Absinthe

The Green Fairy in her prime, the aptly named Absinthe stalks Gambit's Bar disguised as a showgirl-cum-waitress. However, don't be fooled by her name and her glitz, for she'll prey on you for even the slightest sip of Sweetheart Stout.

Absinthe was born as any other fairy. She lived in the woods near a city and soon found herself drawn there by the big signs and glamour.

It was her making.

Absinthe, originally 'Vert', was quickly taken in by the glitz and fame of big cities. This green fairy was drawn to shows and dances in particular, and was soon witness to a bar room brawl. Hooked on the thrill of watching one man beat the heaven and hell out of the other, two mammals acting on primal instinct and alcohol, Vert wondered how she could possibly see more of them. Few and far between, bar fights were a luxury taken none too lightly by the fairy.

Thus, late in the eighteenth century, Vert gifted the world with the recipe for disaster, drunkenness and delightful drinking. Under the guise of a simple maid, Vert spent months hinting and prodding at one man in particular, a Major Dubied, who became the proud owner of the first absinthe distillery after careful guidance to what was originally a medical aide. In 1797, Vert dropped her given name and adopted the name 'Absinthe' and the title of 'the Green Fairy.' She is the origin of the spirit's nickname - the Green Fairy - for she soon started to visit those who became inebriated under her creation's influence, prompting the drinkers into fights that ended with destruction, injury, murder and, ultimately, the ban of her work from many countries.

Annoyed by this, Absinthe has lain low until now, desperate to watch the mirrored desperation on desperate men's faces, for she has moved on from working simple bar jobs in Las Vegas, where she was a glitzy glamour showgirl, and has now arrived in Wing City, a place famed for its lack of law enforcement within one particular establishment...

(For those of you who are not avid drinkers, absinthe is a very strong alcoholic beverage that is usually drunk when watered down. It is a bottled spirit that is drunk after dissolving a sugar cube (placed on a small spatula over the cup) into the absinthe with ice-cold water. It is famed for causing violence and murder, leading to its ban in several countries. Sweetheart Stout, on the other hand, is a drink holding 2% alcohol and was well known for being a woman's drink until it declined in popularity towards the end of the last century.

The joke here is that Absinthe, the fairy, originally started off appearing only to those who were inebriated to a high level by her creation whereas now you could have only a small sip of an almost non-alcoholic beverage and she would be accosting you in an attempt to lure you into a fight.)

Absinthe wasn't terribly happy with the reaction, or lack thereof, that Grey gave out. At least he had acknowledged her presence, which was more than what she could say of others.

Rather than slipping off the table and heading to the bar, as perhaps was expected of her, 'Abigail' merely extended her hand towards Grey. Clutched between her fingers was a glass, the cocktail the male had ordered unstirred and settled in the old-fashioned container.

"Here you are..." the woman all but purred.

"What on life are you --"

The chastisement about to escape the Fae's mouth was halted mid-sentence as the drink began to effervesce, the colour now much, much different to the clear vodka and white of the milk.

Absinthe spent bare moments examining the drink before turning her brilliant smile to the crow.

"And aren't you just something precious?" she questioned with a wink. The money the bird had placed before her had disappeared at some point. "Smart."

"Oh, the bright lights, the fun, the drama, the violence..." Absinthe listed airily. "The usual things that corrupt 'innocent' woodland creatures and drag us all over to the dark side of life. I have to admit, though, for being the dark side, there are so many fancy lights going around..."

Of course, there was the innocent act. Then there was the glitzy glamour model act. The one she portrayed now was neither. It was just Absinthe being Absinthe, ridiculously honest (when it suited her) and incapable of being remotely serious about anything other than violence.

Absinthe waved away the cigarette. "Smoking is bad for you," she admonished cheekily. "And as for my name... Would you like my real one, the one I go by, or the one I used to get hired here? Or would you like all three? I shouldn't have to mention that, if you are greedy and want all three, you'll receive none of them, which would be a shame..."

Absinthe casually appeared, as per usual, sprawled out on the bar with her uniform of green silk and a cheeky little corset.

"Well, well, well, hunnies!" the exuberant fairy greeted those in the bar happily. "How are we today?"

Hopefully violent, angered and short-tempered.

