’t she beautiful?” Hugo nodded in agreement with the engineer, “She’s a brawler class locomotive mech. I have seen her do amazing things in my lifetime. Shame that she’s been reduced to manual labor.” The train groaned and steamed as it slowly unloaded large black boxes that rocked and moaned from the car behind.
Supervising this was a man clad in a long bellowing robe that seemed to glisten in the sun. He looked like he was his mid-twenties, but his eyes looked like they had live a thousand lifetimes. His right hand tightly clutched a large metal staff that was mounted by a large mechanical eye that shifted and searched for all things evil. "Tick tock hunters, the cargo is getting restless."

Thomas glanced at the glider wings and shook his head. "It's not light enough for that, unfortunately. But we can certainly get there first, if you have that. Can you carry me, in that case?"

Then, he had another thought. "Hm...though, perhaps we can get my brother to help. His earth powers might help us lose those cultist bastards. I'll try calling him...you think of something else, in the meantime."

Michael watched the locomotive automaton unloading the black boxes from the train. "What's with those things?" he murmured as he saw them shake and rattle. "It's like there's something alive in them..."

Fastening his bracelet around his arm, he waited until he thought no one was paying attention to him, before gazing intently at one of the boxes. His left eye flashed orange, and he tried to sense its magical signature...but a cold feeling suddenly enveloped him with only a glance, and he quickly shut the power down. "Whatever's in there...I don't think I want to know," he muttered to himself.

Just as he turned away, his bracelet flashed, signaling that Thomas was calling him. "Yes, what is it, Thomas?" Michael asked, raising the bracelet to his face.

"Michael, are you okay? Because I've got a really big problem. My puppet box is still in the central square, but there are giant titan bastards around here. I need you to come help me get it. Can you make it?"

"What do you need to get to the puppet box for?" Michael asked skeptically. "You can just make more puppets."

"You don't understand, Michael! THAT puppet is in the box! My trump card!"

That got Michael's attention. Oh, dear. I forgot he keeps it with him whenever possible. "Um...well, in that case, I'll see what I can do." Shutting his bracelet down, he turned to the Huntsmaster and the badger with whom he had gotten to the train station with. "I'm sorry, you two, but my brother's encountering some more trouble. I need to go to Central Square to help him. Could you help us, please?"

Val looked at the boy, and his urgent look. "I'm sorry, you two, but my brother's encountering some more trouble. I need to go to Central Square to help him. Could you help us, please?" The boy said.

Normally, Val would have turned down helping a stranger... but this boy seemed to have quite a connection to his brother, and it reminded Val of his mother's kindness and concern. His mother had been the only one to notice him back in Eldan... the only one to help, before he was exiled.

"I will help, boy. Lead on." Val said. "But know that I am poor fighter, and cannot do much to cultist beasts."

He looked at the gunner man next to him, wondering if the man would follow the two of them as well. It would certainly make things easier-- not only did the man seem to know the city better, he could also fight well without some sort of restriction. Val would be left to his quarterstaff to fight, and he could hardly keep himself alive with that and air control alone, much less another, seemingly less experienced fighter-- the boy. Hopefully, the man would accept, and they would travel as a group. If not...

Well, the boy might lead him to an early grave.

~Fera

Fera had no idea as to what the hell had happened. One minute there was peace in the city, and she was now a Huntress, this gave her something to do, and the opportunity for food. The next, the whole city went to hell, and she was told to flee to a train that was leaving soon. What a nice day, isn't it? As soon as Fera gained her bearings, she fled towards what she knew was the train station. Never once until the next moments, was the little Kindred happier that she was a rabbit Kindred, rather than being a fox or something. She moved gracefully, and quickly away from the hell-zone she was standing in. She drew her bow, for safety as she ran, evading as many persons as she could. Yet she noticed something, rather bad. A huge amount of cultists were in front of her, this made her blood crawl as she stopped on her heels. She fired one arrow hitting the one that may have seen her in the eye, a lucky shot. Before she could even see if the cultist died, Fera disappeared. She landed into what she presumed was the sewers. Nice. Immediately her ears picked up sloshing echoing in the isles, and then a familiar voice, the man from the table. Fera felt a little safer if she were close to him, thus she darted in his direction, the water slowed her down quite a bit, but she was fast enough to catch up within a few minutes of the sound. At least, she hoped that she could.

