In a box in the corner of Gambits, lay a child, a rough and beaten thing it was with dirt all over her. Though she seemed to be asleep at the moment, a murmur of cries and shocked screams broke her silence from time to time, a typical nightmare. The box moved as she moved, as she was sleeping in it and on the front of the box, written in misshapen letters were the words :

'Free Kid'

Oh, what a poor lost soul was she, with her bedraggled bunny clutched to her chest as if her life depended on it. How peculiar, the bunny was. Seemingly smiling all the while, its beady little eyes unmoving as the girl rocked back and forth and tears streamed down her face, creating long lines in the dirt. Her body was shaking from such a nightmare, with its cruel creatures and misshapen bodies that only seemed to get closer and closer as she ran away, the door to escape getting further and further away.

Beth, was without a mother or a father, as the box clearly stated, her only possession the bunny and the rags for clothes on her body. She suddenly sat up straight, clutching the bunny to her chest with her knees brought up to her chest as she rocked back and forth, murmuring.
I want my mommy.. I want my mommy, I want my mommy.
her eyes were closed and her brows furrowed, her hands hastily trying to make it look like she wasn't crying to no avail.

Though between the sobs and the hardly coherent words, the bunny seemed to be moving one of its arms slowly up and down the girls chest, comforting the young four year old. Though to most it would look like it was just because of the girl rocking back and forth, truly this bunny had problems.

Though it wasn't only the stuffed bunny that had problems, clearly this young girl had them as well. Her parents long gone, leaving her in a box in a bar. With no where to turn, surely she would die. Or would someone reach out and help the poor girl?

As soon as the box lifted off the ground, Beth would scream. Scream at the top of her lungs and not stop until he put her down, from which she would start sobbing again, seemingly uncontrollably as her body shook with each sob. Though as the blanket was placed around her shoulders, she would look up with fear in her eyes to narrowly look at the man who had done it, and then look back at her bunny. She would slowly start to ease her crying, settling down at the bottom of the box and simply ignoring the bunny girl that tried to offer her a hand.

I want my mommy, I want my mommy, I want my mommy, I want my mommy...
she would repeat over and over again, whispering it to herself in beat to the sobs that shook her dirt covered body.

Surely, someone of some sense would realize that this girl needed a mothers help, and not some scary demon controlling lord to be comforting her, truly he reminded her of some of her worst nightmares, and the prospect of standing near him for much longer scared her.

But Mother said to stay in the box, and that was what the girl was going to do.

Even at the sights above the box's rim behold, she still wouldn't leave, and she just sat there trying to hide beneath the blanket as she shivered from pure shock. Mommy had to come back, didn't she? Surely she would come back, even if she was going to only hit her some more.. Mommy loved her, and didn't mean it when she said those things. Mommy would come back, and then they would be happy again.

Beth flinched away when Colie held out her bunny, and tried to make friends with her. She didn't want to be near anyone else at the moment, she just wanted her mommy. Though as someone asked who her mommy was, and that she could try to find her mommy, she would pop her head a tad ways out from under the blanket that the general had provided. Though only a bit, just enough for her to look out at who asked before she disappeared back under it once again, much more comfortable when she thought that if she couldn't see them, they couldn't see her.

With her bunny clutched to her chest she would slowly begin to speak, stopping at times as a sob over took her body.
Mommy - Is mommy. Mommy will be back, yes - She won't leave me. No, no, mommy will be back, mommy will be back. - Mommy told me to stay in the box and not leave until she came back. See? Mommy will be back.

She tried to tell herself, over and over again, that mommy would be back. But Mommy hadn't been back in four days, and Beth was starting to not look so great. She was clearly malnourished and sick, especially from the sniffles and sobs coming from under the blanket.

Bunny will keep me safe, yes he will..
she whispered, nodding her head from under the blanket as she laid down on her side, a headache surely coming on. Her fever didn't help either.

Beth was surprised the woman knew her name, though didn't mention it. Maybe she had said it while she was murmuring? Who knew, but the prospect of food made her stomach growl rather loudly.
Mommy said to stay in the box until she came back, that's what I'm going to do. Though I don't know how Mommy will find my now because scary creature moved the box..
and she only cried harder.

