Avery

Mirror mirror on the wall...

0 · 218 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Celedia

Description

Name: Avery

Age: 19

Species: Human? :D

Occupation: Works for a psychic hotline. No joke.

Appearance: Avery probably isn't what you would imagine when someone says the word "Psychic Hotline". Miss Cleo and perhaps any other old batty lady with crazy hair and a crystal ball would be envisioned but Avery is quite the opposite. Youthful and slender with pitch black hair and dove grey eyes, she stands at about 5'3" tall and is quiet but mostly friendly.

Skill/Powers:

Mirror Walking: The ability to teleport from one mirror to another unless it is specifically warded against magic. Counts for any size mirror though not broken mirrors.
Dancing Mirrors: A cloud of miniscule mirrors float and encircle the target, effectively blinding/disorienting them.
Mirror Scrying: A physical image that is reflected onto the mirror's surface for all to see. The scrying point is produced at a defined position (Example- somewhere the caster has visited and can visualize). Can be dispelled.
Divination/Retrocognition: This usually works better when Avery has something belonging to the target (piece of hair, etc) but it can be done if she has spoken to or visited with the person. Depending on the connection felt with the intended target, she can try to delve into the person's past or acknowledge their present predicament. So far she's had no luck with the future.
Reflective Healing: The caster stands in front of the mirror and magically transfers all of their injuries onto their projected image. If the mirror image takes too much damage it can shatter.
Shard Spray: This spell creates a plethora of razor-edged mirror shards which orbit the target, slashing at them until they are either dispelled or the spell expires.

History:

Using her unique branch of divination (Mirror Magick!) she can usually catch a large enough glimpse of the persons past or present life to give her the material needed to construct her 'reading'. She's using the cash from her Psychic Hotline gig to fund her college experience and she's currently enrolled at WCU (Wing City University), studying Biology. She has a unique affinity for all animals and in her apartment she currently houses two dogs, a black cat, a hedgehog and a Barn Owl.

"Help..." she winced again as he picked her up since the motion caused her body to curve but then she remained pretty stationary so she began to relax once more. "Helping people?" She repeated as if not believing him quite, at first, but then her eyes grew wider and she seemed panicked all over again.

"Then you can find them! Wha-" Another wince, another shot of pain coursed through her lithe frame that took a moment to get over before she could speak again. "You can stop them from doing... this...." She could, of course, go to the police with the information but the information she had was scarce. The multiple injection sites were from sedatives that they had used on her, keeping her unconscious for most of her capture.

Then, it seemed as if she finally recalled his last question and she murmured, "1912 Penn Street. West of the city... Small farm."

Avery looked crestfallen and she turned her head to stare in the general direction that they were heading instead of facing him. "Avery. My name is Avery..." She trailed off, her one hand still pressed against her stomach as her other arm stayed looped around his neck in a half-attempt to help him carry her.

They were nearing her house. Her tiny farm was in sight and considering she hadn't been home in several days, her eyes brightened a fraction as they got closer. "There.. the white house there." She lifted her arm to point and winced once more in pain.

Baron wouldn't receive the recognition he deserved. At least, not yet. Avery didn't live with her parents because she had transferred into Wing City University and was staying on the upper floor of the very house they were in front of as a tenant of a little old man named Richard. It was all she could afford with her modest income and the elderly man never seemed to bother her much.

Still, her belongings had been stolen and she just now realized that they hadn't been tossed out with her when they had dumped her out of the van. So she rang the doorbell. Inside, there was a scuffling sound and a brief bout of cursing before a small man, perhaps 4'10" tall with a wide round face topped with silvery hair snatched open the door.

"Whaddya wan...." He blinked through large thick-rimmed glasses at the site of Avery and instantly became more animated.

"Where in the 'ell ya been, girlie? Yer parents 'ave been calling 'round 'ere e'ryday lookin' for ye!"

Another figure pushed their way through the doors and into Gambit's. Surprise, surprise. Apparently it was going to get busy in here tonight. The figure was short and notably feminine despite wear a sort of baggy t-shirt which hung loosely on her small frame along with a pair of shorts and some flip flops. She walked rather stiffly, as if afraid to move her torso too much. Maybe she hurt her back?! Who knows. In this city, injury was probably the least of a human's worries.
