An 8 year old girl who has just moved to New York from Japan with her father, Fumiya, and her pet dog, Kuro. Her father owned a dojo back in Japan teaching kendo. He is a ninth-dan kendoka and has taught her some basic self-defense.
She has a cheerful and curious disposition. She is always keen to help someone in need, to the exasperation of her father.
None - Her father owned a dojo back in Japan teaching kendo. He is a ninth-dan kendoka and has taught her some moves. But he has warned her not to engage, to just run and avoid trouble. Whether she follows his advice is another matter.
Like any normal 8 year old, Aki has many hopes and dreams. One of which is to try out all the flavours of ice cream in the world! Hence, she was quite happy when her father brought her to America, citing it as the main reason for their move. But of course, there were other reasons for the move. Her english skills are rudimentary at best, so using big words would just confuse her.
Aki's pet dog, Kuro or Blackie, is a stray that she rescued one day. He's stuck with her ever since. Despite her dad's attempts to get rid of him by leaving him in another city, he has always managed to find his way home.