After a decent time of running she had caught up with the man, she slowed now, not because she was close, but from exhaustion. Soon Fera spoke towards the voices, hoping that she wouldn't be killed immediately, "I-I'm here... Sorry... For being a little... Late..." she said, her cloak hiding her fully, though her bow was sheathed over her torso and her staff was on her back, not like that would do anything anyway. Slowly, Fera approached the small group rather calmly, hoping she wouldn't have to run farther.

Valar lowered the girl back down and grinned as he learned what she had seen. "OK, we're really close we're taking the next sewer outta here boy" he said petting Chester. The girl lead the way towards the next tunnel with everyone trotting eagerly behind her. He opened the sewer hatch right under the train station. He started to lift the girl up through the manhole. "Keep the gun" he said "You can give it back to me on the train." He handed Chester up out of the tunnel and he was so happy to be out that he bounded around and even tried to lick the other people who had been in the tunnel with him. They were finally out of the tunnels. They were finally at the station. Time to get the hell out of here

Gravity. Gravity is the reason why the apples “dropped” by the tree you were lazing under hurt so much when they landed right on your forehead. It’s also why they don’t just float around or drift off into space. Everything is bound by gravity, but there are exceptions when magic comes into the mix. Being made out of lightning does have it’s benefits in that regard. Being able to float around and fly around, free from gravity sounds nice, doesn’t it? Too bad, because when you’re powering a 264 pound automaton, you’ll just have to play by gravity's rules.

Gainsboro was almost at the end of his jump, but no where near the roof of the building he was trying to jump. Being left with no other choice. Gainsboro threw the man he had been holding all this time, over the ledge and on top of the roof. The throw itself left him in an awkward, upside down plummet to the ground, landing face first. Barely recovered from the drop, Gainsboro had no time to roll out of the way as a cultist brought down it’s great axe vertically, right through one of his blade, and digging into the metal of his back. Before his attacker could wrench his axe out of him, Gainsboro rolled to the side and drew one of his swords.

It was not needed however, as he saw an alley behind him, and quickly disappeared within, darting, yet again, in and out of various streets. He began to tire of constantly running. It’s all he had been doing for a while. He was frustrated by the fact that he had such trouble fighting these abominations, his body and armaments were build for more “conventional” enemies. Enemies that would actually die, when you cleave them apart.

Coming to a stop when he deemed the area save, he checked for any new damage done to his body. Luckily it wasn’t too bad. The multi scabbard and the shattered blade prevented the greataxe cleaving too far into his back. With some awkward bending of his arms, he managed to pull it out, and it fell to the ground with a heavy dull sound. Surprised by it, Gainsboro turned around to gaze upon the weapon, and was shocked by what he saw.

“Holy shit, the blade on that thing is huuuuuge! How did i not notice it was this big!? No, a better question would be how it stuck to my back like that when the cut was relatively shallow compared to the size of this thing… It did cleave straight through my sword though.” Gainsboro said as he turned around the hilt in his hand of said sword, before chucking it over his shoulder and grabbing the axe that lies before him.
He gave the weighty weaponry a few practice swings wielding it in two hands and in one hand, and was quite delighted when he managed to swing it in one hand without too much effort. Especially so when one would take in account the overall weight and length. Although curved, the blade of the axe would be roughly one and a half feet in length, and the backside of the axe was quite broad and blunt, lending itself as a impromptu hammer of sorts.

Eventually, Gainsboro went along the way he was traveling again, and after a bit of searching, he came around familiar space. However, as he was halfway down a particular street, his vision of a street changed into one of the sky. As he tried to orientate himself, he saw a building rushing towards him. By the time he realised it was the exact opposite, he already collided and went through what seemed to be a garage door.

Having gathered his wits, he noted that he was in a car workshop, tools and various Paraphernalia strewn about, most likely abandoned in haste, and a partially disassembled car in the middle of the room. There wasn’t anymore time too look around though, as the hole he created, widened with a screech as metal twisted and contorted as a huge figure pushed it to the sides, and set foot into the workshop. Gainsboro noted that the figure was also one of the cultists, only far taller and broader than the others he had seen up till now. Another thing he noted was that the cultist was wielding a greataxe, the exact same greataxe he had claimed his not long ago.

