Alimas

Last of the Arcane Warriors and Elven Defender of Ferelden.

0 · 213 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Aythr

Personality

As an elf, Alimas tends to understand that he is overlooked by society. He is humble in many of his endeavors. Raised in the Mage's Circle, discipline and logic are his most valuable personality traits. Although his mind is logical, he can tend to be a bit smarmy depending on the situation. Many times, sarcasm is not beyond him. He does not expect much in the way of affection, but his loyalties are strong to his friends, and his morals are nigh unshakable.

Equipment

Dragonwrought

Alimas is clad in massive armor forged of dragon's bones. It's rust red sheen and intricate inlay the work of a master craftsman of Denerim, taking many weeks to shape into the form it's in now. It is highly resistant to physical damage, as well as fire, acid, and electricity. The bones that were used to forge the armor were taken from a great elder dragon that sought to defile the ashes of the Prophetess Andraste. It's plot was foiled at the hands of Alimas and his companions, and it's horde as well at it's body was theirs for the taking. This armor is the set Alimas uses for intense battles in which an impenetrable defense is necessary.

Elvhenan
This set of armor was specially made centuries ago. Designed and specially made for the Arcane Warriors, their ways and their armor became lost when Elvhenan fell and the Elves were forced into slavery. Much of elven history was lost: Their language, their art, their religion, and even their way of waging war. While on his quest to free the Dalish Elves from the onslaught of the Liken hordes of the Brecilian Forest, Alimas happened across ancient Elven ruins, containing an armory and the phylactery of a great Elven Warrior. Upon agreeing to free the spirit within the phylactery, it taught his the secrets of the Arcane Warrior, an elven warrior tradition that combined magic and blade. Taking a set of the armor from the armory, Alimas now wears this armor with pride as a part of his elven ancestry.

The armor itself is light, allowing for easy maneuverability. The magic that once coursed through this armor has had the residual effect of warding its wearer against not only physical blows, but magical ones as well. While it doesn't provide as much protection as his Dragonbone armor, it is much more practical in skirmishes.

History

Clad in the warrior's visage lies the power of a mage. Born with the spark of magic, Alimas was ported from the Elven Alienage of Denerim to the Mage Circle Tower of Ferelden. There, he was taken in and taught how to use his magic with strict guidance. Upon becoming a full fledge mage of the Circle, his friend Jowan pleaded for his assistance. Begging for Alimas' help, he told spoke of his plight. He had started a forbidden relationship with one of the Chantry's devoted sisters. Jowan wanted only to escape from the circle so that he and his love, Lily, could go on with their lives without the Chantry or the Templar's prying eyes. Not wanting to betray the Circle's trust, he sought out the council of the Head Mage, Irving. He told Alimas that he knew of Jowan's plan, and that he wanted Alimas to carry on helping Jowan escape, if only to reveal Lily's role in the plot, as well as severely punishing Jowan with the Rite of Tranquility.

Upon sneaking into the phylactery chamber with Jowan and Lily and smashing Jowan's phylactery, the group was confronted by Irving, as well as Head Templar Gregoir. Jowan, now terrified that Irving and the Templars knew of his plan to escaped, was forced to use Blood Magic, forbidden in practice by the Chantry. Jowan quickly escaped, and Gregoir incriminated Alimas as well as Lily for his escape. It was then that he was recruited by the Grey Warden Duncan, and taken from the tower, for who would have known what fate would have befallen him...

Now, many months later, after killing the Archedemon and ending the Blight of Ferelden, Alimas found himself tracking down a group of renegade blood mages, said to be opening a portal to the fade to let loose a torrent of demons that would dwarf the Blight and visit upon the world a never before seen reign of demons. Venturing into the sanctum of the blood mages, Alimas and his party, foiled the plot of the blood mages, but at a cost. To shut down the portal between world, Alimas was forced to use his most potent magics to counteract it. In doing so, the tear in between to worlds created a great backlash, which forced Alimas through dimensions. Now, wandering this world, he is trying to find his way back to Ferelden...

