Bryon Clegg

Flag Officer, and Commander of the 'Keeper of Abassid'

0 · 1,324 views · located in Keeper of Abbasid

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by barney_fife

Description

A ruthless and cunning officer, Bryon Clegg entered service shortly after the Terran Conflict, and rose to prominence as the commanding officer of the Sagittaron Class Ship 'Fiery Sceptre'. He participated in the Scatterran Campaign of GW1, including the battles of the Cage, and the Razorbacks, and participated in the Aschen invasion of the Outer Garden coined Operation: Gates of Hades.

Clegg is a known strategist, but is at times said to be extremely arrogant, which has lead some Imperial tacticians to cite as a weakness.

So begins...

"Aha! Well you see my good man, they certainly do look like action figures at this moment but that is because a little shrinking was in order to move the merchandise. As for what this particular mech can do, Explosives galore! If you need to glass entire areas or put the hurting on anything bigger than you then you chose a great mech. WIth long ranged firepower that is even deadlier up close this mech is great for satisfying those urges of watching things blow up!" Russian started his sales pitch and explained more details and fine details.

"These mechs are made for surviving, even against space faring vessels. Although a good pilot and skill would certainly turn the tide in your favor I do not recommend actually trying it unless you are cetain you cant get hit by a main battery. All these machines have finite ammo so they do come with a fully equipped loadout any ammo you spend comes out of your budget at that point. If you need a quick hookup on instant ammo contact my toll free number written behind me. I promise in just five seconds your entire arsenal will be re-stocked before you know it."

"And as for mechs themselves I have all kinds besides a king of explosions. I got close combat, mid ranged combat, spider tanks, airborn assault mechs, underwater mechs! I got them all! The only mech I don't have is one for loving others, I build them to beat the crap out of your enemy! For a limited time, your first purchase is 25% off as well! Now come and buy yourself one of these hand crafted war machines now!" Russian laughed as he showed off his wares.

Someone's gotta load it

Aboard the ship Sukarma's comms hardware tracked a view of her avatar moving about the craft. Most of the walls were flush cargo containers so it showed her opening panels and picking out sacks of bright red-colored Quinoa. She hadn't little but the quinoa to make the starch-based bioplastic bags to contain the stuff. Two rear passenger seats folded down the translucent bags of edible red rocks piled high in the minimal cargo hold the dropship had. She'd brought 150 kilograms of it that she could spare. Sukarma still needed to eat but at least this quinoa could keep her healthy. This new stuff was a lot more productive and enriched. Spicy though, she figured it varied somewhere between cayenne and ghost pepper. Once those six bags were loaded a number of processed element bars loaded into the cargo. Mostly rare earth as it was easier for her to barter. That kind of stuff only came in quantity from asteroid mining so she had a better chance of getting a good price in low volume.

The Ashen didn't exactly give her a pile of cash and she didn't have much currency. Though, she'd always be grateful they gave her the material and food she needed to not die floating in the blackness of intersystem space. She could make do. She got them to give her an indiscriminate commercial trading license so she could trade with people who weren't Ashen. She stashed the freshly printed provenance papers in the pilot's pocket.

After a moment considering she brought one of the heavy concretion casks with her fusion reactor's spent 'fuel'. It had several elements bled from spent fusion leafs that were useful as catalysts assuming someone had the hardware to refine it. About the size of one's torso with a few small, if heavy, marbles in it the nuclear flask nonetheless weighed in at nearly 100 kilos on its own. Sukarma had to use both hands to carry it. Honestly the contents were not hazardous being fairly stable, even though they were radioactive, but she used the simulation-certified cask anyway. The radiation hazard was maybe a banana equivalent dose or three higher than background. Safety first. She put it on the floor just inside the mess pulled floor away to loaded the cask in her dropship's rear compartment.

Time to go
She looked out of the front monitors to see the light of cargo bay opening. She saw the last one opening and definitely wasn't going to try and cram her body inside it. At best she could straddle the outside. Her comatose dropship however would work fine. She didn't need a pilot's gear to fly remotely and just sat in the seat to pet the green-suited Fulvio tightly wrapped around himself in the pilot well. The dropship doors closed with a hiss as she triggered them to seal. The pilot access plate more slithered closed as reinforcement plates push the substrate together. As the plates locked together like a ring of ribs the door seam vanished entirely. The whole of the pilot pod rotated 90 degrees as it aligned with the dorsal ridges as the entry port was astride the four landing gear and umbilicus holding Fulvio to the dock.

A seam appeared in the side of the main ship as an asymmetrical bump sprouted from a growing gap in the substrate on its surface. Sukarma made the dropship Fulvio stand up to hop sideways off her body as her main positional engines resisted the effort to hold position. The dropship mirrored her own form but in one far smaller. The legs retracted into Fulvio's dark blue substrate with light blue lines as Sukarma took over remote control of Fulvio's systems. Smaller spiral plumes emerge from Fulvio's own plasma engines in four tentacles splayed as far as she can for better attitude control while docking.

She looked at the console eyes darting as she virtually created a cargo manifest to submit as was the Ashen commercial code. It was sent along to River as a data file.
  • 300kg Rare earths with provenance [Trade item]
  • 150kg 'Black rose' genetically enhanced quinoa, with provenance [Trade Item]
  • <5kg n-fusion byproduct, nonvolatile, radioactive, with provenance [Trade Item]
  • 100kg nuclear flask, exceeds TS-R-1 certification, In use
  • 1 Secondary EI, Fulvio Sukarma, inert
  • 1 Primary EI, Sukarma Lexicon, Armed, EMT.

