What if the history you thought was real was made up? What if there were other worlds? What if those other worlds didn't want you to know about that history?

Introduction

A bunch of English college students (YOU GUYS!) got together and started a role-playing group. You know, Dungeons and Dragons 1st Edition, dice, paper, pencils, etc. Intense role-playing nerds. You became fast friends. Of course, you soon left college and went about your lives. Years passed, and soon the little D&D group was nothing but a fond memory. Some of the players kept in touch, but hardly at all. However, after all that time, you each receive a letter in the mail. It has international postage on it, and your name is written in somewhat familiar handwriting on the envelope. You open the envelope and inside it is some very old, folded up notebook paper. Scrawled on it is the following message.

Hello, old friends! I know it's odd that I'm writing to you after all this time, and not using e-mail, but I don't think I can trust the internet. As some of you know, I am now an aspiring archaeologist. I went back to America and started a dig. Alright. Now to the part none of you know. About a week into the dig, archaeologists and other workers began to disappear from the site without their belongings, their car, anything except for what they had on them when they were last seen. Soon, the site was closed down. One of my friends told me that she was going to the site to check it out. I told her not to, but apparently she did anyway. Sure enough, I haven't heard from her since. Nobody has. I became really worried, so I went out there to check it out. I don't want to say what I found there, in case anyone else gets this letter, but I'll tell you later. Inside this envelope are plane tickets to America so that you can come here and help me. These tickets will get you to the right airport, where I'll be waiting. I need you to come, because you're the only ones I can think of who will believe me. I'm sorry I can't explain more, but all I will say is please come.
Your friend in need,
Shelly

Shelly. Shelly McDougal. She was that weird American student who, while studying abroad, became part of your old gaming group. She used to game-master almost every time, because she always had such inventive ideas. Turning the letter over in your hands, you recognize the paper as your old character sheet from that short time in college. On the back is the familiar, "Name, Race, Alignment, Level, Character Class, Str, Int, Dex," etc. with your old character's information all filled in. Sure enough, in the envelope is one plane ticket to the States.

This roleplay will start right after you read the letter, so that I know if you take anyone with you to America (only if your character is rich enough to buy another ticket), what you take, how you go, etc. Please don't go farther than getting off the plane.
