Skills, Talents, and Equipment

Job-related skills:
Limited telekinesis
Brandon has limited telekinetic abilities, and only uses them in order to keep his abilities in check. He can be seen using them when working in his art workshop.

Necromancy
Brandon is a necromancer kept on retainer by the council. He is allowed only to practice on animals, but is known to practice elsewhere. Not accomplished with other magics, Brandon is prone to using necromantic cantrips in battle. His favorite tricks are listed below:

Touch of fatigue
A necromancer cantrip, this ability is to simply remove a small amount of life energy from an animal or person, and to cause them to be slightly more tired. This lasts for three rounds.

Necromancer's Knife
Stolen from his former adoptive mother, this knife has the ability to dehydrate flesh if left inside of flesh for very long.

Cheap Red Lighter
Given to him for his protection as a child, Brandon has the ability to summon his adoptive mother's hell beast Scamp by flicking this on. He works side by side with the hell beast happily enough.

Shadow Step
Brandon has the ability to step through the shadows in a form of teleportation. This requires a shadow big enough for him to fit in.

Ghoul's Touch
Causes localized paralysis of the area touched. Lasts four rounds.

Drain life
It drains the life out of something, and transfers it to Brandon. He could use it to heal injuries, and usually does. Effects are immediate.

Death's Kiss
Brandon rarely uses this spell, and it gives him temporarily vampiric features, including the ability to drink blood for a boost of magic, energy, and health. It isn't long lasting however, and is very draining to cast, requiring preparation before hand to manage it.

Personality

Ambitions: Brandon wants to make up for his actions as a child, and be a relatively successful artist.
Fears/anxieties/hangups: Falling back into madness
Attitude toward life and death: Brandon does not seek death actively, but passively put himself into life and death situations without care if he dies.

History & Background
Brandon's birth family shaped him very strongly. His father was incredibly abusive to him and his mother and sister, but especially to his mother. As a result, outside of the home the boy was a bully and a brat to everyone. One night, overwhelmed by his father's actions, the boy planned to sneak out, taking his sister with him. His father caught them on the way out. A fight ensued and his father, a big man, knocked Mary Anne to the side. The little girl did not survive the attack, her neck breaking due to force of the hit. As his mother tried to revive her daughter, Brandon cried out and his powers reacted, a wave of his power flowing out, and starting an electrical fire, even as it knocked his father down. Luck alone had the man hit his head, as the boy scrambled for the door and ran away. He was the only survivor of the apartment fire.

The boy lived on the streets for several years, changing his name to Parson Waters. It was easier to hide under a new name after all. In time, he came to make Gambit's Bar his favorite haunt. It was clear that the fire and attack by his father left an indelible mark on the child, twisting him fiercely just as much as living on the hard streets of Wing City did.

There he met, and began to torture and torment, the girl who would be his new sister. It didn't take long after meeting the small twisted girl for him to meet Sanina, who would be his adoptive mother. His adoptive mother who was clearly no more in her right mind than the rest of the small family, as she carried around the skeletal remains of a young girl, whom she called Jezebell.

Parson, who could barely read, and was often a crude young boy, turned out to have necromantic powers, that his new mother 'Nina' began to teach him. He even slowly began to accept his sister Bethany, though he would never be nice to her, he would be nicer. It was to his advantage to be nice to his family after all, even if both sister and mother were touched.

What many do not realize about Parson is that he positively loathed his Aunt Kaitlynn. Not only does she think him weird at best, she also shows quite a bit of favoritism to his sister Bethany, at least in his eyes. With this loathing between them, it only made sense that, on a day when his aunt wasn’t quite herself, she turned Parson into a vampire, a state that he would find himself cured from in time.

Parson has since gained some sort of equilibrium and is a well known name in the human parts business, as he kills his people himself. He was wanted by the Wing City Police Department for an incident of blood lust which he slaughtered every single doctor on duty at Wing City General Hospital. While he was caught once, and put on trial, the boy was declared criminally insane and put instead in a High Security Institute meant for insane supernaturals. His mother was kind enough to break him out and Parson then lived not above Gambit's but in the same house as his grandfather and his mother.

However, after being broken out, the boy was killed by hunters, his body fading into the shadows. It would later be found back the in Institute for the Criminally Insane, where he would be revived, miraculously cured as vampirism. The boy did not know why, but it wasn't long until the asylum was once more broken into, and he would escape again. Captured quickly, the now human boy was picked up by MCU and put on probation, where it was soon discovered who he really was, and that he had two living relatives, his Aunt Catherine, and his Uncle Izaak. With a lingering fear of men form his childhood, he began to live with his aunt Catherine, after being abandoned by his former adoptive family, the Lessards.

As he grew there, he grew found of her, and when she disappeared, institutionalized for political reasons, he refused to allow her to remain, and broke her out, forcing her name to be cleared as well. Now, the necromancer, still under severe restrictions from his childhood, runs an art supply store with an art studio in the back, and his apartment above. In a separate building, more shed than studio, he practices his magic and his powers, knowing that he is heavily restricted in what he can do when not on a Hunt for the very organization that punished his aunt for nothing more than politics.

