Born in Canceron, Calen Ramos lived in the slums of Hades for most of his life. From an early age he learned how to fight, earning his bread and shelter with hard labor and keeping it with his fists. Eventually, the young man was lured into the Aschen military with promises of wealth and glory, leaving behind his meager existence in Canceron for a brighter future.

An aspiring marine, Ramos quickly distinguished himself from his peers in basic training alone. His outstanding combat skills caught the attention of his superiors, and the young man was moved into the TacOps division at a mere eighteen years old, the youngest ever. In his extensive training with the Aschen elite core, Calen's abilities as a soldier were expounded upon extensively. The young man became proficient in a plethora of weaponry; from lead to plasma, pistol to explosive. Under the tutelage of his nation, Calen learned a wide variety of different languages, and fluently speaks Gemonese, Basic, Latin and Taiyou.

With his gifted combative abilities and outstanding intuition, Ramos advanced twice as fast as his peers, meriting both their admiration and their jealousy. Within a mere three years of his service, Ramos had been promoted to Captain , one of the youngest officers in the Empire. The young man is currently engaged with the Galactic Unification war, hoping to make a name for himself in the bloody conflict.

Off-field, Ramos is reserved and thoughtful. He's an incredibly bright scholar and can pick up almost any lesson the first time it's taught to him. Not above having a good time, Calen preserves a decent sense of humor and loves the company of other people. He is incredibly devoted to his fellow soldiers, and whole-heartedly devoted to his nation and his superiors.

A paragon of his kind, Ramos is slowly coming to grips with his incredible gifts. He understands that he's far-above the class of the average Aschen trooper, and isn't afraid to flaunt his abilities on the battlefield. Calen is gradually developing an ego as he realizes the full extent his power, realizing that he could, in fact, become the greatest Aschen warrior who's ever lived.

Ramos lives for honor and glory. Having had a neglected childhood in Canceron that revolved purely around surviving and keeping a reputation, there is nothing more satisfying to Calen then achieving success. Despite this, Calen despises cheating. The Aschen truly believes in 'combat with honor', deciding that if he cannot win at something fairly, he would rather not win at it at all. He maintains a sense of morality, committing himself to his friends and respecting even his enemies. He despises looting and is appalled at the mistreatment of PoW's and torture in general. Ramos takes no pleasure in the pain of his enemies, and the only satisfaction he derives in killing them is the knowledge that he was able to defeat them.

Calen fought bravely throughout the Aschen Unification Wars, distinguishing himself on the battlefield and ascending even higher through the Imperial ranks. For all his valor, he was captured by Taiyou soldiers on Ragnaar and kept in captivity for a long while. During his imprisonment, former Aschen President Laura Roslin exposed Calen to the corruption of the Empire. Realizing that his entire service and point of existence was a lie, Calen fell into a deep depression; his mind broken beyond repair. When Darian McGregor came to his cell and offered him a new purpose under the malevolent teachings of the Ori, Ramos allowed himself to be swayed.

A true-born Aschen, Calen believes that all the endeavors of the Empire are for the benefit of its people, and are ultimately good. The Scatterans and Terrans are both terrorists seeking to wipe out the Imperial way of life.

So begins...

Calen Ramos did not betray the stony reluctance brewing in his mind. Calen did not like to torture. Beating on a helpless man with his hands tied behind his back... what honor was there in that? Still, orders were orders. If William did not talk, Calen would have to make him.

"Answer the Admiral's questions truthfull," Ramos stepped forward, cracking his plated fingers against one another. At 6'2", 215 lbs of solid muscle and the sleek power armor fitted over his frame, the TacOps trooper made quite the menacing image.

Calen Ramos had, of course, been paying attention to everything that was being said in the interrogation. He was not some dumb muscle brought into the picture to rough-up the scenery... the Captain had a mind just as valuable as his skill with a weapon.

"The Multiverse is a strange place, Admiral..." he began after a short thought, "and no place in it is as strange as Terra. From my studies in Terran history, the United States military has been disbanded for many years. Moreover, they've never gone under the name 'United States Imperial Forces'. It's my speculation that these new hostiles are from some other planet resembling Terra... perhaps a different universe entirely. I doubt they even know what an 'Aschen' is." He smirked. "...well... NOW they do."

