Codename: Breaker. The mind is a complex maze, full of open and locked doors. Who needs a key, when you can break them down?

a character in “The Multiverse”, originally authored by Dark Rain, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 156lbs
Image

Dylan is usually found wearing his body length black trench coat.

Personality

Dylan is rather quiet, and not very sociable. He'll speak when spoken to, but very rarely will he initiate conversation. Always seeming to be in possession of your secrets, Dylan has the tendency to unnerve you for no reason at all.

Equipment

Aggressive Telepath
Dylan Ryder is a telepath, but a rather rare variety. He can read the thoughts of others, and indeed cannot help but hear the surface thoughts of most people. But far more frightening is his ability to pierce into the minds of others, reading their deepest conscious and unconscious thoughts. And that it takes a trained person to even realize that he's just done so.

Even worse though, is he's not restricted to just mind reading. No, he's aggressive, wielding the power to literally wrest control of his victims' minds and play them like puppets. If that weren't enough, he's not just an Alpha-class Agent, he's the most powerful psychokinetic in recorded Dark Rain history. Entire armies, hell, entire nations have danced to his commands.

Dragonskin Armor
Due to the fact that aside from his massive mental powers, Dylan is human, he was given the Dragonskin Armor, a lightweight, flexible armor that takes the form of a black, body length trench coat. This armor is impervious to bullets up to .75 caliber, and diffuses energy, nullifying up to medium-high energy output laser and plasma rounds. It conducts electricity to a degree, and as such Dylan attempts to avoid electrical attacks.

Agent Armor
The power armor variant of Agents is lighter than that of the bulk of armed forces, but utilizes enhanced shield and stealth technology to make up for the bulk durability. Its greatest modification lies in the addition of the Enhancement System, a helmet mod that is used to bolster the power of an Agent's psychokinetic abilities anywhere from twice to five times greater. Dylan's used the most basic module, bolstering his telepath abilities by double. Only worn in combat scenarios.

DR Agoon
The Direct Rifle Agoon, or Dragoon as slanged by Dark Rain forces, is an extremely versatile modulated weapon. Dylan's is set up as a combined sniper and short/mid-range rifle. The sniper aspect is tuned for sheer penetration and power, slinging energized grav-slugs at hyperballistic velocities, with an effective straightfire range of almost 3 miles. The secondary rifle is an joint energy-kinetic weapon, slinging plasma loaded bolts as a cyclic rate of 500rpm. He does not often carry this weapon around unless in a combat zone.

Banshee
The Agent's sidearm is the Banshee, a quite deadly plasma pistol. Named for its distinctive screaming charge, it has a 1.5 second delay before it unleashes an expansive blast of compressed plasma. containing a micro mag-field pellet, when it strikes, the bolt detonates but the blast is contained within the field projected by the pellet, bolstering its power. Lethal against unshielded targets, and dangerous against armor, it nonetheless suffers from the requirement of multiple shots against shielded targets.

The Night Wolf
Ryder's personal Armored Intelligent Mech, it is a unique design built from the ground up by the Agent himself. A middleweight frame, it radiates an aura of power. Black and crimson paint detailing, it is a bipedal style with a narrow, sharply angled "fighter" chassis, reinforced arms, and a recessed head unit with hundreds of optics running in a strip from left to right. Prototype scale hex-shields and blended adamantium-titanium armor give it appalling endurance, the custom designed and tune Rayviel Furnace within yielding massive levels of energy for extreme high speed maneuvering.
>>Armaments
-Vyper Ballistic Assault Rifle: 150 round clips, 10 spares, 850prm, 20mm caseless slugs.
-Drake Lance Rifle: Plasma lancer, 500 charge capacity.
-Hellfire Modules: Twin missile launchers, 100 capacity each, tracking, 5 missile bursts. Mixed concussion and plasma warheads.
-Storm Bolter: Rack-style mass driver, 150mm slugs, 150 capacity. Rapid fire capable.
-Midnight Lance: ABYSS cannon. 50mm bore, 15 megaton firepower. 3 second cycle time.

History

The organization known as Dark Rain keeps it's origins secret beyond the level of Black. However, Dark Rain does not keep secret its specialty, and that is providing individual agents to clients at a fee. These agents have one thing in common: They are all powerful psychokinetics.

Dylan was recruited into Dark Rain out of high school, after they had discovered his latent abilities. Under the guidance of the Dark Rain organization, his powers grew exponentially, until he reached the classification of an Alpha level agent.

Dylan is the premier agent of the Dark Rain organization, often called the most dangerous of all agents. He alone has the capability to turn an army on its country, to collapse a criminal organization from one man, or to take over a country, doing nothing other than meeting its leader.

So begins...

Climbing into the passenger seat, the Agent clipped in. "Sounds like a plan."

From what he'd seen so far, he was already prepared to finalize the agreement with the UNSC. Fair was only fair, however, but that could wait until the tour was over. "Do your vehicles have much variety in specific kinds? I've seen orbital stills of these ones having turrets."

"An impressive array, then. Versatility for flexibility. The more I see and learn, Anna, the more I see Rain similarities." He chuckled, reaching up to hold onto the frame as they drove. Once more he scowled as a call came in, dismissing it as before. Bloody operators were persistent, he'd give them that.

"Someone back at the Lot is going to get fried shortly. Overriding my inactive call status to ping me, the bastards."