Though if one was to move the box with her in it, there could be no harm done. Surely she would scream, but that was to be expected. She peaked out from under the blanket once more, only to capture a glimpse of Lord Maelik shoving a skeleton's arms into its eye sockets. She screamed, clutching her bunny to her chest as she hid back underneath the blanket, her only protection. Sobs rocket her body as she tried to hide from the monster that seemed to be fighting just outside of the box, there was no way anyone was getting her out of it now.

I want my mommy, I want my mommy, I want my mommy..
she choked out in between sobs as tears continued to stream down her face. The stuffed bunny that she clutched to her chest began to rub her arm like it had done to her chest, though this time it wasn't going to work and it could be thought that its arm was moving because of how bad she was shaking.

She continued to murmur her cry for her mother, and it was soon followed by the same repeat of wanting, though with 'daddy' in place of 'mommy'. She hadn't seen daddy in a long time, but surely nothing could beat up daddy? No! Daddy could beat up all the monsters and then bring mommy back. Yes, she wanted her daddy.

Beth continued to cry, her body shaking with the fear of the monster eating her, and what about her poor bunny! Oh! Not bunny! No, she would make sure no one hurt bunny, or her for that matter. But that was daddy's job! Where was he? He had to come!
Daddy!!
she cried out, sticking her head out of the blanket to peer out, just at the moment that they teleported. So, she screamed.

Though it didn't end there, they decided to keep her in the box, and move her into the room. She hid back under the blanket, shaking as she switched to a new maneuver, be quiet and no one will know your there and they will leave you alone! So that's what she did, she went absolutely silent even as the box hit the ground, and slowly calmed herself, closing her eyes and wishing with all of her heart that this would be a dream.

But no! If she dreamed the monster would come and then she would have to run away again! No, she would wish that daddy came back with mommy and that her and bunny and her parents would live happily ever after.

Life would be fine, in just a few minutes. Her daddy would beat up the monster, and she would be fine. Yes, everything would be fine.. and then her stomach growled again.

As soon as the blanket was removed, she knew she had been found, and she instantly curled in on herself, clutching her bunny as she looked at the woman with wide eyes. Though as Lucretia's hand brushed her cheek she would seem to calm down, not speaking as her eyes went to the milk. Oh it looked delicious! She could eat other things, and wasn't exactly a 'baby' as of yet, she could use the bathroom like a big girl and all sorts of things! But right now, she really wanted mommy...

Though she sat up, grabbing the milk from her hands and tucking her bunny under her arm as she began to suck on the milk bottle, tilting it up and drinking as much as she could before she needed to breathe. While she did this, her eyes would close, keeping her mind focused on the warm milk as it slowly began to calm her.

Though she placed the milk in her lap, looking up at the woman.
Thank you Mommy..
she would whisper as if in a dream-like state. Mommy had come back! And she gave her milk! Oh this made Beth very happy, and she reached out, placing the milk on the floor of the box as she wrapped her arms around the woman's neck.

Oh I love you Mommy don't leave me ever again..
even if she knew this woman wasn't her mother, who cared? She thought she was, and she was going to stick with it. Mommy had come back! Really, she had brought Mommy back!

Beth let go of Lecretia and turned to Lord Maelik, and then looked at the toys he had brought. Though she would look around softly, sitting back down in her box and taking back up the bottle of milk and drinking heavily from it, draining it until it was empty and then placing it on the floor of the box. She yawned, beginning to curl up on the bottom of the box and pulling the blanket over herself with bunny clutched to her chest.

'Go sleep near the monster.'

The voice filled her head out of no where, but somehow she knew it was bunny.
Yes Bunny.
she yawned, to tired and full to do much else other than listen. She would then place both hands on the edge of the box, pulling herself up and over the edge with the blanket clutched around her body and the bunny to her chest. She would then walk over to Lord Maelik, her eyes drifting closed as she found his lap, and laid down in it. She was small enough, considering how large he was. Using one arm as a pillow she would shake her head to the cookies.

