A young woman who hides her insecurities behind a shell of overconfidence and brash behavior.
Outwardly Alex is a belligerent, sort of mouthy, but not unfriendly person...it's just that she suffers from a wee touch of Napoleon complex. She's also a little touchy about speaking of her heritage. She's intelligent when it comes to her specialties but can otherwise be a bit ignorant about the goings-on of the world. Alex employs sarcasm as a front to cover up her own insecurities and self-perceived shortcomings to the point where it may be difficult to tell when she likes a person or not, the only real difference is how personal and intense the jibes are. Even her family gets similar treatment. Only when overwhelmed or in very private and/or dangerous situations will she soften up a bit or turn more serious.
Aside from her clothing Alex travels relatively lightly. She carries a set of six well balanced throwing knives strapped to her upper thighs, various lock picks, a small wrist-mounted crossbow with a cache of 20 bolts, and a three foot long kukri knife. There is nothing particularly special about any of these items aside from being well crafted. She takes very good care of her tools and doesn't flash them around unless it's necessary.
Alex is the product of an unusually happy relationship between a light elf and a Drow. Her Drow father was a member of the thieves guild that in essence 'protected' the coastal town in which they lived from pirates and other unsavory influences by taking the outsiders into their fold and making them abide by the Guild's rules and driving out or killing those who were unwilling to do so. Growing up in this environment wasn't ideal, but it wasn't the worst thing in the world either. Alex picked up several bad habits from her father's associates but also several useful skills. She essentially grew up indoctrinated in the ways of the Guild, becoming a member when she reached adulthood.
Unsatisfied by being stuck in one city for her entire young adulthood Alex set out to make her own fortune, though she has vowed to follow the Guild's laws and return to her home city if the Guild is in need.