The glimpse of assembly caught his attention, and he sharply glanced at the Spartan next to him. "Building vehicles I can understand. But just how secure is this base?"

The Agent was understandably rattled, for as secure as they considered the lot, any non-infrastructural construction was done off-planet. Usually in either of the Ogres' assembly shops, the finished products of which were then orbitally dropped.

"Sure. Those painkillers work up an appetite." It still rankled with him slightly that she could be cavalier about 'standard' units. Then again, the man reminded himself, put the respective costs of Rain's equipment vs this UNSC's, and the latter would likely gape at the former's.

"So, on a separate note, how did Harmony find you? Or vice versa, if that was the case?" Dylan glanced back at Harmony, raising an eyebrow. After all, no explanation had been offered earlier.

The decision to contract the woman as an independent just paid for itself in his mind, prompting a smile from the man. Dylan tagged a system memo to add a substantial bonus at the next transfer. "Sounds like a damn nice piece of operating to me. Initiative is well rewarded among Rain."

But a moment later he loosed a curse, finally accepting the call from the Lot. Not bothering to subvocalize, he held up a finger to Anna and Harmony, snapping back over the COM. "What in the black hells is so important?"

'S-s-sorry sir. I mean Breaker. But-' The Agent's warning growl of impatience prompted the caller to blurt it out. 'The Devastator is here.'

For a moment, Ryder was nonplussed. "Ryder out. Thank you..."

"Well. Shit."

"Actually, I was just informed we finally got the reinforcements I requested." Dylan just shook his head, rubbing his temples. "And they finally sent someone to take over military command, freeing me back up, like I'm supposed to be."

And of course they sent Singularity. Bloody Vice Admiral Jenovan. "We can keep up the tour. I'm still just shell shocked at recognizing the ship they sent."

Chuckling at Anna's remark about the massive vehicle, Ryder's mind raced about the arrival of Devastator. He'd requested reinforcements, and they sent one of the brand new Fafnir heavy Carriers? And of course, the enigmatic Vice Admiral known for his utter ruthlessness.

The Council must have intel he didn't, apparently. Especially to set back the Mori fleet to send that monster ahead.

"So, which way to the grub?"

Dylan unbuckled and hopped out of the 'Hog. He staggered when he hit the ground though, eyes sliding out of focus as he automatically snatched a roll bar. Images like a staticky strobe flickered like lightning in front of his eyes, a mental fusillade of thoughts lashing from above to strike like a sack of stones. Irate, the Agent returned the telepathic communication just as violently, his focus on the offending astropath razor-sharp. He grinned darkly as he felt the bastard faint.

"Teach you to slam me with thoughts, arsehole." Straightening, he snatched off his glasses, tapped off his COM, and drew his mind inward sharply. "Apologizes, but someone was rather rude getting me a message. Let's eat, before I have to go kill someone's staff."

Slipping into a seat next to her, he looked about, feeling blind and deaf with his mind contracted. "Separate messes? To each their own, I suppose. So, what I've seen so far has been impressive, I must say. Makes it much easier on the mind to agree to our deal."

"I see." Dylan took a breath and sighed. "Well, Harmony might have not told you of the Agency. And she wouldn't have been very aware of exactly my place in it."

"For example, I knew your name before I even saw you, and if I'd focused on you, I could have gotten all the information you provided without the tour. I'm what's called a telepath. An aggressive one."

The Agent leaned forward, his eyes serious. "But I chose the tour, because for one, I alone can get the best reading of those Dark Rain deals with, simply by being around you and yours long enough. And what I've picked up, has only increased my confidence that the deal is a fair one."

"I'll come with. Seeing you Spartans more in depth will be interesting, considering you seem like our our Steel Wolves." The man was impressed she didn't seem to even care about his ability. "In fact, I'm starting to think that fair is only fair, and if you'd like a tour of the Lot..."

"Well, let's say not even my new replacement can stop me." Ryder smiled wickedly.

"Anything's fine by me. I'm starved." The man sipped at his coffee as well, glancing at Harmony. "In fact, I don't think Harmony has seen the Lot yet either. If you'd like, I can call an Owl for pickup after the tour."

"Well then, I'll call for a pickup. Just...warn the people on the tarmac. I'll tell them no stealth, but Owls still look...odd." The Agent shrugged. It was difficult to explain the stealth craft, since it didn't look remotely flight capable.

"I'll also warn you personally, the Lot is definitely not what most expect."

Dylan simply nodded to this, digging in with an appreciable appetite. Human he might be, his mental abilities burned a lot of calories, and with the lack of sleep he needed the energy.

"God, unsynthed rations. Manna from heaven."

"You'll see why. It's a price of making the better part of twelve thousand people invisible that you don't get to eat real food often." Dylan chuckled, glancing at his two companions. "Synthed tastes just as good, but then its always the same."

Striding in after her, Dylan cracked his mental wall only enough to "sniff" around him as he glanced about. Honestly, he didn't know quite to expect.

Whistling low, Ryder slid his glasses down for a moment to admire the view unobstructed. It truly was an impressive sight, even if his own instincts twinged in reflex against the space.

It wasn't the space itself, it was the lack of automated defense clusters. Rain's paranoia for worst case scenario, but the Agent shook it off. "Nice. Kind of a rally point and barracks rolled into one?
