{ History }
Chris was born and raised on a small farm in Canada with her two older brothers. Chris only had her mother and brothers because her father was too much of an asshole to stick around for them but Chris didn't care, it was pretty clear that if she ever saw him she would probably punch him right in the face. The young woman worked hard as a child, both on the farm and at school. She had always taken an interests in plants and herbs but being raised on a farm that's basically all thats she surrounded by. She often got into trouble with her brothers and would come home bruised and scraped but with a huge smile on her face. The innocent smile of a child who just had fun playing out but that smile was soon to change.

As Chris got older she grew more and more independent, she knew when she needed help and when she didn't. She was kind to everyone she met and didn't think twice about helping someone in need. Chris was loved in her small town and her brothers were too. In her teen years her life was subtle and simple. She would come home from school, help her mother on the far then have some time to herself. She would repeat the process everyday until one day she came home to find the front door busted open and an unfamiliar car parked around the back. Cautiously, Chris made her way into the house only to find the kitchen empty. Her mother wasn't home because she had a second job at the bakery in town and didn't come home late.

The farm was a place that was surrounded by nothing but the fields and one road that lead right into and through the town plus it was odd that someone would stop here. Making her way through the house Chris found nothing out of the ordinary until she reached the living room where it clearly looked as though there was a struggle here. Some of the family photos were knocked over, the armchair was displaced and the glass coffee table had been shattered. With fear growing in her stomach, Chris ran up stairs to her brothers room only to find Hunter with his arms tied behind his back, gagged and kneeled down at the front of his bed. His head was bleeding and the look he gave her was of that of a warning but before Chris knew what was going on it was too late. The door was slammed behind her and behind her stood a tall man with ripped dirty jeans, a stained white shirt and a red truckers hat.

His breath reeked of booze and he was tattooed everywhere from the waist up. His hands were blood, her brothers blood no doubt and he only smiled devilishly. Chris put up a fight but it was no use, the man had an accomplice that by this time had already knocked out her brother so he couldn't do much. That whole hour that went by was the worst of Chris's life, she was beaten and used by them, she was able to knee one of them men in the groin but it was to no vale. At the end of that hour was when her brother and mother got home, they were alarmed by the state of the house so the first thing her mother did was grabbed the shotgun.

Nathan, Chris's other brother ran up the steps with his mother behind him, Chris heard this and let out a scream only to be silenced by a fierce slap to the face that put her out. Everything went by as a blurr, Nathan kicked open the door only to tackle one of the men while her mother fired the shotgun at the other. She shot him dead and Nathan nearly beat the other man to death, that was around the time when Chris woke up. All she saw was blood spatter on the closet door as her brother furiously beat the mans face in until he was pulled away by the cops. This all happened when Chris was 15, it took her a while to get back to her usual self, her happy self and that side didn't resurface until she was 18.

By this time she had already graduated and was living in her new apartment in town. She started college that fall and majored in Plant Science, she also had a part time job and was saving up for a car. Half way into her second term, Chris met a young woman by the name of Raegan who was studying music. The two hit it off pretty fast, one thing led to another and before you knew it a year later and the two were living together. The two did everything together but when her oldest brother, Hunter came to visit she would notice that Raegan would spend more time with him then she did with her. It was around christmas when Chris found out that Raegan was cheating on her with her brother, She caught them kissing and while her brother tried to explain Christina didn't want to hear any of it. She stormed out and walked the snowy city streets that night when a child ran across the street out of nowhere. Again everything was just a blur, Christina ran into the street and pushed the little girl out of the way of an oncoming bus, she was hit and killed.
{ Last Moments }
She was walking through the snowy city streets crying and depressed. There was a little girl that ran across the street in front of a bus to her mother but the child wasn't going to make it so Christina's body moved on it's own and pushed the child out the way only for her to be hit by the bus.

{ Positive traits }
Dependable- Chris can be extremely dependable, she'll be there whenever you need her. If you need something in the middle of the night? She has your back, need a shoulder to cry on? Chris will be there for you, just give her a call and she's there. Chris is a friend that will have her friends backs no matter what.
Goofy- Christina's goofyness usually serves as a relaxant to people. Whenever things may seem gloomy or sad, Chris can bring up the mood with the simplest of gestures that can make people smile or laugh. She of course doesn't know that she has this affect on people until they actually point it out to her.
Independante- From a young age Chris knew when she needed help and when she didn't. She never liked accepting help from others when she knew she could do it herself but out politeness and kindness she would sometimes let people help her. She may be a little rough around the edges like her brothers but her mother did raise her with manners.
Kind- The woman has always been like this, she showed kindness to everything from people to children and animals. She cried once for a whole hour when she accidently ran over a squirrel on the road.
Open Minded-Chris has always been the type of girl that never minded trying something new once. She isn't one to judge and doesn't care about her friends sexuality or religion or anything else in those regions. Chris only cares about the person inside and doesn't criticize.

{ Negative traits }
Protective- Chris is very protective of her friends, she doesn't like seeing them being hurt so she tries to prevent that but Chris knows what things she can stop what and what she can't.
Clumsy- Not something she would admit to so easily. . .though some find it cute.
Fiery- She has a quick temper, like a child's but she also has that glint of passion in her eyes.
Strong willed- Chris isn't that easily broken, she tends not to give up and hates the thought of giving up thus she doesn't know when enough is enough.
Naive- Her kindness is something taken advantage of and she is usually so naive that she would fall into other people's traps.