The looming giant approached him in a slow and tedious manner, enjoyment of the situation visible on it’s face, mainly due to it’s disgusting grin. Quickly looking around the room, he saw no other exits, only the things he spotted earlier and a barrel next to him. Acting out of desperation, he stood up and threw the barrel at the giant, trying to buy time. This was supposedly a bad idea, as the cultist immediately started running towards him, and slashed the barrel in two, spraying fluids all around him and on himself. In no time, the cultist was upon Gainsboro. He grabbed him with one hand and threw him against the car, slamming him against the frontside of the car, and onto the floor.

Holding him down by pressing one hand upon his collar, he slammed the axe right into his chest, as Gainsboro struggled in vain. His assailant dragged the axe towards him, causing it to cut through the metal, and leaving a large rent all the way down to his lower torso. He forcefully pulled out the axe and held it up high above him ready to strike. Gainsboro, having become truly desperate aimed both his hands at the cultist and fired his photon shot, just before he struck down. The cultist however, was faster. Just before the bolt could leave his hands, the axe struck him not in the chest, but cleaved it’s way into his left arm.

The impact caused his arm to explode, flinging both him and his attacker across the room, while at the same time the explosion igniting the spilled fluid. moments later, the car exploded as well. By the time Gainsboro was aware of his surroundings, the whole building was in flames, as well as the cultist. He saw it dropping the greataxe on the ground as it clawed at it’s face, all whilst screaming. With considerable difficulty he stood up and limped his way towards the axe. Grabbing it with his still functioning right arm, he steadied himself before slamming the axe repeatedly into the cultists head till it fell down, and the whole of him dispersed into ash. Having killed the abomination, he limped towards the hole before stumbling out of it, back into the street.
Somewhere near the building, he spotted his slingbag, which likely got there as it fell of his shoulder while he was thrown. He made his way towards the bag and tried to pick it up with his left arm. It was only then that he noted that he couldn’t, as his lower arm, along with most of his upper arm was simply gone. laying down the axe, he fumbled the bag open with his right arm, and pulled out a yellow poncho. With even more difficulty, he managed to put it on and close the bag, and slung the bag over his left shoulder. Picking up the axe again, he limped his way towards what he recognised as the train station in the distance.

Ah, gravity. It is such a thing he hate. In the water, he always felt like he was floating in the water. Like a bird flying through the sky, minus that he was a giant monster. Either way, as he remebered that he had a life to live, he realisd that they were in the middle of jump, hurling toward a wall. He knew that they wouldn't make it, despite he judged the jumps was very good.

Adris was surprise as he was thrown up. He thought that both of them will make on the next roof top. He was worried about his friend that was going to pummel down to the ground, and maybe hit the wall in front of them. At last, he would reach the roof top. Unfortunately,without proper momentum, he landed roughly on his side. It scraped off his coat some more, but he already good for scrap after the chunk missing on his shoulder went away. Without any regrets, he tossed his coat away, floating through the wind. It revealed his belt with the guns and charger. He looked down upon the scene, seeing his momental friend was in a tight situation. Since his sight was now clear, he decided tyhat he would give into shooting once again.

And so he took one of his magnum out, knelling down as he rested one of his hand on the deadly trigger, and another on the butt of the charger. One of his eyes closed as he looked through the visor. He shoot once, hitting his target quite easily in the head. He learned it was the only way to defeat them. He made it look easy, but it is through rough years of practising in the art of shooting that he gained this deadly aim. Also, he had a bit of his own advantages... He would miss a shoot though, but he did cleaned up the job with the next shoot. Adris cleaned up around his friend, but he couldn't try aim for an enemy that was close to him. His taller mass made it impossible to determine if he was in danger of killing him more than his enemy. Click goes his weapon goes as he couldn't kill. He had skill some bullets left on him, but he guessed that it was better for him to go. With the noise that his shoots made, he was sure to be heard from his enemies, and his allies as well. Although, he hated to leave some behind, he would guess his friend would have preferred to be so.

" Good luck, mate. " He screamed once as he ran away from the scene.