Onward
Behind Fulvio the oval concave dock port folds closed. The ship moved like something between someone crawling in zero-g and a ship actively thrusting to align itself with the dock. She gripped the edge of the dock-door with Fulvio's smaller tentacles adeptly swinging up like one would perk to look around a corner. Fulvio fit in the dock quite well as Sukarma helixed the engines in a burst to rotate Fulvio to align with the floor and propel into the dock. The three-toed stumpy legs appeared in time to make contact with the floor as the dropship waddled into the correct location. Sukarma had just tapped her feet the whole way an unconscious physical tic while in virtual control as the controls moved on their own.

A small divot formed as Sukarma retracted the side pilot port that slowly curled the cyan on navy flesh outward. She didn't need a ladder but knelt Fulvio as close to the ground as she could. Skin flashing patterns of yellow and red the chromatic-skinned Sukarma couldn't help wearing her hearts on her sleeve. This place looked exciting! Thankfully the substrate that surrounded her hearts in this dangerous locale was hard as her own.

Kobol, it was a rather enigmatic world, but still nestled within the heart of the Administrative territories of the United Aschen Empire. Dubbed a protected planet, nature preserve, and holy site, the Aschen had worked to meticulously preserve the planet's heritage from development.

The fact that an Alien fleet had come to colonize it would not likely be received well.

In high orbit, conducting geological surveys, a single Archaeological ship was drifting rather aimlessly, the ground crew had just returned from surveying an ancient forum within the ruins of Eden City, the presumed capital of one of the continents on Kobol.

"By the gods..." The Captain said as he stared at the readout, one after another the alien ships began jumping in.

Picking up the receiver he called out.

"Get me someone with Fleet Command!" He shouted. "This is the Sherah, I've got some unusual activity around Kobol, Alien ships, dozens of them just jumped into the system!"

Following the brief, but panicked communication, a single message went out on the Datalink.

"Alien invasion of Kobol in progress... Deploying the Imperial Defense Force."

Surrounding the Mauhasinan Colonials a fleet of roughly thirty ships began to filter in, one by one, specifically the Reverence II Solemn Penance, the temporary flagship of Admiral Claire Hanley, along with the Command Carrier Keeper of Abbasid.

Completing their jumps they moved almost immediately into an attack formation, forming a wide crescent formation to surround and envelope the alien fleet.

"All ships check your target, watch for crossfire and ensure as little collateral is done to the planet. We do not want to explain this to Command when the dust settles." Hanley called out on the Comms.

Clearing her throat she beamed a message to the alien fleet next, in a firm, yet demanding tone, she reached out to make first contact.

"Unidentified alien vessels, this is the Imperial Defense Force, this world is sovereign territory of the United Aschen Empire, and this act is currently being construed as an invasion, Engage your jump drives and vacate this system immediately, or you will be destroyed. This is your one, and only warning." Hanley ordered.

Turning to her XO She nodded. "All ships prepare to engage."

Nephthys glared at the comm and the fleet around hers " I thought you cleared this planet as unoccupied!"
"High Priestess, The planet is devoid of anything but ruins long dead we have no idea why the Aschen have come to claim it."

Nephthys sighed and took the comm " This is High Priestess Nephthys Bastia of The Mauhasinan Empire. We do not seek war with you but we fail to see how this abandoned planet belongs to you no one has lived here for many ages. We will not be bullied off our claim just because you want the planet. Give us proof of your ownership and we will leave in peace if such proof can not be given then you have invaded our claim and we will defend our new world."

Nephthys waited for an answer as her fleet took up a defensive stance raising light Shields and charging weapons just in case.

Almost everyone on board the Keeper of Abbasid and the Solemn Penance were silent at the nerve of these aliens. Perhaps it was ignorance, perhaps it was something else.

Hanley had a job to do, so she keyed up her response to the strange aliens before them.

"This planet is called Kobol, and it is the ancestral home-world of our people." She replied. "It is intentional uninhabited out of respect for our ancestors, and out of respect for those who perished in the exodus." She explained, maintaining a sense of professionalism in her voice.

"This world is believed to be the planet in which humans have evolved, for an alien race to set foot on this world would be an affront to everything we stand for as a civilization." Hanley added.

Turning to her tactical officer, she made a series of gestures, a command was relayed to the gun crews, the word had also reached Hanley that the pilots had reached their ships.

"Very well Aschen we apologize for this misunderstanding we hope that any future meetings of our people's will be more friendly" Nephthys said.

Nephthys then turned to the helmsman "order the fleet back to Mauhasinan space.."

"Ma'am won't the Emperess be upset that we didn't set up a colony?" Asked an officer

" She would be more upset if we started a war.."

The Mauhasinan fleet soon moved for jump and would leave the system baring no tricks from the Aschen.

For every action, there was an equal and opposite reaction...

The small colonial world of Chaya Sar would be avenged, that was the promise that Emperor Prince made to the Imperial Admiralty after receiving the distress call.

"They will be avenged..."

"..We've tracked the hostile vessels to this sector of the Ayenee galaxy that we've identified as Cobalt Edge, a previously Varden territory under the occupation of an Emperor Mor, and Something called a Sith Empire." Lieutenant Ogilvy reported, handing the paperwork to Admiral Leia Nash, the supreme Commander of Operation 'Sword of Retribution.'

"I've compiled reports from preliminary long range scans of the area from Prowler flights in and out of the system, it's heavily fortified, but intelligence reports that our warships outclass theirs by a fairly wide margin." He added, maintaining a rigid posture.

Admiral Clegg stood in silence as he listened to the preliminary planning session, at roughly a thousand light years away, masked by a dense radiation cloud.

Nash kept a stern look, the interior of the Absolution bearing the fresh scars from their fight over Isiria, the outer hull was spared no exception, but fortune smiled on their blind jump, and they had managed to jump somewhere close enough to regain their bearings and jump back to the Empire.

