Appearance: Benjamin’s appearance remains distinctly indicative of the world that he grew up in. His body, which is in its mid-thirties, seems baked by the dry desert sun, his tanned olive skin covered in shallow wrinkles that seem permanently caked by sand. Wind damage has worn away at his angled cheeks, darkening their tone and making them seem burnt and charred, which only serves to make the gray/white color of his blind eyes more prominent. As if he were still hiding beneath the oppressive desert sun, Benjamin is always seen wearing a black turban wrapped tightly around his head, mouth, and nose. Only his dead-white eyes and the sun-baked skin of his upper face remain visible in most situations. His short, dark brown hair is almost always covered and very rarely feels the open air for more than the time it takes for him to refresh his clothes, causing it to be rather mangy and often coated in a fine layer of dust and sand. Within the center of the turban, just a few inches above Benjamin’s forehead, rests his Seelenstein, which is embedded permanently in the black cloth. It takes the shape of an emerald-cut diamond, yet its luster, like all Seelenstein, is nowhere near as brilliant as a normal gemstone. Instead, it seems to absorb light into its milky-white body instead of refracting it. Although visually unimpressive, this stone contains an absolutely massive amount of unique energy from a plane devoted to magnetism, and Benjamin takes care to display it prominently.
Draped over most of Benjamin’s body is a single, loose, tan shirt that seems two sizes too large for the man wearing it. The lower half of this otherwise featureless piece of clothing is long enough to reach Benjamin’s knees. Beneath that, a slightly lighter pair of tan cloth pants continue down to keep his legs safe from the elements. The top of these pants, which is hidden from view, is secured by a length of rope. Dark cloth shoes that match his shirt contain his feet, keeping him safe from the hot sands that he often patrols. Even without this protection, Benjamin has more endurance than most, and he is capable of walking on hot coals at a slow pace without showing either fear or pain.
Slung across his left shoulder rests the brown strap to the satchel that contains all of his Quincy equipment, as well as hundreds of metal beads that enhance the powers of his magnetism-based abilities. The bag, which weighs a few pounds when full, is made from a durable cloth that can protect the items during his incredibly quick movements and through the impacts of combat. Thousands of small metal threads run through the bag, which allows Benjamin to sense it should it be taken away from him. On the front of the bag, sewn in a light-tan thread, is the symbol of the Quincy loyalists--a cross with six spokes and rounded tips.
Personality: Benjamin is the leader of the few Quincy who have chosen to ally themselves with Terra, and believes that their powers must be controlled in order to assist in the protection of the natives. For all of the terrible power Benjamin holds in his Seelenstein, and the decades of skill that flow within his body, the man is nothing if not tired of battle. To him, fighting can be necessary when important things are at stake (such as the balance of life and death, or the protection of one’s family). Yet it is his firm belief that is never a thing that should be celebrated. To Benjamin, a victory in war is no better than a loss, for weapons were drawn and the peace that he fights so hard to protect was cast back in the shadows. After every fight, those who know Benjamin know to leave him be, as he invariably meditates on the philosophies of war and prays for the souls of those defeated on either side of the conflict.
Benjamin’s personality is rarely casual thanks to the incredible burden that he holds on his shoulders, and he often treats even the closest follower with the cordial respect of wartime ranking systems. Despite repeatedly being told that such things are unnecessary, Benjamin continues to show the utmost respect to everyone he meets, regardless of their reputation. This has given him his own aura of social kindness, like an elderly man who has experienced so much of the world that he knows each individual is as worthy of a kind word as anyone else. The fact that he is blind also tends to disarm most people, yet he never brings it up in conversation, and seems to almost forget his condition from time to time. In battle, Benjamin’s personality becomes a shining example of his wartime experience, and the tempered discipline that has guided his life for decades. His white, blind eyes gain a ferocious intensity that makes it plainly obvious that he has killed many in his day, and that it has become something of a familiarity to him. Unlike some other combatants, Benjamin prefers not to talk once weapons have been drawn, since his experience has taught him that such things prove more of a distraction than anything else. Instead, he remains deadly silent throughout the fight, using his incredible abilities to devastate his enemies.
