♦Hobbies♦
He loves to play piano and is rather talented at it.
He adores horse-riding and spends a lot of his time working with horses.
He spends a lot of his time researching his old life, finding out what happened to his friends and family.
He also looks at cases that the police struggle to solve.
♦Secrets♦
He honestly hasn't been in the 21st century long enough to develop any relevant secrets. However, back in his own time, one of his clients, a married, rich woman, had attempted to seduce him. He managed to get away from her, but didn't particularly want that known.
♦Origin of Powers♦
He loved to read as a child, but his intelligence always far extended beyond the average for his age.
♦Power/s♦
He has an eidetic memory and can read far faster than anyone you would normally meet on the street. However, while his abilities are beyond the norm, they are not superhuman. Edward has to fight with a sword, and on occasion, a pistol. His mouth can serve as a weapon as well, however, pinpointing a person's insecurities or secrets and using them against them.
♦Power Weakness♦
He is entirely human. His mind usually runs too fast, leaving him unable to function until he has finished the train of thought. If he's in the middle of a fight, this leaves him vulnerable to attack. It might mean that the heroes save the day, but it usually means that he gets a nasty beating. He also doesn't always deal that well with people, because his mind is constantly trying to analyse them.
♦Strengths and Talents♦
It takes a lot for him to lose his wits. He saw a green alien and continued on like it was just another suspect.
He is an excellent sword fighter, and is a decent enough shot with a pistol as well.
He's naturally fast and agile, meaning he can get to or away from the scene of a fight easily.
He's able to fight on horseback, and is a talented rider.
♦Weaknesses and Flaws♦
He doesn't sleep that well. The only place he can sleep is in the Masked base, where it is quiet.
If he is in the middle of something, there's no point in trying to get him to do anything else until he's finished.
He can't multi-task to save his life.
It takes him a little while to figure out modern technology.
♦Fears and Phobias♦
Big dogs terrify him. It's not just a case of him being nervous around them. If there's one anywhere near him, he will freeze until somebody either drags him or the dog away. If one chases him, it doesn't matter what else he is doing, he is high-tailing it out of there.
Tight spaces make him extremely uncomfortable. He's liable to start spouting whatever is in his head, and slowly deteriorate into panic until he gets out of there.
♦Aspirations♦
He wants to find out what happened to his family and friends, and see if he can track down any of their descendants. Although he would never say it, he's also partially hoping that he can discover a way back to his time.
♦Personality♦
Edward doesn't come across as the nicest person. When you meet him, you'll more than likely receive a stare that feels like he's staring straight into you. He won't shake your hand until he's finished working out as much as he can about you, or until somebody nudges him to snap him out of his reverie. If you attempt to offer any assistance, he will dismiss it out of hand. If you annoy him, even slightly, he's likely to do a little bit of psychoanalysis on you and spout a couple of things you'd rather not hear. If he is in the middle of working something out, or indeed, in the middle of anything important at all, and you attempt to interrupt you, he is liable to turn around and insult you.
However, when you learn to work with Edward, he's much easier to like. He loves to play word games with his co-workers, or issue them puzzles and watch them try to solve it. He frequently plays the piano to relax. He isn't one to tell jokes, and he often overthinks the ones that others tell him. He is a decent enough chef, as long as he doesn't get distracted and end up nearly burning the kitchen down. (It's happened.) He isn't that kind, or sweet. If you went to him crying, he would probably hug you awkwardly and spout a few random facts to try and make you feel better. But when he's not trying to figure you out or yelling at you for interrupting his train of thought, then there's something about him that's likable. He was raised to be a gentleman, and that is something that is stuck with him. He has the highest regard for women. It doesn't matter if he knows them or not, if somebody yells something disrespectful at a woman across the street, he will go over and tell them that their wife is cheating on them, or point out all of their insecurities. He will then go and make sure that the woman is okay.
But if you give Edward any reason to dislike you, then you'd better watch out. He will strive to learn everything about you that he can you use against you. He will insult you in every way he knows how. He turns violent at the drop of a hat. He could pull a knife on you and shove you against a wall after having been laughing with you moments before. Even if he likes you, he is extremely unpredictable. He can be manipulative, and if he needs to use you for his own benefit, he will. He will turn around and abandon you if he needs to, if it benefits him at the end of the day.
♦History♦
Edward was born into one of London's wealthiest families. He was the third in his family. His sister was older by him by two years, and his brother was older than him by four. In any other family, Edward would have been the least favorable. After all, his older brother would be the one to inherit the family's fortunes. His sister would marry another wealthy noble. But Edward's intelligence was prominent from an extremely young age, and his family started to show interest in him. He read every book he could get his hands on. His intelligence just continued to grow.
However, his intelligence meant that he struggled to deal with people. His brother and sister got engaged, but none of the women that he met showed any interest in him, or if they did, he screwed that up in a matter of seconds. His parents became exasperated with him, although he couldn't help it. He was damaging their social standing by analysing every single person he ever met. Even when he was horse-riding, one of the things he loved more than anything, he found himself over-analysing everything he saw.
His father was friends with the head of Scotland Yard. When Edward was seventeen, Scotland Yard encountered a case that they couldn't seem to crack. Out of desperation, the head of Scotland Yard asked Edward's father if Edward would assist them. Edward cracked the case in a matter of days. After this, Edward started taking on seemingly impossible cases. His reputation grew and grew.
Edward Claridge became synonymous with impossible crimes. Nothing surpassed his ability- until a string of strange murders came to his attention. It was the first time that he struggled to deal with a murder. However, he managed to work out the murderer's movement, and apprehended them. He encountered a large, green... thing. He didn't know what to think, but kept going anyway. The thing jumped through a portal, and Edward followed it. He found himself stepping into a new world that he barely recognised. A group of masked heroes awaited him, and he had to help them fight. However, the portal through which he had come was destroyed, leaving Edward stranded on the wrong side.
He was lost for a time. The heroes told him where he was and helped him to readjust. After a little while, he went back to London and got a job as a historical researcher. When he proved himself as somewhat of an expert in the nineteenth century, a coworker asked him to do a guest lecture. He ended up doing the lecture circuit, and became reputed as an expert on the 19th century. He found himself settling in, but still found himself missing the 19th century from time to time.
♦Extra♦
He doesn't drive, as he has lived in London and has never needed to.
