A good word to explain Sydney would be distant. She'd much rather be left alone, and when forced into social situations, she closes herself off, hiding her discomfort using clever quips and quick wit, mildly hoping she could push them away.
She likes seclusion probably because she felt she never belonged anywhere, especially lately. She despite her bravado and false pride, doesn't want to be alone, she wants to feel wanted, and loved.
Despite this, she can surprisingly read people, pretty well and can easily figure out them out.
Once you get to know her, Sydney can be really sweet, sometimes playful and an all around a good friend.
She can also come off as a bit smartass, she doesn't mean to but she tends to want to let people know that she knows something, and it rarely comes out right.
