Description

Alisha Serena Holland - Ace

19

Guardian

Eli

Ace is Caucasian from originally from Florida, America when looking at her background. Her natural hair colour is black but she's had it dyed red a few years back. She is around 5'6 in height and weighs around 115lbs. She's thin, but not stick thin. Ace has meat on her bones making her look healthy. Ace has that rebellious teenager look about her which fits her because she is a troublemaker and just has that bad girl look about her.

Personality

Ace is a typical argumentative and stubborn person. She hates being told what to do so the best way to get her to do what you want is to make her think that she thought of it and that's what she wants to do. For example: 'Do this because I want you to do it' won't work but 'X will want you to do this because of this reason' this reason being a disadvantage to her or something of the sort will put her off doing it and make her want to do the opposite (what the person trying to get her to do what they want wants). She often follows the wrong people, the criminals, thinking they are cool for being rebels which often gets her into trouble. And she is easily led astray if it sounds appealing enough. Getting Ace to do something for you is easy if you make it appeal enough. Hype things up and she'll do it.

She is loyal to her friends - fiercely loyal and protective. She had a younger brother that died - something that she tried to push to the back of her mind (again, if someone knows/finds out about this, they can use it to their advantage or against her e.g 'what would Dane think if you let him get away with your brother's death?' or 'it's people like him that killed Dane'. Say the right thing and make her think she's doing the right thing for the right reasons then she'll do it. It's for this reason that she often helps young boys that seem vulnerable - takes them under her wing.

Power

Power Mimicry - By having direct skin contact with someone she can copy their powers. She has to keep direct contact with them to copy their powers or have contact with them for over five minutes. Even after five minutes it only lasts for 2-3 minutes. It might be able to last longer, but she has no idea how to manipulate or use this power to her full potential.

Telepathy - She can hear people's thoughts

Empathy - Ace can also feel other peoples emotions with their thoughts. If they are grieving, she feels it. If they are in pain, she feels their pain etc.

Strengths

Ace is really good at channeling herself to feeling what others are feeling and hearing what they are hearing. It used to torment her but she's found ways to deal with it now so that she can tune it in and out when she wants to - in affect put a mental block on it all - so her head isn't constantly been bombarded while around people. If there is a bad guy around, she will most likely be able to tell you - if they haven't got a block on their feelings - and this could definitely be a strength depending on the side she ends up on.

Having grown up 'rough' or with rough friends and for the past couple of months on the streets fending for herself, she has learned the art of conning people. She can pickpocket without people noticing most of the time and talk people around into giving her what she wants before they even notice - of course it has to be the right people that can be easily manipulated like that. Some people can see it, others can't.

Weaknesses

Unfortunately, Ace is still relatively new to her Power Mimicry. She hasn't learned how to take advantage of this skill for herself and even though she can copy people's powers, she can't fully recreate their damage because she doesn't know how to manipulate it. With the right people guiding her though, they could take advantage of her and she could become a big asset to whoever she decides to join. To use power mimicry she has to have constant contact with them. Skin to skin. Not through clothes or other ways. It only lasts for around 2-3 minutes once the contact is lost if it was held for longer than 5 minutes.

She is often led astray and easily talked into things if she sees a gain for herself. This too is her weakness personality wise.

Her biggest weakness by far is that without her sight she is rendered completely useless. No sight = no powers. This may seem excessive but what she has to her advantage is that people may not want to think about gorging her eyes out because of the gain that a power like power mimicry could do along with her telepathy. It is a big power in the right hands, after all.

Another weakness of hers is the direct contact with people. To normal people she drains them of energy so they become tired and lethargic. If she has direct skin contact with any of the people with powers, she takes their power through her mimicry. She can't help it. She doesn't know how to control it.

Disability

Ace is deaf - completely. So telepathy and empathy help counter act that. She can lipread to a certain extent but even so, she sometimes struggles to keep up.

So begins...

The young girl looked around confused. How she got there, she did not know. What she was doing there she did not know. She looked down at herself and saw that she was wearing jeans and a tshirt. What was unusual was that gloves covered her hands but she had no idea why. She stood up from the ground and looked around the area. It was built up with lots of buildings. People were walking up and down the streets. Was she there before? Had she been dropped here?

