a character in “The Masquerade Mystery”, as played by SlightlyInsane

Description

Name: Abia Crane
Nickname: None
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Role: Princess of Nevea
What Kingdom?: Nevea
Personality: Abia certainly has her doubts about humanity. She doesn't believe that people are much better than pigs. Though her kingdom is the nicest and richest, all she can see are the negatives to it- the envy of others, thieves, and the possibility of war. All she wants to do is read or finally leave the palace and explore the rest of the world, which she's been sheltered from. She tries to keep her temper in check, though it sometimes fails. She is not fond of younger teens/kids, thinking that they're useless and stupid. She can be pretty blunt and usually says what she thinks.

History/Bio: Abia was the first of the two royal children. She grew up in the main castle in the capitol of the kingdom. When she was five, she was kicked by a horse and has refused to ride one ever since. Instead, she took up archery and commonly practices. She learned to read from an early age and was taught regularly up until her fifteenth birthday. That same year, she was moved from the main castle to her own castle on a cliff by the sea. She only goes home when summoned... or when there's sure to be lots of food.
Extra: She finds it amusing that she looks nothing like her brother.
Theme Song: TBD

So begins...

The two guards on duty looked down at Felix wearily from their tower. They knew how he was. The shorter of the two nodded to the taller one. "Yeah, she's here. Still asleep too. We don't want to disturb her."

"You must have a very loose term of 'asleep'. I've been awake for at least an hour." Abia smiled and looked down at her darling little brother. "Heading to the capitol too? It's great isn't it? Summoned against our will to create peace through a war. Maybe he's lost his mind... I'll be out soon." That being said, she turned around and disappeared, walking down the steps of the tower and entering into the courtyard.

The castle where she resided was much like the capitol- located on a cliff by the sea. Abia smiled and breathed in the salty air she'd come to love. She motioned to her maids to follow her out through the large wooden gates. Thankfully, being so close to the capitol and in her homeland, she didn't many bags. She'd packed as little as possible, assured that there would be a room and filled wardrobe when she arrived home. She wouldn't be surprised if Felix would be sleeping in a small closet.

"Forgive them- they're human," she told her brother. She carried a small pack on her back, which contained her mask and favorite books. "By foot or carriage?" she asked. She absolutely loathed horses since one had kicked her when she was younger, but they would get them there quicker.

Abia smiled, wondering if one of her less idiotic servants could concoct some sort of poison for the guards. But she wasn't the type to automatically kill somebody if there was a problem. At least she would be leaving now. She listened as Felix spoke, her smile turning instantly to a frown. She was 99% positive that he was doing this just to annoy her.

"Are you sure?" she began to ask, but then figured that her brother's stubbornness would prevent them from getting anywhere on time. It would be a pity to arrive last in their own kingdom. Abia sighed and adjusted the pack. "Fine," she said simply, then turned and waved up to the guards, hoping they would understand what she was trying to tell them.

Thankfully, they did and sent a white carriage out drawn by four white horses. Despite being the dark haired sibling, she was the one who loved white and bright things. She stepped up into it and sat down, then placed her bag on her lap and waited for her brother. The rest of her bags, only three, were place in a small storage space in the back.

Abia could only smile. It wasn't her fault that he was practically albino now, was it? The carriage jerked forward, causing her to bite her tongue. She grimaced and looked to Felix to respond to him.

"I'm sure you care so much. But if you must know, I've just been reading and shooting at the apple tree in the courtyard. I don't get many visitors. If somebody wants to see me, I'll just travel to the capitol. Nothing new. What about you?" She continued to look at him, though she did glance at the passing terrain behind him. It was still rocky as they left the castle and made their way onto the rocky path.

"And so the war for peace begins," Abia said quietly so that only her brother could hear her. "I was going to say food, or slain enemies, but you seem to have this situation under control. It must be interesting to see how you handle a real battle." She laughed and proceeded to sit down near her parents. "My apologies for his behaviour. We royals are stuck up horrible people, what stealing from the thieves. What a pity it is.

