Aimara

I hunt demons and other entities of evil. Would you stop me?

0 · 313 views · located in Dark Woods

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Ikiros

Description

ImageImage

Name: Aimara Velkos
Alias: Aimara, Ama
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 127 lbs
Age: 22
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Green
Race: Human
Class: Demon-Hunter

Personality

To come later.

Equipment

She wields a single blade, made of stone, enchanted to be more effective against those considered evil. The enchantment itself is somewhat of an oddity, magically, though she isn't aware of it, or of why. It's attuned to her emotions, so it becomes more or less effective depending on how evil she believes someone to be. The strength of this spell works in both directions, as well. If she were, for instance, to believe someone to be infallibly good, the blade would be unable to harm them in all but the most minor of ways, and vice versa.

History

To come later.

So begins...

"A little of both, to be honest. And more of talking you out of killing me, as I doubt I could defeat you, even if you were mortal." It wasn't the perfect thing to say, but then again, Aimara still had more bias than was god for her.

And yet, she couldn't help but feel that there was nothing wrong with Veronica. She'd not attempted to, in any way, harm the demon hunter and had helped her several times already.

She looked a Roni for a moment, trying to puzzle something out, if her expression was anything to judge by. This half-demon wasn't naturally such? The implications shook Aimara rather profoundly, as she realized that the same thing could very easily happen to anyone.

"Then I should apologize. You had no choice in the matter, so you're not at fault. But you say that you're an angel as well? Is that why you healed so quickly?" Aimara had let her bias slide as she heard about how Veronica had become what she was. There was no reason for the demon-hunter's prejudice if there was no fault. Now, had Roni asked to be changed as such...that would have been different.

"Is there any way I can help? I mean, I know I'm just a human, but I've been trying to follow my mother in the fight against demon-kind." Aimara turned to face the sky through the gap in the trees, the stars shining brilliantly, despite the nearby city. She was glad, for once, that she was able to look at them again peacefully, having never had the chance since before her mother had passed.

The demon hunter sighed and looked around before letting her gaze drift back to Roni.

"Maybe it's you," she said. "I mean, He seemed rather bent on keeping you there, though for what reason I wouldn't know." A thought occurred to Aimara then, and she found it funny. "But then again, it could be me just as easily, though I doubt it. Humans may make great puppets, but there are far better choices than me. Or you, for that matter. We fight back to much."

"Sounds like we might. Do you think he'd be there now, or would he simply be somewhere in Wing City?" She remembered her first visit to Gambit's and the craziness that had ensued from it. Her first brush with demons beyond her capabilities, though it certainly hadn't bee her last.

She stood and readied herself to go, in case Veronica decided that it was time to find this Ian. It interested the demon hunter that she had yet to see any wings on Veronica, though she claimed to be both demon and angel. To the best of her youthful, if naive, knowledge, most demons had wings and all angels did, unless they were torn off.

Aimara stepped back from the rotating rip in reality. The absolute black within scared her, though she had to admit that it was a cool sight to see.

"We're...going into that? Are you sure it's safe? I mean, I'm not terribly keen on magic but..." She trailed off, hesitant to say more, though she shot the doorway another frightened look, obviously ill at ease with it.

Aimara stepped in after Veronica, her eyes darting almost immediately to the few exits. It wasn't that she was looking to flee, but more that she was trying to see where an enemy would have to come from in order to get to them. Lucky for her, nobody appeared to be in the areas she looked, and the habit went reasonable unnoticed.

"Once before. It was when I met he who claimed to be Anubis. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best of experiences, and I haven't been here since, though I suspect you'd be right about picking up more business." She chuckled and walked casually, despite the trepidation she felt. She didn't enjoy being the center of attention in society, a problematic pet peeve (as she was rather good looking), but she forced herself to ignore that nagging anxiety just this once. She was with a friend, after all.

Aimara kept her head down and finished off her glass of water. Throughout the conversation, she'd gone from intrigued to angry and then on to ignoring the man, and all so that she didn't turn and try to cut him in half for what he did with his magic. Although she'd never understood the intricacies of the arcane arts, Aimara had always disliked necromancers for bringing back the dead as tools.

However, he seemed to have gone to do something else, giving her time to talk to Roni again.

"So, where is your friend Ian, then? You don't think something might have happened to him, do you? I mean, we've both been here for quite some time." She set her empty glass down and turned to face the woman beside her, swiveling on the stool. An odd thought passed through her mind just then, and it made her smile, despite the grim tone of her voice. She really needed to get new clothing. maybe then she wouldn't have to be so nervous when walking into public places like bars.

The demon hunter looked at Momiji for a moment, rather startled by the sudden appearance. And then there was the compliment about smelling wild. That was something that caught her off guard.

"Er...Thank you?" she said, though she wasn't exactly sure how to respond to something so incredibly upfront, blunt, and random. However, as Roni began to talk about her personal interest in necromancy, Aimara ordered another glass of water. Just as she was about to say something to Roni about her thoughts on raising the dead, she was licked.

And boy did it confuse her.

She turned to face Momiji directly and, seeing her hand moving towards the hilt of a blade on the wolf-girl's back, Aimara put her hand on the hilt of the stone blade on her left hip.

"I wouldn't draw that blade if I were you, girl. Nor would I go around licking random strangers."

"No, it isn't." The look on the demon hunter's face was obvious enough to show that she wasn't kidding, but as things seemed to relax, she took her hand off the stone pommel. As the girl before her introduced herself, however, Aimara became a bit more relaxed, figuring things had gone back to normal.