With this she would place her thumb in her mouth, gently sucking on it as she clutched the bunny under one arm. With the blanket over her body, most of it on his lap she would close her eyes, slowly drifting off into sleep.

Beth would move to Lecretia's lap, though she was not that pleased about it. She murmured in her sleep, obviously having more nightmares, and in these Bunny was talking to her about how she needed to be near Lord Maelik because he could protect her, and he was powerful. Though in the end she would listen to Bunny, even though she would much rather have her Daddy. As Lucretia clutched her to her chest, she would tuck her head under Lucretia's neck and release a sigh, her eyes still closed.

Bunny... Daddy...
she whispered in her sleep, really wanting her daddy. Though this Bunny of hers was beginning to convince her that Lord Maelik was her father, and that he would protect her from the monsters. But he was a monster! He would gobble her up and eat her and mommy! When mommy came back that was..

She sucked on her thumb, making a soft popping noise with it because it fell out while she was talking, though she stuck it back in with some force. Her mother always said that it was a bad habit for her to suck on her thumb, but she couldn't help it! It was a reaction that she had almost naturally, and the fact that mother said it, made her take her thumb back out of her mouth again. She clutched her bunny to her chest, wanting to be in her real mothers arms, with her real father standing near her protecting her.

She woke up, yawning and stumbling over to Lord Maelik, still half asleep as she wrapped her arms around his leg, rubbing her cheek on whatever was closest, even if it was the metal of his armor.

Bunny said that you can protect me. Bunny said that you are going to be my Daddy now because Daddy isn't here.
she whispered, another yawn escaping her mouth.

Beth would sigh softly as Lord Maelik began to stroke her hair, oh how she loved it when people did that. It made her think of her mother and how at night, after she had gotten out of the bath, her mother would dry her hair and then run the brush through it, afterwords laying her down on the couch so that they could watch a movie, and pet her hair until she fell asleep. Oh, those were the days. When daddy would actually come home and really be around her. Mommy would come back, she was sure of it. But Bunny said that Lord Maelik was going to be her new Daddy, and she believed in Bunny..

Can I have some more milk? And maybe some pretzels.. I like pretzels.
she said, yawning and sitting down on Lord Maelik's foot and clutching her Bunny to her chest.

'Everything is going to be alright my dear..'

The voice filled her head once again, and she pressed her hands to her ears.
No bunny! Mommy isn't here and I have a new daddy and yeah! No bunny, no!
tears would stream down her face as she screamed at the bunny, who was now on the floor, laying there like the stuffed animal he was - and not moving. She screamed and stood up, stomping her foot and walking away with her hands over her ears.

Beth would glare at the Bunny, though she began to walk toward Lucretia, sitting down in her lap and reaching for the milk.
Bunny was being mean..
she furrowed her brows, whipping the tears from her face and sniffling.

Daddy told me, before he went away. That I had to be strong and help Mommy and that Bunny would help me. Daddy gave me Bunny. Bunny knows best but Bunny said everything was going to be okay. I lost Mommy and I don't know where she is and now I will never find her!

The Bunny was indeed a demon, though it hid in the child's Bunny. It loved the girl with all of its nonexistent heart, but strove to manipulate her to do his biding. For now he was bidding his time until she was old enough to actually destroy someone, to kill for him. Though Lord Maelik wouldn't be able to figure out any of this, and instead would hit almost a shield of pure power that surrounded the Bunny. If Lord Maelik tried to destroy this Bunny, his power would get about a foot close, and then whatever he threw at the Bunny would simply disappear.

However strangely, this Bunny was here to stay, one way or the other. And he would make amends with Beth, soon enough.

Beth was slowly making her way down the stairs, one step at a time. She had come to such stairs, after wandering around looking for the one any only mommy. Surely, Lucretia was a great mother, and did everything she could to help the poor lost young child, but it wasn't enough. She wanted her real mommy, she wanted the woman who had given birth to her. But more than that, she wanted her father. Daddy, who could do no wrong in her eyes. Who was stronger than anything in the world and could always protect her and mommy no matter what!