{ Personality }
Chris is a very relaxing soul to be around. She's funny, sweet and goofy things that people usually like in other people. She's very kind not hesitating to help someone in need, she can also be very brave. Even though she may be scared out of her mind she will stand her ground when needed. Chris is the type of person that will break up a fight by jumping right into it, she doesn't really mind getting a bit banged up because her childhood was all about wrestling and fighting with her brothers and playing outside so she was way passed use to it. The young woman can also be clumsy but she won't admit to it because she finds it a bit embarrassing.

Her goofyness isn't all that, that it would annoy a person it comes naturally for her and she usually does goofy things without noticing it. Chris is also very loyal and dependable, if you need someone to have your back well she's your girl. Working on the farm as a young girl and as a teen, Chris learned how to be independent and do things on her own, she knows when she needs help or not. Chris also pretty open minded about things and doesn't judge she finds it, unnecessary. Sometimes her fiery temper can scare off people but her strong will seems to drag people right back in, they admire that about her.

If you asked some people they would say that she has this passionate glitter in her eye and that she could be a bit over protective. To some it doesn't bother them but she has also lost friends because of it, she can't really help it though it's just how she is. Chris is a person who loves seeing people smile and laugh and would go out of her way just to make people smile and laugh. Her mother would say that she is a bit naive because she can be a bit too kind and people tend to take advantage of that. .

Small puffs of snow drifted down from the chilly night sky as Chris made her way through the crowded city streets. She angrily wiped her tears away as the steam from her breath was visibly clear on the cool air. How could she. . . with my own brother too! she angrily thought to herself as she kicked up some snow with her boots. Chris sniffled her nose red from both the cold and crying and her eyes were still damp but the cold wind threaten to turn her tears into icicles. Chris came to a stop at a crossing and she almost seemed to blend in with the crowd that surrounded her.

Sticking to the back, she walked when they walked but something had caught her eye at the last moment, right before she made it safely to the other side. A young child had bolted across the street and the light had just turned green for the oncoming cars. Christina's eyes grew wide and her body moved on it's own. She bolted after the child who had been disoriented by the headlights of the bus and came to a complete stop in the middle of the street. The bus showed no signs of slowing down but thankfully Chris got there in time and pushed the child out the way. It only took a second for Chris to hear the loud car horns around her as she was now the deer caught in the headlights.

The young woman took one final breath before everything went dark and the horns had suddenly stopped. Her body felt weightless and her eyes heavy, she felt as if she was sinking into darkness. Suddenly she felt a strong urge to open her eyes, her eyes slowly opened only seeing a light blue up above her and light shimmering above the water with faint shadows dancing across it.

Where am I. . . I-Is this water? Am I drowning. . .

Chris grew more and more aware of her surroundings by the second and went to speak only to swallow a bunch of water. Her eyes squeezed tight as the pain of trying to breathe where there was no air filled her mouth. She snapped out of her daze and gave a strong push from the bottom of the pool up towards the light. When she surfaced she gasped for air many times over and coughed out the water that she had swallowed. Those faint shadows that once danced across the top of the water was now in full view, they were people like her, thank god she thought. Running her fingers threw her now wet hair Chris slicked her hair back as she swam over to the edge and climbed out of the water not wanting to stay there any longer.

Chris sat at the edge taking a moment to catch her breath once more then it hit her, where was the child she just saved? Actually where was Canada period, unless Canada suddenly turned into a tropical paradise then where were all the people period. She only saw people around her age that she didn't see. Her green eyes began to scan the surroundings when the voice of a crying woman took her attention not to far from her. Looking dumbfounded for a second, Chris headed towards her and leaned down the edge grabbing hold of the womans hand to pull her out. " H-Hey, um don't cry please, I'll help you out, I promise I'll help you find out what happen to your baby. " Chris was no good with crying females, it made her nervous and feel bad but she couldn't just leave her in the water to catch a cold.

"If you stay in there you'll catch a cold. . ." she said in the most gentle voice before she looked up at the young fellow that sat next to the woman eating a banana. " Yo, pretty boy! The hell are we? " she asked him as the droplets of water dripped from her chin.

It didn't take long for her moment of solitude to end, but when Cassidy realized that the voice coming from behind her was Emery, she eased up. She appreciated alone time but didn't mind hanging out with him. In fact, she actually liked it. Emery was so easy to get along with that it felt natural to be around him. There was no unnecessary conversation or small talk, and Cassidy rarely felt the need to be defensive. They just clicked. At least when Effy wasn't around.

She smiled at his comment and accepted his offering of fruit, but remained silent and just watched him as he neared the water. Although the moment was literally the calm after the storm, she expected it to also be the calm before the storm. Before long, their group would be nearly double its size. Cassidy had grown up in a two bedroom trailer with five loud, younger siblings, her deadbeat mother, and depending on the day, up to three other drug-ridden deadbeats, so she was used to a crowd. However, she had escaped that when she died, and it wasn't something that she missed. The island was definitely big enough for another six people and Cassidy preferred to look at the worst possible situation than the realistic version.

"Let's just hope that Justin Bieber didn't die, and we have six preteen brats headed our way," she said with a small smirk. Almost as soon as the words escaped her lips, the water broke in the middle of the pool and a figure appeared. When she managed to reach the edge of the pool, she began to shriek about her car and then her baby. It was expected that the new arrival would be frantic. They had just killed themselves so emotions were bound to be running high, and waking up in a pool of cool water couldn't make things any better. However, when the woman asked about her daughter, it did seem a bit unusual. Although Oliver hadn't vocalized his thoughts, and Cassidy hadn't even noticed that he was standing a few feet away, she came to the same conclusion as him. The woman must have killed her child with her. The thought sent shivers down Cassidy's spine and she instantly disliked the girl. It was one thing to take your own life, but to kill your child too? Simply disgraceful.

