Classified Archive Profile
Austin James Marshall is a Special Agent in the Terran Intelligence Bureau. He is Agent 317, callsign 'Vulpis'. He is primarily a field and reconnaissance agent with a mission-bias towards infiltration, extraction, assassination and counter-terrorism. At twenty-five years old, he is one of the youngest agents in the field. With over five successful missions under his belt, he is also one of the most renown.

Agent Marshall was marked by a spotter at age eighteen when he was observed stealing an expensive necklace from a jeweler. When confronted by security, he succeeded in talking his way out of the situation until the stolen necklace fell out of his jacket. Marshall proceeded to incapacitate three security guards before fleeing the store. He was tracked and found living in an abandoned warehouse. After a struggle, he was detained by Agent 489 and was brought back to Veritas where he was recruited of his own consent. His training began almost immediately.

For the next seven years, Marshall mastered every level of field training, from basic to tactical. He studied the cultures and histories of both Terran countries and many intergalactic nations, becoming fluent in over a dozen languages. He completed every available course for weapon handling, from light firearms to heavy explosives. Under the TIB academia, he was schooled in chemistry, physics, biology, mechanical engineering, advanced calculus, paranormal studies, theater, kinesiology, botany, basic medicine and toxicology. Despite destroying many of the training cars, he was taught to drive a plethora of different vehicles, from motor automobiles to heavy transports and even to spacefaring vessels.

Marshall's past is hazy and unclear, mostly because the agent rarely speaks of it. He recognizes having a mother and brother in his youth. They lived in extreme poverty, and the mother eventually died of untreated syphilis. Austin and his brother, Edward, split ways and became stragglers. It was during this time that Austin developed exceptional thieving and stealth capabilities. He also learned how to fight hand-to-hand in the Israeli defense system of Krav Maga, learning from an old master in exchange for whatever liquor he'd managed to steal that day.

Austin suffers from a rare neurological disease: citofacin (cito - quick, facina - action), caused by a malfunction in the motor and sensory neurons in the brain. As the neurons release catecholamine neurotransmitters between synapses, the velocity at which the neurotransmitters move is accelerated beyond all normal human parameters. As a result, the lag-time between thought and action is shortened drastically. For persons suffering from citofacin, thought and action are one. Years of therapy have allowed Austin to train his "disease", focusing himself to prevent every passing thought from being completed as action, consciously choosing what he will or will not do. His condition also gives him a considerable edge on the field. Without any lag time between brain and trigger finger, Austin is an extremely capable fighter and gunman, his kinetic speed almost inhuman. Nonetheless, Austin still struggles to maintain complete control of his disease, failing frequently.

In terms of his character, Marshall is an optimist and an extrovert. He is a great lover of humor and sarcasm, never failing to find something that he might smile (or smirk) at. Although he has consistently shown great bravery and courage on the field, his valor often evolves into blatant recklessness, particularly when confronted with bleak or hopeless situations. He is a risk-taker and a daredevil; the more dire and desperate the objective, the more enjoyable it seems to become to him. A skilled orator and speaker, Austin craves society and the company of others. When left alone for extended periods of time, he has been known to talk to himself. His bright character seems to be a helpful tool for the agent when he is tasked with impersonating a character or acting out a role in his various assignments.

Despite this, Marshall has frequently demonstrated narcissistic behavior and overtly forward sexual tendencies. He flirts recklessly and without restraint and has had dozens of known public relationships, all of which lasted no longer then a month. His ego frequently clashes with other authorities on the field, and Marshall will often abandon a set-plan in favor of a direction or course that he deems more effective. Despite his obvious tactical success on every mission he has been sent on, Marshall has been suspended from duty three times, detained four times and brought up on charges of sexual harassment twelves times.

"Not by virtue of her complete lack of sociability, I can assure you of that," Drulović replied, also standing. She gripped her cane, squaring her shoulders, and seemed, for the moment, much thinner and frailer than in the few stock photographs the media used in their occasional articles. Ahmad had told her as much only the other day, and she'd dismissed him, but he seemed uncharacteristically persistent with his concern. "I'm afraid I have to apologize to you, Ms. Van der Walk," the director added after a pause. "Normally, I would have liked to have offered you and Mr. Marshall something to drink and something to eat, but it seems I've not had as much time on my hands these past few months as I had had before. I hope you'll not hold it against me too much, as I am terribly sorry."

"Ah, I see." Alexandra replied nodding slightly. The meeting had dissolved into social niceties, something which she was neither comfortable nor uncomfortable with. "Oh that's quite alright, it happens to the best of us." She said clasping her hands behind her back for a moment as she listened to Drulovic. Alexandra had never really had reason to meet with the woman, at least not until now it seemed. Everything had always gone through the multiple assistant directors or sub level directors the TIB seemed to have. She just hoped when she got to where she needed to be going it wasn't a total disaster no thanks in part to Austin Marshall.

"Then I'll see you in the morning no later than eight-thirty. I'd hate to miss the flight." Drulović's tone was pleasant and light as she made her way toward the door, already keen on returning to her own workspace, far from the ostentatious display some bureaucrat in Parliament had thought fitting for the office of director, and, more importantly, far from curious young employees in the Bureau hoping to loiter about the director's office. She so rarely felt at home in the new building, even though the Bureau had occupied the infinitely more secure and spacious Susurrus Tower for years. Even the name was so obviously the result of some politician's rather unwitty attempt at humor. But so long as the important work of protecting the nation continued without interruption, Drulović supposed it didn't really matter much at all.

