Baron Konrad Stier

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by XavierDantius32

Groups

An empire stretching thousands of worlds, the Hegemony exists to further one goal; the complete domination of everything non-Scatterran.
An empire of shapeshifters, the Erutins value their twin above all. Largely peaceful, they remain prepared for war.

Description

Externally, Konrad is the epitome of Stier upbringing. A prime specimen of a martial life. Broad shoulders and a washboard stomach show off his strength and precision, his ramrod-straight back a testament to the Belkan military doctrine.

His face, however, is not so pretty. A jutting, beak-like nose, a thick crop of bleach-blonde hair, and the lacklustre excuse for a moustache clinging to his lower lip. His complexion is sallow, the right side of his face covered in acne scars.

He has a few excruciatingly annoying mannerisms, like puffing up his chest, chin jutting out like the prow of a ship when he's pontificating. He tends to march everywhere, as if this display of martial prowess will make up for his lack of social skills.

Personality

Konrad is pompous and obnoxious, partly due to his over-inflated belief in his martial prowess and at a deeper level, because he enjoys it. His military upbringing has left him belligerent and aggressive, his false sense of importance making him take any slight to him or his family to heart. These issues are often settled in blood.

His family have managed to ingrained some social graces into his thick skull, so as long as he doesn't get drunk, Konrad can be quite the gentlemen, rattling off lines of poetry, and passing witty remarks over dinner.

In regard to the fairer sex, Konrad is utterly hopeless. He's attracted to anything with a pulse like a bloodhound, oozing all over them like a bad smell. His natural charm evaporates, and he's prone to making remarks awkward and often obscene remarks.

Equipment

Konrad's weapon of choice for duelling, and looking impressive at high-society functions, was hand-crafted for him by the Stier artificers. It is an ornate breech-loading pistol, with two barrels chambered in .357 caseless. The wooden handgrip has a recoil absorbing gyro-system built into it, which removes most of the weapon's kick. The barrels have been dipped in silver, with gold wire worked into poison ivy patterns along its length. The grip is moulded to the exact shape of Konrad's hand, and stamped with Belkan Eagles where his finger-tips rest.

Konrad's service saber is another piece of master work from the Stier armouries. While spartan and functional in its aesthetics, its powerfield is sufficient to cut through flesh and heavy armour, the grip wrapped in a basket of silver wire.

As a backup, normally holstered under his uniform jacket is a functional 9-shot revolver in .44 magnum, with a second barrel chambered for 16 gauge buckshot,

History

Konrad is the eldest son of the Stier family, next in line for the title of Margrave. He's already High-Captain of the Stier's private army, taking great pride in pinning medals in neat rows across his chest.

As a child, he received the finest tutoring money could buy, in both martial and traditional subjects. It was at this young age that he decided he was better than everyone else, taking the rhetoric spouted by the politicos to heart, and using it as motivation to become the best he could be.

He killed his first man at 16, on the field of honour. One shot to the heart with his service revolver. From here, things took a little spiral down into decay. He took to lording it over his father's servants, and became embroiled in several scandals involving serving maids and hay-lofts.

It was thought prudent to send him off to war, in the hope of improving him in some fashion. It didn't work. If anything, it made him worse. His success on the front lines inflated his ego to gigantic proportions, and gave him a taste for blood.

He has returned just in time to dust off his little book of sleazy lines and pick up his duelling pistol, ready to carve a bloody trail through high society, with the office of Archduke in his sights.

So begins...

Nixie Conner had just finished a recital in which she had played, admittedly, a minor piece. She had been understudy in a minor role, but the regular dancer had taken ill, so she took her place. It was too bad, she thought wistfully, that it wasn't opening night, when Stahl attended the recitals. Her patron would have been extraordinarily pleased to know that she had a part other that chorus girl for once, however minor.

She was stretching out, still in costume, havign not heading out front to join most of the cast in the usual meet and greet nonsense. There were still a few girls in the back with her, but not more than a handful.

What a damned fine performance, Konrad mused to himself as he stalked imperiously away from his box, pushing aside the NHA bodyguard that followed in his footsteps like a disappointed hound. He was perfectly capable of looking after himself. He'd ditched the starchy confines of his uniform, regaling himself with a luxurious black lounge suit, with a white ruffled shirt and a dour bow tie at his throat. Under the jacket hung his dueling pistol, the bulge of the weapon unable to be concealed by the exquisite tailoring.

The primary reason for abandoning his box was to seek out one of the dancers. A stunning beauty in a minor role. With a wolfish grin, Konrad slicked back his hair, pushing backstage, eyes hunting for the dainty perfection of the dancer.

Nixie came up from her stretch and smiled slightly, and started for the exist, only to discover a gentleman who certainly wasn't apart of the dance troop. "I'm sorry sir, patrons aren't allowed backstage after the performance." She said very firmly, but gave him a pretty smile. "I was just heading to the front, however, if you would like an escort out." Patron or no patron, she couldn't afford to anger anyone who attended the performances, and she knew it. Not even Stahl's protection would keep the consequences of it from her.

"Please, join me in the front." She flirted with, more to get him away from the back and the changing areas than anything else.

"My, my. You are a beautiful one." Konrad cooed, trying to keep the distasteful leer from his face, his eyes running up and down her perfect body. "I shall accompany you to the front." Ever the gentleman, he extended his arm to her, careful not to disturb the pistol precariously concealed under his jacket.

She accepted it gracefully. "Thank you, sir. It's kind of you to say so." This man gave her the willies. Then again, msot men gave her the willies, courtesy of her old work. she knew well what pigs even he kindest of men could be. She escorted him to the front, finding some relief in the sheer amount of bodies still there, both performers and guests.