"But on a lighter note, I am happy to be in the heart of my kingdom to discuss the troubles between us all. I can understand your outburst Lien. And your brother's question was only fair. If I were away from home, I would be certain to make sure that the meat they consumed was strictly from farm animals." She smiled pleasantly at the too siblings. There was a bit of sarcasm in her voice, but most of it was her just saying what she thought. Except for being glad to see all these strangers of course.

"We're only human. We say the worst things sometimes," she finished softly, her voice remaining in a near monotone. Abia looked at her brother and smiled. She had his back, but if he screwed up too bad, there was only so much she could do. She loved Felix and didn't want him to ruin this for himself... or her for that matter.

Abia blushed a bit and was thankful to be wearing a mask. She'd meant to say ignorance, yet somehow had confused it with arrogance. Was she really that scared? No, she wasn't scared of these people, only of her parents. And horses. Good grief, she hated horses!

She snapped out of it just as Felix began talking. She couldn't help but smile, because it was true. He was an oxymoron, a natural disaster waiting to happen. Maybe that was why she didn't like fire either... She closed her eyes, thinking of a poem that would go alone with this. "Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night/ What immortal hand or eye/ Could frame thy fearful symmetry?/ In what distant deeps or skies/ Burnt the fire of thine eyes?/ On what wings dare he aspire?/ What the hand dare sieze the fire?"

She smiled and opened her eyes. She wasn't all mouth and hatred. She was a scholar as well. Although she was unpleased by Lien's brother's soft response, she decided not to pursue it further. These siblings didn't seem like much of a threat, but the other girl who'd snapped at them earlier did. Clearly nobody had listened to Abia's preaching in the midst of insults.

"My name is Abia," she said simply. She would have to give away her name sometime or another. "I'll let my brother speak for himself. He's quite temperamental if you haven't noticed."

Abia sighed heavily and looked at Felix. "No, because I'm not going to give you what you want no matter how bad you screw everything up in the end," she snapped at him, feeling more like her mother or father. But before she'd even finished, he was up and leaving. His chair clattered against the floor and echoed slightly, making her cringe at the sudden noise and stand up instantly.

"Excuse me for a moment," she said in a strained voice as she backed her chair away from the table. She turned and pushed it back in before noticing a boy in the corner. He could be dealt with later- right now, she needed to make sure Felix wasn't going to explode.

The brunette followed her younger brother out and did her best to shut the doors behind them. "Felix, I hate this as much as you do," she said in a low voice. "But right now, you are making us look more like idiots than we usually look. I am not ok with that and neither are Mom or Dad. If you want them to leave you alone, why don't you try keeping your mouth shut sometime, huh?" With that being said she whirled around and began to leave. "Join me if you will or go to your room or just somewhere! I don't care. I'm not letting these people mess with us in our own kingdom.

"You and I both know how humanity works- the privileged and the not. Those who are not tend to hate the other . We cannot go to war with Lorraine unless you really liked dangling by your neck from the gallows or having some foreign object through your body. If you enjoy that, than be my guest to piss everybody off." Not sure of what else to say or how he might respond to this, she left as quickly as she could, holding back tears.

She loved Felix, she really did, but he was just so difficult sometimes. Composing her self as best she could, she slowly approached the man in the corner. Abia looked at the ground and tapped him on the shoulder. "Would you like to sit down?" she asked in a weak voice.

Everything was a mess. Their meal surely wouldn't be any better. Oh, how she longed to run away and just fall asleep. But somebody had to rule the kingdom after her parents, and if it was Felix there wouldn't even be a capitol...

Keegan Ciel

Now that he didn't have to worry about his mask anymore he went to join the rest of the party and saw a brunette girl walk back in with a very displeased expression on her face. Apparently this reunion of kingdoms wasn't appreciated by anyone, but Keegan knew that he had to do something. He had to at least make a good impression of his crumbling kingdom.
"Hello, my name is Keegan," he went up to the girl and slightly bowed at her, though he didn't know that she was Abia Princess of Nevea, "Might I know who you are?"
Keegan could be a very gentle and gracious person when he tried but he had never shown it to anyone, not that his father cared or anything and he hadn't spoken to his sister until they had been invited to this party. Maybe he could do something right and this was his time to find out. He just wanted to have a chat with the girl, try and get to know her and maybe get out her impressions on his kingdom, Sercia.