He jumped through other roof top, having a bit more easier than his friend had since he didn't to support someone. He tried to orient himself towards where they were going before the sewer scene, but because how mouvemented the situation is, he was sure where to go. He decided with his luck, going toward the train station. After all, the gates ere probably closed so there wouldn't be, more monsters like that, and the fact it was preferrably safer to go there together instead of travelling through the town alone to get to the gates.

He would then hear a crash far away, and he hoped that his friend was okay...He ran towards the train station. He noticed an emergency staircase. He quickly ran down of them. He knew that he might not survive the fall. However, as he pulled up to the train station, he was soon aimed at with a gun. He quickly reached for his badge, which was in his pants and raised his hands in the air.

"Adris Dasul. Detective at ---"

"Yeah, yeah, can read you know? What I want to know is why you have this nasty wound of yours." The guard cut him off. Adris looked over his unfinished healed wound. As the guard said, it looked nasty.

"Long story short, one of my comarates threw me on a rooftop and I fell on my shoulder." It was true for his coat, but not the wound itself.

"Yeah, I don't buy it." He then looked over the other, screaming: "We might have a case here guys!" He then looked back at Adris. "I'm not finished with you, weither infected or not. Adris frowned, but he nodded softly, keeping a serious face

IMPATIENT NIGHTBLAZER

The puppeteer lowered his bracelet arm, having finished the call with Michael. Just as he turned back to the goblin, however, he suddenly saw one of the giants reaching up and gripping the side of the building. His mouth only formed half of a warning cry before the building they were standing upon was reduced to rubble, sending Thomas flying to the base of the building.

"Shit!" Thomas gasped, before leaping to his feet and dashing as close to the wrecked building as he dared. "Hey! Goblin! A-are you there?" He was instead treated to the sound of the giants roaring as they raced towards him. Biting his lip and cursing bitterly, the puppeteer turned on his heel and started running away, fully aware that he could not hope to run away from the giants like this.

Central Square was only one block away. Thomas' muscles were screaming, and sweat soaked his elegant, pale yellow clothes, but all he could think about was the goblin he had left behind. Just a bit further. I just need to get my puppet box back, goblin, and I'll show those bastards for what they've done to you, me, and everyone here who came just to enjoy this festival.

(OOC: Spotface was miraculously ignored by the cultists after the building collapsed, so he only has to worry about digging himself out. Of course, considering how long I waited before posting, I figure you've lost interest already.)

Michael nodded to the badger man. "Thanks for your help," he said with a polite smile. "Now let's go!" Ignoring the Huntsmaster in the black trenchcoat and the bunny girl who had just come out of the sewers behind them, he ran towards Central Square, making sure the badger could keep up at all times.

They raced past the guards, despite warnings being shouted at them, and dashed into the adjoining streets. Michael slowed down at each corner, peeking out to make sure the coast was clear before running down each alley and avenue. The last thing they wanted was to run into those cultist monsters. The attack had been taxing on everyone, and Michael knew how suicidal this was.

As he peered around another corner, however, he suddenly saw a figure in a yellow poncho walking in their direction. At first, Michael prepared to respond with an attack, but then he heard the whirring of servos and grinding of metal parts against each other. With a second glance under the hood of the poncho, he realized it was the robot he had been fighting alongside earlier!

The robot was in horrible shape. Its plating was charred and blackened, and it was stumbling along while dragging an ax on the ground, behind its back. Most of the left arm had been completely ripped off. "Oh, no..." Michael looked him up and down, before clearing his throat. "Erm. Glad to see you're alive--ah, I mean..." What was he supposed to say? It was a robot. Never mind. "Anyway, the train station is that way. Just a few more blocks."

After a slight pause, he asked with a more worried tone, "Also, are there still too many cultists now? My brother is still out there."

While Val was being dragged along by the kid, they stumbled upon that robot again.
He looked damaged, but Val knew nothing of healing robots.
He wondered briefly if the robot could use a splint to help itself move... no, wood would be too weak for the metal frame. Nevertheless, Val silently offered his staff to help the robot walk-- although it was probably too small to assist.

They were close to their goal, that fair-like place that Val had largely avoided before.
Val saw another diving past cultists, who looked similar to the boy. Perhaps this was the brother?
Either way, they were close-- with cultists ever closer, and Val's wind magic barely keeping the boy and him safe.
Time was definitely running out.
