Arden Sil Maximoff
Low Lord of the City

PHYSICALITY

Summery: What kind of man lives in a world were there are little to no consequences and all one can do is think about themselves? Truly does man even deserve the pity that was brought upon it by those who sit much higher than him or even by those who are further down the chain? These are simple truths one must keep in mind when it comes down to the art of magic and the essence from which it comes. Many can claim to have a connection to such a force and there are even those who believe that the arcane itself is nothing more than natures fluke trying to catch up with itself. I on the other hand disagree and propose that for the truest of practitioners the arcane is a mystery of the blood that should be studied and made viable to all who wish to wield its awe inspiring powers. Lest of all my employers will have you believe. Mars Corporation is a rather fickle thing when it comes down to it.

MENTALITY

Personality: Would you believe that in all the time I served any masters before me or as of right now that there is still a certain degree of respect I have for others? Truly I am the man who would hold the door so that you may tread on by in desperation to reach your final goal only to wait for my orders to remove you from this pitiful existence, mind you I will be polite about it. There are certain rules and precautions I think one should follow in order to be successful in what they do. From what I can say about myself though it would be that though I am born of a superior upbringing I do appreciate all the little things that most would neglect. While others might not think much of their subordinates or while some think little more of them as slaves or tools I would like to think that they are still people and deserve the utmost respect if I am able to get them to do as I wish. It is these subtle manipulations that I find myself enjoying the most as if it is a guilty pleasure I keep secret and hidden away from the world.
Quirks Though I carry a rather luxurious silver pocket watch I am afraid that the time piece itself is not in working condition. I understand that when I pull it out to look at the time it always remains at 4:00 in the afternoon and I do not have the heart to get it repaired as I see nothing that is truly broken but altered.
Moral Alignment For those who do not yet understand me I only blame the complexities of society and the strains that it has put upon on moral understanding of the human psyche and its destruction of the modern world itself. Pondering for countless hours as to were I stand is another thing entirely but I assure you if anything the quote I might adhere to the most would be, "Good, Bad, I am the man with the gun." I do not wish to place myself on either side of any line as it would not define who I am but as to what I would become. A hero of truth and justice or a monster of deceit and death. No to put it quiet simply I think of myself as the middle ground.
Goal Besides spreading the understanding of that which is arcane in nature and increasing my own personal power by that of knowledge or wealth.

ARMAMENT

Head Though one would imagine that many practitioners wear silly wizard caps that come to a point I am not so crass as to neglect the styles of my brothers and sisters of my home. No instead the top hat which I wear upon my head actually houses two specific arcane manifestations of powers depending on which way I bring my fingers across the brim. If I move my pointer and thumb across the brim of my hat from left to right I have within a rather spacious portable hole that connects through a small network of portals to many small trinkets I have collected and tossed within over the ages. If I am to bring my pointer and thumb from right to left I am able to connect to my home directly so that I am grab something personal if I have so forgotten it on my way out. A rather useful trick if I do say so myself.
Neck This old pendent? A family heirloom from a long forgotten past that I have yet to discover. From what I could trace back in my family line there was a duel between a relative of mine, a Mina Hoarcrux, a woman who has been lost to history and a rather powerful wizard who called himself Bigsby. Needless to say Mina won and in return she was awarded with a stone that sparkled in the light of day and felt warm to the touch. The enchantment that was placed upon the stone was one of elemental protection and seems to only work when whoever uses it calls upon a specific brand of protection. The only downside to it that I can find is that though it does protect against specific elements it does seem to make its owner weak against others for a time.
Chest To put it quiet simply I am wearing what many lords and ladies at the academies of arcana call the Regalia of the Archmage. Truly a marvel as it when I first came upon it was a rather gaudy mess of jewels and colors but upon wearing the outfit it conformed to my styles and I felt the serge of energies that it provided. Besides allowing me to cast an array of rather useful spells I have noticed that my spellcasting seems to be easier and almost silent while I wear the regalia. On another note it seems that the inside material has many wand and scepter loops that seem to conform to my body allowing me to hide a rather exquisite arsenal of wands and potions if needed.
Hands One will notice that a gentleman like myself has rather unique tastes and the two rings that I wear on my left hand will radiate with arcane magic like the rest of my attire if someone is honestly looking for it. The ring that sits upon my middle finger is a silver band with a rather unique diamond that is called a moaning diamond, rightfully named such as it does moan and groan, but it is not in pain nor does it contain any souls as it mimics the sound of earth and stone being forcefully shaped by the arcane. In essence the moaning diamond allows me to alter and change stone of any kind or just dirt alone and shape or move it to my hearts desire for hours on end before it must rest and recharge itself. The other ring which I wear sits upon my ring finger and is most dear to me as it is a black band and weighs heavy upon the hearts of men and mer who would it. In itself it is a spell storing device which allows me to harness the powers of spells I have cast or those of others and store it to use at a later time be it upon my foes or friends.
Right Accessory A man is nothing without the company of his walking cane, a icon of status in some places I assure you, and without this particular item I could recount many terrible times without. This however is no ordinary gentleman's cane as it is also the symbol of my status in my practice. It is in essence my staff, equivalent to most wizards I suppose, and it allows me to focus my casting of spells. The small orb that sits atop of my cane allows me to contact the many lords who I have made binding contracts with so that in case something is a bit to much for me I can simply step out to the back and let my summons take care of the situation.
Left Accessory If I am without a cigarette in hand then I am nothing especially considering I have a rather nasty addiction to substances that have a snippet of magic backing their potency. I keep a silver housing box for my little addiction inside my regalia in a small pocket that sits over my heart.
Waist Sitting upon my hip is a small spell component bag that I had personally commissioned. It houses all the odds and ends I need for more specific spells that require material components instead of the push of energies.
Legs Just a simple pair of trousers that I find compliment the entire ensemble.
Feet Yes I know they do not look like much but I assure you that these shoes are the real deal when it comes to quickly striding across great distances in class. The Shoes of Thunder-stride are wrongly named as they do not emit a thunderous sound when one simply goes out and about for a walk but actually give the owner the appearance of a lightning bolt when he needs to hurry to a specific location. Almost like the gods themselves were to move about in a rather silly fashion allowing everyone to see them in all their glory.

