Bamboo thought this over. They truly had no trade, and she believed if nothing else this con inspire a technological boom in trade. The shifter woman smiled and nodded. “This is a very large thing you ask of us. I am sure you understand the ramifications this may have on our economy. Thus I can only ask that the same be returned.” If they wanted a lack of tariffs or import taxes, they wouldn’t get it without a similar deal.

Ship board duty was not something Bamboo, used to much faster methods, took well too. Indeed, most Travelers hated using any form of transportation but their training to get where ever they wanted to go. Though there tended to be some delay, it was nothing like the delay offered by a space ship.

Bamboo was aboard the bridge as they approached 'the cage.' Wing had been over joyed and not wanted to hold out on the Belkan trade announcement, to Bamboo's displeasure, but she couldn't exactly override the Empress. The announcement would make it that much difficult however, in their next target country for trade.

The Phoenix was a small golden ship that looked more like a passenger ship than a battle ship. Bamboo barely knew what the things capabilities were either, other than to look fairly impressive aesthetically, which was all Wing cared about either. It was perhaps a good thing the King was more militarily minded than his Empress was.

The AI would be allowed in the system, though with bare minimum access. Bamboo signaled the captain to keep this thing still, and wondered fi that was even possible with the giant tin cans. However the captain managed it. The ship would be difficult to identify, being nothing like what the UCON had encountered before. Different culture, no contact. Their technology would have developed very differently.

The captain of the ship would ping the CNS Wanted Dreams back. "Attention CNS Wanted Dreams; we are aware we are in Coalition space, but it seemed the most expedient way to contact you. This is the ESS Phoenix." The Captain identified pleasantly, though there was a hard edge to his voice.

Bamboo's eyes narrowed and the edge dropped. She did not put up with jeopardizing any thing diplomatic very well. The captain continued. "We are here on a diplomatic mission." He said then cut contact, waiting for the other ship to initiate contact with them now.

Bamboo sat up straighter, primly. She wore a business suit, almost military in its appearance, in accordance with the human business culture she had studied. The diplomatic culture had seemed to follow that. "Hello Admiral Blitz. This is Ambassador Bamboo of the Erutin Empire." She replied quite peacefully. He didn't seem to be too gruff. Very much a military man though. Very well. Military culture rarely changed from species to species.

"Her Imperial Majesty has requested that I make contact with the United Coalition of Nations regarding possible trade between our people."

Bamboo frowned at the screen, and looked to a technician who looked very apolgetic and motioned that he couldn't do a thing about it. Space weather. What was he to do. The ambassador sighed and turned her attention to the screen. "Not even for the sake of mutual profit? I assure you, we have no intention of doing anything but remaining neutral. No nation but our own has her Majesties permission to access any technology, no matter it's original purpose, that may have military application." That announcement should have been delayed. It should have been torched!

Her Majesty was going to get an earful from her Prime Diplomat alright. Improper conduct or not. "We are aware of your war. Emperor Kampf has informed us he intends to have peace. It is my...professional opinion as a Diplomat that" how to put this politely and diplomatically? Hmmm. "Emperor Kampf underestimates the determination and might of the UCON, despite his tenacity." A polite was of saying Bamboo, despite her mask of polite manners and tolerance, believed Kampf to be full of bull shit, and lying to her Majesty. "Is there no peaceful relation that the Erutin Empire and the Coalition may obtain? We do not wish to be involved in this conflict. It's frankly none of our business."

Bamboo's eyes visibly narrowed at the cocking of the gun. She forced herself to remain calm and level headed though. Well. There could hardly a more clear threat than that now could there. She stiffened visibly, becoming ram rod straight. Whether the sound had been an accident or not, however doubtful any military vessel could have such an accident, Bamboo would certainly not forget the quiet threat presented by it.

"Her Majesty no doubt will. She has a generous and forgiving nature, after all." Bamboo paused as if thinking of how to word this best. "We can certainly understand you stance on this as well. Perhaps after the conflict is over, somethign may be worked out." Doubtful. Kampf had Wing convinced her wa sa gentleman, despite the reports of his peopel's practices. "On a personal, and not political note however. I do not take well to being threatened, but given the Hegemony's diet, I will forgive this instance."

The guns would not slip out and blast them. The captain was itching to give that order and it was clear, but she would not allow it. Neutrality. Neutrality and peace. A war of this nature would be too expensive and have too little profit to be worth it. "Her Majesty has instucted me to inform you that when the Veritas gate is opened to the public, you will be allowed one ship through for trade or exploration purposes. Do be sure to follow the instructions of the gate keepers. I would hate for anything to happen to your ship, should you choose to accept." Though he'd probably say no.

"It is said that the surest measure of a culture is of their conduct in wars and the state of their prisons. I would hate to see the state of your prisons, Admiral Blitz. However, I am my Queen's servant, and if she desires further contact after this conflict, than she shall have further contact." Bamboo said simply. She could be very diplomatic, but the woman did not take well to threats spoken or unspoken. "I cannot abide by cannibals, so I will wish you luck in your conflict. Her Majesty wishes the Coalition peace."