Ace didn't know. But she did know that her name was Ace.

That seemed to be the only thing that Ace remembered about herself. Her name. She didn't recognise the city she was in but started to walk. She got ignored by several people and not many people seemed to show their concern about her and the confusion that lay on her expression. There was a hint of curiosity too.

Ace was completely lost though, in an unknown place. Ace was out of place in this area. Everyone seemed to be well dressed and well looked after themselves. They were well groomed. Ace was anything but. She got a few weird looks for it, but none the less no one seemed to disturb her because of her downed appearance and who knew, she could have any kind of disease in their eyes. After all her appearance was more wild and showed nothing of riches or wealth.

"Um. Hey. Hey, you."

Luckily, or perhaps even unluckily, for Ace, a man who had been walking down the way and who had spotted the rather lost young woman decided to give her notice. Coming up from behind, he tapped her on the shoulder twice.

The man was of a rougher sort than the more well-dressed in the current area, though he certainly wasn't as raggedy as Ace. He was clad in an old, navy duster with a red scarf pulled snugly over his neck, and a pair of dark corduroys matching with a pair of black camp mocs. In between his lips there was a cigarette, with smoke curling gently from the end. His hair was long enough to hold in a ponytail, and it was dark with streaks of silver here and there- greying early, one might expect. Despite it, he certainly wasn't unhandsome, as tall and lanky as he was.

Ace jumped. She hadn't heard the voice behind her. So she'd kept walking until he'd touched her shoulder and tapped it with his finger. She turned around, her hands up ready to either attack or defend herself. She had no idea what she was trying to do, but both movements seemed vaguely familiar to her.

"Who are you? Do you know me?" She asked, moving her long black and red hair from her face. Despite been deaf, she could still talk. She hadn't always been deaf, but Ace suddenly realised that everything was silent and that she couldn't hear. That didn't seem right. Before she could hear, she thought.

She looked around again just to make herself aware of her surroundings once more and trying to find a point she recognised there but her memory was blank and she couldn't even recall how she'd got there. The only chaos around the place was that she could hear and feel people's thoughts and feelings every now and then. She was doing something to activate it and stop it, but again, she didn't know what she was doing. It was like her body knew what to do but not her mind.

"Do you know where we are or where I live?" She asked.

The man raised up a brow at her. "I don't even know your name, love, much less where you live. If I am to deduce what's going on, however, you seem, um... a bit lost. Perhaps, ah, a bit more than as to where you are. Did you hit your head?" He brought up his hand next to his head, swirling around a finger next to his temple. "Everythin' scrambled up there?"

Amnesia wasn't uncommon, funnily enough. Kimo had met quite a few people with memory loss, most of them hopelessly under the effect of drugs. Most of them were from Wing City. He did not know if Van Leugen was the same or not.

Ace frowned, watching the man's lips and trying to pick up the whole conversation. For some reason she could read what he said without hearing it just by looking at his lips. Or most of it.

"I don't know what's happened. I can't hear what you say but I can hear some of your thoughts and feelings. I'm a little confused up here. Some things my body knows but my head doesn't know."

She frowned, trying to remember something but couldn't think. "I don't know if I am from here or not. I woke up and couldn't remember anything but my name." She told the man. "My name is Ace."

"Some of my... thoughts and feelings?" questioned Kimo, suddenly uncomfortable with the notion. He was sure empaths and telepaths were rife within Terra, however, the thought that someone was reading him right now was not a pleasant surprise. "Ah, I'm not so sure you wanna be seekin' around there. Might scare ye' a tad bit, y'know?" He tried to give her a humorous, crooked little smile, but the discomfort in the gesture was as evident as a stop sign in the face.

"Ah, well, nice to meet you, Ace," I think, "My name's Kimo. How about we get you out of the cold? See if we can figure somethin' out, yeah?" He reached out to place his hand on the back of her shoulder and guide her to one of a casual, nice little cafe that he oftened.

