Though still fairly young at twenty-four years old, Caine stands at six foot one, with an athletic build slimmer than average, though not noticeably so. His brown hair is difficult to manage, but he doesn't care how it looks at long as it stays out of his face. He cares minimally for his appearance - as long as his clothes fit, and are clean, he spends little time on them. He usually wears whatever shirt comes to hand first and has an endless supply of plain black trousers with deep pockets. His eyes are blue but often darkened by a pensive stare. He has a naturally serious face, and generally smiles in two ways: either a long, amused smirk, or a brief, sudden grin that is both rare and heartfelt. He is usually inconspicuous and moves quietly, and only speaks when he has something worth saying. He can be hard to read at first, but those that know him well can easily predict his moods even if they can't see them on his face. His gestures are contained and languid. Although his voice is usually a pitch below normal volume, if he is riled up he is inclined to shout. He delivers sarcastic or sometimes snide comments with a mild, casual tone that belies his cutting words. He has several burns across his hands and arms. There is a noticeable chip in his left front tooth.

Personality

Personality: Confident to the point of cocky, Caine does not claim to be a complicated person. He regards people as either respectable or inferior. If he respects you, he treats you accordingly, values your opinion (although his is right, of course) and will easily engage in serious conversation. He is less likely to be sarcastic unless he feels something inane has been said. He has more patience with the people he cares about, trusts them, and though he is not an open or particularly empathic person, he is slightly more considerate in his actions. However, no matter who you are he will not sugar his words. He is always straightforward, and hates keeping secrets, but accepts that some things are more important than his desire to be honest, as he has a strong sense of practicality and never pities himself or others. He is set in his ways and very competetive, especially when challenged directly.
If Caine does not respect you, you know it. He is patronising, aloof, and pretty annoying. He spares little thought for your feelings and has no patience for stupidity. He is quick to judge whether or not a person is worth his respect, and it is hard to earn it if he has a bad first impression of you. He has no tact, nor does he wish to, is at all times blunt and often speaks his thoughts outright. He does not often laugh, but will snigger. His mood is always improved with Fiona around, with whom he is more thoughtful, though he does not believe in changing himself and will deny any improvements in his behaviour. He is not romantic in the traditional sense, but has no qualms about plainly expressing his feelings towards her or anybody else. Yes, he loves her more than anybody else and would happily die for her. Problem?

Likes: Fire, honesty, peace and quiet, himself, late nights, summer, hand-to-hand fighting, winning.

Dislikes: Humidity, noise, manipulative people, backchat, pity, cowards, being thanked, losing to Fiona.

Equipment

He usually has some form of kindling on him, whether its twigs or sheaths of paper.

Power: He is able to set fire to things on touch, and is able to conjure the heat and smoke of a fire separately, a skill that he developed over time. However, this must issue from his body and he is unable to start fires on burnable objects that will not give off smoke. Simply conjuring flames in his hands requires energy. If the fire is 'attached' to him in this sense, it will only burn what he wishes. He also has a bit of healing ability and can wipe out any first-degree burns, along with cuts, bruises and grazes, as long as he has physical contact with the wound.

History

History: From a young age Caine's father taught him fire witchcraft in the country, having inherited a fortune from his own parents. Caine was the oldest child, and had three sisters, four, six and seven years younger than him. His mother had died giving birth to the youngest, and though Caine has memories of her he avoids thinking of them, preferring to keep up a strong and unaffected front. His childhood was happy and he was close to his father, right up until he moved away when Caine was fourteen. Too young and unable to care for his sisters, he packed up, sold the house and travelled to find his auntie. They lived there in a town for a few more years, and she taught him what he knows of healing magic. He moved out at eighteen to continue his studies on the road. He visits occasionally, and has recently received word that he has a single nephew, his oldest sister's son. He is happy at the news, but has not yet visited, and by the looks of things he won't get around to it any time soon. He is still in contact with his father.

Outlook on the war: So typical of the humans… (He views it as entirely their fault.)
