Beast was never one for quiet entrances.

His steps made the floor groan beneath his weight, breath leaving his lungs in a heavy rush as he pushed the door open to Gambits and walked inside. Though he wore slacks, and a tunic, the fact that he was covered from head to toe in fur was not easily concealed. Thick arms and hands ended in claws, and his feet, well, his paws really, had talons that created divots in the wooden floor.

He had a dog-like face, his snout a little shorter than his wolf counterparts, and he actually had a mane of sorts, a full head of hair that hung down in his luminescent blue eyes. Standing at six-foot-seven, he was easily one of the most intimidating figures in the room.

He swung his head around toward Lena, doing his best to keep his tongue tucked in his maw as he walked over to the bar and set his hand on the counter. He had to be careful. It wouldn't be difficult to break the sensitive computers. Really, it wouldn't be difficult for him to break anything. "Afternoon." he growled, his best attempts to be polite marred by just how gruff he sounded.

Poor Beast.

Beast swung his head around to fix Xeon with a curious stare. Gruffly he nodded, lowering himself onto a stool. It groaned beneath him, threatening to splinter from his weight and causing him to stand immediately after. His lip curled in frustration, a rather terrifying expression for the normal person.

So this man wanted to talk to him. . .now what?

"This..." Beast started awkwardly, "This is where a person orders drinks?" he questioned. It had been a while since he'd gone out.

His blue eyes shifted to the frail woman behind the bar counter, blinking curiously as she stared toward another patron (who, almost as a result, seemed to disappear into thin air). Watching her place the order for her own drink, he took a moment to excuse himself so that he could approach her.

"Excuse me," he said, his voice coming out like a rumbling growl. "Do you have any recommendations for drinks, Ma'am? I haven't been to this establishment before."

A common story for patrons it seemed. Beast had done plenty of drinking in his day, but in places like this one couldn't be sure if they were drinking entrails or poison or plain water.

Beast held up his hand...paw...the large, beefy fingers flexing in toward his palm. He glanced from his claws to the woman and tilted his head to the side. "Well..the cocktails I have a hard time handling." he admitted. Not because the alcohol was too much for him...but because the glasses were entirely too fragile.

At the mention of blood, he made a face, his lip curling, revealing a row of sharp canines. "So, you're an alcoholic, and you work in a bar. Sounds ideal." he grumbled.

He listened quietly, taking in the sound of Lena’s voice and walking over to her. His steps remained confident up until he smacked the wooden shaft against the leg of Beast, who grunted and stepped to the side, glaring down at the man in aggravation.

“Ah, found you Cavis.” Jaryd said, angling his face toward the wolf-man. Beast merely blinked his response, huffing a breath and glancing to Lena.

“The…screwdriver…sounds good.” He said uncertainly. Jaryd’s brow rose. Apparently he’d walked into the middle of a conversation. Patting Beast’s hairy arm, Jaryd turned his face back toward Lena, a gentle smile on his face as he nodded to her.

“I hope this hairball hasn’t given you too much trouble.” He said kindly. Beast merely huffed. He had a soft spot for the blind fellow.

Beast seemed to recognize what Jaryd was trying to do. "Oy! Foster!" he shouted, his voice practically rumbling the window-panes. "Over here! Just walk straight."

He planted his large hands on his hips, smiling that menacing smile again as he glanced to Lena. "I meant no offense, Miss, and I know you didn't mean any either." He was curious about the way she was smiling at Jaryd though. "Just last night aye? He has a way of making a man feel like he's known him forever."

Beast nodded to Lena, reaching out a hand and cupping Jary'd shoulder as the other man approached. "The wolf's ear is bleeding, but you won't see me sticking my hand near her mouth. She'll either run away or bite me." He'd been bitten by wolves before. It was an altogether unpleasant experience. The gruff, imposing figure waved his other hand dismissively.

Beast's eyes scanned the bar idly as his friend tinkered with the injured wolf and the other young woman he seemed to be fond of. It was so easy for Jaryd. He was innately kind, handsome by human standards, and who wouldn't be endeared to him? He was blind!

As he made his circuitous visual scan, his eyes fell on a rather...well...a distinctly lovely young woman who had just come quietly into Gambits. His heavy brow furrowed, nostrils flaring as he watched her timidly make her way inside. Now, what a girl like her was doing in a place like this, he couldn't guess. She looked lost as well, so..