"We'll launch forward reconnaissance elements, tag the positions of their vessels, and initiate with a quantum plasmid and thalaron volley from our missile cruisers, from there, Task forces one and two will jump in here... and here." She said, gesturing to the holographic map.

"They will acquire targeting solutions, and open fire immediately after jumping." Nash explained.

"Formations of Gemenon class cruisers, and Athena missile cruisers will jump here, beyond this dust cloud, they will use telemetry from the Datalink to saturate the enemy formations with high-yield warheads, ensure the Commanders of these ships avoid friendly fire."

"Inform the fleet to synchronize their jump drives, We'll initiate the operation in one millicenton." Nash said confidently. "You're dismissed."

Bryon was the first to depart, leaving the embattled Absolution to board the Keeper of Abbasid.

Everyone conferred with their crews, plans were being drawn up, attack plans disseminated and prepared, a well as jump plots, but one ship in particular, a Reverence S Class jumped into the system itself, carefully positioned behind the moon of a gas giant.

Engaging it's cloak, the singular Aschen ship moved silently, garnering telemetry on both planetary position, and the positions of almost every warship within Cobalt Edge, critical information for the coming strike.

As soon as Choi left the Sith Emperor concentrated upon every force adept under his sway within Cobalt Edge. Those silver masked coteries aboard every vessel and stationed on every planet within this nexus of the Force began to divide and conquer as the vessels and planetary defenses of every nation within the sector began to act cutting off entry and exit through the now not so strange technology that the previous inhabitants left for them.

The Infinite Empire seemed to fully come alive as ships from every quadrant came to life both those manned by droids and organic soldiers alike. Every ship that was not fully automated by a compliment of a droid crew felt invigorated and pushed by zeal alone as Mor and all his coterie he connected with amplified his battle meditation.

Meanwhile Atom 7k awoke to several disturbances within his grid and began to examine the stars and planets helping speed the information along as Mars Corp. and the Crimson Legion began to implement the information and direct fighters and activate planetary defenses upon their own accord.

The Icy planet bellow began to erect a planet wide shield whilst several silver masked force adepts kneeled before their Emperor and offered their own essence to amplify what Mor already had. Soon he would look upon his space he controlled not through the use of a control panel or a communications screen but simply through the Force. All life and all things would be clear to him as he expanded upon the principle of battle meditation only to amplify it more.

(Posting Order. Princess, Marcus, and then Fife. Sorry for the small post guys.)

It didn't take long for the singular Reverence S to acquire the signature of the battle station, though it's shields were active the moment it jumped in, they did everything they could to defend the lone Aschen ship from the weapon's impact.

The green beam slammed into the milky white shields of the Aschen ship, which flared brilliantly as the energies were dissipated across the entirety of the bubble, but even Aschen shields could not repel firepower of that magnitude.

A small tendril of green pierced the veil of light, and impaled the Reverence S, gouging a hole several meters wide into it's Kanvium hull, exposing decks, and venting debris and a few people that weren't vaporized into space.

The entire ship shuddered, and the CIC was pandemonium.

"Shields are down! We have hull breaches in all decks, aft section! Engines one and two are down! FTL is down!"

"Damage control to Aft Sections! Put those fires out!"

"All hands defensive positions!"

Finally the Commander managed to regain order, with an axial spin, and several key systems offline, he made a snap decision. "Take us out of phase! Now!"

"Phase Shift generators are still active! Transitioning now!"

As the Droid star-fighters closed in, the crippled Aschen ship managed to completely disappear, vanishing from even the most sensitive scanners.

In this mode, the Aschen ship was outside realspace, and could not interact with anything outside of it's phase shift bubble, likewise further attacks would pass right through the Aschen ship as if it wasn't there, as it technically wasn't.

However, though they were out of phase, the engines and FTL were down, which meant the lone ship was dead in the water for now.

---

The main fleet had finally arrived, utilizing the telemetry, they jumped in just beyond the Ice Planet's star's Heliopause, the debris from the Oort cloud obscured the true number of Aschen vessels, and both the Keeper of Abassid, and the Absolution were the first to take position, as a dozen or so Aegis cruisers took up formation around the two command ships.

Bouncing energy back and fourth among their position, a massive canopy shield was erected around the two Command ships and their escorts, a canopy shield that could withstand even a fully powered super-laser shot, or even a sustained turbolaser bombardment.

Thousands of Aschen ships took up position, from Reverence Is to Hastati class cruisers, settling into combat formation, hundreds of Galaxy and Hera class robotics cruisers, along with Satyr and Gemino class Drone Carriers took up formation among the fleet.

The Electronic warfare would be the first to begin.

Broadcasting on a powerful wireless frequency, the Droids aboard the Sith vessels, and the Starfighters would likely begin to experience glitches, perhaps a delay in executive functions, as the Aschen began to broadcast powerful jamming fields, Planck fields around their formation to prevent any unexpected surprises, and ECM Jamming fields, which meant the Sith vessels, including the Death star would find it oddly difficult to target the Aschen ships, and at these distances, hitting anything below a Reverence II in size would be next to impossible.

Millions of Signatures appeared all throughout the system, false signatures broadcast from the Robotics cruisers. Both droids in ships, and those in space would likely find it increasingly difficult to function, as the hacking became relentless.

Missiles would be unable to find their targets should the Sith choose to launch them, diverting wildly off course once exposed to the Aschen jamming fields.

Hundreds of thousands of Drone Starfighters poured fourth from the Drone carriers, with massive AI Banks controlling entire squadrons at a time with a computation rate that was beyond even the human mind.

