Alarms blared as the prison suddenly came alive. Security personnel burst into a light-flooded chamber only to find it utterly empty. One figure was fleeing rapidly through the halls, one foot quickly raised to kick a door open before her. Out into the open yard she went as lights swept around in the dark of the night to locate her, guards raising their guns. A wicked grin spread across her features.

She was finally free from this hell hole! It was time to make it worth while.

Knives flashed to her hand as the first unaware guard had his throat slit, and his body was used as a platform to propel herself upwards to the roof of the building she had just escaped. Lights swept over her graceful figure as it darted for the roof edge, which was nearest the prison walls.

Abigail skidded to a halt, teetering on the edge of the rooftop for a moment before she turned around. Her eyes glowed blue in the darkness as she stared at her challenger. A blade shone in each hand. She too stood at roughly the age of nineteen, but there was a slight wariness in her eyes. Then a grin spread across her features. "You'll have to catch me." Her eyes flicked to the side, to the wall, and without a moments further hesitation, she leapt straight for the side.

Abigail's hands flailed outwards as the light blinded her and ended up slapping against the top of the wall. She grunted as her stomach collided and she only barely managed to keep a loose grip. "You're not going to take me back!" she shouted straight back, "The shadow council will not allow this!" Grunting she heaved, trying to pull herself up, but too long she had been kept imprisoned without seeing the night and her strength wasn't with her. Too long she had faced those infernal lights constantly on her flesh. She was weak.

With a loud groan Abigail's body slumped against the cold concrete and he grip weakened, her hands letting go and falling. It looked almost as if she was going to make a painful landing, until she smoothly and gracefully planted her feet on the ground. Slowly she straightened up, aqua eyes glaring upwards for Leona. "You're going to regret this!" she called out, reaching for her daggers once more. They were nothing special. Just, something she had from another prisoner. But any weapon was better than none.

Abigail let her head tilt downwards. With this a feint? She couldn't be lured into a trap. Uncertainly she approached, caution clear in her footsteps, knife glinting in the moonlight. "Are you hurt? Good. Serves you right," she answered, teeth pulling into a teeth-bared growl. "Maybe I can teach you a lesson not to get in my way in the future."

Abigail leant down with knife in hand, reaching to grab Leona's chin and hold it up. "Just a little gift to remember me by," she hissed in a low voice as she pressed the blade to Leona's eye and slowly dragged it downwards, a shallow wound, but enough to leave a noticeable scar in a slight crescent moon shape. Obviously she wouldn't cut her actual eye. She was just trying to leave a message here!

With that done she would let go and straighten up, eyes seeking the skies as she looked once more for the lip of the prison wall. With a careful three wall jumps she would scale from the ground to the roof once more.

Abigail looked down to Leona with a momentary smirk, only to find the flood lights suddenly sweeping in the direction of the scream. She was found immediately and guns were fired towards her. Alarm on her face she gave a leap for the wall, landing on the edge and immediately faultering. A patter of blood trickled from the sky as she left the prison, wounded, but alive.

Abigail sat on the ground breathing slowly. The bullet wound had been bad and it had been a staggering journey before she allowed herself a chance to stop. Just enough distance was covered to escape the dogs. Now she slumped at the base of a tree, staring down at the bullet wound in her leg and wondering what she could use to wrap it. It had made her escape slow. Not much distance had been covered. Well, why not make the most of it.

Wiping some blood free she forced herself back to her feet so she could draw a small symbol on a tree. If nothing else she could call for help. Maybe get to safety.

Abigail straightened up in alarm, grasping her blade and watching for the sound of the bushes. She stepped back and pressed herself to the side of the tree, a small desperate effort to hide. Dammit, she needed to wrap her leg. She was a sitting duck here! And now that it was day time she lost her advantage of darkness for cover and powers.

Abigail glared for a moment. "You?" she called out, "I thought I warned you to stay away! Devin is going to be here soon, and then you're in trouble, so stay the hell away." Still, she knew her injury was bad. She needed to treat it soon. "Just leave the kit on the ground and leave, before the Shadow Council gets you."

Abigail stared for a moment. "What do you mean?" This was a trick, it had to be. Why was she acting so strange. "Just throw me the damn kit already." She knelt down for a moment, but still she watched on waiting for the signs of attack, like that blinding Leona had done in the past.

"Ha! Yeah right, like I'm going to fall for that. Like me escaping lost you your job!" she called out, folding her arms. "Next you'll be asking to join the Shadow Council." Her head was turned to the side, but momentarily they flickered back uncertainly, and her confident smile wavered. She just wasn't sure.

Abigail frowned, looking down at the files. When she realised what they were her eyes widened in alarm. "Burn them," she said, "Quick, before Devin arrives. If he sees this I am dead." The Council didn't like information being slipped about them. Abigail hopped forward awkwardly to reach for the files, planning on tearing them to pieces.

Abigail moved slowly and subtly for her knife. It wasn't much, but it was better than nothing. "What the hell is wrong with you," she said, mouth turning into a snarl as she turned around, "Can't you see we're busy? What do you thinks going to happen when Devin gets here?" But at least it wasn't Devin himself! She needed to tear apart those notes.

"Fine, you can come, if I can convince him to let you..." Dammit, she really had too much on her mind.

Abigail dropped her weapon, eyes watching Swibkim carefully. If a fight broke out, well... She was going to be taking a sharp dive sideways. There was no need to be caught in the middle of this mess. Not with her injured leg. But with a subtle plop and a shaking of leaves, the repeatedly spoken of Devin sat on a branch, legs waving back and forth. He wore a fine casual-wear suit and his legs waved back and forth. But he didn't interrupt. The man just watched on with a smile.

Abigail Daybreak predictably dived sideways at the shots being fired, ducking behind the tree and laying low.

"Oh, don't mind me," said Devin with a casual wave of his hand. "I'm just here for the girl," he added gesturing for Abigail. "You finally managed to break out. Good job," he continued, making idle chatter. "I hadn't expected you to be able to without help."

Abigail remained silent as she really had more important things to worry about.

Abigail crawled only further around the tree to hide from the random firing of the bandit, but she couldn't really get far on her belly! Devin himself stood upright, casually striding from tree branch to tree branch over head, unconcerned by the fires and shooting.

Abigail avoided eye contact for a moment. "Yes, you did," she answered, then let out a sigh. "Devin, this is um... A friend." She didn't even know Leona's name. "She wanted to know about the council in return for helping me."

Devin seemed amused. "What, she thought she could join? How interesting."

"And where did you hear this from?" asked Devin, dropping down from the tree branch to the ground with more grace than Abigail herself had at the prison. To the side the woman quietly worked to wrap her wound after making sure it was clean.

"After all, we wouldn't be much of a Shadow Council if everyone knew of us, would we?"
