History:

Born to Lady Gaelia Rowan Renwick and Lord Drayarien Sligos Taleme, son of the High Elder Lady Gwenavere Ilena Taleme, Ballad was born into high privilege, or so it goes. Most people underestimate the quality of life as a noble child. Ballad never had any friends as she grew up because she was always subject to strict behavior patterns, various studies that occupied nearly all of her time, and never being allowed to go outside for so called 'safety reasons'. She was always told stories about one of the help boys named Runic. He was the only black haired elven around the part of the forest kingdom she lived in. The grounds she lived on were massive, she lived in the main manor while the stable boys tended to the horses that belonged to her father and his small army of men. They were only about 20 strong. It could certainly be a hectic household at times, but that was their culture. There were small cottages for some of the men who had families, but the others lived in the north wing of the house, known as the soldier's wing. A couple of the stable boys were then traded off to become Knight's apprentices and even some of the noble boys from the neighboring lands.

When the boys had finished their work, they would sneak into the kitchen of the main house to get Ballad's father's barley wine. According to most, he made the best in the grand forest their race lived in. Ballad was often woken up by them and learned how to be sneaky so that she could watch them. She always found it fascinating to watch them, Runic was often the oldest in the group, the shrewd younger boys talking him into helping him get to the collection. As time went on, Ballad tried to see more and more of Runic as she got older and as he progressed through his knight's training. In her opinion, he was often the best of the group. Ballad was always close with him, just as she was her father and her mother.

It would come upon the day where her mother insisted that she choose a guardian since she was now allowed outside of the house. Without a second thought, she replied that she wanted her knight to be Runic. That was one of the things that started their deeper bond. She hadn't known until after she had chosen him to be her knight that he had a rather bad crush on her. She adored him for that but because he was a knight and she was of nobility, many a person disapproved. A couple of years later, her parents had issued the idea that she was to marry Fenrir Strongbow, the son of a noble from a neighboring land. She immediately disapproved as she wanted nothing to do with a brainless brute.

Eventually, her mother caved into her request to not marry Fenrir and instead bound her with the knight she was ever so in love with, the black haired border land elf, Runic. Her father was appalled, but not only for that reason but because Ballad also told both of her parents she had been visited by the dead. She had shared her grandmother's gift to see the spirits of the departed. However, it didn't go quite as planned. Many of the nameless souls that lived in the forest began assaulting her and it forged a split personality. Her other self manifested strongly by protecting Ballad when Runic couldn't, showing herself by having orange eyes instead of blue.

About a year into her psychic manifestation, her mother died of unknown causes. The funeral was held on a rather rainy day and to the people of the estate it became known as the 'music box funeral' due to her mother being buried along with her infamous little Music box. Shortly after her mother was buried, Ballad was also given a music box of stained and lacquered cherry wood. Two days later, her father banished her and Runic from the land. His reason was her desire to marry a man of common decent, but the true reason was her father's dislike in psychic forces. Had he been capable of denouncing his mother, she was positive he would've.

Now she and Runic wander about, Ballad still carrying her ties to the family fortune, and they go where the winds take them. Runic has always been her faithful guardian, companion and love.

So begins...

Ballad chuckled softly, feeling his forehead come down to press against her's gently. She'd close her eyes half way, a small smile crossing her face at the mention of her father's warning. "Neither did I," she said softly as she nuzzled him. She reached the hand of her injured shoulder, her shoulder feeling back in working condition as he had healed the cut enough. It was no longer bleeding and she could use her arm again. She brushed her hand against his face. "Let's go inside before either of us catch a cold..." she suggested in a light voice.

Ballad pulled herself up, her dress torn at the shoulder due to the injury that had been dealt to her earlier. "Runic, please don't do this, you could die,' she said in a worried tone as she held onto his forearm. "Please," she pleaded, looking up at him with worried blue eyes as her stringy wet hair clung to her forehead, cheeks and neck.

Ballad pulled one of her hands back, the other hand staying firm around Runic's forearm. She had nothing to say. She didn't know if she wanted to risk it. She looked hard at the vampire, water starting to drip down her face from her bangs.