So begins...

Brandon's hand were cuffed in front of him, and he sat on the chair, head down, not happy at all. He hadn't meant to break the stupid hydrant. Clearly it was flimsy anyway. He sighed and waited quietly. It was an accident, and he didn't expect that to happen at all.

He had just been really hot, and the next thing he knew the fire hydrant was spewing water all over. By now, of course, he was mostly dry.

Brandon hurried over to her and greeted her with a hug, then stepped away. "I didn't mean to break it." He said firmly. "I don't even know how I did." He sighed. "It was just so hot, and then there was water everywhere, and I'm so sorry." So very sorry.

He was scared he might be kicked out, or sent to jail. The cuffs had terrified him far too much. He remained rather close, worried.

He hesitated. "Can I come with you? I'll be quiet." He didn't want to be on his own right now. Still, she didn't sound too angry at all. That was good.

He was way too old to hold her hand or anything sissy like that, but he scooted a little closer, for comfort.

It was nice to have the stability. If it lasted.

He looked down. "I didn't mean to. And I got a headache when it happened." He said contritely. "I...I think I did it with my mind. You helped me some with that, before, didn't you?" He recalled that, though only hazily.

"It was just so hot." But he honestly didn't mean to do it, and still wasn't certain exactly what happened.

Brandon nodded quietly. "I hope it's a line breaking." He whispered quietly. "I really do." He didn't want it to be more than that in any way shape or form.

It had been a little scary, but had felt so good. "Does this mean I'm still sick, like I was before?"

He had been sick before he was ever a vampire. He worried he still was.

Brandon slumped into Catherine's office, not too happy with having to have another 'talk.' He looked over to her and took a seat in the chair across from her, his vary stance speaking of his displeasure.

"Okay, I'm here. What do we have to talk about?" He held his broken arm, in a plaster cast, next to his body, not happy. So fair, the only person who had signed it was one of the guys, who had figured out where Brandon had begun to spend the day, and he had signed it not with a name, but a cartoon rabbit head.

"What? You only needed to bail me out once!" He protested. "I can find a way to pay you back for the bill. Somehow." He'd have to steal the cash, but it wasn't like anyone noticed.

"I aint going to no boarding school." Or school period. He hadn't been in ages, though Babbit insisted he read and write some. "And I'm not going into foster care. That place is bad." Kids had bad stuff happen to them there.

He ought to just take a chance with being mugged, and hope his gang was in good enough shape to keep him out of that trouble. "You don't gotta keep dropping every thing you know." It wasn't like she was his mom. He didn't have one of those.

"...Boarding school?" He sad, not pleased. "You're not going to make me." He'd disappear again first. Not like she could find him. The city was pretty big, and there was no way she'd get a bunch of cops looking for one measly street brat.

"And whose gonna take care of me, until then, huh? You can't, you just said!" He wasn't about to put up with this. She'd stick him with a temp family, he just knew it, and he'd run for it!

He crossed his good arm with the broken one as best he could and huffed. "But you're gonna make me eat vegetables and be grounded and stuff." Grounded forever. Whatever. He'd run away from the boarding school. "I haven't been in school since I was six. I think good grades are too much to ask for." Way too much. And good behavior? She was nuts.

Oh yeah, he wasn't happy. At the same time, his heart felt a little funny. The boy ignored it, putting it off as heartburn or something.

He grumbled at this, and peeked at her, catching the expression on his face. "Why do you wanna help me anyway?" He uncrossed his arms, and rubbed his cast, broken arm hurting. He'd need another pill soon, he guessed. "You're an adult, and a cop. I'm...weird, and from the streets, and you said it yourself. I belong with the 'special' kids." Not the normal ones. It didn't add up in the boys head, though he wanted to believe in it.

He wanted to believe that someone wanted him.

He took the pills and swallowed them with the water. "I don't mind the other pills." He said, still glad she cared enough to give him these. "Sometimes a foggy head is good." Sometimes. The boy thought it over. It sounded like, if he agreed to go to the boarding school, then she'd keep taking care of him, kind of. At least when he wasn't at the school, and that was better than nothing. Besides, she wasn't some one strange, like a foster family would be.

"Okay. I'll go to the boarding school." And he'd even try and catch up some over the summer. Maybe if he did good enough, she'd keep him all the time, and not just when he wasn't in school.

Molly held onto a strap herself as they went through and took in a deep breath. "I can smell the polution. She said with a grin. "That's sadly exciting." Pollution was exciting. She knew she had it bad. "Thank you, Lady McBride." Very much. She was home, or at least in the right world, and she didn't care that she had been gone fifteen whole years. What did that matter, when she would age again, live again.

Molly waited for the door to open, and stepped out first, not caring one whit for tradition now that she was in a realm where it hardly mattered. This was the human world, and Catherine wasn't her boss here. That made them equals, of a sort, or at least when it came to getting out of a thrice darned carriage.

