Antagonestes

Rez! Kthxbai!

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by abedlamsun

Description

Antagonestes is a barbaric, tall man, standing at least two heads more than most. His height is even more exaggerated by the ibix skull he wears atop his head, over a leather coif. This same coif frames a squarish face, blocky nose, and narrowed eyes. His thick lips are generously curved to his left in a smirk, and his eyes narrowed in amusement at his surroundings. Cloaking his body is a heavy fur garment, covering a studded leather curiass, fur trousers, and iron greaves. He wears a wide belt upon the trousers, which carries his trusty longsword, in a fine leather scabbard, and hlited with gilt silver, with an steel crossbar. On his back is a large, brass buckler that shines unnaturally, which he calls Helos.

Goop.

Personality

Antagonestes is not a brilliant man, nor is he well-suited in speech or diplomacy. He is coarse, rude, loud, and arrogant. Most often, the last two get him into the most trouble; he will call attention to himself, become engaged in battle, and find he has been outmatched and underestimated his opponent. Antagonestes views women as playthings, men as rivals, and children as annoying. As a simple man, he is easily confused, and very often fears those who use magic; though, his fear usually translates into anger.

Dead men have no personalities.

Equipment

Weapons
-Warder: Antagonestes' trusty sword, composed of a fine steel blade that extends to a crossbar, covered by a gilt silver hilt with fine leather wrapping it. When unsheathed, it shines unnaturally, with comparison to the luminosity of the moon. Antagonestes is quite skilled with the sword, but fights with an open and violent style that relies on force and speed to throw his opponent off balance.
-Helos: Antagonestes' brass buckler, held on his back until he comes to combat. When taken in comparison with Warder, Helos shines much more brilliantly, but not so much as to cause discomfort to the enemy. Helos' brass is covered in a reflective surface, which at least absorbs most magic fired at him, though he is still very vulnerable to a more skilled swordsman or a gun.

History

Antagonestes was born on a holy day in his tribe, and has hence wandered about to make a living. He either loots, is a carpenter, or simply robs from people.

He was eaten by a gluttonous demon, he had no chance.

So begins...

Antagonestes grumbled as he stepped down the stairs into Gambit's Bar having absolutely no memory of how he had gotten into the establishment in the first place. "I'll give someone five seconds to explain why the hell I'm in this shithole," he muttered to himself. He didn't expect an answer, it was simply a general comment. Antagonestes adjusted his Ibix skull helmet, the horns extending far behind his head, the empty eyeholes of the beast's skull giving him, on top of his imposing height, an appearance of decay. "Bartender," he yelled, gruffly, as he approached the bar counter, "last tavern had nothing but pig piss and swill, gimme an ale!"

Antagonestes smirked down at Odgerel, taking up the stein with such a grip that the handle seemed ready to snap at the stem. "This better not be shit, woman," he growled, his eyes narrow as he regarded her. After that, he brought the stein up and took an abrupt, generous swig of the ale. It was strong, burned pleasantly, and wiped away any memory of that watered-down excuse for ale the last tavern had served.

Antagonestes scoffed, taking another deep swig of the ale. "At least it ain't pisswater." He grumbled as he took a seat, heavily, in one of the bar stools. "What the hell kinda fruity drink do you have there, anyway?"

Antagonestes gave a grunt in reply, turning his head a bit as he did, picking the stein up and gulping down yet another generous amount of the ale. Even though he was a large man, Antagonestes could tell this would hit him hard in a bit. "Y'drink, y'get drunk. It ain't nothin' complicated; even I get it."

Antagonestes nodded, the smirk replaced with a slightly confused twist of his lips. He thought he got the joke, but the brute wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed either. He took after Odgerel, though, and gulped down the rest of the drink, slamming the stein down on the counter. "Damn," he growled, smirking again, "I didn't believe anything could make me forget what passed as 'ale' at th'tavern back there."

Antagonestes snorted, shaking his head as he knocked the stein over; he could already feel a slight heaviness in his limbs and a strange fluidness in his movements. "The hell is 'Romulan' anyway?" Antagonestes snorted again, "Sounds like some frilly li'l pipsqueak."

Antagonestes grumbled, "What the hell could a couple'a damn prisses do to me?" The brute swung around in the stool, leaning on the counter, his fur cloak spreading open to reveal the leather curiass covering his torso, and the iron greaves on his legs. "Hell, send an entire fuckin' army of'em."

Antagonestes laughed loudly. Sure it was hittin' him hard, it just meant he had to pay less. "What kinna bullshit you spewin' there, woman? Antgonestes don't gotta listen to some harlot behind a counter!" He pounded a meaty hand on the counter, "After you're done with the other lady, grab me another ale; normal one this time, none of that other stuff."

Antagonestes grunted with a nod, taking up the stein with his meaty fingers and bringing it up to his lips. They opened, he took a swig, and halfway through he spat the ale into a wide stream outward. "The hell you pullin' here, bitch!?" He bolted up to his feet, the metal clanking against the floor, "That's the same stuff y'gave me before. The hell is y'r problem?"

