Description: "Perhaps a bit more attractive than a mercenary should be."
Razeluxe appears as a handsome young elf. His golden hair nearly radiates in the sun, yet the locks only reach just down to his cheeks. Perhaps do to his constant battling and conditions, it is never given a true style and is always seen unkempt and not tampered with, for good or worse. Soothing sapphire orbs decorate his otherwise flawless face just under his thin blonde eyebrows, each brilliantly shining as if they were a star. Small earrings, colored just as his eyes adorn each side of his head as his only form of jewelry.
Because he is part elf, Razeluxe does not seem to tan, but keeps a fair skin tone that doesn't necessarily leave much of an impression that he is a warrior who fights in the sun constantly. The same can be said about his athletic figure that seems more nimble than sturdy, though this may just be an illusion due to this height, an odd 5'11 that is likely a trait coming from his human side.
Clothing: "Practicality prevails."
Razeluxe is never seen without his trademark green tunic and cap, both proof of his elfen bloodline. Beneath the tunic lies but a simple long-sleeved white shirt and pants to go along with it. Fingerless leather gloves provide the bare-minimum protection for his hands, but allow his digits to remain comfortable enough to engage in longer fights. Likewise, he wears leather boots on his feet. Because of his light clothing, his fighting style dictates that he be more nimble than bulky in a fight.
Weapons: "A longsword is my best companion on the battlefield; swift and nimble as it ought to be."
Razeluxe almost exclusively sticks to using his family's sword, Hope's Edge. It is a blade made from a special steel found only beneath the woods around his village, providing a durability unmatched by most other weapons, at nearly no cost to the weight. However, the most notable trait about this blade is its conductivity of magics. Spells that engulf the blade in flames, ice, lightning, and all other sorts of magics do no harm to the blade, allowing it to be enhanced without worry of damaging it.
Skills/Abilities: "I'd say I've learned much already. But there is always room for improvement."
Superb Swordfighter - In combat, this is his specialty. He's not only been trained, but he's begun developing his own skills, strikes and counters. Always improving and striving to become better, he prides himself on this if anything. People who do not constantly seek to better themselves with the blade should not attempt to fight him one-on-one.
Agile/Swift - The best way to negate the damage from the blow is to not be struck by one at all. If that holds true, then Razeluxe is on the right track. He nearly dances around the battlefield, all of his motions are like a rehearsed play in motion. One swing of his blade morphs into the next and so on and so forth. Raze is very flexible as a fighter.
Well-Rounded - His strength with the sword is something you should be terrified of if you're the enemy, but he is not restricted entirely to this. He is a capable archer as well. He has bare-minimum knowledge of a fair deal of weapons, though he may not be as strong as normal with them.
Leader - When things go wrong and people need a person to take command of a situation, Razeluxe will suffice. He, being a veteran of many battles, has long ago ditched the inexperience of the novice and can make split-second decisions without fear, anger, or pride clouding his decisions.
Magics: "I've only mastered one class of magic, so don't think I'm a mage."
As far as magic goes, Razeluxe is lacking. He has decent healing magics and the ability to speak with animals which makes him very effective in a forest. However, he does excel at elemental enhancements. He has mastered this to the point where he becomes a serious threat to many foes the more he learns about them and their weaknesses. He can give his blade a holy light, an abyssal darkness, scorching fire, bitter frost, and lightning's kiss, increasing the damage of his sword by plenty. He may also discharge the element if he so chooses, but, of course, that is it for his magic.
Strengths: "Swordsmanship, of course."
Razeluxe excels in duels. His speed, agility, and skill with the blade make him a very stronger solo fighter, capable of closing the distance from he and his foe, or separating them as he sees fit. Even when engaged with multiple foes, he can still hold his own provided the numbers are not overwhelming. Being in close proximity to his opponent is where he shines, as he can unload strikes with his blade at high speeds with relatively great strength behind them. This, in conjunction with his enhancement magic, allows him to eliminate his prey swiftly.
Outside of battle, he can gather information easily. After all, many people open up to a pretty face, and though he doesn't necessarily care much for praise on that regard, he does not deny it either. But when looks don't suffice, he's easily able to intimidate people with but a swing of his sword. However, his persuasion skills diminish when darker methods are needed, as he is no criminal.
