Baltoji

A giant, wise, and kind-hearted polar bear who is always looking for a fabled, never-ending library.

0 · 97 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by xTheSmokex

Description

Name: Baltoji

Aliases: Bear of Dreams

Species: Snow Meska (Humanoid Bear)

Ethnicity: N/A

Age: 148 Years of Age

Height: 9'0"

Weight and Body Type: 1300 lbs. Baltoji is a very large bear; like most Snow Meska, his blubber levels are high, but the muscle underneath is plentiful and thick.

Skin/Fur color: His vast amounts of fur is technically clear, but because there is so much of it, he appears cloud-white.

Hair color: N/A

Eye color: Crystalline Blue

Hair Style: N/A

Facial Hair: He has a small braided goatee running down the bottom his his snout.

Tattoos/Markings: On both of his front shoulders, there is what looks like a black paw print burned into his fur. He has two pink scars running across his snout, a small one above his left eye, and a long thin scar running down his chest, stopping right before his belly.

Facial Features: Again the scars and the goatee, but besides that - he's just your average giant, walking, talking polar bear.

Skills/Abilities: Since this Meska is exceptionally large, he has quite the unbreakable strength as well as a colossal tolerance for pain. But Baltoji is not a fighter, in fact he'd much rather talk things though, see logic than to face his enemy paw to paw. He is an amazing speed reader and can remember an astounding 98% of everything he's ever read, heard, or seen. Aside from these remarkable talents, Baltoji also has the amazing ability to make people sleep, and when he does this, they have wonderful, loving dreams with him in there, nurturing them until they wake. He can also alter the level of tiredness in a given crowd, making them more prone to laze about, as he loves to do. Since he is a Mystic of sorts, magic has a hard time affecting him.

{Clothing}

N/A (His thick and vast amount of fur hides his genitalia you sicky sicko.)

Personality

Baltoji is extremely warm-hearted and open to all sorts of people, all but the most evil without hope of returning to the light. He is an avid reader and could spend days reading a book, if it was long enough. He loves being comfortable and can easily fall into long stretches of simply lying down, snoozing, and curling up once again. He is not angered easily at all, but when he is angry...one should be prepared to feel his wrath. But all in all, he's fairly mellow and always loving; as such, he is a big fan of children, and heartily enjoys reading and telling them stories. He has a heavy baritone voice and speaks quite slowly at times, the wisdom apparent in his tone.

Equipment

All this Snow Meska carries is a large, black leather satchel that may hold a number of books, maps, and currencies of the world. If he ever needs to fight, which is rare, he has his large, sweeping paws, plus their claws, and his sharp teeth. His left claws are covered in a deadly steel, gold, and silver alloy, making them exceptionally more dangerous than his other paw.

So begins...

Baltoji opened the door to Gambit's with one paw, and in waded the 1300 pound Snow Meska on all fours. It wasn't until he was all the way in did the bear stand up on his hind legs, his full height being nine feet, and shut the door behind him. The Meska, needless to say, was absolutely ginormous; he had a couple of scars running across his snout, a small one above his eye, and a long, thin one running down his chest just until his belly. All he carried was a large black leather satchel, nothing more. His crystalline blue eyes spotted the bar, its tender, and the man he was conversing with. He sighed in content as he walked further into the building, nice and warm.

Upon reaching the bar, he pulled the satchel off of himself and let it fall to the floor with a loud thump. "Hello there," he spoke to the bartender in a deep, booming voice, his speech itself slow and heavy. Baltoji leaned against the bar, it creaked a bit under his weight, "May I have a large glass of...warm milk?" He then looked next to him at Zorro and gave him a warm bow of the head, "And hello there as well."

Baltoji purred, "Ah...thank you, kind gentleman." He reached down into his dropped satchel and pulled out, of all things, a few Mexican pesos. After sliding these over to the bartender, the bear stuck his snout in the glass and began to eagerly lap it up...ah...he'd wanted one of these all month. In between laps, he watched as Zorro left, and eventually asked Zekil, "May I ask you your name, bartender?"

Baltoji let his snout leave the glass after only about a quarter of the milk remained in the glass; he ran his tongue over his nose and under his chin, gathering any leftover milk on his fur. "Zekil," he repeated to himself, "what a nice name." He stretched then, a scene that may have been frightening to some, his jaw opening wide and his tongue reaching the air. Finally he rolled over so that the back of his head and neck and head were resting on the bar, even though his lower half was still technically standing. "I am called Baltoji, it is nice to meet you. Is this lovely bar yours?"