Cass shot a disgusted look towards Emery. It was partly because of her realization, albeit false, that the woman had killed her own kid, and also because of the abrupt disturbance that the girl was causing. Emery was right: they surely were making a grand entrance. It didn't end there, though. Within seconds, two other people surfaced. There was a teenage-looking boy, who swam to the edge of the pool and in a much calmer tone, asked if he was dreaming, and a girl who, as soon as she pulled her self out of the water, tried to assist the frantic mother. The way she addressed Emery bothered Cassidy, but again, she knew that she should understand that these people were probably confused and scared. She shouldn't blame them for being brash, but she did.

"Do your thing, pretty boy," Cassidy said, winking at Emery playfully as she stood up and took a few steps away from the water. She was not a comforting person and didn't care to hear these people's sob stories, and her curiosity had disappeared a few seconds after the first girl appeared. She had heard Emery's spiel a few times before where he'd give the new person the rundown on how The Middle worked, and she didn't need to listen to it again. She planned on returning to her hut and then maying laying out on the beach for a few hours or going for a jog, but she spotted Oliver a few feet away and approached him with a friendly smile. "I don't even know their names and I can already say that I don't plan on befriending any of them- especially the loud one," Cassidy said with a roll of her eyes.

She was going to bring up last night's storm and comment on how it had been wild even by her standards, when Samantha appeared and wasted no time in approaching the new male. It wasn't surprising, really. Neither was Sam's flirtatious comment towards him, and her insensitive nature when referencing the boy killing himself. They had all killed themselves, so it wasn't like she was lying or even making light of the matter, but Cassidy disliked the thought of herself, or any of them committing suicide. It was something that she never brought up because she herself didn't want to relive her own experience, so she doubted anyone else would want to either.

Although she still wasn't in the mood to deal with a bunch of frenzied newcomers, Cassidy decided to stick around a bit longer. As she glanced away from Oliver for a second, she spotted another unfamiliar face appearing from the brush on the other side of the pool. It was another female who was clearly soaked as well, but Cass hadn't seen her come out of the water. She guessed that maybe the girl had arrived before any of them got there and had gotten lost in the jungle up until now. She seemed to be equally confused as the others but Cassidy didn't make an effort to greet or comfort her. That was Emery's job.

Donald had a lot of trouble sleeping due to the storm. The constant sound of the rain hitting the beach and the occasional thunder clap were more than enough to keep him up longer into the night then he'd wanted to be. He thought he would eventually get used to the storms since a storm meant someone else was coming to the island, but he never did. Donald couldn't push the memory of falling off the cruise ship out of his mind while they were going on. Eventually however, his mind became enraptured with happier memories of his former life and he drifted off to sleep.

By the time he woke up, the morning sun was pouring rays into his eyes as if it was excited as well to see the newcomer. With a loud yawn, Donald leaped out of bed and stretched his arms upward, almost touching the ceiling of the small seaside shack. While it wasn't much to most who ended up here, it was certainly enough for him and a welcome improvement from where he was before.

As he zipped up a pair of jeans he found on the floor, a loud scream from nearby pierced the atmospheric noise of the island, making him jump. Thinking quickly, Donald realized it must have been someone coming through the lake and dashed toward the bathroom. He threw open the bathroom door and grabbed the lone towel off it's rack, then spun in place and took another two steps towards the closest article of clothing he could find; a green aged hooded jacket. It's better then nothing, he thought and without wasting another moment he dashed out of his modest hut and towards the source of the noise. When he got there however, all he found were some fresh footprints in the sand leading towards the jungle. Not sure exactly where to go from here, Donald decided to head to the usual spot and see if their was anyone there. This idea turned out to be a good one when he was met with both familiar and unfamiliar faces.

"Yo, pretty boy! The hell are we?", one of the women shouted at Emery with a logical amount of alarm in her voice. He remembered his initial panic from breaching the waters of The Middle when he arrived. He remembered how bitingly cold the water seemed due to the surprise of being there and how desperately he wanted to feel warm again. Now remembering the purpose of the towel in his hand, he darted over towards the group, ready to meet some new people.

"It looks like Sam has you covered, new guy." he said with a bit of a smirk as he crossed through the newcomers to the two woman on the edge of the pool of water. Realizing that he only brought one towel, Donald with a sigh of disappointment decided to offer his jacket as well. With the towel draped over one arm, he quickly zipped down the zipper of his hoodie and slid it off his shoulders, placing it on the same arm as the towel. "I'm not sure how you two are with germs, but I guarantee they're both warm, at least." he said in a bit of a hushed tone as he extended his occupied arm towards the two, hoping they would accept his offer.

"Hughes."
"Hah. Got you just in time. Look, I've got to tell you something."
"Were you
sacked? Christ. Cormack, I did tell you that behaviour of yours—"
"D'you think I'd make this very, very special call to Engerland
just to tell you I've been sacked?"
"It's a possibility."
"I'm sorry to disappoint but I'm still paid to lull people into a semblance of security."
"Am I going to have a grandchild?"
"Hm. No. Sorry to say Becca isn't too keen on having one. Not with me, at least."
"Have you been evicted from your flat?"
"No! Why d'you think it'd be anything along those lines?"
"Tell me before I assume more."
"I've bought you a house!"
"Sorry, I didn't... quite catch that."
"I've. Bought. You. A. House."
"
What? Where?"
"About an hour away from where I live. I've already started work on it. It's a nice one. Small, great for when you get old."
"What about the paperwork? You can't just put me in a house and not expect complications!"
"I've sorted it out with Joanne in advance. Look, you'll make it here. They're all right with expats like us. You've got me, your favourite son—"
"Thankfully, my
only son—"
"—to help you. Ah, I know you love me in spite of your motherly exasperation, mummy dearest. Tell Becca about it. She'll love it."
"Mhm."
"Are you surprised?"
"One question."
"Yeah?"
"Does it have a garden?"