Bio/History
So begins the story that I find myself recanting for time and time again as many people after they hear this either know to much and in the end try to kill me or they find themselves dull by the end of the experience, neither of which I wish for any man. No instead I think I will just recount the days of my youth leading up to this after both my Mother and Father were killed in a fire that destroyed my home and left me without a single coin to my name. I was a fairly innocent child at the time of the tragedy and was taken in by the family eccentric who later sold me off to some pimp when his own fortune was running low. I served in a bordello that doubled as a boarding house from time to time so that the authorities at the time would be none the wiser. I was cast out in the world due to the fire at age 9 and grew into a world filled with whores and disease by age 12. Though my years of staying under that roof taught me many things about the secrets of men and women I always found that my eyes tended to wander from place to place until I matured enough to realize that I was gifted with the abilities of sorcery. It was roughly around seven years later when I had acquired enough money I left the boarding house to make my own dreams and riches and used every last coin to study my abilities and grow stronger. Age 24 I began my own business and started to amass enough coin to buy out every housing district that my world had to offer and here I am now.

So begins...

Curtis found himself in a dark locker room now somewhat fiddling with the combination. The police would soon be checking close to everywhere, which mean he needed to get the fuck out of Asteria before this confusion could clear up.

A nervous twist went to his gut for a moment as he wrapped the stones in a small gift box and placed it in a paper bag leaving it inside and closing the door in the dark public shower. The unmasked costumed villain took a deep breath for a moment placing the cowl to the torso into an open bag and relocking the container once more.

Safe and sound and quietly the thief began to undress out of the damn costume in the supposedly locked building, a bundle of warm jogging clothes and a duffle bag next to him to store the former uniform and costume and then slip just right out of here…

Fuck he was going to get caught. He was going to get caught. SHUTUP!

And caught he was. Though it did take some time and Arden had to turn in several directions before he even got anywhere close to the locker room itself the old enchantments on the necklace shined as brightly to him as any star in the night sky. The door was also a slight problem as Arden frowned ever so slightly only to place a single white gloved hand upon the handle and gave it a bit of encouragement to open the perpetrator was caught and right as the poor fellow was switching over to his normal civilian clothes.

"Not that I do not have a problem with the majority of the staff that was present at the party but you are one in particular who did not escape my attention." Arden took a step further inside only to allow the door to shut behind him while his left hand suddenly held a strange glowing orb that seemed to light up the dark building allowing only minor shadows to dance off in the distance. The sorcerer raised the butt of his cane to the thief and kept his gaze upon the man. "Ms. Howe's necklace if you please. I would like to return it to the lovely old woman once she wakes up. You know she has a rather nice smile and it warms the heart to see her happy." Arden could not wait to get this over with and it was about time especially sense the police had now arrived on the scene. "You can either surrender to me or go out there and deal with the cops. Honestly the choice is yours."