Beast to the rescue.

Now, it occurred to him, in the back of his rather fuzzy mind, that he might frighten the girl. But he hadn't frightened Lena in the least bit, and he'd been far more course with her, so perhaps this young woman could be just as forgiving for his rather harsh appearance.

"I'll be seeing you two," he said to Lena and Jaryd as an aside, then quietly made his way over to Laila. All lupine, six foot seven inches of him.

"You seem lost." he growled at her. "Might I be of some help?"

Wing City Gardens. That wasn't all that far from here was it? Beast didn't think so. He glanced around before going to one knee in front of the young woman, keeping his distance because of just how, well, furry and large he was. "I can tell you, or I can show you. It really depends on your preference, young Miss." he said, trying hard not to smile. Smiling usually frightened people.

Oh, well Beast, now you have to put your money where your maw is. Oh, sardonic humor. It was what got him through the worst of his days.

He dipped his chin in a single nod to Laila, rising to his feet and stepping around the small woman, aiming for the door to Gambits. He hesitated at the entrance, glancing back to make sure she was following him. How odd, that such a delicate thing would look at him without fear.

How odd that she so easily smiled.

The large creature hesitated at the entrance to the southern portion of Wing City Gardens, where the fruit trees stood in full bloom in the late afternoon sunlight. Bees floated lazily from blossom to blossom, filling the air with their distant hum. Beast extended a hand in a welcoming gesture to Laila, eyes flickering from her to the surrounding greenery. "Welcome to Wing City Gardens." he rumbled, letting his arm fall to his side as he paused to watch her reaction.

He cast his gaze around once more, taking more time to observe it through the young woman's eyes. To a lady, such things as flowers and sweet smells and sunshine were indeed beautiful. He was reminded of paintings he had hanging in his decrepit home on the outskirts of town. But, as he finally rested his eyes on the girl, he said, "Beautiful," with a humble nod.

He looked down at her hand, suddenly afraid that if he did take it, he might hurt her. Feeling slightly nervous, he extended his hand, letting her lay her palm in his before he gently closed his fingers around her hand. Then, once, he shook it, immediately releasing it and letting his hand fall back to his side. He seemed about as bashful as she was.

"They call me Beast." he replied. "But my name..is Cavis."

"Of course." he replied, ducking his chin when she complimented his fur. Well, he took care to make sure he was clean, that was for sure. He walked at her side, his claws digging into the grass as they made their way forward, taking a turn about the gardens the way that ladies and lords of days long past would do. "Where are you from, Miss Laila?" he asked, clasping his hands behind him and fidgeting with his claws.

"Really?" Beast noted, a curious lilt to the tone of his voice. "How interesting. You don't seem like the type to wander about. Did you have many adventures?" He was avoiding talking about himself. After all, it didn't need to be mentioned that, prior to a few months ago, Beast had been a rather selfish, spiteful young man with no regards for other people or their possessions.

The enthusiasm was gone from his tone, since the conversation had turned from being light to serious. He gazed at her, taking a deep breath through his nose before sighing it out heavily. "How is she now?" It seemed like the most appropriate question to ask.

He felt his heart twist in his chest out of sympathy for the young woman. What a positive outlook. She spoke of healing rather than death, though, obviously that had been the end result. He hesitated in his steps, looking to her with a furrow to his heavy brow, and nodded his understanding.

"I'm sorry." he said softly, though his low, gruff voice made it difficult for him to fully express the depth of that emotion. "It must be difficult.."

"I dont' blame you." he replied, looking down at her honestly and with a concerned look to his eyes. "I don't either, and believe me, there are those who would be much happier leaving a fellow like me alone." He chuckled.

"Agreed." Beast said softly. "But I'm not so sure the world works that way. It's an unfortunate thing." he sighed again. "Do you have anywhere to stay, Laila? A safe place?" It suddenly occurred to him that it was very wrong for a woman to be wandering around on her own with no place to call home. It wasn't as if he had anything to offer, but still...perhaps he could arrange something with Jaryd if Laila needed housing.

He hesitated. How convenient for her, and how horrendously unsafe. "Close to people?" he asked, glancing around the garden. He was getting the distinct sense of being watched, and he didn't like it. "It isn't safe to be by yourself."