The fall seemed to last for an eternity, even as his body lay slowly dying amongst the cabbage roses.

Rocco was relaxed.

Perhaps this is one of those fever dreams. I've probably concussed. I'll wake up in a hospital bed somewhere after months in a coma surrounded by my mates. They'd have called Mum the moment they found out what happened to me. She'd come in screaming bloody abuse, then hug me senseless. Becca would hate me for it but she's calm. She can manage

That was all the justification he was afforded for the blackout. Before he even had time to think of other scenarios arising from having awakened from a coma, he was launched into something akin to a bad trip. He was quickly pulled from the comfortable warmth by some invisible force, back and forth like a twisted game of tug of war—or some form of medieval torture—and it seemed that that crumpled heap that was his body was losing fast. One last tug ensured his forcible removal. The skin on the fingers that grasped hard onto that last bit of life peeled away from it like cooked flesh sticking to the sides of a hot metal pan. It seemed almost amusing now, how conscious of what he wasn't able to do in life as he gave a loud cry, unable to stop himself from being dragged away into abyss.

The gentle thump of a bamboo raft against his head woke him. A ring of trees, rock formations, and beautiful blue sky came into view, which would have been very nice had it not been punctuated by the brouhaha.

"Toto," he said after finally coming down from the fit of coughs brought about by swallowing water, nonplussed by how loud his voice seemed to be, "I've a feeling we aren't in Kansas anymore." He paddled around in the water, scoping the area before swimming up to somewhere he could get both his feet on dry land. "But neither are we in Oregon. Well. Looks like we've wandered into an episode of Lost." He eventually found somewhere not too moss-covered and climbed up, flopping up onto his back with a huff before properly getting himself on his feet. He quickly pulled off the paint gloves he still wore and threw them down next to a nearby fern. If only he could get the damn pair of painter's overalls off.

Of course he wasn't alone.

Clearly the ones that were relatively dry were from here.

There was one surly blonde on a rock.
Here's Little Miss Sunshine.

Bananas wasn't too far from her munching away.
Is he really going to eat all those?

A sheepish-looking boy nearing a thoroughly soaked fellow.
Not that much drama here. Kid seems nice enough.

A brunette who seemed to be approaching them.
Right. Incoming. She's going to eat that other bloke alive.

All carried with them with an air of curiosity. Or suspicion.

The others seemed to be as equally confused as he was, if not more.

The dazed fellow.
Look out, mate.

One who cried out desperately for her child, which wrenched at his chest a bit.
Well, if she didn't end up here, then she must've lived.

One who at least tried to comfort her.
I don't blame her.

Another brunette with a massive trunk.
Wait, haven't I seen her before?

He forwent asking his first few questions to the smug fellow leaning on a tree, rushing over to the girl to help. "Looks heavy," he commented with a smile as he took one end of the trunk. "You don't mind, do you?"

Emery chuckled half heartedly at Cassidy's joke. He took another bite of banana before the calm morning was interrupted. The first person to emerge was a brunette woman screaming her face off. Emery wasn't totally prepared for the slew of people arriving today, let alone such loud and panicked one. Though his experience was a bit different than most, he remembered the anxiety that he felt when he emerged from the swimming hole. It was terrifying and confusing. However, he was also completely alone. There are no one to greet him and certainly no one to give him a towel. All he had was a sort of vague vision that explained what The Middle was. He understood what the woman was feeling he supposed, it was a lot of swallow.

His dark brown eyes caught the disgusted glance from Cassidy. His gut dropped. Great, now they were supposed to deal with a psycho. He swallowed his last bit of banana before watching as another came up, a younger male. Soon Oliver was there too, then Sam, and Donald. Everything was moving exponentially. They were appearing so quickly that Emery didn't have the chance to comfort each person individually. He let out a huff of air. He would have to do a blanket speech, trying to explain everything and keep a mob of people under control was going to be a challenge. From the corner of his eye he saw one girl had come from the jungle. He turned and watched her as she carried her trunk. He blinked. That wasn't supposed to happen. She was supposed to come from the swimming hole and her trunk was supposed to be in her hut. Everything was getting jumbled.

Emery lost himself in his thoughts, he was having trouble understanding why so many people had to come at once. He was also trying to wrap his head around the jungle girl. Then his train of thought ws interrupted by another woman who had appeared. She was beautiful, in the strong brooding kind of way. She called him Pretty Boy. A flick of annoyance hit him in the face. The nickname caught on for a moment as Cassidy called him the same. He made a face at her. He was conflicted with irritation from the pet name, and the fact that she had called him a pet name at all. Emery let out a silent, aggressive sigh. He would need the whole camp here to get these newcomers to cooperate.

Emery didn't even get to finish her banana. He counted heads quickly. There was still one missing. It was better to get the speech over with, and then explain it one more time for the lagger. Emery stood after Cassidy dismissed herself and took it upon himself to stand tall a top the large rock. From this spot he was high above the others and actually kind of looked like someone of importance. He always tried to think of the best way to get down the dry facts of the island but also provide support and comfort for the newcomers. The whole situation was a little bit different though.