Ballad watched Runic fall to the ground. "Runic!" she screamed as she lunged for him. She wasn't fast enough to keep him from hitting the ground but she did sit by his side. She pulled him up onto her lap, holding onto him as the crimson she saw began to stain her dress. "What did you have to go and do that for you idiot?" she asked as she held him closely. She had tears start to come from her eyes, mixing with the rain. "Don't leave me alone again," she pleaded in a soft voice to Runic, gently petting his hair.

Ballad took Runic's hand in her own, which had become cold from sitting out in the rain as they were. She was starting to cry harder, tears just mixing with the rain. "I love you Runic," she said softly as she looked at him. She held onto his hand tightly. "Please stay with me... please," she pleaded. Then it occurred to her. Many people around here were medics or healers. They could possibly save him! "Medic! Someone! I need help, please!" she cried out, hoping someone would hear her pleas for help.

Ballad looked up at Icey when she appeared. "He's been stabbed and he's weak... he needs help," the noble lady pleaded, holding tight on Runic's hand.

Ballad used her free hand to rub her eyes clear them so she could see. She pointed out the wound in his abdomen. "Please, someone get a healer," she began to plead in a small voice, "He's dying." She didn't want to think about that kind of situation, but that's what was happening and it was crushing her.

Ballad looked down at the black haired elven man she had in her lap, her white dress stained red under him. She was growing silent. "He's been stabbed and.... I won't have that," she noble said, "I won't let him die," she stated to the healers. She seemed to have a slight mental crack.

Ballad ran her hand over his wet hair. "Shh, don't talk," she said to him as she kept him in her lap. No way in hell was she going to let him go. Her voice was loving and soft, her hand then brushing over his face. She was trying to remind him that he loved her and he had plenty of reasons to not die. She then looked over at the female that was trying to heal Runic. "You may stop now... I have recognized the staff this woman carries... she'll be able to help better... thank you... you have done more than I ever could," the red haired woman said to Icey while looking at Runic.

Ballad looked up at Nighda. "I wish he would live a long and healthful life, free of poisons and anything that ails him, body or otherwise..." she said in a soft voice. She also looked at Shiver being how Icey had left. "Please let her know that he thanks her for her attempt," she said to Shiver. She began to run her fingers gently through his hair, a soothing attempt at the pain the poison caused.

Ballad loved Runic, of course her wish was sincere. Why would she say something like that about someone she loves and then not be sincere in the slightest? She closed her eyes tightly, praying to the forces that be in the high hopes that the spell worked. Something, anything would be better than watching Runic die in front of her. Though of course, though even if he was healed, the front of her dress was absolutely ruined now, stained with his blood. She just about started to cry tears of joy now that he was okay.

Ballad sneezed as she had been sitting out in the rain for too long. She was an absolute disaster. Her hair was stringy and wet, her gown ruined and her skin becoming pale from the blood rushing out of it due to the cold. She was utterly exhausted from the whole experience she was starting to feel a bit light headed. She needed to get inside or else things might go a little more wrong. She didn't have feeling in her legs right now though. She barely had feeling in her arms right now. She was happy that Runic was alive. She was ecstatic. But, nonetheless, her now exhausted body wanted rest and it took it. Ballad fell unconscious, falling over to her left with her hands coming up under her head.

Ballad snuggled up to Runic in her half-sleep state. She was exhausted but she wanted to spend every moment she had with him. She was still soaked and she was still looking rather ruined appearance wise.

Ballad woke up slightly more, looking up at him. So the tides had turned. At least she wasn't dying though. She smiled slightly. "You were cute even back then," she said softly, her lipstick obviously starting to wear off, but the shade under it was more of a mauveish pink than a pale pink. She shivered slightly. "I should probably go back up to my room... or something.. get out of these wet clothes... you should too..." she suggested in a tired tone.

Ballad pulled herself up to her feet. She used Runic to help her keep upright. "Just a quick change... I have a sudden desire to try this... 'ramen' I have heard about," she said as she looked up at him, "Will you join me love?" she asked in a petite voice.

Ballad frowned slightly. "Well you need to sleep. I'm not always in danger," she said with a pout as she lead the way to their fourth floor rooms. She swiftly disappeared inside of the elevator.

Ballad lead the way to their joined rooms, a small trail of water following her since her dress was absolutely soaked. She pulled out her key card and swiped it, opening the door. "Age before beauty," she teased lightly, holding open the door. She held the key card in her clammy hand until they were both inside the room where she put the key card on one of the suite's many little tables.
