The door of the bar was pushed open to admit a small figure that might have been thought unsuitable for such an establishment in a more regulated city. A teenager who couldn't have been much older than fifteen cast his eyes around the room warily as he made his way inside. By the looks of things, it wasn't much different here to elsewhere in the city, albeit a little more concentrated. Whatever.

The boy made his way to the counter and slid onto a stool, taking out a book and ordering a coke. It was as good a place as any to hang around.

"Probably." Adrian commented, eyes flicking to Phinx for an instant before returning to his book, "There are worse crimes for people to care about."

Whilst the bar's patrons went about their drinking, and their drama, as though in their own little bubble, there were some who would take advantage of that obliviousness. Behind the counter of the bar, a keen observer might have noted that there were some items that were, for lack of a batter word, vanishing. Expensive looking wine bottles, packets of peanuts and other food, and - most notably - the tip jar.

The latter disappeared from the counter in a clumsily obvious way, vanishing on the spot before a clunk and a rattle suggested its unceremonious arrival on the floor. A muffled curse was faintly audible over the conversations in the bar.

Probably taking Christopher by surprise, today, it seemed that the tip jar had transformed into a teenage boy. Completely invisible, and trying to shove the tip jar's contents into his bag, Adrian didn't notice Christopher's investigation until he was jabbed in the head. Startled, he dropped the jar to the ground, sending the remaining change scattering across the wooden surface, abruptly visible again and making something of a racket.

Not quite restraining a yelp, Adrian shuffled away hurriedly, trying to escape detection.

Eyeing Christopher over the counter, Adrian glanced down at the mess of coins at his feet and groaned. With a weary sigh, he picked the tip jar up and dumped it back onto the counter. As he did so, he - realising that the game was up - dropped his invisibility. "You aren't gonna call the staff or anything?" he questioned warily, giving the backpack full of contraband he wore a glance. "I wasn't gonna take it all..." he lied.

Shrugging, Adrian grabbed a can of soda for the stranger and slid it over to him. "Adrian," he said, "I'm Adrian. And thanks, for not caring, I guess." The youth lifted himself onto the counter and slid over to take a seat on one of the stools on the far side - just in case some staff did turn up.

He opened a can of coke for himself, looking over at Christopher, "What about you?" As he spoke, Adrian took in the stranger's appearance and quickly noted the cane and the glasses. He hadn't met anyone blind before, but he wasn't ignorant to it.

Adrian shrugged, "Most places have better security than this. If I were back home then sure, but this city's fitted to be secure against people who can, I dunno, teleport themselves through walls and shit." The youth opened his bag on his lap, "I dunno what this stuff is worth, but I can usually make money selling the alcohol onto other kids at the hostel."

He shook his head, "But whatever, that's my own business." he muttered, catching himself talking too easily, "I thought I'd be able to get away with stealing shit from other places when I first got here. Got used to it a while back, being able to go invisible means you get away with a lot anywhere else. Learned that lesson the hard way though..."

"Oh, right, yeah." Adrian coughed, "That's why nobody was paying any attention. I can... yeah. It helps." The youth shrugged, "And I guess I'm stuck with a different crowd than you were. I don't sell it to the pre-teen kids anyway, just the others around my age. Easier than getting a fake ID I guess."

Adrian leaned on an arm, "I dunno why I'm telling you all this," he mumbled, "I can't see why you'd care or anything. It's just life."

Adrian scowled, "I'm sixteen," he grumbled, "I just don't look... oh, right. I guess I mustn't act it either."

The youth glanced away, "And that doesn't sound so bad. Just sitting a bit without your mind on much at all. Isn't ever quiet in my head, for sure." Adrian's eyes wandered to the floor briefly, "I've never quite sunk to dumpster diving, and I don't intend to, even in metaphor. Though I guess to some shoplifting is a level below that even."

Adrian watched the blind stranger leaving with a faint frown. When he'd gone out the door, the youth turned his attention back to his bag full of stolen bottles of alcohol, shaking his head. He fastened the bag closed and hopped to his feet, vanishing into thin air as he did so. When the door of the bar next opened to admit new customers, he slipped out before it swung closed behind them.

"Pretty sure I am," a voice to Shan's right piped up, seemingly from the seat next to him. But as far as he'd be able to see, there wasn't anyone there. "But I'm invisible to everyone right now, so I guess it's understandable."