Each Furie class Combat Drone was armed with twin 30mm A6 Mass Accelerator Cannons, mounted under the wings, and inside the wings themselves were enclosed missile bays that contained five 150 kiloton nuclear warheads mounted on a rotating rack.

Hundreds of Thousands of Furie class drones surged fourth towards anything they could find, and the enemy would find that ray shielding was useless, as the solid mass slugs tore through shields unhindered, and shredded armor alike. Even the most resilient starfighter would likely be torn asunder by the sheer number of unmanned drones being deployed.

They never seemed to end...

With each Fury drone killed, ten took it's place as they seemed to keep pouring from the Drone Carriers, manufactured in real time via Light-Mass fabrication.

They merely served as a distraction...

Moving fourth, executing tactical jumps the Aschen encroached on the defending ships, some of them jumping within scant dozens of meters of an enemy ship.

One Star destroyer was unlucky enough, that a Hastati Cruiser jumped within three meters, hull to hull, the resulting spatial displacement would ripple across the Star Destroyer, before the Hastati Class cruiser brought it's ventral Turbodisruptor banks to life, unleashing a withering salvo against it's Shields, which likely wouldn't last mere moments before the unstable energies from the Aschen weapons fire overloaded the generator.

The Keeper of Abassid executed it's own jump, as Admiral Clegg opted to jump directly into the din of battle.

The 16km Command Carrier winked in amidst a formation of Star Destroyers, it's gargantuan shields easily shrugging off even the most concentrated turbo-laser fire.

Swiveling it's Frag Cannons, the Keeper of Abassid unleashed a torrent of slugs in all directions, with each slug easily capable of putting a hole clean through even the mightiest Capital ship. The Backbreaking release of kinetic energies likely making short work of the Sith vessels, as the Frag Cannon was almost unstoppable, and shields were a useless defense against them.

The World Devastators were not spared either, as a dozen Iconoclast, and Punisher class battleships jumped into a wide delta formation, concentrating their punishing SuperMAC Batteries on the World Devastators, each Ferric-Tungsten slug moving at 36,000 Kilometers per second, which was a staggering twelve percent of light speed, and was highly likely the World Devastators would be unable to withstand such withering firepower.

That left the Death Star...

Hundreds of Thunderbolt missiles from Athena cruisers Light years away would make quick work of the heavily armed and armored battlestation, as they jumped in within a scant 100 Kilometers, they released hundreds of individual Independent warheads, each containing a 25,000 Teracochrane Tricobalt warhead, these warheads were self guided, and immune to outside influence. Among those hundreds of warheads were decoys, which meant that any point defense systems would have to contend with both live warheads, and decoys.

Each detonation on the hull of the Battlestation would tear a hole into subspace, the resulting rift in the very fabric of space and time would be almost impossible to defend against, the resultant yawning chasm into subspace threatening to tear the Battlestation in two, and this tear only got worse with each Tricobalt detonation.

The withering salvo of Tricobalt munitions on the fabric of space and time in this system was akin to someone taking a machete to a carpet, hacking, slashing, and rending asunder the very reality of space.

The Battlestation would likely stand little chance, as the mightiest of shields and the thickest of armors were all but useless to these types of weaponry.

The Battle was now underway, the full might of the Aschen Empire coming to bear, seeking retribution for their loss.

Whilst the emptiness of the void was suddenly filling with metal and energy and plasma and death born upon firey wings, something dark and distant and unnatural was birthing itself. The region was saturated with the filth of hyperdrives and slipstreams of interstellar travel, the fabric of reality was sundered into infinitesimal fragments as the veil between the void and the emptiness was split over and over and over as craft by the hundred slipped through the passage of worlds.

And as they tore across the galaxy in their vain quest to wreck a great plague upon each other, they in their folly and their haste caused something very dark to strike not just their location but their very reality itself. Where the thin veil was already weakened, a probing tendril was able to locate this thinning and with the force of an inexorable god sundered it.

Light and time and matter and nothingness converged in on itself as bolts of green energy and light shattered in an open space just within sight of the growing battle of foolhardy ships. And as the bolts grew in size they grew too in frequency until they warped and crackled together and in their combined might they tore the heart out of creation itself as an impossible tear elongated and warped as though it were a bubble born from the crust of a planet.

This bubble of light and energy which seared at anything that dared venture too close elongated and stretched until it was just over a kilometer long and near half as wide, a double curve like some form of extraterrestrial egg and as sudden as it had formed itself the egg cracked and shattered, revealing a vast and utterly alien ship.

The ship hung there, silent and unmoving until a shock of purple light seemed to sliver up the sharp edges of its armour, hard points fluttered with an energy that blinked out of existence should one dare to look at it for too long. Energy began to spike to a point beyond counting as it escalated to a point that hardly seemed even possible by any standards. The ship had awoken, with shields that barely registered in the visual spectrum and a great incandescent glow that seemed to glitter at its edge. Though what it's purpose was remained unclear for now.

Yet at the prow of the vessel, metal plating retracted over view ports and screens to reveal the bridge to the outside world, hiding from whatever maddening realm they had passed through in order to reach here. The bridge was small, only room for seven officers as well as the ships commander. It was from here that they could observe all that stretched before them and what they saw did not please them.

"Ship-Master... We have arrived." These aliens, all clad head to toe in armour which made detailing their physical form impossible, spoke not with their voices but with their minds, through the very ship they piloted they were connected to each other and could communicate at the speed of information itself.
"Where is here exactly helm? Have we found something new?"
"Impossible to tell right now sir, readings are recalibrating but... It seems we have been successful, we breached the dimensional barrier. We may be the first beings to enter the third dimension." The thoughts of joy and wonder were so rapidly shattered that it seemed they had hardly taken a chance to blink.
"Sir, I'm afraid that's not entirely correct, this region seems to be populated... And not too friendly either. I'm reading multiple hostiles with more incoming."
"Understood, power up all systems, prepare the Constructs for combat, it would appear that we have not yet left the threat behind. We are the last hope for our people, we cannot allow it to end here."

