Personality

Brianne is an honest girl at best, but rather frank and blunt at worst. She honestly tells people how she feels about them, the situation they're in, and especially if she thinks something is not being done correctly. However Brianne doesn't really understand too much about how much the things she says affects people as she can be a little naive in thinking. It's not as if she has a strong sense of justice per se, but Brianne follows through strongly with her beliefs to the point of being considered stubborn. In short, she's straightforward and simple minded to a fault. This is typically why she's usually never involved in an operation that requires stealth or finesse.

Equipment

Weapons: Brianne is known for carrying and wielding rather unusual weapons. Brianne carries the 'Great Cutter' on her back as well as 36 miniature replicas alongside it. Furthermore she carries a cleaver for hunting and close range fighting purposes.

The Great Cutter
- The Great Cutter is a large boomerang with a length span of 1m. There are handles carved in the boomerang midway through both inner edges so it can be held similar to a great sword in close combat. The Great Cutter's greatest point is it's magical returning abilities. It is able to return to its user, wherever he or she is, after it makes its full cycle. The boomerang does not have the ability to slice through weapons. Great Cutter's force, on the first round, not the return, is equivalent to a 10 pound weight being thrown at you.

Tiny Cutters x 36
– Miniature boomerangs similar to The Great Cutter. By that, it means the boomerangs also return back to the user. The force of the boomerangs are equivalent to small baseballs. Not enough to shatter bone, but it sure hurts like hell. Riven, at most, can throw 3 boomerangs from each hand.

Steel Cleaver – A sharp silver steel cleaver used for close combat.

Return Pouch x 2 – Two small pouches in which the boomerangs return into.

Magic: Brianne only took a rather basic apprenticeship underneath a traveling mage at the age of 18. Because of the short time she spent with him, as well as not having any magical blood, she's only able to do a few magics. She specializes in wind and fire magics.

Great Splitter
– An enchantment that causes wind to circle quickly around a weapon, giving it the ability to cut through many things, such as wood, much more easily. Lasts up to a minute.

Ignition
– An enchantment that ignites a weapon with fire. Lasts up to a minute.

Gale
– The user can direct nearby air flow. By that, it means the user is able to deflect most projectiles, and is able to push an entity a good 5m away.

Burnout
– The user can release short bursts of flame from their palm. The distance is no longer than a meter away and dissipates instantaneously. Before it happens, wisps of flame appear in front of the user's hands.

History

Brianne is from the shores of outer Gwendolyn born to a family of fishers and self-sufficient farmers in a small village. She spent the next 10 years of her life trying to combat boredom until she discovered the joys of hunting. Brianne eventually became one of the top hunters in the village, taking to it as quickly as fly does to honey, before she finally got tired of the peaceful village life.

So, at the age of 17, Brianne decided to travel the lands of Gwendolyn, working as a hunter/gatherer to pay her livelihood. Nearly a year passed until during one rather uneventful day on the plains Brianne came upon a large group of bandits shaking down a traveling caravan. Fighting off the bandits, she then befriended the traveling group. They were mostly just nomads traveling from town to town selling their wares and spelunking through various caverns for mineral mines not discovered by the kingdom. Among the group she discovered one was a rather old and retired mage. Feeling rather grateful for Brianne's help the mage offered to teach her some basic magics as well as a rather more rare art known as 'enchanting'. She took an apprenticeship under the mage Cypheed and learned what she could for the next 4 years. After learning all she felt was necessary, she bid farewell to the nomads and moved on to the main city. It was at that point where she found employment with a Bounty Hunters Guild and began to travel the land for marks in their name be they people, beasts or otherwise.

So begins...

Brianne Valentine was not having a good day. She groaned as she laid her head upon the dark wood of the table counter, the wood creaking as she did so. An empty mug was on her right while just inches from her left was a small poster of a rather burly man with various descriptions of his looks and action. A knife was imbedded through the sheet and into the wood.

Brianne had been feeling sorry for herself the entire night. She had been drinking quietly on her own for quite some time as she lamented on the possibilities that could have been if only she had-

A rough tap jolted her out of her stupor as a deep strong voice resonated in the hunter's ears. The voice asked her her age and Brianne's left eye twitched slightly. Pushing back her chair Brianne Valentine turned to her right and prepared herself to face the random knave that seemed to be hitting on her.

"Listen here bud-" Brianne's tirade had quelled the instant it had started. She had expected to see a random bloke perhaps only a head taller her than her. What she had found was just more chest than she was expecting. Looking up she saw the face of her questioner.