That much was true. Wing wanted peace for everyone. The Empress held too big of a heart. "I can only hope that we do not clash due to a misunderstanding in the future. May Aurnotho and Pholo, our goddesses of strategy and warfare, be with you."

The video link would be cut abruptly as the ship turned and sailed off. They would not be using any of their more advanced tricks for now. They would leave until well out of the detection net, using only technology readily available now. Bamboo was not in the mood to make a show of any sort concerning the fleet's abilities.

Even if it meant she would remain on the ship for longer. Slow thing. She needed speed. Instantaneous gratification in location transferal. Oh well. It would give her time to file her report on this event.

"Quite agreed. I am glad to see that your nation is one geared towards commerce. So many here are not." She hummmed as she took a small bite of the fruit that had been set out. Delicious. "The lack of tariffs and import taxes is agree upon then. The goods will be taxe no differently than any other good in out nation."

A lovely spiel to let her know to insure the lest was adhered to. She glanced over the long list, only picking out a few random items. Interesting. "We have similar items yes. Bamboo, ran her fingers along the seam of her goggles, before pulling out a cardboard rube. She pull the tube from the goggles themselves and smiled slightly as she popped it open, producing the list.

Holographic projections, while certainly possible, were not widespread in her country. Rather, the paper was just that simple paper of a high quality. There was a thin glimmering strip along one edge to mark it as having somethign electronic embedded into the paper, but that was all.

"I quite understand. Consider the registry submitted." She said, summoning the same shy seeming Erutin as before into the room after jotting down a quick note. She handed the registry to the girl, who glanced at Seth and blushed, then hastened away with the papers.

"Everything is going so well, Councilor. I should let you know now, however, that all armaments and military technology is included in the list of our contraband items. We are a nation of peace."

It wasn't that. So much as they were attempting to appear a lot more peaceful than thy had recently been. Civil war left a sour taste in any nation's mouth. "I am glad that you have such a system in place. Shall we work on drawing up a mutually beneficial trade contract, Councilor Seth?"

"Oh?" Well didn't that allow a lot of leeway. Bamboo smiled, entirely pleased. It certainly simplified things. "I am glad to hear that. It's a pleasure to find such an understanding nation." She praised gently, very pleased. "Most certainly a pleasure."

"Ask away, Councilor. Ask away." The shifter servant returned to remove their dirty plates, and shot Seth a coy look. Her intent was clear. Bamboo glanced to the servant girl hurried away blushing. "I apologize for her Councilor. She is new."

Ten Million Carditas? Seth asked for quite a bit. A very large amount indeed. "While I will have no problems securing the economic data for you, the ten million will take approval from Her Majesty. I am not authorized for such a large transaction myself." She had never seen even one million Carditas. For that matter, she had never even earned one million Carditas, not if you added all she had ever earned in her entire life.

Something told her that the Jackalites were very much not aware of how tightly Her Majesty controlled the value of their money. The demand was very nearly outrageous and she considered telling him just that. Perhaps worded gentler. "I can certainly understand how cut throat the world of business can be. It is partly for that reason that her Imperial Majesty is very careful with the value of our money. I believe that our economists have calculated one of out cowrie to be...perhaps 5.2 times the worth of the Aschen cubit, if that would give you a measuring rod." She said simply. "Her Imperial Majesty may not agree to ten million Carditas. She may instead agree to ancilla, or trochus."

It was spoken to seem like a word of caution. It was also entirely true.

It was an impressive currency. Bamboo thought the matter over further. "We have our own bank for safe guarding out financial security, but thank you." She said simply, thinking it over. "Please, tell me more of your guilds. I am eager to learn all I can of your culture and your people. It sounds like it is a most profitable culture."

It sounded like a culture entirely geared towards profit and making a profit. Her own cultures focus had been on expansion for as long as history told. Expansion and the comfort of their people at least. They all suffered enough as children that as adults, comfort was considered important.

Though Wing was working ferociously to cure some of the cause of this built in selfishness. It would be a logn hard journey.

"Fascinating." Bamboo said, looking deeply interested. "I cannot say our economy has anythign of the sort. Perhaps our businesses are not quite to cutthroat as your own." She said simply. She looked highly interested actually.

A savage merchantile society. This would be interesting. They'd have to be careful.

Bamboo laughs. "If you speak of our Queen as that single entity, then I must say that for her, is suits. We purposefully ensure that the gentler of a twinset if the one that rules. The harsher member of the ruling twins is often unable to produce an heir for him or herself, and entirely powerless once the gentler one is married."

Which was a bitter blow, but they only held some power before that. "It has proven chaotic in the past, but for the most part people of our nation to not focuse on their rights, merely their wants. They have a great many individualy rights after all. Politics is merely not among that number unless you work very hard. Business owners are allowed to be town leaders, for isntance, but beyond that it is the upper layed that selected the best of the lower layers to be in charge."

"It will be wonderful to see it all in action. I confess that the apprentice system is used in many of our industries today, especially artisan work. However we have factories as well, and out course our superb schools." She smiled slightly.

"I believe this will more than work out for the ebenfit of both of us." she said simply.