Whilst the battle began before the, the lone ship waited and watched for any that would be daring or foolish enough to move against them first.

Atom 7K would have simply scoffed at the idea of a foreign body invading his matrixes and initiation cyber warfare without even considering his background count. The Noise was ever present but the Council A.I. simply pressed the advantage by searching out the red herrings and sending viral code out towards the enemy ships. The artificial intelligence released his agents to work with a multitude of programs that ranged in the thousands as attack ICE began to search and counter the intense Aschen invasion as fragmented code began to derail the attempt at slowing down the Sith war efforts.

"I was baptized in Data, I'm Atom 7K....." The A.I. began to enjoy this little game of cat and mouse as those millions of signatures began to find themselves dwindling to just a few thousand. Within seconds the broadcasted signals then shrank to hundreds if not less. Even the droids aboard Vihn's ship would seem to work with more tenacity as they interfaced with the agents and their artificial master. So long as Atom remained operational those glitches and delays would be dealt with and dealt back tenfold as his patrol ICE would begin to slow and brick primary Aschen systems aboard their invading ships.

Meanwhile what ships that continued to fight with tenacity not seen before as Emperor Mor and his coteries continued to amplify the Sith Emperors battle meditation. The Droid fighters may have been under the influence of the A.I. but the biological troopers and ships with living crews continued to fight on. For every ship lost however two more would take its place as Cobalt Edge housed several Star Forges that seemed to continuously produce more and more droids and ships to wage this war.

Word filtered back to Vinh as she watched the fight from her flagship. Moving controls on a holotable before her she watched the fight unfold. A ring of five Death Star Battlestations formed and fired on a centeral point in space as a sixth death star fired on the beam of the other five, directing the shot at the main carrier moving things it seemed.

The delta formation of fighters and ships met a stiff wall of defense as countless droid starfighters swarmed the area and moved closer to the core of the delta formation to destroy it. The system was packed with ships as it was, how could they get in ? It didnt matter. Vinh was going to see victory for once her own way.

Behind her mask she watched everything carefully. Perfect. The battle was unfolding how she wanted. Exactly how she wanted. She smirked at the loss of a stardestroyer when another ship warped into the system too damn close. Directing her attention on the ship she used the Force, causing the reactor to shut down and then go critical. She felt the tinest hints of intrusion into her own mental systems of her rebuilt braincase but smirked darkley behind hermask as Lord Mor's Ai countered it easily.

The star destroyer that was destroyed wasnt a big loss, but when a few more were lost it didnt really matter, Vinh could make dozens more to fill their place. Sure Vinh was unhappy she lost ships, but she didnt lose her flagship, that would suck greatly

Her goal was to be met. She was in hope of forcing the attackers into a deadly trap she had the battlestations once more open fire as Super Star Destroyers rained hell on the enemy ships. An hour passed, maybe more as the the Sith observed the fleet of her own being bolstered by the numerous star forges churning out ships.

Vinh smirked in victory. The battle would be hers ? Hopefully so as they outnumbered the enemy fleet it appeared, even with the destruction on both sides Her happiness amplified through a radio hail from Victor that her stolen vessel had been recovered successful with no damage to the ship.

Vinh began building then what she knew was possibly thel argest ever vessel in the fleet, but it wasnt going to be enough. She knew that to begin building the vessel as fast as possible was one thing, but to have it have air to breathe was entirely another. So building the massive cruiser would take time. And hopefully it could end up the way she hoped

On one of the planets, Celos IV infact, just outside the battle zone, tempers flaired and a battle began on the planet,. Sadly Vinh couldnt be called upon to quell the sudden rebellion. As she herself had gone to face an old friend....

There was no hail from the Taiyou ship, rather it began to take evasive action as the Sixth order vessels opened fire.

It shot sharply to the left, and then to the right, struggling to take evasive action, but it was futile, as the lone Taiyou ship lacked the propulsion capabilities to dodge the incoming attack.

A barrier shimmered into view out of nowhere, stopping the weapons fire cold, and as the stars distorted, a 1,500km long vessel slowly shimmered into existence.

"Forces of the Sixth order, this space is under protection under AXIS Statute 12-9, cease and desist all military activities or you will be forcibly removed from this sector of space." The voice was calm, firm, soothing almost.

The massive alien craft made no outward moves to engage, rather a yellow barrier of light shimmered from bow, to stern, gravitic anomalies ripped along the length of the craft only to have an Aschen force jump in moments later.

"Hold here.." Admiral Clegg instructed.

"This is the Matokey's show, let's see if these Xenos are really as powerful as they say..."

Terra's High Orbit.

It wasn't long after the Aschen announcement, that the first waves of their strike began against Imperium targets all around Terra's orbit.

There was silence in the velvety blackness of space, but that silence was quickly broken by about a dozen contacts, dozens that quickly turned to hundreds of contacts, hundreds of contacts that in an instant turned into millions of contacts, millions of individual weapons signatures from the multiple-independently targeted warheads of hundreds of Thunderbolt Missile systems flickered into the space above the planet.

Each individual warhead, not counting the decoys carried a mixture of several different kinds of strategic weapons, they were predominately naquadah enhanced nuclear fusion warheads, each with a yield in excess of 10.5 Teratons of TNT, easily capable of cracking a planet's crust, overwhelming void shields with multiple impacts; and vaporizing even the most robust Imperium warship.