"Is that all you know? Your name's just Ace?" he asked, making sure she was looking at him when he spoke. Deaf and an amnesiac. What luck.

"I'm trying not to read anything... It's turning on and off. I don't know how to keep it off. My body knows but my mind doesn't and I can't figure it out. I don't know." She frowned, panicking over it now. She really didn't want to intrude on his thoughts or feelings. That was the worst thing to do. And she felt uncomfortable now.

She nodded once she'd read what he'd said, understanding what they were doing but she was still a little tense in the presence of a stranger and because she couldn't remember anything.

"Out of the cold will be nice." If Ace thought that reading thoughts and feelings was all she could do, things would eventually get worse. The gloves were not for the cold. "That's all I know. That my name is Ace..." She paused a minute though. "I don't think it's my real name. And I don't think I was always like this. My body thinks that I could hear before, and that I didn't do all this. I just woke up and now I can." She frowned as she followed the man.

"Well, you can pick out somethin' here an there. Guess that's a'ight," he said, leading them into the cafe. He ordered something for himself; something generous with its caffeine, and offered for Ace, as well.

After, he'd guide them to a small two-person booth in the corner. "Well... don't worry about that too much, right now, then. Just lighten up." He leaned his elbows onto the table. "I don't quite know how to help you. The best thing I could think of is to hand you over to a hospital or maybe the cops, but that might not do much of anything." He crossed his arms and leaned back in his seat. "So you think you might not 'ave been deaf? Does your head hurt? Maybe the inside of your ears?"

She followed her new companion, made her order and followed him to the booth before taking a seat and watching his lips so she understood what he said.

When he mentioned cops and doctors, fear suddenly and uncontrollably took over her body. "Please don't hand me into the doctors or the cops. I don't know why, but I can't go to either. I think they'll find me if I go. I don't know who they are exactly but I have a bad feeling." She frowned, holding her hand to her head. All she wanted to do right now was cry. This was a nightmare.

Ace tried to focus herself on finding out if anything hurt. Her head did hurt, but she had a feeling that was because she was been bombarded with peoples thoughts and feelings.

"My ears do hurt." She concluded, not even realising that she had small scars behind her ears. But then again she couldn't see behind them and she'd had no reason to look, either. "I can't hear but they do hurt."

Kimo shook his head, then swept his bangs out of his eyes. Well, now he had a deaf woman with no memory on his hands. Sort of. He couldn't find himself just leaving her somewhere in the Nillies, of all places, and having who knows what happen to her.

"Listen... um... look here, if I don't take you to the hospital or anywhere else what're you gonna do? You said someone's lookin' for you? Or more people? I dunno if I should be gettin' involved."

Especially when he had his own problems.

The biggest of which started to manifest just behind Ace. Kimo's eyes shot up to the tiny floating skeleton man adorned in a suit and a little top hat. It moved the bones of its face like muscle, and managed a big grin as it floated down to whisper in Ace's ear. "Aye, a pretty, pretty one, this! I heard deaf 'uns sound like a mule givin' a blowie, though! Aheehehee!"

Kimo grunted and pointed at- what would seem to everyone else- thin air. "Ey, you shut your mouth, you hear? You-" His gaze switched over to Ace.

"Ah, sorry. Some cunt behin' ye sayin' shit is all. Um... so yeah, you were sayin'?"

Ace frowned. She didn't want to dump herself on someone. She wanted to be independent, but when you had powers, were deaf and had no idea of who you were it was hard to be able to be independent. Sighing she shook her head.

"Don't call them. Please." She started, almost pleading.

She thought silently for a second. "You don't have to take me under your wing. I'm not a pet and I don't expect it, so don--" She noticed his expression change and stopped talking, watching him and then his lips. How? What was going on? She was so confused. She even took a moment to look behind herself with his explanation.

"I... It doesn't matter. I was just saying that you don't have to feel responsible for me. I can find my way. I just need to find a hotel and rest. Tomorrow I can think about what I should do. Maybe I can find a doctor that would see me outside of hospital." She was half talking to herself by then."