Emery lifted his hand as he said "Everyone, please!" He waited for the chaos to simmer down a bit before continuing. He then put on his big boy voice, "I know things are very confusing right now but I need you all to remain silent and listen." Emery took another pause to wait for everyone to be quiet. When the moment was right he started.

"This is The Middle." He motioned around the island as he spoke, "This is your second chance." Though this wasn't the whole truth, it was always a nice way to start the speech. The second chance was supposed to be to live again, but Emery and the majority of the camp saw this new home as their saving grace. These newcomers seemed more distraught than usual.

"Here you will live and learn to forget." Emery furrowed his eye brows, here was the hard part. No matter what, it was hard for people to remember or admit that they had killed themselves. Most people were just angry that they were still alive. It wasn't fair, if you wanted to end your life you should be able to, right? That's why The Middle was such a mysterious place. You didn't have a choice, you were taking your pre-second chance no matter what.

"Please, close your eyes and try to remember where you were last. For some this will be easy, for others it might prove difficult." Emery wrapped his hands together as he continued "Whether you remember it or not," He cleared his throat, "You've killed yourself."

If this was a dream, it surely was a strange one. More people were showing up and he didn't recognize a single one of them. Another girl got out of the water and helped the upset mother to dry land. A guy approached them with towels and although drying off definitely seemed ideal, Charlie wasn't going to take the only towel for himself when there were girls there. The attractive blonde had left her seated position on one of the rocks and was walking towards a boy who appeared to be around his age. There was a brunette with a trunk who looked just as lost as he felt, and then another male got out of the water and walked towards her. Another brunette appeared a moment later, who approached him swiftly. She was definitely a pretty girl and her assertiveness was appealing, and had he only been focused on her flirty tone, he would have missed what she said. "Kill myself? What? No..." his voice trailed off as a deeper voice called the group's attention to him.

Charlie was struggling to take everything in, especially after the girl next to him had just accused him of killing himself. Never in his life would he have ever even considered suicide. When it came to mental illnesses, Charlie was as ignorant as they came and he was the type of person who associated suicide with maniacs. He wasn't one of those people. Everything was going well in his life and he was supposed to be alive. However, the guy who was speaking seemed to believe that he and the others had killed themselves, too. That was impossible, but Charlie didn't know what to say or do. This was beginning to feel like more of a nightmare than a dream and Charlie just wanted out. "What the fuck is going on here? I didn't kill myself and I sure as hell don't want to be living with a bunch of lunatics who did." His tone was angry but hushed as he addressed the girl who had approached him earlier. She seemed normal. He hoped that she could give him a more direct answer. Something better than the idea that they were living in some "second chance" world.

Samantha was surprised when the boy reacted so surprised and angry when she referenced him killing himself and then when Emery said it again. Her conceited nature couldn't grasp why he wasn't giving her his attention and was lashing out on something that was so meaningless now. Although it was wrong to rate everyone's situations, when it came down to it, Sam probably had the least amount of justifiable reasons to have killed herself. She was eighteen years old and hadn't even finished high school yet. She had an entire life ahead of her but a silly breakup combined with drugs, alcohol and her need to make a scene resulted in the thoughtless move. She was just as emotional when she arrived in The Middle but she had gotten over it fairly quickly. Ford helped with that, a lot, and Sam felt like she would give an even better first-night welcome to this boy than he did to her.

However, she did not appreciate the attitude, especially when he basically called her and the others lunatics. Had he not bunched her into that group, she probably would have agreed that most of them were lunatics, but he didn't know any of them enough to decide that himself. Even though she wasn't keen on his harsh statement, Sam was still going to go for him. She had a tendency to go after the jerk type of guys on Earth and it wasn't going to stop her now, especially when there were no better options. "Oh my God, calm down. Those two are like the only lunatics here," she said to Charlie, nodding her head in Cassidy and Oliver's direction. She spoke quietly but didn't necessarily make an effort to speak quietly enough where she was sure the two wouldn't hear her. She and Cassidy had never gotten along and she didn't like Oliver much more, so she didn't mind giving Charlie a bad first impression of them. When Effy walked over and took a seat on a rock near her, she couldn't help but to comment to Charlie about her as well. "And her. She's crazy too, but everyone else is normal." For the most part, Sam got along with Effy, but she wanted to make sure that Charlie wasn't going to take interest in her or Cassidy.

The boy holding one of the girls' trunks made a comment to Charlie but between his English accent and the vocabulary he was using, it might as well have been a foreign language to Sam. She definitely thought that the accent was attractive but wished that he was a few years younger looking. She had went for older men before, but this guy appeared to be ten years her senior and that was probably pushing it. He seemed to be nice enough though, and definitely less volatile than Charlie. As she scanned the rest of the surroundings, she considered approaching Effy and striking up conversation to determine whether she was going to be in a good mood or not, when she caught Cassidy and Oliver looking in her direction. What could have just been a curious glance was instantly taken as a judgmental glare by Sam. "Oliver, you should be a gentleman and do..." she paused, searching for something to complain about, before giving up and finishing the sentence with, "something instead of just standing there uselessly." Donald was helping people with towels and the new boy was helping the girl with her trunk. Besides emotional comfort, there didn't seem to be anything else to do besides show them their huts, and that seemed like it fell under Emery's role. Still, she wasn't going to let them stand there and judge her. Besides, there was never too much drama in Sam's world.