Missile impacts from these warheads culminated into blinding flashes of light in Wing City's sky, thousands of them, each as intense as the last, overwhelming sensor systems, and even likely overwhelming people's eyes.

The second variety were tricobalt weapons, each high-yield tricobalt warhead packed a spatial rending tear that threatened to consume nearby ships, tearing them in two, and drawing them into subspace, the warp, or alternate dimensions as the spatial tears generated by tricobalt detonations grew like a gaping maw, only to snap shut.

The third variety were thalaron warheads, of which shields, and starship hulls did nothing to protect against, entire swathes spanning hundreds of thousands of kilometers in breadth would be sterilized in a bath of green light, and in what could be described as an instant, those inside their ships would likely be unlucky enough to suffer a quick, and painful death as their organic flesh was attacked at the subatomic level.

The initial salvo lasted roughly fifteen minutes, and encompassed the entire area facing the origin of the attack, ships, space stations, fighter formations, all wouldn't be spared the sudden onslaught that came from FTL, and what happened next would give the remnants cause to either step back in awe, or run in fear.

---

Command Carrier Pax Infernal

"All hands, jump complete!" The XO Called out amid the cacophony of the CIC, while Admiral Nagala clasped the railing of the Command Carrier's console firmly, teeth grit in anticipation in the coming battle.

"All frag cannons target the remains of their defense stations, I want aegis fields mark two nine seven carom one one nine!" She called out, as the massive ship shuddered from the spatial flux of it's FTL jump.

The Pax Infernal was one of thousands of Aschen warships that began jumping in roughly 200,000 kilometers from Imperial positions, and those that survived the strategic missile bombardment would likely find themselves facing a determined foe.

Brilliant Aegis barriers shimmered to life, as Aegis, Gemino, and Hera class cruisers moved into position, throwing up ecm, chaff, and thick energy barriers to protect the jumping fleet.

Four Command Carriers, and seven Reverence IIs jumped into the fray, taking in a wide arc formation amidst the thousands of Aschen vessels that began to move into combat formation.

"All ships, this is Admiral Clegg, follow Admiral Nagala's lead and keep up the tempo... Reverences will provide long range support and target the stragglers, stay clear of the thunderbolts!"

"Second salvo inbound! All combat vessels prepare to break!"

Five minutes after the Aschen fleet jumped in, another several hundred more contacts flickered in, similar to the last ones, the thunderbolt missiles acquired their targets, and began their burn towards that likely remained of the Imperial fleet.

---

Groundside...

As violence erupted in orbit, Tech Con was working quickly, taking advantage of their relative anonymity in regards to Imperium activities, fortifying their position and using the flashes of the Aschen missile attack as cover to scramble Apollo fighters, Condor VTOLs, and heavy attack craft to meet the Imperium on the ground.

Mercenaries prepared their weapons, and climbed into their vehicles while security chief Henderson surveyed a large projection of the city before her.

"This ought to be interesting..." She muttered.

Antok's eyes narrowed, watching from the bridge of his vessel as the barrage he had sent upon the opposing ship was cut short. The attack had failed... Crossing his arms, the various knobs and knickknacks tied and fastened to his clothes. The clothing he wore consisted of heavy and baggy robes covering the assortment of metal underneath. Not armor, but cybernetics attached and molded to his skin. The only human parts about him at this point was the unmodified section of his brain, and the few scraps of internal organs needed to sustain his life. Other than that, he was made completely of cybernetics. The other 6th Order soldiers referred to him as a "Cyber Zombie", barely even a human being and little more than a machine holding together scraps of what used to be a man.

Still, seeing as he was their commander he had control over the vessel and thus the men aboard. The Event Horizon was his beauty, his masterpiece...and he wanted to show the Aschen, and whatever bloody allies they choose to scrounge up, that their might was superior. So far they've only been engaging non-Aschen...allies. This was unacceptable.

"I'm afraid that isn't possible at this very moment. We are claiming this sector of space. And soon...your home-worlds will be next. CHAOS will spread, destroying any semblance of order you hold dear. We will destroy tyranny, tyranny of all kinds. And when the tyranny of man is destroyed, we shall move on to destroy the tyranny imposed by the gods themselves." Antok's distorted voice crackled and sputtered from the sheer force of his voice and the vitriol behind it. The Event Horizon crackled with energy, and an indicator began to beep on the control deck. "Fire!"

Rumbling and shaking coursed through the Event Horizon, shaking violently while the energy from its reactor began to pour into the massive cannon. A purplish glow began to synthesize with a pure magical energy, until finally in a single explosion within the cannon, it blew out a line of the pure purplish energy. The line rocketed through space like a ship entering into hyperdrive. The beam was quick, yet imprecise, and became a large focusing beam for as far as the eye could see - like a fusion cutter in space. It began maneuvering slowly, trying to catch any enemy ships in its massive beam. Once it had been fired, the ships began to convene and speed forwards, careful to avoid the radius which was designated for the Event Horizon's beam.

"All men! Battlestations!"

The purple beam of energy surged forward, while the lone Matokey shipmaster watched the displays that were superimposed into the sky above the forested habitat that he called home.

The beam surged fourth, striking the massive Matokey ship, and stopping against a shimmering white barrier.

The barrier flickered, fluctuated, and began to give way to the searing purple beam of energy.

The Aschen watched with bated breath, and the Taiyou watched on their displays as well at the sheer might of the singular Matokey vessel.

Energy readings were off the charts, Clegg was watching closely on both visual, and wide-spectrum displays at the show before them.

M'Zulf stood there in silence, as the entire sky was bathed in a blinding pink light, the entirety of the ship shuddered, shudders that felt like earthquakes among the pocket dimension in which he was controlling his vessel.