Baltoji chuckled along at Zekil's joke, a deep, resonating sound that was easily contagious. Once the bartender held out his hand, the bear reached out, but instead of shaking, let his claws softly graze against the back of Zekil's hand. "It is a pleasure meeting you as well. You do good work here, I sense this," he replied meaningfully. "If you ever need good dreams, tell me, and it shall be done." If this was meant to be taken literally or not was more than a bit ambiguous; either way, he took the glass in a paw, emptied it into his open mouth, and then set it on the bar before gently lying on the floor in front of the bar and curling up. "Do you have good dreams?" he asked finally.

Baltoji seemed to ponder Zekil's words for a small while before finally saying, "We have to worry, so much, about what our day will be like. What dangers might occur, what circumstances we must face. We worry ourselves to death, in the end, that is truly what happens. It is through sleep that we are healed, and thus, sleep should be a safe place. Nightmares are but extensions of our worries, and should have no place among our dreams." He was quiet again for a few moments before reiterating, "If you need good dreams, tell me. Baltoji grants only the sweetest of dreams, and the most restful of sleeps." On both of his front shoulders was a black paw print that looked to be burned into his fur. If the talking and walking hadn't given it away, this was no average polar bear.

Baltoji rolled onto his back as he repeated what Zekil had said, "Warnings...yes, that is true. And good, I hope you put me to good use." The bear laughed a bit and rubbed his own belly for a moment, the amount of fur on this Meska absolutely appalling. Once asked the question, the bear yawned before answering quite simply, "Yes," and then stretching out on the floor.

Baltoji stretched once more before rolling back onto his belly and stating, "That is a very good question." It was evident, after that, that he was unwilling to speak of the significance of the paw prints. The giant polar bear watched as the new young woman walked into the bar. She looked very...Halloween-esque. "Hello there," he said warmly to her in his deep, booming voice. He looked back up to Zekil and asked, "Do you have any raw meat on hand, by any chance?"

Baltoji lifted his head suddenly, peering out a nearby window. In a few moments he was standing upright on his hind legs once again at his full height of nine feet, put on his satchel, and grabbed the raw meat in between his teeth from the bar, heading for the door. "Thank you for everything, Zekil, sweet dreams everyone!" He then rushed out the door, gnawing the bloody meat as he left.

Baltoji trotted into the bar on all fours, the massive polar bear barely managing to slip through the doorframe. Once fully inside Gambit's, he rose on his hind legs to his full nine foot height and closed the door behind him. He didn't have his satchel with him today but didn't quite seem to mind, that thing was heavy. He bore a couple of scars across his snout, a small one above his left eye, and a thin long one running diagonally down his chest. On either of his front shoulders was a black paw print that seemed to be charred into his fur. He was a behemoth of a bear, 1300 pounds of him, but looked to be friendly enough.

He stretched out a bit and then lumbered over to an open space, and crumpled down, immediately rolling over onto his back and yawning. To no one in particular, he called out in his deep, booming voice, "I am in need of assistance if anyone would be so kind as to help me!" His speech pattern itself was slow and drawn out, as if he thought long and hard about each word he spoke.

Baltoji looked up, and looked more or less happy to see the bartender. More or less only because it was hard to read a bear's face. "Ah...Zekil, your name was. Good to see you still alive, people die a lot." Whether this was supposed to be a great realization or not, he continued, "Anyhow, I am faced with a great conundrum, and I need help. It is of the utmost importance. Can I trust you with this task?" He lifted his massive head for a moment, giving the bartender a meaningful look with his own crystalline blue eyes.

Baltoji replied quite simply, "Well, I do happen to trust you, as I have not had reason to do so otherwise." He stretched out once again, letting loose a huge yawn as well. "Ah, that's right, the important task. Brave bartender, I grant you a quest of the utmost importance. Would you please give my belly a good rub? I have had a stomach ache ever since I ate out of your Dumpster." He lifted his paws so that his belly and chest area was wide open, the vast amounts of fure beneath his belly looking quite soft. "I would appreciate it extensively."

Baltoji closed his eyes in pure bliss as his belly was rubbed, letting his head lie back on the floor once again. "It was not an easy choice to make. All I knew was that the leftover teriyaki chicken was calling my name - what I did not anticipate was that it had already gone bad." He seemed to think for a moment and then added, "It was absolutely delicious, however, and I refuse to regret a thing."

After a small while he patted the demon's shoulder with his huge paw and said, "Right, that's quite enough, thank you very much brave bartender." He rolled onto all fours and then rose on his hind legs once again. "Have any good books to read here?" the bear asked suddenly.
