Fierce, graceful and eloquent, be she human or avian, Branwyn is rarely a force to be trifled with.
Dislikes:
- Surprises: With her senses always at such a heightened state of awareness, there are very few things that Branwyn dislikes more than being caught at a moment when she is startled by being off guard. Her first instinct when startled is often one of self-preservation so, if need be, she will tear the life from whatever threatens her in that moment of surprise.
- Foolishness: Branwyn despises people who act without thought, rather than those who are simply thoughtless in their acts, those who have no tact or who have a social ineptitude. More than a little irritated at their loud and often pointless chatter, she will go to great lengths to make it evident it displeases her.
- Lack of class: Better described as those of a more ‘common’ nature, Branwyn has no time for a false sense of class or those of a crude and crass nature.
- The new moon: Reducing her to but a shadow of her former self, the new moon is never a good time for Branwyn. She often locks herself away in solitude until the following night when she emerges ill-tempered and prone to snap at the smallest insult.
- Small spaces: Nearing chlaustrophobia, Branwyn cannot stand small or cramped spaces, hallways or anything that has less than an armspan of room, save when she is hunting and in full control of the situation
Likes:
- The chase: Despite her dislike of being caught by surprise, Branwyn is delighted by the thrill of a hunt or a chase that often follows in order to catch whatever she deems suitable prey at the time. She relishes the pursuit as it offers her an outlet for the wilder side to her nature, and will rarely subside until she has made a kill.
- Hidden meanings: Whether it is as simple as a well placed word or as elaborate as an entire plot, meticulously strung together, Branwyn loves any kind of mentally stimulating game and has both a physical and mental eye for detail. She will run over every word, every detail until she is sure there is nothing left for her to find.
- Witty banter: A sucker for a good argument, Branwyn loves dancing around the point and evading the topic when she can, not to mention baiting her opponent at every given opportunity.
- Large, open spaces, clear night skies and a hunter’s moon: There is nothing quite like sailing on an open night sky for Branwyn. To have the ground rush beneath you and a hunter’s moon overhead illuminating as far as the night eye can see… A wild creature at heart, her place is anywhere her wings will take her.
- Music, poetry and writing: A deep passion of hers, Branwyn loves all thing lyrical and book-bound. If only it weren’t such a chore to turn pages with one’s talons…
- Dance: When in human form, Branwyn will never pass up an opportunity to engage in dance, and equates it to the freedom of flight without wings.
Personality:
Sophisticated: Branwyn sees herself as a being of refinement and her behaviour follows suit to the letter. Ever the lady, she is easily irritated at those who do not show her the respect she feels she deserves, even when in avian form. Her clothing, mannerisms and even the way she holds herself all whisper of a being of stature long before she was bound to her bird form.
Eloquent: Choosing her words carefully, she believes that how something is said is just as important as what is being said, and that it all reflects back on just what kind of person one is. She thinks before she speaks and when in a situation outsider her comfort zone, she only ever utters that which is necessary.
Graceful: If the gift of flight hadn’t taught her that posture and balance in one’s body are the most important ground rules one will ever learn, Branwyn would still carry herself with a natural ease and grace. Seemingly gliding, rather than walking, when in her human form, her movements are gentle, yet deliberate.
Fierce: Not one to be trifled with, Branwyn has a ferocity to her nature that can only be equated to that of a bird of prey. Her gaze alone has been enough to hold an audience captivated, and her nature follows suit. She despises being told she is wrong, and once attached to a cause, she will hold strong until it is seen through.
Protective: Not only of those around her, but also of her own values and opinions. She will willingly go to great lengths to ensure no harm comes to any person she holds dear, and if a threat is posed, she will happily take any action necessary to see that it is removed.
Generally switching between human and avian form leaves Branwyn with little space to hold any items of worth, other than the clothing she has on her back.
Branwyn will vary rarely discuss her past. It haunts her, as it has every day since the moment she was bound to the form of a bird. Suffice to say that, she will often tell those who ask, that she had a life just like any other.
She does not speak of her life before the curse, only that she was cursed for fleeing when she should have stayed to protect those she loved. Bound to her form, ever to be an outcast even amongst her own kind, a solitary, Branwyn eventually sought solace in the company of Sir Ripley Blake, content only that she was not bothered about her past while she did not question his. She was content to be his familiar, though hid from him on the nights when she became human, too ashamed of her own form and haunted by the betrayal it represented.