"Uh.. Um.." The sudden surprised had left the girl speechless as she fumbled for the words she had been ready to scream just moments earlier.

Brianne Valentine The older, or at the least taller, gentleman's chide of her mental state shook Brianne out of her stupor. He seemed to possess quite some power and Brianne knew if she had angered him in such an enclosed space there was no way she'd come of it scott -free. The childish looking hunter glowered as she firmly glared at the older male.

"Pardon. I was just..." She paused as she tried to phrase out her words mentally. "Surprised is all. I may not have the height but I'm nineteen thank you very much." She said as she emphasized the last phrase of her sentence, sarcasm dripping off her tongue in waterfalls.

Brianne Valentine Brianne mentally groaned. It was one of those backwater taverns that seemed to care more for the supposed 'rules' rather than the profit. She was definitely taken aback by the situation; with as many taverns as there were she was surprised there was still one meant to uphold the laws.

"Sorry. Can't read so I wasn't aware of the rules." Brianne said, shrugging her shoulders and raising her hands palm up. Of course Brianne could read however; she was a, partially, studied mage but as a large amount of people didn't have the privilege of learning it wasn't an unlikely gambit to play.

Brianne Valentine Brianne sighed as the man that had been intimidating her up till recently had decided to sit right next down to her. As if she didn't have enough troubles already. Brianne sighed as she toyed with the dagger pierced into her sheet of paper.

"I'm from up north but I'm mostly a bounty chaser so I get around." She explained. "So are you the bouncer here or something?" She asked, trying to strike up conversation. "I'm sure not just anyone tries to throw helpless maidens out onto the street."

Just as Brianne had given up on the current conversation and was just about to change the subject when light clattering echoed throughout the bar. Brianne only gave her head the slightest of turns as she peered through to the doorway. There a single woman, obviously not from the area, was escorted into the bar by a group of equally estranged soldiers. Bree was, herself, a foreigner but was not to familiar with the ones that had come inside the dank bar. Her gaze lingered on the princess are her ornate clothing and Brianne pulled her clothes a little tighter around her body as she suddenly felt self conscious.

“I’m a little more South than that. I’m from the countryside, a family of farmers; it’s nothing too interesting to talk about.” Bree sighed as she took the dagger from the table into her hands. With a calm look she took out a small cloth and began to wipe the blade carefully.

“I’m surprised you would coop yourself up in this kind of place all day. A big guy like you seems better suited as some kind of hunter or something.” Brianne said as she pocketed the knife in its sheathe. “Heck. I’m a hunter and look at me!” She explained, motioning to all five feet and two inches of her stature.

Brianne just smiled as the bouncer eventually got up and left the table in order to quell a ruckus. She had been looking for an opening to leave; she was never good at tense situations and the standoff between the two earlier was still picking at the hunter’s nerves. She needed to calm down but her stomach quickly rumbled in her anxiety; Miss Valentine needed some food. Checking her coin purse Brianne realized she had enough for a few more days at most.

Brianne needed a bounty.

She sighed however as she looking at the paper she had held in her hand. It mentioned a small band of thieves have taken up shelter in the nearby forest and has been ambushing local caravans. The bounty was for the leader’s head but Brianne knew that she couldn’t take both him and his band of minions out.
Suddenly a spark raced through her brain as Brianne got a flare of an idea. In just a few short moments the seat Brianne had occupied had been left empty. All that was left was a rumpled bounty sign pinned to the table by a short blue dagger. Written on the bottom was a small note:

“Sorry but I’ve gotta run. You’ll take care of my tab right? I’ll pay you back next time. Ciao for now!
– By the way, the name’s Bree”

A light pink lip print had been left right on top of her name.

Brianne Valentine sighed as she watched the sky high above her. The sun was shining much too brightly for her liking but with occupation such a thing was common. Brianne always had rather fair skin but no matter how hard she tried she was unable to tan to protect her self from the harsh rays of the sun.

The young hunter eyed the piece of parchment she held in her hands; she was currently heading towards the forest border in search of a rampaging boar that was terrorizing the nearby trade route. The bounty was nearly ten thousand in local currency and, if she was successful, Brianne would be set for the next few months.

Hefting her massive boomerang on her back, with a light heart and renewed vigor in her step, Brianne briskly continued her travels.

"There it is." Brianne said to no one in particular. She was currently at the top of a rather large hill overlooking the forest. She gulped slightly as the steepness of the hill intimidated her; an urge to just contrarily jump quickly overcoming her.