As a human/elf hybrid, he has an affinity with earth magic that does not take form as offensive magics like normal elves. However, though no invulnerable, he is resistant to them and it is wise for someone to use a different magic, such as fire or lightning, if they are trying to take him out.
Weaknesses: "I'm more suited to close-range fights than naught."
Razeluxe becomes less of a threat if you can keep him both at a distance and reduce physical damage. His skill with the bow is unmatched by many, but if arrows won't suffice and he cannot get into range with his blade, then he's more or less useless in a fight by himself. But the odds of completely nulling him as a threat are neigh impossible, so this might not be the best example.
He is at his best AND worst in a larger fight, where numbers play a big role. In all the confusion, his speed and strength will do him well to take out some of the higher priority targets, but this can backfire, as wearing no armor makes him susceptible to being focused down. His lack of heavy armor means he cannot tank blows and is easily felled if struck.
Aside from the resistance to Earth magics, magic works just as well as an arrow or a bullet against Raze. He is a person whose best defense is to not be hit, so when he is, almost no matter what, so long as it can deal damage, he won't be as well off as most.
Depending on how the information is used, his strange liking for strawberries can also be considered a weakness.
Personality: "Why don't you just talk to me and find out?"
Razeluxe, despite his history with trauma, harassment, and exposure to death, is composed of mostly positive traits that have allowed him to lead a group of mercenaries and keep them alive for some time now. He displays a stoic expression by default and keeps his composure in any and all situations that are deemed dire, so the risk of him losing his head in a figurative sense is almost zero. Even under the most intense pressure, he would not faulter in the slightest. Presented with a life-altering choice, he would merely take his time to decide what would result in the better outcome and choose, not wasting time by panicking. In fact, his reaction would likely remain so unchanged that people would wonder if he was even human to begin with. And with this ability to make decisions under pressure comes the swiftness in which they are likely to be needed; he does not dilly-dally with his thoughts, and can churn his brainpower fast enough to make competent plans on the go. In other words, he can think on his feet.
But Razeluxe is not just comprised of these traits. No, those are but the ones strangers who only get a glimpse of the man typically see. Employers, targets, threats - they all simply see the soldier in Raze, not the person.
He has emotions like all other people, despite the fact they're almost always hidden behind his leader mask. Although he has never and will likely never directly state such, to him, some of these mercenaries are the equivalent of family to him, and he'd likely risk his own life for theirs, contradicting what a normal merc would do. Raze attempts to be a kind person in some situations. He will spare a person's life if he sees no point or risk in letting them survive, and he would not commit atrocities nor accept missions that would result in such knowingly. But he also realizes exactly what he is, and will complete his missions without mercy as they dictate. His first priority is the success and survival of his fellow mercenaries, and this is able to cause some contradictions to his attempted good. To avoid making an enemy of a state, he'd dirty is hands just a little bit. Because of this attachment to his own group, he's sometimes considered a father-figure, especially towards the younger of the group's personnel, whom he often even scolds when he's disappointed with them.
Razeluxe is an independent person who does not rely on other, whilst allowing others to rely on him. He can be stubborn in this regard. Being unable to do something for himself is a easy cause of irritation for the young man. He views inability on his behalf as a weakness that needs to be fixed and constantly pushes himself to do better. Being a leader and living up to the expectations of the group is very serious to him, so he does not take a lack of anything on his behalf well at all. He realizes his decisions and instructions may wind up getting someone else killed, which would be worse than his own death as far as he was concerned. He knows all too well how nervous one feels when taking orders from someone you may not trust, and he does not want to be one of those people. That being said, he attempts to be on at friendly level with everybody in his group and will assist others should they ask, even if he won't allow them to do the same. His realization of his hypocrisy in this behalf is apparent.
The young elf, despite some of these traits, does not find too much trouble in social situations. He does not lack in common sense and is aware of most taboos of other races. He is not so dense as to need to be explicitly told something and picks up on social hints, although whether or not he'll heed them is another story. Raze will switch topics if he feels that they are bringing up negativity unless it is his intent in the first place. While he will seek the most righteous path rather than the most diabolical, it's safer to say that Rae is Lawful Neutral in terms of moral alignment, as he does not put as much emphasis into following the good path as he could. He'd rather have people think of him as a kinder person - those closer to him at least - but he is still a fairly selfish person who can't say he'd raise his sword to protect anyone and everyone. He, again, would certainly place his own interests above others if they had no way to compromise.