Curtis turned his attention to the sudden arriving sorcerer that nearly made him shit his briefs. The other had caught him literally with his pants down, the big mucleheaded blonde somewhat having the equalient of a panic attack as the other arrived in.

How!? He looked to the locker which now had something glowing inside of it in this faint darkness. Of fucking course. The police were also indeed arriving and you could bet your ass they were more than capable of locating both Curtis and the stones through very similar means if he stick around.

“Fine. For christsake let me get my pants on first.”

Curtis grunted for a moment pulling up the sweats as he just worked the combination lock once more and digging through the locker to pull out the assorted rubies. Well! There goes another payload down the shitter!

“Take the damn necklace and get out of here.” He cursed him.

"With pleasure." Arden spoke as freely as one man could when being victorious. The Sorcerer simply walked over to take the necklace and tossed it under his hat for safe keeping. Once the business was done and over with Arden simply lowered the butt of his cane down and turned away from the thief. It was no matter of skill that the sorcerer had but the wits to use it. "I suggest next time you decide to pick a place to steal from you better be more prepared. The Howe family has always had a deep connection with the arcane for several generations. I would have expected such a thing if I was in your shoes." Arden began to chuckle as he reached for the door. "By the way your best bet to get out of here is sticking to the left side of the park."

Don’t tell him how to do his job! Curtis was left there for a moment just glaring at the back of Arden’s head as he so smugly went out. His eyes grew fierce and continued to have the feline like trait iris before growing dull and normal. He took a deep breath and finished packing up, quickly slipping out the scene as the supernatural experts were being let inward.

The Library was not empty and as The China Doll made her way inside she would be confronted by a friendly face with a load of books in hand and a rather peculiar outfit that seemed just as dated as her own.

"Hello, greetings and salutations, I doubted I would see yet another face at this old façade but then again the lure of knowledge is rather tempting." The Dark haired man simply offered a little smile as he turned his attention down towards his destination only to set the stack of books he was carrying down upon an old table.

"Roy! We have company, a rather lovely lady no less." The Dark haired man simply began to chuckle as he turned himself more towards the woman who arrived at the temple. He gave a mock gesture of respect and simply left his arms open as if offering all that she saw before her.

""I am Arden Maximof, Sorcerer by nature and inquisitive at heart, might I perchance ask what your name is my fair lady?"

A little surprised she partially jumped only half, before giving a formal polite curtsey. After that she walked over, "My name matters little in this time, but being you asked so graciously, you shall hear. My name is Loretta Burrows. I am charmed to meet such a gentlemen even in ruins, perhaps there is hope for this world now." chuckling she moved over to a shelf and pulled out a bundle of scrolls, which she took to a nearby table and opened up, "My concerns are little more directed. I am attempting to find information on the forgotten older nations. I have found some information regarding this, including finding out they all had ambassadors on Jarrako Downs, whatever that is. But outside of that and name of one... Macluan there is very little data on them, thus I intend to find all I can and publish what I learn." taking a pause she sat herself down at the desk and pulled open one of the scrolls, at once it flew across the room, "As much as I wish to learn dark eldritch secrets, I must focus, but you are welcome to read that one..."

A few scrolls later having been flung across the room, she brightened, "Ah this is something, there is a place called Metro City that once was centre of Terra, but after a huge calamity most information was lost about it." taking a breath in excitment she immediately added, "Now I wonder could this place contain information it says the area was essentially bombed so much that the whole landmass is radioactive, hmm... perhaps not..."

Arden smirked but Roy who stepped out fully to see the newcomer gawked in terror as she simply tossed aside several scrolls. Even though they were dark the knowledge hidden within was valuable regardless of the danger the posed. After all they where stored within these archives for a reason.

"Are you kidding me!" Roy groaned as he ran over to collect the scrolls. The alchemist only hoped that the velum of the scrolls had not been torn asunder by such reckless care. "Arden! Help me. This blustering......foppish....Why in the seven Hells is she dressed like you?! Do you both not realize how cold it is around here?" Roy blustered on as he stood looking at the two in Victorian garb. The Alchemist himself was in a heavy jacket that was open along with a long pair of pants and boots. His trusty bag of invaluable goods had the insignia of the Order he was from and even the Bar that he now worked at.