But Mommy and Daddy weren't here, and she couldn't find them.

This made the young girl venture down the far to large stairs. One step at a time, standing up, sitting down with her legs over the edge and slowly lowering herself onto the next stair, falling down the last bit and standing up all over again. This would continue, one hand clutching the ear to her beloved stuffed bunny.

The young four year old was wearing shambled rags, obviously not that wealthy, as her disheveled hair and stained bunny also showed. But those gray eyes held hope, the hope of finding her mother, even if she had left the box her mother had told her to stay in. Truly, a man had moved the box that was clearly labeled 'Free kid' and then, once that was done with, she figured that now since the box had moved, her mother wouldn't be able to find it anyways.

But still, as she reached the bottom of the stairs and looked around the room with big eyes, tears would start to fill them, only to be wiped away with a dirt covered hand. Mommy would come, surely she would, or she would find her. Even if she had to look through all of these tall people, she would find her mother one way or the other. Determination, a powerful thing.

I'll find you Mommy, one way or the other.
and so, she set out through the throng of people with her bunny clutched to her chest.

Beth turned around at Dillon Maxey's words, though she didn't answer immediately but rather sized him up for a moment before walking back over to him, having only gotten half way through the throng of people. As young children were, she had a habit of touching things, and she reached out a tiny hand to place on his knee and tap on it softly.

I'm sorry, but if you know where Mommy is could you tell her that I'm looking for her?
she said, a smile spreading over her features, though the dam was threatening to break once again, and she seemed to be on the verge of tears. The hand on his knee was shaking, uncontrollably, and it was rather noticeable.

Beth seemed use to other people's hands on her own skin, not only that but the rough callused ones of men who have worked for a living. Her fathers, even at times her mothers, when they had drunken until they couldn't walk straight, and bore the weight of the world on there shoulders. From this stress, they took out there misery on the poor four year old. But she didn't flinch back from his hand, but rather turned her own around so that she could grip all three fingers and hold his hand in her own.

Alright, my names Beth; this is my Bunny.
she said, sitting down on the step with him, still clutching his hand she soon saw Purity Amber and in the middle of showing him her bunny, she would turn to her.
Beth, its nice to meet you Purwity. Have you seen Mommy? I'm looking for Mommy, and Daddy too.
she tried her hand at pronouncing the woman's name, though had some difficulty.

Beth would furrow her brows
Mommy's name is mommy. She looks like a Mommy.. Yeah definitely a Mommy.
the girl would say, having not known her colors, though even if she did it wouldn't be of help. The young girl was color blind, and only saw shades of gray. Though she tightened her grip on Dillon Maxey's hand as the woman bent down to her height. Though suddenly, her gaze would be focused intently on the bunny in her arms, and her brows would slowly furrow and tears began to form in her eyes, before streaming down her face, and then she threw the bunny.

'Mommy is never coming back, and Daddy left a long time ago. Bunny is here now, don't worry..'

The voice would fill the young girl's mind, obviously the Bunny was the one speaking, and with some force she would turn to Dillon next to her and clutch onto his arm, her body shaking with each sob. Closing her eyes she would turn away from the Bunny, who had gone only a few feet.
Its not true Bunny! Mommy will come back and so will Daddy!
she would manage to choke out before another sob hit her like a blow to the chest.

Beth would clutch to the mans arm, hiding her face there as she continued to cry.
Its not true! Its not true! No Bunny.. Mommy will come back, Mommy will come back, Mommy will come back.
the last phrase, she continued to repeat over and over again in hushed tones and in beat to each sob that rocked her body. With his free hand over her body, she was beginning to feel a tad more at ease, and her cries were slowly starting to ease down. Though however slowly they were, it wouldn't hide the fact that the Bunny had moved.

The Bunny, with its black beady eyes had turned its head to stare at the girl, how ever subtle a motion it was, the Bunny had moved. The Bunny loved Beth, with all of its nonexistent heart it really did, but more than anything else it wanted to be able to manipulate the young girl. It wanted to be able to control her, wanted Beth to trust it, and so then Beth would do its bidding for it. Oh, the ease of how fast it could get its work done when it had Beth in its claws! But for now, he had to make friends with the young girl, and obviously it wasn't doing a good job.