With a hitch in her breath Brianne put one foot in front of the other and began to skid downwards the steep grassy hill. The speed she was travelling at was much to fast for her nerves, as well as her skirt, to stay low. In no time at all, however, the hunter landed at the bottom with a light tap and a sigh.

Taking a small look around Brianne noticed a rather odd sight; a young girl was perched underneath a tree holding something much too large for her to carry. With curiosity encompassing her Brianne trotted towards her slowly.

"Oi!" Brianne called as she waved towards the young girl. She didn't understand what such a young one was doing nearby such a dangerous forest without seemingly any supervision at all. As she eventually neared the young one she began to take a stronger look at, what she could now identify as, a vase the girl held in her hands.

It was similarly shaped like an hourglass would, a wide mouth and base with a much thinner center. What seemed to make it different from others was that the lid held a small angel at the top seemingly plunging a sword into the object. Brianne took out her bounty list and, just as she thought, a small picture of the vase was near the bottom. It was rather expensive and had been taken mysteriously by the creature. Brianne noted a rough hole on the side; just big enough for a tusk to have pierced through. If the hunter was lucky, the girl who found such an object could hold clues.

"Where did you find such a vase miss?" Brianne tried to ask politely, standing tall and blocking the sunlight from the girl's face.

Brianne held back a small snicker as the young girl gave a rather basic answer. The little one seemed to have demonic blood in her. Bree could never tell whether or not one was half blooded or full with the demon folk: they were a generally humanoid race and were very hard to identify

"I know you found it on the ground little one; I mean where did you find it." The hunter laughed heartily as she finished. She didn't really understand why but Brianne was feeling rather maternal as of late.

"Besides, what are you even doing here? It's awfully dangerous for you kids; I've heard there's a boar around these parts." She warned sternly.

Bree looked up at the trees as her face took upon a more serious look. The girl didn't give her anything to go on; all she seemed to remember was finding the vase and nothing more. There was a bit of a bonus for finding the vase but seeing it in the state it was in there was no possible way it was worth any value anymore.

Brianne also looked downwards at the girl; she seemed rather frail and with her tiny stature there wasn't a chance she was battle ready. Not only was there a boar nearby but Brianne was reminded of another taken bounty mentioning that were many bandits hounding the trade route.

"Well... I've got to get going..." Brianne said as she scratched her head. "But I can't exactly leave you here." A bright twinkle suddenly sparked in her eyes as Bree pounded her fist onto her palm enthusiastically. "Why not come with me for a bit? I can't leave you here and if I'm lucky, maybe you'll remember where you found the thing?

"As for incentive... How bout I let you keep munching on that thing instead of taking it away?"

Brianne smiled as the girl seemed to suddenly bright up at the prospect of keeping the trinket; she would have referred to it otherwise but it's current state didn't put it any higher than a trinket.

"Well. That's the main reason you need to come with me. You're practically skin and bones; there's no way you could handle yourself when the time comes." Brianne grinned. "And yeah you can have it. You can bring some with you for now but you'll have to leave the rest here; it'll only slow you down if we get in trouble. Don't worry we can get the rest later."

Brianne held out her hand to the small girl to help her up. "I'm Brianne, but you can call me Bree."

Brianne just laughed heartily as she watched the young demon girl, now officially known to her as Asmera, eat the vase quicker than the hunter would think possible for someone of her size. There was absolutely no way in hell Brianne could possibly bring that vase back without getting chewed out on it's quality. Sure it would have been an extra five thousand on top of the bounty but Brianne believed strongly in not crying over things you couldn't control.

"C'mon. We'll get the rest later promise." She said as maternally and gently as possible." Leaning down Brianne took her finger as she whispered some arcanic words. Soon a small fissure of wind was whipping wildly in front of her nail. Slowly moving her finger Brianne cut the vase clean in half.

"You can get the rest when we come back, okay?" The hunter smiled as she once again got up and offered her hand. "Just hold onto my hand."

Feeling the familiar touch of another person in her hands Brianne took the chance to hopefully shock the young one into some backbone. Pulling suddenly and sharply Brianne practically dragged the young one onto her feet. Brianne could only smile as the girl seemed to become rather shocked at the sudden motion.

"We'll be going deep into there." Brianne said as she pointed at the forest behind them. The forest seemed had many a tree about it and more so resembled a massive grove filled with life and filled with many manner a beast within.

"It might be a bit dangerous but just stick with me and you'll be safe." Brianne accentuated this with a grin and a thumb poking into her chest.