"Roy, my good man, relax. Doubtless the scrolls survived her little onslaught but I assure you she most likely did not mean to damage whatever research materials you where after." Arden simply waved off his concerned and pointed to the stack of tomes he procured from a nearby shelf.

"I happen to have found maps and other information. I imagine that this would help wonders in your research and that...." Arden was cut off as Roy suddenly threw his bag to the side with a loud thud while simultaneously casting several spells to mend and make the scrolls whole once more. "You know Arden I doubt this partnership will last much longer. You promised that this locale would give me insight of the monster that took my child. The longer we stand for idle conversation the less time I have."

Roy simply shook his head and turned to look over the scrolls. The young mans eyes began to glow an ominoius yellow color as he quickly deciphered the archaic text. The Alchemist had little time for pleasantries as he moved from one text to the next. Arden quickly turned to the young lady only to look over what she had found. "I apologies for my companion, children can be a unique hassle, he is looking for his son and I agreed to help him...Ms. Burrows. Prey tell is that a star map? Not the one you are looking at now but the one just underneath it?"

Immediately her eyes lit up in interest and she walked over ignoring the other with a slight sigh, "That is debatable, my experience those who pursue such dark knowledge generally end up being hurt by it. In fact a Necromancer I met once in my travels came to awful fate when he tried to use some knowledge he had gathered from Dead Sea, ancient scrolls and tablets, the poor man--- he was very polite and utterly charismatic, much like the devil. Anyway his house was flattened supposedly he grew impatient and tried to use the tablets without understanding them. It was such an awful clean-up, so many dead. Many fine excellent individuals, really was a blow to our Occult Society, although he had been warned we did not understand those tablets. Poor Victor, alas." chuckling she appeared to be comparing Roy with this fool."

Approaching the table, she noted there were a lit more helpful books here, making such challenges of learning more here, really promising, "I can't thank you enough Mr Maximoff. I am also trying to understand why these nations are no longer around, because they all vanished round about same time, well some a few years apart, but such an event is unprecedented, it would be like if there had been two nations of Atlantis and both vanished with one another so closely together." listening his remark she giggled a rather posh one, less girlish and more joyful, "Oh yes Mr Maximoff I am well aware of children, many a suitor was upset to learn I myself don't wish for children. Of course it is sad he has lost his own, hopefully they can be found... Nonetheless dark arts is not the way to find them... I know other stories..." before she could add, her eyes were turned towards the star map, immediately she lift it up and started studying, "Well that is one mystery, Jarrako Downs is a space-station, my oh my the plot thickens, so how does it connect to the fall of these nations..."

Roy began to grumble a few draconic words that could only be translated as a few nasty words one should never say in polite company or rather infront of a lady. Arden however simply turned and began to trace a few stars in a rather strange pattern.

"Indeed, it seems that Jarrako Downs is something, however I was more drawn to this little notion here." The gentleman sorcerer continued to trace the stars till their dark specks on the old map began to glow revealing their arcane origin. "It is a star map to a particular region of space. I do believe that with this bit of knowledge Roy and I can finally part ways so that he may retrieve his boy." Arden began to chuckle as Roy walked over to inspect the map only to suddenly grimace as his knew the location but could not believe it to be real.

"Arden, this is the entrance to the plane of negative energy, I cannot simply stepped in without the proper protection."

Continuing to study the map she did notice the magical influences and even in her focus she was attracted to such wonder. But nonetheless she kept reading trying to pin point information. The star charts were great, for finding the places, but she needed far more information before continuing her research. Still it was a start, but how to utilize this information. Evidently more research was required, "Mr Maximoff I can't thank you enough, but this raises more questions. Why this space station so important to these places and why is it in so much of the texts I am afraid I have less answered than truly desired. Yes I know what Jarrako Downs is, but I was hoping some of these records could perhaps even describe or begin to detail the other nations..." growling in frustration put her head in her hands, and breathed heavily.

For a time she said nothing, "I have one more piece, there were six nations and one is Macluan. Though for the life of me I can't find what planet they were situated on nor how vast their empires were... as much I hate it, I may need to go through Aschen archives unless I can find more informations... I am so close I know it... but I won't head to that space station without actual answers..."

Arden smiled at the inquisitive nature of the young woman. If there was anything he could offer in the way of answers he simply shrugged and left a calling card.

"Then I think this is time for us to part ways." Arden gave a mock bow only to offer a warm smile as a goodbye while Roy got his things together and opened up a rather strange portal against one of the bare walls. Soon the two of them would leave and make their way over to the next locale.