So begins...

Alimas walked into the bar. He was used to such sketchy places when searching for a lead on his next adventure. Since the fall of the darkspawn that had risen from the depths, Alimas was understandably underwhelmed by "work." It would be some time before his contacts arrived, so he decided that enjoying him time would probably be a good idea. His armor clanged quietly as he walked, taking a seat at a table on the left side of the bar.

Alimas noticed a damsel in distress. They weren't his specialty, but he wasn't one to shy away from a good deed. She appeared to be having a hard time with a headache, if nothing more. Alimas wasn't a specialist of the healing arts, but he did know some minor cantrips.

Alimas was a bit worried for the woman. Her pains seemed worse than he had expected. He got up from his table and made his way over to hers, his greaves clanking lightly on the wooden floor. He knelt down on the floor before her, putting an arm on her shoulder.

Alimas raised an eyebrow to the woman's reaction. He stammered.

"Uh, I- no. I just wanted to see if you were alright. You seem to be having some trouble. Can I get you some water or anything? I would hate for whatever could happen to you be on my conscience."

Alimas nearly let lose a sigh. At least the women wasn't generally anti-social.

"I am Alimas. I am... a knight." He staggered as he told her what he was. It wasn't necessarily the truth, but she needn't know that.

Alimas let an awkward smile stretch across his face. They were in an odd situation.

"Yes, certainly. Is there anything I can get for you? I am a trained medic." There seemed to be some quiver in his voice as he said that word.

Medic. It resonated in his mind.

Alimas sensed some distraction in the woman's eyes, as if she was looking at something far off into the distance. She was a troubled soul, but he had seen that before. The many enemies he had crossed blades with in battle were often times the cause of those problems. Things beyond most mortal comprehension went on beyond the veil. Both this world and the next were great bastions of strife.

"Well, some company is better than none, wouldn't you agree?" Alimas wasn't very good at small talk, but he seemed genuinely interested in Whisper's well-being. He noticed her eyes scanning the room; in his profession, it was not wise to be inattentive when another person was so alert.

"I can just leave if you prefer. I'm sorry to have bothered you." his eyes were not able to meet hers. He seemed to feel guilty about his interference.

Alimas gave a perplexing look at her first statement.

"I assure you, that will not happen. Even so, I am a trained by The Circl-"

He stammered again. He seemed to have a problem holding his tongue tonight. It occurred to him a second later that she had no idea what he was talking about. She didn't know of his origins. It was true that the templars had been called off, but there had been several over-zealous bountry hunters in the past.

"Just...don't worry so much. No harm shall come to you while I am here."

Alimas smirked confidently for once. He tapped the breastplate he was wearing. An olive color leaf was painted on it's front.

"Have no fear, milady. No blade has yet pierced my armor, and my shield has stood up to the unholy flame of an archdemon itself! If I were to injured by some faceless cur, I'd take my own life in embarrassment!"

"You'll note that there is no such club, my friend." Alimas raised an eyebrow to the interloper. "It is quite rude to provoke a fight in front of a lady and all the public to see."

Alimas scowled at Doran. Your hostility holds no ground in such a jovial place. I ask you once more to reconsider your stance. I have no qualms with you, for you are not one of the demons or darkspawn that I have sworn myself to defend my lands against." His fingers twitched parallel to his scowl.

"Please, for the sake of the lady, I ask that you pacify yourself."

"How vile." It was all Alimas could manage to say. He would not provoke a fight; it was not his way, but this being seemed to be touching more than a few nerves and violating all sensibility.

"You'd best watch yourself. I've vanquished demons with more scruples than you."

Alimas simply stayed silent, as per the wishes of Whisper. He did not like Doran in the least, but he was with enough honor that he would follow the wishes of a lady, at least to an extent. He was hopeful that some of the strength that this horrid man had mentioned would surprise him.

Alimas rolled his eyes, as images flashed through his mind, most of them of lobbed fireballs and the penetration of flesh on blade. He waited for a response from Whisper.