Antagonestes growled, turning as he slung the stein, still partly pull of liquid down onto the counter, uncaring as to where it would bounce to from the throw. "I said normal ale, harlot!" Antagonestes bellowed as he drew himself up, only showing a slight wobble in his stance, "When I say something, 'specially to a gods-damned woman, I expect the bitch to listen!"

Antagonestes growled, his meaty fingers parting the fur cloak to the sides, Warder exposed, the hilt glinting unnaturally. "Yeah, harlot, I would. When I say somethin', I expect a bitch like you to listen." He leaned over the counter, his head bowed slightly so his Ibix skull could 'regard' the woman, as he spoke once more, "When they don't listen, I get steamed, so get me a right ale, none of that other shit."

Antagonestes had lost his intention to drink, by now. This woman had humiliated him, and so the brute took the stein in hand, and snapped his wrist forward, and then back, sending most of the drink toward her as he yelled, "I don'think I wanna drink y'shit anymore, harlot! Y've been a right little wretch." If the ale hit the woman, Antagonestes would toss the flagon back down onto the counter.

Antagonestes growled, a hand snapping around Warder's hilt, gripping it tightly between meaty fingers. "Told'ya, always like this." If there was one thing Antagonestes hated more than a woman defying him, it was a woman defying him and using magic to do so. His back shifted, and Helos came into view, half of the large buckler peeking around from his shoulder, glinting brighter than Warder's hilt.

Antagonestes growled deep in his throat, his lips vibrating against each other slightly, the thick flaps of flesh breezing against each other. It was an animal's growl, and the Ibix-skull helm slipped further down his forehead as he pulled Warder out of its fine sheath in a smooth motion, bringing the flat down to rest just a bit above the counter. "Yer an uppity harlot, a bitch talkin' like that when her parts're inside. 'Sides, no'ne talks this way t'Antagonestes."

Antagonestes grunts, smirking despite his indignation. "Y'hand's too high, harlot." Warder's blade turned with the brute's hand as he brought it down to his side, the glint traveling down along the edge of the blade as it lay parallel to his stance. "On'y two ways'a fixin' a bitch like you; slap'er, or put'er in 'er place."

Antagonestes growled; he didn't lose to a woman, much less an uppity one who didn't know her place. The brute shifted his weight, Helos coming within arm's reach. However, the barbarian brought Warder up with a quick flash, sliding the longsword back into its fine sheath as he stepped back from the counter. He slipped Helos down, his arm going through the leather straps behind the brilliant brass buckler, holding it at his hip.

Antagonestes grumbled, sword hand moving back to the wrapped leather hilt of Warder, sliding the sword just a bit out of the hilt, enough that it slanted down toward his side; both Warder and Helos were in ready positions, and Antagonestes ready to give the harlot who had 'teased' him a piece of his mind. He didn't admire spunk, he detested it.

Antagonestes growled with a chuckle, the Ibix-skull helmet lowering so the jaw reached down to his nose, the slits of his eyes looking through the gaps between teeth. "Sounds jus' like a woman. Startin' somethin' and then hidin' behind somethin' flimsier than 'er garment." He stepped forward a mote, and spoke out of the corner of his mouth, "Yer off now; find some other id'it who can pour drinks, and finish what'y started."

Antagonestes growled once more, deeper in his throat. Warder came out quickly, in an upwards-sweeping arc so its point would be directly in line with the back of her neck, though not within reach. Helos was held at an angle, covering his hip, thigh, and shin. "Think'y misunnerstood me, bitch." He leaned forward, Warder's point flashing, still several feet from the woman, "Y'off, y'gonna finish what y'started. Now, get y'ass back out here, and we'll settle this my way."

Antagonestes was furious, indignant, and, above all else, was being denied anything by a mere woman. The brute swung Warder down, toward a glass on the bar, the flat of the blade angled toward it so that, if it would hit, the glass would either shatter or go flying into the shelves of alcohol. Antagonestes was tipsy, arrogant, chauvinistic, and definitely not one who believed in self-control.

Antagonestes smirked, bringing Warder's flat back up onto his shoulder. "Seem y'get pissed too, uh-huh," he grunted, regarding her with the thin slits of his eyes. Not a moment after he finished speaking, did Helos come up in a brief motion, glinting brightly as the light caught it, and the edge came toward another glass, again, aimed for the liquor on the shelves on the back of the counter. Antagonestes was no genius, but he was good at his namesake: antagonizing.

Antagonestes tapped Helos on the bar counter once, before leaning forward against it, the right side of helm barely exposed behind the large buckler and the counter, only the hand holding Warder exposed in any significant manner. 'Course he could antagonize her further, he should send a quick and heavy thrust toward her right torso, leaving his fingers exposed and his back unprotected. Should his strike land, Warder would likely have a good chance of going through her. Antagonestes remained ignorant that he was also right-heavy in his stance.

Antagonestes pulled Warder back, letting it fall to his side, edge parallel to his body. Helos fell in front of him, covering his abdomen and thighs. The brute's Ibix-skull helm had been knocked down fully, the eye-holes holding his slitted eyes from behind them. Antagonestes turned to Odgerel, now absolutely pissed that his attack had been...somehow evaded.

Antagonestes growled deep in his throat, only turning his head for a second, still covered with the Ibix-skull mask, to regard the insane man holding an artifact with a guy's eyes in it. That guy was badass.