Waiting there was an adult man with a shock of white hair that she could recognize anywhere, and a feel about him that made her want to recoil. He had a shopping bag at his side, and she glanced to it. "Brandon, right?"

"Yeah. You're...Molly. You look prety much like how I remember. Welcome back."

"You don't. You seem to have grown up quite a bit. Your aunt mentioned it have been fifteen years though."

"Physically? I'm probably older than you now." He grinned. "I can help you get settled in again, if you'd like." He offered, then stepped over to the coach, letting her think that over as he greeted his aunt. "Aunt Catherine. I hope you've been finding the other realms comforting."

Catherine offered Molly a small, bemused smile as she commented about the pollution of the city. "Think nothing of it Molly." She answered watching the other woman hurriedly clamor out of the coach towards the rain slicked pavement below. "You might want to watch your step.." She warned once she was down from the coach onto the pavement. Catherine couldn't say that she missed the stench of the city after a rain storm, or the various smells of car and diesel exhaust. 'Mentally they're probably roughly the same age...' Catherine thought carefully to herself, very familiar with both parties penchant for juvenile antics of one form or the other.

"Hello Brandon, yes it has, thank you." She replied returning her nephew's warm greeting, knowing the Faerie's realm was no place to ever bring him. The Unseelie would quickly look to take advantage of him, and that would create more chaos that they'd ever known. Yet at the same time strangely enough it was home.

Brandon smiled at that, and made sure to hold his umbrella so his aunt was covered by it as well. "Great. Thanks for, ah, not taking me. I don't think I'd be quite safe there." Not through lack of trying. "I doubt you can stay very long, but try and stay safe in that realm." He hoped that she'd be okay. She always went and returned in such ridiculously fancy clothes, he was almost afraid to hug her.

Molly waited off to the side, as patient as could be. She had learned patience, more than ever before, in that place. There was nothing else to do, after all, but wait somedays. Right now, she was just happy to take in the rain soaked city and get wet without care.

Catherine smiled at Brandon for a moment as if she were thinking of something. "Pity, because I'm sure Puck would enjoy a new playmate." She replied finding herself dreading that aspect of court life once more. Tightly corseted low cut gowns, with voluminous skirts didn't exactly lead to mobility. "I'll be perfectly safe there Brandon, few people dare to challenge my position." What she didn't add was the people who could challenge it were what she was afraid of.

The Faerie court only knew that her position with MCU had kept her away from court, and she'd chosen not to live in the Faerie's realm for some time. They didn't need specifics nor the entire story, lest they challenge her or declare her unfit. That had happened too many times already. "I can stay as long as I need to stay."

"Good. I'd have to try and help if someone tried to hurt you, and I would likely end up getting severely hurt if I did." He knew his limits, and he knew he wasn't able to match just about any Fae. If they showed up, he was more likely to ask her, than any other outcome.

"And I'm not sure I want to play with Puck." He glanced over to Molly. "I should get her settled, out of the rain." He sighed. "I'll take good care of her, if she'll let me." He paused, and searched his pocket before taking out a tissue paper wrapped gift. "This is from Lara. She's being a brat about you being gone already. I'll keep an eye on her too though, so don't worry."

In the purple tissue paper was a simple, obviously handmade, clay butterfly, painted in cheery easter pastels, and strung on a black cord. She had cheerful used some of Brandon's materials to make it, under his supervision.

"I appreciate your concern Brandon, but you know I can handle myself." Catherine said making a slight face. Magic was distasteful enough as it was, but having to use it in a defensive manner was even more so. "Most Fae don't leave their own realm unless there's a good reason. I'll be back soon as I get my father's affairs in order."

Taking the small gift from him in her hands she unwrapped the slightly damp tissue paper, to look at the simply made butterfly, a token of a child's appreciation and adoration. "Tell her if she can behave I'll send her something special." Catherine would send the girl a small token, something pretty, but only slightly enchanted; nothing at all dangerous.

"I'll be home soon, I promise." She said picking up her skirts, and turning to climb back into the coach.

"I'll let her know. Safe travels." He said, then walked back to Molly's side, and sharing the umbrella with her. He waited until the carriage was gone to turn to Molly. "Let's get you to where you can change. I guessed your size, so we may have to go shopping later, but that can wait until we get your identity back. Or a new one, if that's what you choose." He suggested, then shrugged.

"You could probably even keep your name." Probably. It wasn't like anyone was actually looking for her.

Molly nodded, glad to share the umbrella. "That sounds good. I think a new identity is in order. I didn't really leave anybody behind." she said quietly, and followed him back to his car. She needed an identity before she could leave magic fully behind, it seemed.

Listening to the voicemail message again, Catherine looked at her phone in confusion; it wasn't normal for Laura to call, especially after what should have been close of business. "Well there goes my evening." She said to herself as she grabbed her keys and headed out the door to meet the young girl at the shop. In the mean time, Catherine found herself wondering what could have caused the girl to call in such a panic.

"Could be anything." Catherine muttered under her breath as she drove down the street, thinking that something hadn't been put back up securely and fallen from the shelf once a large truck drove by.
