This is a private Roleplay intended to introduce forum-based, highly-literate, role-playing. For these reasons it is a closed Roleplay. Thank you for respecting its privacy.

Post-Specific Rules:

• Character Art is encouraged, but please do not use pictures of real people.
• Pick a font (color, style, etc) for both yourself and your characters. Attempt to deviate from what other people have already chosen.
• There is no maximum or minimum word count for posts (I find that having a minimum word count tends to lead to brain-numbing exposition), but I encourage 'fullness' in descriptions.
• Please avoid image-heavy (or exceedingly long) “fluff” or "borders" around your post.
• Along the same lines... Please do not include your Signature in main story Roleplay posts.
• If talking Out of Character, please put double brackets (()) or [[]] or {{}} around your post, if talking more than a single thought out of character, please head over to the OOC thread (take advantage of the [url]OOC thread[/url] to announce important things!).

*I think the author of Misery Loves Company said it right, “Every character is to have a character color in order to differentiate the dialogue easily, this is for your convenience and it makes the posts look nicer overall. When considering your character color, please do not pick an obnoxious, retina scorching color that will be hard to read for the others.”

List of Terms & Common Signals

RP – Roleplaying Game, a game where people pretend to be other characters in order to tell a story. Roleplaying is the progression of children's games like “Make Believe,” or "Playing Pretend." With adults, Roleplaying is an outlet for creative storytelling, thought puzzles, and escapism.

GM – Game Master, the person who created and/or runs the Roleplay. This player is sometimes called the Dungeon Master (DM, from Dungeons & Dragons), or the Storyteller (various, notably Exalted).

PC – Player Character, the primary character of each player—the “main characters” of the story.

NPC - Non-player Character. Characters usually controlled by GMs. These are “side characters” that help to populate the world around the PCs. In Free-Form Roleplay (such as forum-based roleplay), players who are not the GM often create NPCs to fill in the world (these are often unimportant side characters who specifically interact with or are attached to primary PCs).

OOC – Out of Character, usually put before a sentence, or as a sub-heading within a forum. The text following the “OOC” declaration is from the person playing a character—not something that happens within the bounds of the story.

(()) - Shorthand for OOC, these brackets will surround short sentences or comments which are “out of character.” Some RPs frown on players adding OOC phrases in the main body of an RP (as there are separate threads for OOC chat). Use sparingly, unless it seems generally acceptable by the particular RP you are participating in. ((Example: This RP will probably have plenty of OOC chat within the main body of the story.))

Godmode, Godmoding - The act of taking too much power during a free-form game. The term comes from the tendency of new free-form RPers to have "god-like powers." Godmoding can also refer to doing things to other PCs (or other-player controlled NPCs) without their consent; such as killing, grievously wounding, or tricking them. The "correct" way of doing such invasive interactions is consulting with the "victim" before any action is taken within the Roleplay.

Mary Sue Character - Having a character which has no personality, but inexplicably controls the plot, cosmic powers, and/or has multiple character traits which would make her "the most specialist character ever." A Mary Sue character usually exceeds at everything s/he does.