"Oh, yeah, Cas, hunny, poor little thing, don't be a 'tit' - listen to the smart one, babe. You really won't get anywhere near this," the fairy responded cheerfully with a gesture towards her own sprawled out body. "You can have something to drink if you want, though... You and the guy who thinks you're a soldier," Absinthe smiled.

Absinthe heaved a sigh and flopped onto her back, one leg bent at the knee. Despite the haphazard mess of ginger curls at her head, the fairy's complete look seemed to be very put-on, about as show-girly as possible.

"... 'Cas' was it? Listen, hunny, you wouldn't want to get with me, dear. I've been informed that fairies are abnormally hard to impress... that way. I doubt you're up to the task even with easy to please 'normal' people..."

Absinthe grinned at Monika. "Of course you do, hunny."

Absinthe turned her head to peer at Casper. "... Hunny... Look at yourself... You couldn't impress a virgin wood sprite if she thought you had the biggest you-know in the world," Absinthe tittered. She didn't appear to notice Kohrii, yawning away to herself as she did. "Besides, even if you were the best human for the job of coitus... you wouldn't be able to handle me."

Absinthe idly seemed to roll straight off the counter and into the bartender's side of the bar, but no thump was heard.

That was most likely explained by the fluttery-winged presence of the fairy settled inches away from Casper in the air.

"I can tell from here you're not even average!"

Absinthe flapped her wings to push herself further into the air, an eyebrow raised down at the two.

"Awww. You're an overly possessive, bitchy girl who thinks that you two are going out... Aww. Stalkers are so - so sweet," Absinthe said, a false thread of emotion in her voice as she placed a hand to her mouth. "I've never been so happy."

Absinthe shrieked with laughter and, in true Absinthe fashion, twirled in the air and disappeared, fully intending on following Casper.

Absinthe casually appeared on the floor beside Casper, pouting at him sympathetically. "Oh, you poor baby... Do you want a cuddle..?" the fairy asked, quite focused on the man rather the homicidal female brandishing furniture.

"Aww, no, come on!" Absinthe yelled at Kohrii. "I'm playing with him!" To make this point quite clear, Absinthe went to grab Casper's hands and flutter up into the air in order to pull him back into the bar!

Absinthe considered what Kohrii was saying before a wicked smile crossed her face and she disappeared only to reappear next to Kohrii, still smiling. "There's no reason why we can't share. I only want to demean and laugh at him, he's completely incapable of satisfying me in the bedroom."

"But you're you, hunny, and I'm the Green Fairy. I don't settle for garden variety. There's a reason Absinthe was created, and it wasn't for cuddling and spooning afterwards. It was for going to the emergency room afterwards..."

Absinthe waved politely as the two left. Well, as one left and one was forced to follow.

"When you need stitches, come to me! I@m really, really good at stitching people up!"

Absinthe promptly appeared, sprawled out on the bar counter in her showgirl nature as she always was.

"Well, well, well! Isn't this the hotspot for violence tonight, my hunnies?"

Absinthe was, of course, looking at Casper and Kohrii, a smirk settled on bruised lips.

"Displeasure in paradise, lovers?"

Absinthe sighed, turned to roll straight off the edge of the bar and promptly disappeared before hitting the floor.

This was emotionally accidental domestic violence - it'd be a lot more fun if she could get something really violent; murder, for example.

Absinthe casually appeared on the bar, sprawled out amongst beer bottles and coasters as the human-sized fairy was wont to do.

"Oh, you lovelies, you're ever so boring with your violence! Can't you ever be... oh, I don't know... Interesting, for a change?" Absinthe rolled her eyes, one of which had dark shadows settled around it - clearly it was a fading bruise that discoloured her skin - and there were matching shadows on her painted lips and grazing the edge of her jaw.

"You're all smiley and happy and entirely too misfittish for my tastes," the Green Fairy noted with an idle flutter of wings that were surely too thin to be capable of hoisting the woman-like creature into the air.

"I've seen human children with more hate in their features than this lot," Absinthe remarked at Seraver before peering at Mindy Hutchins. "Sorry. This is a bar. I don't serve children. Besides, I serve only alcohol, and chocolate milkshakes do not contain alcohol."

Lies, of course, but Absinthe was of the firm belief that children should not be in bars. It ruined them for later violence because they got used to it, and she so loved seeing the panic on their young faces.