Beth had become quite attached to this Dillon Maxey, and as such she would rub her cheek against his arm, trying to dry some of the tears as she spared a glance at the Bunny, only to turn back to Dillon and clutch his arm with all the more force, which wasn't much at all.
Its been five..
she thought for a minute, trying to come up with the word.
..Days and Mommy still isn't back. Ugh..
she ended her small talk, taking both hands off of the man to clutch her stomach which had growled. Through the thin baggy cloth she had for clothes, you couldn't tell, but her ribs had begun to show through and her stomach was swollen from malnutrition. Surely, nothing more could go wrong?

And then the Bunny moved again, using one arm to flip itself over and come all the more closer to the girl.

Beth would just basically go limp as he picked her up, knowing better than to wiggle her way free. Though the fact that he also held her Bunny so close to her, wasn't making her feel much better about the situation. Though the mention of food changed things, and she spoke up with much enthusiasm
Ohh! Can I get some stick pretzels?
she would ask, trying to peek up through her gray hair that had fallen around her features. Though even this wouldn't stop her from glaring at the Bunny next to her soon afterwords, still rather mad at the stuffed animal.

Bunny on the other hand was trying to look more like a stuffed animal once again, heading the mans advice and instead of staring back at Beth like it would usually try to do. Though its mind, if it even had one, was focused more on getting Beth to like it again, so it tried to look as happy as it could, and as fluffy and welcoming as it could. Being picked up by the man was not something it would have expected, but nonetheless it put it all that more closer to the one it really wanted, so it allowed it to be done. The Bunny would hang loose in the man's hand, unmoving; for now.

Beth would plop down into the seat, sitting on her feet so that she could see over the table; what a tiny thing was she! Though, placing her hands on the table so that she could more easily keep her balance, she would reach over and grab a napkin. Such napkin would be balled up into a tight ball, and then unwrapped, and balled up all over again. Such movement would happen several times, just for her own enjoyment. She looked over to Max as he spoke of how she would get some food, and she licked her lips.
That sounds gooood.
she drew out the 'o' in good as she smiled and then continued playing with the napkin.

__________________________

Bunny plopped down into the seat as well, staying in the same position he fell. Though the demon had well enough seen the wink that Max had given it, it wasn't sure what he meant by it. Why would this man want to help it? It could do what it needed to all by itself. Surely, he couldn't know what was truly going on, and all of the details already? Bunny was frightened, frightened that he might be discovered, and never get to see his beloved Beth ever again.

Beth nodded softly, smiling back at him all the more, her mind focused on things such as ponies and rainbows, though more importantly, on finding her mother.
I like chicken soup. Mommy used to make me it when I was sick. I remember when she used to brush my hair like this
she would brush her fingers through her hair and hum a soft tune while closing her eyes and swaying back and forth.
I miss Mommy..
she sighed, her brows furrowing as she struggled not to cry.

Small hands would clasp the door's frame, trying to reach up with muddy fingers to open the door, until the young girl found that the door swung open. She fell on the floor without a noise, only a soft huff escaping her mouth as she held the door open with one hand, the other on the ground propping her up, while her feet lay side-ways behind her, and of course, the dirty floor getting her bran new dress muddy.

At this, she cried out, only a soft sound, but loud enough for the other bar patrons to hear. She whimpered softly as she stood up, her bare feet almost slipping against the wood flooring as she held onto the door frame for support, leaning down to pick up her bunny soon afterwords, which had gathered quite an amount of dirt as well.

Beth made her way into the establishment after that, only being roughly of the age of five now, with a few more months to go. Both hands clasped tightly around her bunny as she held it to her chest, brown locks of silky smooth hair now in disarray, looking much like a street rat to anyone who cared to give the little girl a second glance. Her gray eyes had begun to form a blue tinge to them, very unlike both of her parents. But then again, she didn't have parents anymore either.
