Axinn

The God-King holds my loyalty, but my people do not.

0 · 247 views · located in The Dwarven Stout

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by SkullJester

Description

Official Alneh Military File

Birth Name: Axinn
Family Name: Sparkcross, a family that has provided merchants, blacksmiths, and warriors almost exclusively.

Age: 84 Cycle Passings
Weight: 159 stones
Height: 5'10"

-Strength: Slightly above Orange average
-Agility: Slightly below Orange average
-Intelligence: Fairly average across all racial boards, meaning that for an Orange, it is rather high.
-Durability: Prone to burst of energy in combat rather than sustained warfare. Having said that, however, he is in peak condition and can carry out low-number combat for long periods of time.
-Combat Prowess: Fitted and trained in Weapon Arts of Single Sword, Long Bow, Cross Bow, Dagger (both thrown and wielded) and heavy shield. He also belongs to Center Heavy Vanguard General's 2nd Wave Battalion. Tradition Heavy Vanguard Armor.

Observation Notes: Taken on his Maturity day, the same as all his peers, it was quickly noted that Axinn showed extreme loyalty to the royal family and even to the nobles themselves. While not expected, this is smiled upon. When he showed adeptness in martial combat, as well as strategy, he was quickly elevated in both his training and rank. He has acquired numerous scars, burns, and markings during his training, the most notable being a burn that trails down the right side of his face and then down the center of his back, along his spine. Another interesting mark, or rather, apparatus he posses is the Alneh 'Ghosthand'. Having lost his own during his training with Scaleman chieftan Rul'Xir'Muurth, he was sent home and had a metal hand grafted onto the stump. This hand was then augmented to change shape and solidity to his will, and with a thought, he can make it a normal hand, clawed, or into an almost smoke like consistency, being able to control the 'ghost hand' at a range of almost forty feet. This only helped him further his career, an odd arsenal added to his extensive training. Value to the God-King is rated at above average, for a common soldier.

Personality

A cunning strategist, and an adept warrior, he is disciplined in all aspects of the Warrior's mind. No liquor unless in celebration, healthy diet, constant vigil, never falter. Laughter is only affordable if it is at times of guaranteed safety and comfort. Most importantly, let all personal slights and wrongs fall before your feet, taking offense at only the greatest of insults. Always defend the honor of the God-King and the Highmourne family, and to the Alneh Sanctum, pure in blood and unrivaled in might.

They are lesser races, but they have their uses and their exceptions. Keep an open mind but always remember you are superior in training, in experience, and in stature. Even the lowest of us, our Mud-Eyes, are above a human king. Human gods, in fact, every other being's Gods are lesser than ours. They an inconsistent, unreliable, and above all else, driven on faith. Our God is here, with us. He speaks to us, holds us, reassures us, and leads us. Nothing more and nothing less. He is an assured thing, based in life and fact.

Axinn holds these 'Personal Laws' high in his mind, however, he sometimes forgets the rules about drinking and laughter. His time among the lesser races has somewhat altered his perceptions and thoughts. However, he still holds true to his heritage, and will always put his nation first. He awaits the day he is called home.

Equipment

Axinn carries with him his personal armory, and little else. He was taught to live a spartan life style, and that luxury weakens a warrior. He has his own home, near the Skyfall - Alneh border, a small hut and a personal stable for his steed, a red stallion named Breaker. As for weapons and shielding, he brought with him his Vanguard armor, Vanguard Longsword, and Vanguard bow, all of which are crafted from black marble and Alnehian steel. He also carries with him his family's ancestral blade.

History

Axinn, as stated, started his career at the age of maturity. After graduation at the age of 52, he served his time on active duty, taking Leave Until Needed. He then set off to seek worldly experience in Skyfall. However, he never fails to leave Alneh for long, keeping his hope right on the border. While he bears no animosity towards the other races of the world, he doesn't exactly care for them. He offers his services as a sell sword, and an adventurer for hire.

It had been a long, hard travel from Irondale to the lands of Humans and...even lesser races. It was hard for Axinn, even now, with a half-Alnehian child, and a human mate, to accept the idea of 'equality' among races. The idea was so foreign to his peoples core beliefs. Geared out in his breast plate, swords at his hips, he walked into the, and he had to be honest with himself, above average tavern. Whispers and quips went up. 'What was an Alneh doing here?' 'Go home, Toadie.' 'Guard yourselves, boys, don't know what he'll do.'

Axinn simply ignored them all, and took his own seat at the bar. "Ale. Black as you can manage."

He snatched his ale and drank it, slowly. It was weak. Weak. Almost disgusting, but it loosened the dust from his tongue and throat. He would give anything to remain in his little hovel, in his little home, with Jess and their unnamed child. However, he had things to do. For his own sake, as well as that of his Lord Highmourne.

More company. More people looking at him. He was used to it by now, living in Skyfall for such a long time. Stares, death-threats, cross words and crossed swords followed an away from home Alneh where ever he went. "Disgusting...Anything for Jurgis Vine Wine again..."

Someone addressed him? How odd. That happened so rarely, it almost startled him. "Its not the strength that I mind so much. Its just the taste. Wheat? Barley? Hops? Grains with no flavor, and they serve it at a highwayman's price." Axinn spat, pushing the mug as far away from him as he possibly could.