"Lil' bit," Austin shrugged, receiving a coffee, sniffing it once and taking a few tentative sips, "we milked some info outa' that contact we caught. Joran's work. Luckily, we haven't heard eye-or-ear of those Cybran bastards ever since we drove them off the shores of Gonthar. Everyone's just hoping we've seen the last of them." The agent rolled one of his shoulders forward and simmered down into the booth across from Til, grinning as he watched the gargantuan NPA Enforcer try and make use of his tiny laptop.

"Why, you heard anything about them recently?" the agent inquired.

"I've heard that there has been a couple of sightings in Wing City of people that seem to suit a Cybran. And there's more hackings on the web, like I can ever use the damn thing." Til groaned, slamming his fist into the computer and put it back in his bag, "Why do we even use this shit? Anyway. I was talking to one of the advisers in the local Uni, he says that with the things happening on Gonthar, they might not be lying. It seems that the tanks and stuff that was used on Gonthar don't match what the Volarians had said about the first landing in their area." He rubbed his left eye, while taking a gulp of the hot chocolate, taking at least a quarter of the cup in that gulp. He placed it back down and leaned back, "I honestly don't think that the government is doing enough. We should have at least talked to them. I don't know what you go out of that one from Joran. I don't really like him. A tad creepy if you get what I mean."

"Didn't match?" Austin perked a brow, "what's that supposed to mean... were we invaded by two different factions simultaneously? Or maybe the Volarians were lying about something..." Austin shrugged. He supposed either was possible. The Matriarchy hadn't exactly been friendly to the TNG as of late.

"As for that Cybran that Joran grilled, I can't say I know much," he sipped again at his coffee, "that whole operation was hush-hush after he went to Veritas. Heard the TIB took custody after that, though I can't say for sure." He smirked. "You'd be surprised how little they tell me around the office.

"Honestly though, Cybrans are the last concern of the TNG right now," Austin nodded, "what, with the Shintenchi nations running military drills across the pond and prepping for a war, the politicians in the Wing are just trying to keep the planet under wrap." He glanced down at the murky liquid in his mug. "Heard the Aschen are fighting a war in Isirian space, too. Don't have much time to help defend Terra like they did during the last Cybran invasion." He chuckled. "Hell, between the Shintenchi here... the Isirians there... let's just hope and pray the Cybrans don't decide to come back right now. They'd find things a helluva' lot easier to conquer."

"Yes, but I feel that something could appear, and a number of my contacts thing the same. I have no idea how the Cybrans could get here, but fuck the Aschen. I've got the feeling that if war does kick off between the Shintenchi states, they could come back and make a breakfast of us. I honestly don't think that attack on Gonthar was all of it. I think it was only about one percent. And with the way things are playing out, I don't honestly know what's going to happen." He sighed, rubbing his eyes. He sat up and sipped at his hot chocolate, downing the rest of the mug. He set it down and pulled out a file that he and a number of the advisers had put together. "I think you should have a read at this. Something me and the guys at the University's think could happen. Honestly, I think there could be a bigger war in three years time."

"And with the Shintenchi states, they can fuck off. They're all shit bags. I say we nuke them. And if the Aschen are fighting themselves in Isirian space, it's an even better time to attack them and start an empire. Because being on a single planet will not protect us."

"Hey, I'm not exactly a fan of the Shinenchi states either," Austin nodded, recalling his last visit to Avantia's palace, "but I don't think the big-wigs up in Parliament are intent on nuking the place to pieces. War seems to be the last thing they want at this point." The agent yawned, throwing his hands over his seat and arching his back. It cracked cleanly. "But this... hunch of yours..." the agent leaned forward, "...that there's another Cybran attack coming... you might want to think about taking this to command." He nodded his head. "Because if those Cybran bastards are coming back, then you get bet your ass that we won't even remotely ready for them like we were last time. It'd be easy pickings. The TNG needs to be prepared."

"Command won't listen to me, they never do. And if the traffic online is true, well this come be the final straw for anyone. People from the outer reaches of the galaxy are talking about more and more Cybran ships around that area. I don't know if it's true or what, but nobody seems to pay any attention to anyone about this. And what's this about the Republic of Ushabti arming it's forces up? Is it another bloody war?" Til groaned, looking at his grubby hands. He glanced around the whole diner then out the window. "I just have this feeling that something bad is gonna happen. I don't know where, but it will be soon."

"Let's hope you're wrong, Til," Austin shook his head, "let's hope, for our sake, for Terra's sake, you're wrong..."

He looked ominously out the nearby window, lost in thought.

The Old Cybran Agent swallowed, carefully watching all the messages going to and from the government buildings of Terra. She was Cybran of course, but the way she could take all the messages in and paint a much brighter picture in her mind was almost amazing. The only thing was, she was dying. She had had a number of tumours erupting on her stomach, yet even though she was an agent of the Cybran Nation, she wanted to give something to the Terra government. With a soft sigh, she got up, looking at her maid and sighed, "I need a drink... Is there any Nectoa left?"

"No ma'am." The maid sighed, checking the fridge as she replied. She ran a hand through her hair, hearing a couple of cars arrive outside. She turned and clicked off in her high heels, peering out the door.

Christine groaned, sitting back down. "Is there any meat?"

Warren Aulare was wandering aimlessly about when suddenly he smiled at the sky. For a moment he stood there and stared up into Terran Orbit. A satisfied nod and he turned on his heel with new direction. He thumbed at the die in his pocket as he made his way in to the city.