To say Macie was confused was a giant understatement. First she had pieced together that she died, then a man with an authoritative air began to talk about how they had all killed themselves.

Macie blinked then shook her head.

'T-That's impossible...I wouldn't do that...at least not now.' It was true when Finny had left her she seriously considered taking that final plunge, but she would end up killing her child upon doing so.

Slightly more vigorous she shook her head again. 'I...I did die. I remember that. I was taking my daughter to her daycare and a...a driver was going the wrong way...' Her voice was starting to get shaky and tears pooled at the edge of her eyes.

'They were obviously d-drunk. Who else would d-drive head on in...into traffic like that?' A few gasping breathes were heard before she continued. 'I-I knew I couldn't move so...so I wanted the last thing I see t-to be my daughter!' By now Macie was full on crying into her hands.

'B-but she's alive...right? Cause she's not here with us?' Macie shook her head and took a calming breath. It didn't help much but she did look slightly better although her crying didn't stop. 'No....she's alive. I can't tell...'

Shivering she turned to the man who had appeared after her. 'You shouldn't be so rude to people who killed themselves. You don't know what they had going on. I....I'm sure everyone will understand if we all just...Calm down and let the people who have been here longer speak...'

Charlie was getting angry, but even if he wanted to do something about it, it wasn't like he could beat the truth out of anyone here. Besides the girls, only the boy standing next to the blonde looked like he would be manageable in a fight, and he was apparently in on whatever was going on, so Charlie was sure the others would step in. He also knew that his anger shouldn't be directed at these people. They really hadn't done anything wrong and what he had said was insensitive, but he didn't know what else to do. It didn't help when the soggy man carrying the trunk and the woman who had been crying about a kid tried to calm him down. He wanted real answers, not some nonsense about how this was a new world. If he was dead, he should be in Heaven. If Charlie was sure of anything right now, it was that the boy standing on top of a rock definitely was not God and that even though this place was nice, it wasn't where he should be if that subway had hit him like he remembered.

The leader figure announced in a kinder tone that essentially, there was nothing that he could do to help them. Although this wasn't what he wanted to hear, Charlie relaxed a bit as well. He felt like there was no other option that to just go with the flow for now. He would go through the process of finding his hut like the man explained and maybe there would be some answer there on what was going on. Charlie couldn't get the last images of the subway tracks out of his mind but even as he began to come to terms with the fact that maybe he really had died, he still didn't understand why he had ended up on this island. Even more so, he was confused on why he was being mistaken for someone who had committed suicide. Not even the pretty girl beside him could hold his attention now. He mindlessly nodded as she spoke to him, not processing her insults towards two other dry people. There was too much going on for him to want to flirt back but part of him felt like maybe she would be a necessary alliance in more ways than just some fun. She did look to be sane and it couldn't hurt befriending someone who knew the ins and outs of the strange place.

As the man who had been speaking to the crowd approached the smaller group and began to converse with them, Charlie turned back to Sam and offered as much of a smile as he could conjure in state. "Would you mind showing me to the huts he was talking about? I'm Charlie, by the way. Charlie Brighton." He hadn't caught anyone's names so far in all of the confusion and although he was still hoping that this was all a dream that he would be waking up from any minute, he figured an introduction would be necessary for the time being.

Everything was happening very quickly. The new arrivals were either panicked or upset and a lot of frustration was being thrown all over the place. "What the fuck is going on here? I didn't kill myself and I sure as hell don't want to be living with a bunch of lunatics who did." the boy shouted at the group, the term 'lunatic' piercing Donald's thought process from the rapid noise of conversations happening around him. "Wow, new guy. Way to make friends right away." he said with as heavy a sarcastic tone as he could muster. The kid wasn't probably that bad, but still, he reminded Donald of some of the entitled jerks he went to school with who didn't know anything about the world besides their parent's credit card number.

When he finally snapped back to reality, the first thing he noticed was Emery going off on one of the new guys. This one seemed like he could handle himself in a fight if things got physical, which worried Donald a bit. This hadn't been the first time Emery has lost it and it most certainly wouldn't be the last. The leader of the group could feel like a strong, caring influence one day and a tyrant the next and while Donald wasn't a fan of the latter, he understood where he was coming from considering his past. Luckily however the situation dissolved and Emery backed off the man, suggesting they should show the newbies to their huts. It was actually around this time that Donald heard the familiar and vibrant screech of Anna coming from nearby. It didn't take long before she was attached to his bare arm like a magnet. This was a common occurrence with her and Donald was quite alright with it. Before long however, she streaked toward the the crying woman and tried to comfort her.

"Oh my... Seems I've arrived at the wrong moment..."

"Don't worry about it, Annalise." Donald said as he moved over to the group now forming around the concerned mother. "Oh yeah, names. This lovely woman to my right is Annalise, you've kinda already met Emery, and I'm Donald." he spoke loud enough for most others to hear him as he gestured to each respective person. "We also have Samantha who, as you've seen, is great with people, Oliver who is a bit shy, but still a nice guy, there's Effy who's...you'll see, and Cass who is the one with the scowl which she has, honestly, a lot of the time, but you'll learn to love it."

After helping the young mother out of the water and watching her move away, Chris sighed and plopped herself down by the edge once more. She smiled up at the man who offered her his jacket but only shook her head and took the towel instead thanking him. Chris lowered her head as she rubbed the towel against her hair in an attempt to dry it. Chris began to drift in and out of the conversation at hand. She was out of it and was spaced out staring at the pool of water as she only heard bits and pieces of the conversation going on. Chris was silent as she sat there with the towel around her shoulders spaced out for a good 10 minutes, right when everything began to die down.