He concentrated, the ship concentrated, and the barrier began to grow, turning a brilliant pink to match the beam of light, and then it seared forward towards the Event horizon, likely leaving nothing in it's wake.

The counter-beam surged forward and into the blackness of space, the lone Matokey breathed a brief sigh of relief, and he awaited the response from the 6th order.

"This is your final warning, leave now or be forcibly removed." He said calmly.

Antok's face fell, this...wasn't going to be as simple as they once thought. He turned his gaze to his men, and pointed forwards to the opposing ships. He was practically seeing red, and did not wish to retreat. He wouldn't surrender. Him, and his men had come too far.

"Men! Attack!"

And all around, the ships began to swarm and power forwards for space combat. In the meantime, the Event Horizon began charging once more to prepare for a second attack.

"--Aschen forces continue to encounter resistance in these pockets." EVE reported, as Admirals Clegg, and Whitcomb surveyed the hologram of Blackrock before them.

"These Rebels... they call themselves the Militia... and this Roman Fell Empire..." Whitcomb muttered, bringing her eyes up to Clegg. "They challenge our authority, attack our soldiers, and threaten to undermine everything we have built here." She growled, as Clegg nodded. "I hope that when General Nabaal arrives, we can put this rebellion down once, and for all."

Their conversation was drowned out briefly by the low rumble of a Reverence passing overhead, they had been coming and going for some time now, dropping cargo, soldiers, and materiel for the final push into rebel held territories.

Bryon considered the map before him, and then looked up to Whitcomb. "Why don't we just cut our losses, and hit them with a Thalaron device?"

"We can't do anything until the General arrives... but we can send a message."

Whitcomb then turned to EVE.

"We'll demand their surrender, failing that; we'll crush them."

EVE offered a brief nod. "Submitting authorization for Thalaron weapons deployment... authorization granted."

"Recommendation; surround, and encapsulate enemy forces while cutting off food, and medical supplies. Ensure local cooperation through the diligent enforcement of Aschen law. Victory is assured."

Whitcomb nodded.

Tentatively, she picked up the reciever, and began beaming a wide beam transmission towards the Roman Fell Empire, and the Militia.

"This is Admiral Elisha Whitcomb of the Aschen Empire's Blackrock Expeditionary Force; Requesting to be patched through to the entity in charge. I am calling for the total and unconditional surrender of the Militia, and those calling themselves the Roman Fell Empire; challenge us at your own peril. You have twenty four hours to respond to our demands before we commit to your complete, and assured destruction."

Hanging up the reciever, Whitcomb would await a response.

The Gigashadow - The Emperor's Flagship
Gaia System

"Jump Completed, My Lord..."

Space seemed to warp, and bend high above the planet Palisia, a sudden surge of spatial energies that registered off the charts immediately followed. Then a brilliant, multicolored flash of light dazzled the skies above the planet, streaking brilliantly across the blackdrop of space, culminating unto a vortex that spanned hundreds of kilometers. The vortex fluctuated, rippled, and then spat fourth what had to be described as a mothership of some kind.

It sat at just under one hundred kilometers in length, sharp, and angular in shape, and painted a dark sheen of iridescent blue-purple, conceivably one of the largest Aschen ships ever built. It bristled with weapon emplacements that sat idle within their armored recessed hard-points. The massive Aschen vessel pinged on the IFF scanners as the Gigashadow, the successor to the Imperial Flagship 'Foreshadow'

Immediately following it's jump, six massive engines ignited in it's rear section, thrumming with a brilliant blue-purple glow as the ship began to set course towards the planet. But it wasn't alone, as more Aschen ships winked in beside it, the Command Carrier Sajuuk-Khar winked in first, followed by the Reverence II 'Rapid Conversion'

Roughly a dozen Aschen cruisers jumped in next, Hastatis, Athenas, and Gemenon class ships, all in formation around the Gigashadow. Of course, compared to the massive imperial flagship, these Aschen capital ships were mere specks compared to the Gigashadow. Except for the Command Carriers, and the Reverence IIs, the other Aschen cruisers that were winking in one-by one seemed tiny in comparison.

The mighty Isambard Prince, Emperor of the Aschen Empire stood quietly aboard the Observation Bridge of the Gigashadow, flickers of light filling the observation bridge as one Aschen capital ship after another winked in. Prince briefly averted his eyes upwards, spotting the Command Carrier 'Keeper of Abbasid' as it flickered into view, roughly five hundred kilometers away. Close enough that Prince could make out the subtle details on the warship, until roughly a dozen Iconoclast, and Punisher class Battleships caught his attention.

For a moment, Isambard directed his attention to the hologram of the planet in front of him. EVE had counted roughly one thousand six hundred seventy two Aschen warships had completed their jumps and assumed formation with the Gigashadow, his attention moved to the larger Galactic map, which bore six fleets five thousand vessels strong scattered throughout the galaxy, ready to jump to their aid at a moment's notice.

Silently the Emperor clasped his hands behind his back, his great coat fluttering in the breeze from the ship's ventilation system. It was a black ensamble, with two silver collar pips, and two silver epaulettes bearing the crest of the Emperor, accented by a single lapel pin, the red IMPSOC Symbol.

"Admiral Clegg, take us into position, and have the fleet move into rest formation." Isambard instructed, prompting a swift response from the Admiral, whom offered a nod, and moved to the hologram, manipulating it with his hands to disseminate their commands through the Aschen's Point-and-click battle interface.

In sync, the Aschen ships moved into a somewhat scattered frigate line formation, allowing the Command Carriers to better protect the Gigashadow, and allow them overlapping firing solutions with their Frag Cannons should the need arise.