History: "My past's my past. I don't bother with it."
Unbeknownst to everybody he has ever met after departing from his home, the name 'Razeluxe' is not his actual name, but a derogatory title branded upon him by the very friends and family he had grown up and shared many memories with. You see, everybody has their roots, and Raze's happen to be fairly complicated. But perhaps I should start from the beginning of his life, in order to make things easier to comprehend.
Racism is quite common in the world, and were you to argue this fact, Razeluxe himself would have to put you in your place. Many years ago, despite the hostilities between their respective races, a human male and an elf female fell in love. As most lovers do, they copulated and Razeluxe is a result of this --- the first elf/human hybrid and quite possibly the only. While his parents may have broken through a cycle of distrust, hatred, and racism, the rest of each race did not. To everybody who learned of his actual race, Razeluxe was an abomination and a disgrace. He was unwanted by the elves of whom his mother belonged to, and he was shunned by the humans who his father had grown up with. This, of course, extended to each of his parents, and since the moment of his birth, Razeluxe was a burden to the only two people who ever really accepted him.
Growing up was about the hardest part of life, especially for him. He was discriminated against every single time he went into public, facing taunts and bullies who would even try to take his life. Add to that the fact his parents were also unable to find anybody who would let them work for them, and it proved to be a very, very difficult childhood for him. But these difficulties early in Dane Mireluxe's life only strengthened him. While he was upset that he was a 'failure' to his parents, he rarely (if ever) showed this to them, for fear of being an even greater burden. What right did he have to complain that they were poor, hated, and starving if he was the reason? Being the sum of everything people despise caused pain to his parents, so he had to do his best to put a good front on, for their sake. Dane was uneducated for a long time, academically. But the constant harassment scared both his parents and himself into learning how to defend himself, in case he was attacked. Many years before the young Dane was born, his father had been a soldier for the country they lived in for a small time. Dane's mastery of blades began when he was only 10 - his first time wielding a sword was against his father.
Fast-forward a decade.
Dane seemed to take well to combat, having learned everything his father could teach him long ago. He seemed to have a knack for how to swing a blade and use a shield, both skills his father had spent a much longer time learning and perfecting. He moved on to using a bow - his mother's skill. Her archery was fairly good, as expected of elves who often lived away from cities and instead in the forest with the animals. He was no robin hood, but he could also land some pretty impressive shots even when he was - compared to his mother's race, elves - but an infant. When Dane started showing his prowess with both a sword and a bow, his parents weren't quite too sure how to take that. On one hand, they would not have to worry about protecting him as much, because he was certainly more then capable enough of doing it himself. But on the other... well, he did not particularly show many signs of interest in other things, and the professions that swords and bows were used in were all too familiar with Raze's father. It was not unheard of for 'friendly fire' to happen on the battlefield, especially when one person dislike another, even for a simple matter of racism. Back then, this matter was big enough for them to be very concerned about his life. How are you supposed to fight if your 'allies' are also your enemies? It made his parents very hesitant, but no matter what they tried, Dane always seemed to be more interested in learning different techniques for his blade.
As you would imagine, he chose his profession based off of his talents. Namely; combat. And this would be the first hundred years of his life. Constantly joining one army and fighting. He held no attachments to any specific city, and the only time in this period he took a real 'break' was when his father passed away of old age. He was very close with his two parents and always had looked up to them. They broke barriers that to this day he had not seen broken again. They were strong, so strong, and he was weak, or so he'd convinced himself many times. Without his father, living in a human city (or rather, near one) was fairly awkward, and his mother was no fighter, so they decided to move just in case.
And then I decided the rest of his bio would be revealed later because might as well start this damn thing. XD
Other: "What else you need to know?"
He likes strawberries more than the next guy. Also, does 'murrica suffice, or need I put Freedom? They're the same thing, aren't they? #nationalism