"I'm Aimara, and the pleasure is mine. But as I said before, licking strangers around here is a bit dangerous, so keep that in mind." She smiled somewhat, and although she tried to turn away and return to the conversation between David and Veronica, she couldn't help but notice that the wolf-girl remained. Could she really just leave the girl there?

Aimara stood easily, glad to have Roni's hand in hers. That contact kept her from simply leaving, kept her from trying a dozen different things, many of which would likely have gotten her killed. She looked at Roni and grinned childishly before turning to David.

"Aimara. And Roni, I'll be fine, even if I'm not so big on being in public." The last bit was half-whispered and then immediately followed by a chuckle. She wondered how many people she would find here in Wing City that were as kind and strong-willed as the hybrid.

Aimara couldn't help but chuckle at David's words. She wasn't as interested in where they were headed as her friend, but it seemed to be a fine adventure either way, as it kept her from finding a place to sit and look through her memories.

She kept her hold on Roni's hand and, although she'd never thought about it, felt as though it was the best place to be. Beside her, that was.

Aimara looked around them, trying to make sure there weren't any thugs in the shadows waiting for them. She suspected they wouldn't have been able to do much, what with the three of them being what they were, but she had never been very good at fighting humans. She'd always felt that it was just asking a little...much.

"Not that I can't do it," she said absentmindedly. She realized that she'd spoken the last bit of her inner thought, and was lucky enough that it seemed relevant to the conversation at hand.

Aimara continued to look around, her face covered in a visage worn most often by those too doped up on drugs to notice their surroundings. Luckily for the demon hunter, she was perfectly aware of her surroundings, as well as her own thoughts, many of which revolved around the same subject.

While her friend was busy talking to the bartender, Aimara opened the bottle and, ignoring the sharp tang in the air, put the top to her lips and drank three large gulps.

"Could be better."

She shivered slightly as she set the bottle down on the table with a reasonable thunk. A smile passed over her face, the first since she'd read the book her hand was still on, and she looked at Veronica.

"I know my limit, and I fully intend to pass over it, though I hope not to the point of you carrying me. Then again..." She trailed off and winked, the alcohol already affecting her judgement. She'd never exactly said what her limit was, let alone with what type of drink.

"Plus, would it be that bad if I got that far gone? You heard what they said. You read what was in this book." She held the leather-bound tome up for effect. "If they're all right, then it won't harm me, right?" Unfortunately, her condition was not exactly the same as others like her. She was very much human in all aspects. The only real difference being that her soul was tethered to her body not by a natural means, but by another soul.

Aimara paused in her semi-delirious musings for a moment and took one of Roni's hands in her own.

"Hey. Cheer up. They can come after us all they want, but we'll be fine. We've got each other, right?" Her smile was genuine, even if it wasn't quite as exuberant or innocent as when they'd first met.

In fact, ever since they had met, Aimara had changed dramatically, though not so much in a physical sense. Being with Roni had given her a better outlook on life, for a time, and it seemed that the effect would continue so long as they were near each other.

The sudden appearance of Paralysis not only got Aimara's attention, but it also caused her scramble from the booth while she drew her blade. her mind reasonably clear from the potent effects of the adrenaline now flowing through her, the demon hunter placed her slender form between the demon and Roni.

"Get out of here, demon. Or perhaps you'd like to risk tasting my blade again." A wild grin was splayed across her face now, one that showed she no longer feared death, though her reasons for the lack of fear were terribly misplaced. So great was her focus that she was unaware that the elf was now behind her until the woman had spoken.

As Roni slid past on the floor, Aimara dove to try and grab a hold of her, but missed by mere inches. She was, however, back on her feet, sword at the ready, within moments. When Paralysis put his foot atop Roni, that tipped the hunter over the edge.

Witha savage and primal yell, Aimara charged. The force that the demon fired at her grazed her right side, causing her to stumble to the left and go off-balance, but she swung her sword wide and to the right to compensate. She was only a few more feet from the demon and as she began to move farther to her right, she whirled the heavy stone blade above her head and down from her upper left, aiming to crease the demon's right shoulder.

"Veronica!" cried Aimara as the hybrid fell to the ground, blood staining the cloth at her side. the demon hunter dropped swiftly, placing her blade on the ground as she dropped, though not letting it go out of reach.

"Are you alright?" she asked, trying to look at the wound from where she was, but failing by being more in front of the woman, rather than to her side. She hated that fact that paralysis had escaped them again, but she had plans for him once they had him truly trapped.

Aimara chuckled as a tear leaked out of her eye.

"Well...it's not good." She smiled weakly and offered the woman her shoulders to lean on. "Let's at least get you sitting up again, yeah?"

Aimara, while supporting Roni, snaked an arm around behind and under her arms to hold her armor out of the way so she wouldn't have to. She couldn't see the wound, but she knew that the hybrid was a fast healer, despite the severity of the wound, and she'd be fine by the morrow.

"I'm not surprised he went for your book, but why mine? What's so important about the book that holds the record of my...death." Though she'd spoken normally, the last word came out as a whisper, as if she were afraid that admitting she was a member of the undead would turn her into a pile of bones.

Once the wound had been treated, Aimara made sure she was properly supporting Roni and then moveed them all to a table where the hybrid girl could rest a bit easier.

"I just can't imagine why he'd be after my book. I mean, Yours probably had something relevant to beating him in it, if I know anything at all about you Roni, but mine was just a list of a bunch of dead people." She sighed and stared absentmindedly at the ceiling for several moments, contemplating various goings on, but never straying to the thought of her name being in that book.