Deep in thought, Prince was slightly perturbed that the other parties didn't seem agreeable to the Aschen Empire hosting the talks, which meant that they had the burden of keeping security for their Emperor, the military mobilization for this summit took months, with billions of personnel briefing, training, and preparing for this very moment. It pleased the Emperor briefly, the sheer projection that the Aschen Empire was bringing fourth, a sight seldom seen outside of the Empire itself. He wondered for the moment how it would be received.

The Aliens would know their place.

Grand Confessor Kesslee was at Prince's side as well, a file folder clasped in his hand. They had briefed for weeks prior to this moment, but Prince knew that to advance Aschen interests without being hamstrung by AXIS Politics, was to win culturally, and economically.

"These Aliens offer us nothing." Prince commented, promoting an agreeable nod from Kesslee. "I have full confidence in the negotiation of an amicable treaty, my lord." The Grand Confessor replied.

"Shall we prepare the Bifrost?" Kesslee added, turning to face the Emperor.

Prince nodded quietly, and Kesslee slowly turned to leave.

Quietly, he turned back to face the hologram before him. The Planet offered little more than an inconvenience, an inconvenience that Prince would have to address.

"Admiral, prepare a prefabricated base, and deploy it to these coordinates..." Prince instructed once more, highlighting a continent on the planet.

Palisia Approach - CRYSTON-BC-001C "Hexomino" - Bridge

Aboard a Continuum Battle Cruiser, standing before a railing that sat before a view of the area before the ship, a humanoid female with fox-like ears and tail stood, arms behind her back as she listened to a report being read to her on the side by a short and small green blob of a creature with vaguely plant-like features.

『aSTR  Λ  G  Λ  LUS CONFIRM   p  Λ  LISI  Λ   Λ  PPRO  Λ  CH.

Seeming satisfied, the female nodded.

Understood, Crataegifum Astragalus. I am excited too. Good to see your Common is doing well. We'll need it given the nature of this Summit. Germiston Neamstan, ready the Inhambane unit. I want absolute protection in the walk to the meeting location.

A large lumbering silicone based creature gave a deep and raspy response of acknowledgment.

As ᴛHᴇ CT-10 ᴡɪsHᴇs| I sHᴀʟʟ ᴅᴏ ɪᴛ|

Then, the female turned to two other female humanoids that resembled her.

Vivaz'q'w'pi C'farela, I want you to begin the approach procedures. Slow the fleet down and change all Movement Priority strategies to "Maximum Weapons Range". Change all Targeting Priorities to "Has Weapons". Assemble all ships into a Spider formation around this ship as well. Vivaz'q'w'pi Urup'l'dia, prepare the T/P Scanners and engage them on approach out to 12 sectors away. If space combat begins, I want Crataegifum Astragalus to have full access to the system map and our ship strategies. Additionally, remember that all Aschen targets are friendlies. I repeat, all Aschen targets are friendlies! Do not use them for target practice! If it comes to it, support their movements unless I or Crataegifum Astragalus tell you otherwise.

The two females nodded and began shouting their orders through communication channels. Lastly, the female looked to a screen above her. In short order, several sentient floating pillars appeared on the screen.

1G-001, have all 1G Operators temper the Phase Engines to slow us down. Be ready to shift all ships into Engage Mode, Defend Mode, or Phase Mode on orders from me or Crataegifum Astragalus. 9G-001, I require two of the 8G Obelisks to come to my position. They will be my personal advanced honor guard to attend my side during the meeting itself. Equip them to the specifications established as part of the "Foreign Visitors and Diplomatic Assembly" protocols.

The pillars apparently responded.

AS REQUESTED BY THE CT-10, THE TASKS OUTLINED WILL BE CARRIED OUT. 1G-001 HAS BEGUN COMMUNICATION LINKING ACROSS ALL SHIPS. TWO 8G OBELISKS DESIGNATED 8G-554 AND 8G-382 WILL BE SENT TO ATTEND TO YOUR NEEDS FOR THE SUMMIT'S DURATION. I SHALL MONITOR THE SITUATION FROM THIS STATION THROUGH THEIR PRESENCE.

The female smiled and awaited the moment she'd see the planet, and the potential allies and enemies.

Palisia - Space

Shortly after Imperium and Aschen arrival, a myriad of ships could be seen visibly slowing down, already in a defensive formation. Their designs were vaguely insectoid/robotic, and they were colored in darker shades of grey and red, with purple, yellow, and orange glowing patterns across certain features. No doubt the designs were born of a combination of things thought to instill fear from the Continuum's point of view.

Indeed, the logo the ships bore identified them as Continuum, and their armor had the distinctive, subtly quivering sheen of something not truly inanimate and the reflective crystalline plating atop it. Their weapons were visible and appeared to be of simpler designs, though it was likely just an aesthetic choice.

The fleet itself quickly grew in number up until there were 46 ships aside from the central one. A paling number compared to the Aschen fleet, but it was clear that they had to be sure of themselves if they brought a smaller figure. The largest ship appeared to be what would at most be a larger ship, but nowhere near the level of usual capital ships, and the fleet was carefully assembled and numbered in designs to provide a well-balanced challenge if anyone dared try.

Four smaller satellite fleets eventually entered the area, visibly slowing down. Each numbered 16 ships beyond the central ship of each satellite fleet, though these fleets seemed more specialized than the main fleet. The satellite fleets took up specific positions around the main fleet, and then proceeded to wait, as everyone else was. No communication was made toward the others already present, but the central ship of the main fleet did flash a pattern of lights toward the Aschen fleet in a pattern long known to the far larger faction; a sign of alliance and support that indicated the Continuum would offer the military assistance arranged as per existing treaties if it was needed.