Snapping out if it the thought suddenly hit her, what happen to the little girl? Was she saved? She wasn't here so she must have lived . . .
Nodding her head in conformation Chris smiled a bit. Yeah! Of course she lived! She had too! With that she stood up and looked around everyone seemed to be socializing but Chris wanted to get changed out these wet clothes. Her eyes scanned over everyone looking for the friendliest face that could probably show her the huts that the leader guy was talking about. Her eyes had landed on the redhead who seemed to be very cheery and just her cheery face made Chris perk up a bit and smile as she walked over to her.

"Hey there cutie," Chris smiled her usual goofy smile as she waved. She always thought of pet names for people right on the spot, even if she didn't know them and cutie just seemed to come out naturally. " I'm Christina, I was wondering if you didn't mind showing me to these huts? I would really like to get out of these wet clothes before I catch a cold. " Chris like the aura around this girl and she looked friendly enough to talk too so she went for it with confidence.

The tension seemed to die down with the finish of Emery's speech. This was only the began, though, and Cassidy knew better than to expect that things would be flawless now that everyone understood, for the most part, what was going on. Just because Sam's new catch had calmed down and walked off with her didn't mean that he wasn't going to still be a dick, and just because the wailing mother's tears had subsided didn't mean that she wasn't still a maniac. Six new people meant that there would be a lot more noise and a lot more people to annoy her. It would take some getting used to, especially on Cassidy's part, but she hoped that they would at least keep their drama and problems away from her.

Emery stepped town from his makeshift stage and began to speak with the mother and the woman who had called him pretty boy. She couldn't hear what they were saying and she mostly didn't care. He had to be nice to everyone; it was a responsibility that came with his role. Although there was still one new person missing, Cassidy had quenched her curiosity and didn't feel the need to wait around all day to see the last new person. They would be living together for, well... forever, and knowing the person for a few extra minutes wasn't worth the frenzy that the first few minutes brought on.

"I won't disagree with you on that," Cass murmured in response to Oliver's prediction that headaches would be a lot more common now. "I'm going t-," she began to excuse herself from his company when the crazy mother separated from her group and headed straight for Cassidy. She met the girl's gaze and even though she saw it coming, she was surprised that the girl had the nerve to approach her, and then call her Cass. She had overheard Donald introduce her as that so she really couldn't blame the girl, but they definitely were not on a nickname basis. Although she noticed that the girl held out a hand for her to shake, Cassidy didn't acknowledge it. She wasn't trying to be a "mean girl" or bitch, since Effy did well enough with that role on her bad days, but she still wasn't fond of the girl at all, and Cassidy was never one to hide her feelings. "Didn't you hear Emery? You already got your chance to start over today," she said plainly. She held her gaze for a moment before turning to Oliver. "I'll catch you later." She gave him a small, but genuine smile before swiftly turning and disappearing into the brush.

The woman with the child seemed sincere, but she didn't take the time to introduce herself or exchange anything more than a thank you. Emery thought it odd, but wasn't going to fuss over the idea. She probably didn't want to talk with him, currently he was portraying a sort of bad guy. People didn't want to hear the truth, but Emery had to deliver it. It also did't help that Annalise was making her entrance. Without any delay many of the new comers were drawn to her. And that was of course because she was an absolute ray of sunshine. So bright that it often hurt Emery's eyes. But he didn't mind the slew of new residents being welcomed by the current ones. In fact, he found the whole scene very nice. Things were settling well enough.

Of course there was still a straggler, but Emery was more than capable of introducing himself and The Middle to just one. Emery watched as the two English newbies conversed with each other, as the two women who had been in the pool together went toward Annalise, and the new boy toy get eaten alive by Samantha. He rolled his eyes at the last one. She was always trying to catch something. He started to take note of names. Rocco was the English man, the boy toy was named Charlie, and the woman with short brown hair was named Christina. His focused turned to Cassidy as the woman who he now learned was named Macie approached her. Powerfully and classically Cassidy she dismissed the woman and made her exit. Emery wanted to smirk at the situation but refrained. He then walked toward Macie and gave her a couple of words of encouragement, "Cassidy isn't always like that... She just takes some getting used to." She also takes her time with making friends with people, and if you aren't worth the effort you just aren't her friend. At least that's how Emery understood it. She was far too complex for Emery to fully understand, but he was fairly sure that he knew that much.

He offered a friendly smile to Macie as he moved toward Rocco and the girl he didn't know. They weren't being helped and needed to do something. "Do you two want me to show you around?" he asked simply, finally stopped in front of them. "I'm Emery, by the way." He shot out his hand, letting whatever sour feelings he had toward Rocco sink away. He needed to make a neutral playing ground before judging someone too harshly.

Anna rolled her eyes playfully at Donald's introduction of her. "Don't be silly, Donnie! You're much more attractive then me," Anna joked as she stood on her tiptoes and reached up to pinch both of her friend's cheeks like her grandmother used to do to her whenever she'd come over and exclaim 'My, you've grown so much!'. Thinking of her family caused a flash of pain if her heart, but it was soon replaced with joy as she turned back to the woman who'd been crying.

"Macie's a very pretty name! And don't worry, I'm sure you'll get used to the island in no time! It's really not such a bad place," Anna smiled brightly and gave the woman an encouraging hug before she watched Macie make her way over to Cassidy. Anna smiled warily after her, she wasn't exactly sure how a conversation between the two would go, but she was positive that Cass wouldn't say anything to rude. After all, they'd only just meet and Macie seemed really sweet.