Adrian had been sitting happily alone, totally invisible, reading a book that was propped on the table (as reading it while it was invisible would have been hard). The only evidence he was there, was his voice and the book.

"You don't know a lot about Terran anything if you're puttin' this down to the drink," Adrian responded condescendingly, abruptly becoming visible just to roll his eyes, "People do weird shit here, get used to it. And before you complain about me sneaking up on you, I was here first."

The sixteen year old gestured at his book, "See? That's mine. I'm not whining or anything, not your fault you didn't see me, but don't do the whole 'that's rude' spiel."

"Oi, I'm not a little boy!" Adrian grumbled, "And I'd be worried if I were you and dreaming about little boys was something I thought I'd be doing, anyway," Adrian pointed out.

The kid glanced between the man and the bartender, "I'm just gonna go ahead and assume that's a drink, and you aren't just a really bad terrorist. Like in that one movie, something Lions, those terrorists that end up in fun-run costumes blowing themselves up by accident."

"Not based on a true story, no, and it's set in Britain. That's where I'm from - I wasn't born here. Just ended up here." Adrian shrugged, "Least I don't think it was a true story. Four Lions, that's what it was called. Would be a fuckin ridiculous true story if it was."

The kid eyed Shan's drinking, "You drink a lot like this?" he asked warily.

Adrian shrugged, "Nobody really cares. I can't order shit to drink but so long as I don't make a nuisance of myself I haven't been kicked out or anything." The youth scowled, "You're an idiot," he muttered, "Alcoholics are selfish fuckheads. D'you just expect people to deal with whatever shit you do when you're blind drunk or what?"

"Fuck off," Adrian snapped, "You think I'd be sitting here alone in this city, in this bar, if everything was fine and dandy and full of flowers? Don't patronise me, you don't know anything about me. I know that alcoholics are fucking shits, you don't know squat about me."

Apparently in a confrontational mood, the teenager grimaced, "You enjoy your 'therapy', I hope it lands your ass in jail before you hurt anyone."

Adrian scowled, "Whatever," he muttered, "Drinking shit won't help anything. It'll just ruin your life, and anyone close to you. None of my business anyway."

He shook his head, "Sorry... I don't even know you. I shouldn't be so ... yeah."

"Adrian," he replied, "Sorry, again. I have bad experiences with drunks. It hits a nerve." Sighing, Adrian stared down at his book, "And you? Don't tell me you're called something like Zork Fngrlsh just because you're apparently from outer space."

Adrian raised an eyebrow, "Wonder how much it costs to go to space here..." he murmured to nobody in particular as he drifted towards the door himself, musing.

The fighting and the commotion provided only a meagre amount of entertainment for the youngster seated to the side of the room, watching mutely as people whacked each other all for (or because of) getting drunk. He reaffirmed to himself for the hundredth time that he'd never become an alcoholic or even let himself get drunk at all.

On the mention of 'quick cash' however, his ears perked up. Adrian glanced towards Lochlyn's bodyguard, slipping out of his seat and walking over. "How by?" the teenager asked warily.

Adrian scowled. That did it - he needed money anyway, and that much money? He could do a lot with that much money. "No wonder you need help..." he muttered.

With that said, Adrian vanished on the spot, turning invisible and retreating towards the door. He pushed it open as if to leave, only to turn around, becoming visible once again. He broke back into the bar at a run, and it was as though the moody looking teenager had completely transformed. Tears were running down his face, sobs racking his chest as he crossed the bar, seemingly blind to the fights going on around him.

"Please help!" he cried out, staggering to a halt as he conveniently almost ran into Yanni, "Please, one of you!" Though he was sixteen, Adrian's appearance suggested a child at least two years younger, if not more - though he hated it, sometimes it worked to his advantage. "A guy outside... I was walking Snuff, my dog, and he took him!" Sniffling convincingly, Adrian seemed to notice the fight between Yanni and Kazen that he was clumsily interrupting for the first time, making a show of backing away nervously.

Adrian just broke down in more tears, "Please!" he cried, "Snuff's all I've got! None of the other kids at the hostel like me..."

Inwardly, Adrian was peeved at the lack of breaking hearts. Maybe he was losing his touch. It'd been a while since he'd pulled this sort of scam, after all. "I don't know what to do..." he said mournfully.