He could feel more eyes on him now that he had opened his mouth. With a sigh, he began to rub his eyes, growling to no one in particular. "Damn it...I'm just trying to get home, and the journey is taking far longer than I ever imagined it would. Where is home for you, girl?"

"Outside our borders, our orders are to simply be called just that. We are all Alneh, with the pride and power behind those words. However, I've lived in Skyfall long enough. Axinn. You may call me Axinn." He said with the very smallest smile, might as well be polite enough, as long as she would return the favor.

"As for what I'm doing...Its just that. I'm going home. All soldiers are being called back to our Fatherland, to the swamps. The Royal family has a new decree, and every soldier, active or not, must attend." He paused. "Or so I think. That is what I was told, anyway."

"I have been here for...well...a very, very long time, truth be told. I even have a family, so to speak. But I have to leave them, for the time being." He sighed and pulled his mug back into his grasp, choking down another mouthful of the semi-foul liquid.

"No...Not me personally. I received no personal call. But it is my duty and my oath, to hear His words in person." He remained tense, one hand on the hilt of his blade, a precaution. "And your name. Return the gesture and state your title."

"It is not so much for you as it is for those around you. Around us. As I am sure you know, the Alneh are neither loved or welcomed in this land. They blame us for every plague, every assassination, every time they stub their toe." He made sure to say the last part allowed, almost laughing. "Cowards unwilling to take account for their own incompetence."

Having his back to the door, Axinn mostly ignored the arrival, mostly due to the fact that in all honesty, he didn't much care. It was not out of rudeness or hatred, but out of sheer indifference. Already dedicated to a conversation, and so on, and so forth.

"Its also somewhat funny. These people. They truly believe that my race are the monsters and the deviants. We have never had a civil war. Our lands are prosperous and relatively crime free. I believe its a shift in blame, and that is all it will ever be." He spit on the tavern floor, eyeing one particular group of patrons. "A pox on this land. Granted the fates have already beaten me to the punch. A pox on this land."

"Aye. I've heard of your people. Spawn of demons past, or some other such nonsense. No offense meant, of course." A short chuckle. He could hear the men behind him growling. Go ahead. Try something, you filthy, naked rats. He returned his attention back to his companion, for now however. "So, that staff. It looks...ancient and marvelous. By chance, is it Alnehian in origin?"

"Ah. Then no people of mine ever made such a thing. The desert is far too harsh for us to even consider a short term stay. All for the better. A dry climate does not suit us." He waves away his own question, as well as waving to the secretive, tall individual. Taller than any human could ever be. "What do you think that is, Qenna?"

Axinn waved his hand up into the air, in the direction of the cloaked figure. "You there. Man! Thing! Get over here and join the non humans. I'd use superior races, but...they might take offense to that."

The Alneh pulled up the closest chair and waved again, not really wishing to be ignored. "Yes, you, come over here. I'll pay for whatever you wish, but just come join the merriment."

"I have no clue as to what slop they'll be serving to us this day. Don't worry about it, I'm sure you'll find some better quality food on the hill sides or...wherever else you try. Human food is not entirely the most...amazing." He coughed slightly.

"And...what do you mean, you aren't from around here? From Skyfall? From...where exactly?" He was curious now, and almost weary. The grip on his blade only gripped tighter.

The planet by this point was mostly obscured with clouds and storms. The had rolled in starting from two places unseemingly connected; somewhere in the Weargtooth Mountains, as well as the Exalted Mountains. Before long Gaia transformed from a green globe to a gray one.

Lightning spidered across the planet to strike somewhere on Siv'en. It spidered again to strike, this time over in the Kadota Peaks. Again the lightning struck up in the Weargtooth Mountains. Purple sparks beneath the clouds sprung up for an instant over what was north Ellaria beneath the clouds.

A force grew stronger across Gaia, and as it did another force weakened. There was a quake - though barely able to be sensed, something deep beneath the ground stirred in Siv'en. The clouds there illuminated, sky breaking for a moment to reveal a valley bathed in light, before a great flash and the light dissipated, dark skies again closing in to obscure the view.

The dead star Eras shifted ever so slightly. Nobody but the greatest mappers of these stars, having had tracked them for a millennia or more, would notice anything irregular about the movement. It was slightly, oh so slightly, faster than usual. Eras's great mass moved fully into position, placing the great Soja directly between the dead star and the planet. With this stellar line formed, Eras' power could truly grow. The magical nature of the Chousin called to Eras, well within his grasp. He tested the waters, pulling power from the Chousin as he did the stones of the Iskjerne Viking settlers, of the Taiyou weapons, of the Whispering Woods and the Bez Daha Trees. He took a little sip, and liked what he tasted, and went to draw more.

Gaia called to the champions. Time was running out.

Eras finished his great move. In position, the dead star continued to drain life from the forces of spirit, magic, and power surrounding Gaia. The great alien structure was a main target for Eras. As he drew from the Taiyou ship, drew from the Viking's forged stones, drew from Gaia herself, and the sword far below, Eras grinned.

It was very faint, but a new light emerged in the sky. Not so much new as newly awakened.