"Hey there cutie," Anna turned back around and smiled cheerfully at the girl now introducing herself. Her grin only got bigger as Christina asked Anna to show her to her hut, and Anna nodded happily. "Of course! How could I live with myself if I allowed someone to catch a cold?" Anna asked as she scrunched up her nose and shook her head as if the idea was simply ludicrous. Of course the thought that Anna wasn't exactly alive anymore anyways never even crossed her mind.

Anna linked her arm with Chris's and began to lead the woman toward the beach, not caring that her arm was instantly wet. "My name's Annalise, by the way. But you can call me Anna." Anna could tell that the two were about the same age, and she wondered silently what could have caused Chris to kill herself. The woman seemed plenty cheerful, and Anna was pretty curious, but Chris hadn't asked Anna why she was here, so she didn't ask her.

As Anna continued to lead them down the beach towards the huts, she turned to look up at Chris and grinned. "You know, you kind of remind me of Bambi!" Chris's green orbs and pretty brown hair caused Anna to recall the animated deer. She remembered watching Disney's 'Bambi' a lot after her parents died, although it wasn't the most entertaining movie, Anna had felt a connection with the animated Disney character. He had helped show Anna that even though she'd lost her parents, she could grow up to be strong, just like the little deer had.

"I have a stuffed animal of him in my hut, it was one of the things I found in my trunk when I- Oh! That's right! You need to open your trunk to! I can't wait to see what's inside!" Anna couldn't help but grin as she squeezed Chris's arm, hoping she was keeping up with the ginger's babble.

When the two reached the six new huts, Anna released the woman's arm and motioned to the empty homes. "Here we are! I wish I knew which hut was yours, but sadly I don't... So it looks like you'll have to go searching for your trunk," Anna smiled warmly at Chris. Anna wanted to help, but she didn't want to intrude on Chris's first real moment alone. It was this moment where everything would really start sinking in, she could still remember the feeling clear as day, Anna had spent most of her first day alone in her hut crying.

As Anna began to head back to the others, she noticed someone sitting on the railing outside of their hut. "Ah! Ford!" Anna called out as she hurried over to the man, a bright smile on her face. She waved cheerily at Ford before looking down bashfully. Only to remind her that she was still in her pajamas.

'Great, Anna. Just great,' She mentally scolded herself as her face flushed a color resembling her hair. She hadn't even put on shoes this morning in her rush to meet the new arrivals, and she now hurriedly brushed her fingers through her hair, praying that it looked ok.

Hiding her blushing face, Anna tried to recover. "S-So, why are you over here all alone? Everyone is over by the waterfall getting to know each other at the moment..."

Donnie endured the slight embarrassment of Annalise pinching his cheeks. "Don't be silly, Donnie! You're much more attractive then me." she said in a joking fashion. As soon as she let go however, he answered with a kind smile as the mother introduced herself.

"I'm Macie O'Connell. Nice to meet you all....even with what's going on." Macie said, looking to each of them with a warm grin While she had a beautiful smile, he couldn't help but think about how she must have felt. Donald didn't have any kids. He didn't even have any younger nieces or nephews, but if he did he couldn't imagine what it must be like to be separated from one of them like that. What he could think of however was the possible ways that she and the others ended up in the Middle. Sure, some people didn't remember offing themselves, but they were never this insulted or, in the case of the guy Sam was helping, insulting about the idea.

Before the writer could speak any further, Macie had already headed towards Cass. What the hell is she thinking? he thought to himself as the other woman who introduced herself as Christina approached Annalise. She quickly leaped at the opportunity to show her around and the two were off. It was then that Donnie looked back to check on Macie, who was by herself as Cass had no doubt walked off and Emery was helping the other two new arrivals. Tying his jacket around his waist, he approached Macie with a confident stride. "I could help you find your hut if you're ready." he said gesturing into the thick jungle near them. "...and don't take what Cassidy said personally. She's not as open as some of us."

Just as Ford had expected, the others were beginning to return from the waterfall. First came Sam and a boy who looked to be her age. They separated when they reached the new huts, but not before the male turned back to thank her for her help and to claim that he "owed her one". Ford tried not to think anything of it. Although he and Sam did hook up occasionally, he convinced himself that that was all it was: playful hookups to help pass the time. There probably were no real feelings between he and Sam, but he still would be offended if she started to mess around with that kid over him. If not offended, at least a bit embarrassed. He considered calling out to her once the boy had closed the door behind him, but more emerging voices caught his attention.

As he peered towards their direction, he made out an unfamiliar brunette and a very familiar redhead. Annalise was notable in more ways than just her unique hair color. She was the definition of exuberant and possessed the seemingly rare ability to look at everything in a positive light. Based solely on her personality, Ford felt like it would be hard for anyone to dislike her, but add in her beauty and it seemed impossible. He instinctively smiled even before she noticed him and came over, but when she did approach, he didn't make an effort to hide his grin. Ford was known for being pretty relaxed and goofy, so it wasn't out of character for him.

"I woke up late and figured you guys could handle the six of 'em on your own. Hell, I'm sure that Cass and Effy could've given the bunch a warm welcome on their own," he joked, somewhat surprised that he didn't see either of the girls on the beach. Cassidy seemed to just be naturally unfriendly and if Effy was having a bad day, she was probably worse than Cassidy, so he was surprised that both girls would be making an effort to greet the new people. He hopped down from his seat on the railing and took a step towards Anna. "So, how do they all seem? Gimme the 411."