"As for the prisoner here, I don't think there's much to gleam off of him," Calen nodded to William, "he was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. We should return him to a Terran safe-zone at the earliest convenience."

Calen Ramos quickly assumed file behind Sheila, briefly steadying himself as another tremor shook the Reverence. "Rebelles damnari..." he mumbled under his breath. The TacOps trooper kept a close eye on William. Guest or no, he was still a foreigner on an Imperial vessel. Who know what sort of stunts he'd pull? A soldier trusted no one except his own comrades, after all.

Calen Ramos side-stepped as he walked, maintaining his file behind Nagala while keeping tabs on William out of his peripheral vision.

"Tomorrow, actually," Ramos nodded, "I've been running tests on the Gambit's catacombs, and I think I've finally found a suitable point of entrance. This way I won't lose half my men scrambling around in cosmic darkness." He rolled one of arms forward, surveying the damage to the Reverence with a frown. "The Captain will be recovered within the week, and one of the main bases of Resistance operations will be uprooted."

Calen Ramos frowned. He certainly didn't have a lot of time. "Very well then, Admiral. By your leave? I suddenly have a task-force to prep."

Sheila Nagala's comms radio would suddenly quirk into life. The Admiral was being hailed.

From the shadowy ruins of an abandoned building just a few blocks away from Gambit's, Calen Ramos radioed his Flag Officer. The TacOps trooper was completely prepped for his tactical recon mission into the Wing City catacombs. All he needed was Nagala's green light.

"Admiral, do you copy? This is Captain Ramos, requesting comm-line, over."

"Copy that Admiral, I'm already en-route." Calen nodded, hefting his 52 SAR Focus Rifle over his left shoulder and fitting the butt of his 53 RCW Disruptor II under his right arm. The trooper silently thanked the sleek T-65 Combat Armor he was wearing. Were it not for the strength-enhancing power of the Aschen super suit, he would have had an awful hard time lifting the 18kg weapon with one hand.

Ramos narrowed his eyes at the broken bar door, his brows knitting suspiciously as he eyed the plethora of UCON trucks and charging troops. What the hell was going on here? A bar raid? Was Nagala still inside?

In an instant, Calen's calm, easy-going demeanor dissapeared, the gravity of the looming fight overwhelming him an instant. Taking a steady breath, the trained soldier went over the facts in his mind. Gambit's was under attack by an army of highly-skilled Scatteran fighters, the leader of the Imperial forces was in danger, and HE was the only ally on-site within a five mile radius.

The Aschen Captain grinned. Damn good odds.

Raising his Disruptor II, Calen took aim and fired at the nearest UCON van, sending a blinding beam of lethal energy spiralling towards the vehicle, likely blowing a hole clean through the car. Shouldering both of his rifles, Calen unclipped four grenades from his belt, two smoke, two plasma. Throwing all four at the entrance to the bar, the Aschen had hopefully created a viable distraction.

Calen rolled forward, trenching himself in a large pothole in the road. He flipped both his guns across his chest, clipping a new microfusion cell into his Disruptor. Now that he had their attention...

Calen Ramos growled as he came under heavy fire, the Scatteran rounds tearing through the asphalt. Calen could feel each roaring 10.9mm round pummeling against the scraggly street, the not-too-distant rattling of the UCON machine guns demanding his blood. The Captain grit his teeth in silent fury. He wasn't about to die here, alone, in some muddy trench.

"Frakkin' Scatterans. You want some of this?!" Calen roared, ripping a chunk of cement off of the nearby sidewalk. Punching into the raw material, the Captain planted a smoke grenade. With three-meter long cement/smoke-bomb joyride in his right hand and three primed plasma grenades in his left, the Aschen trooper charged into the fray, aiming at the small cluster of enemies and throwing first the enormous shield of concrete. The plasma would follow soon after.

Whipping his disruptor around, the trooper unleashed a volley of shots into the thick smoke cloud, firing into the areas where he had known the Scatterans to be not a second earlier.

Calen Ramos spun swiftly, firing in rapid succession at the advancing Scatterans before diving into the thick smoky tendrils. The T-65's on-system DRADIS made seeing in the dust cloud perfectly possible. Locking on to the advancing heat signatures, Ramos let loose another round of fire from his disruptor, blinding blasts of green light strobing out of the smoke in a laser frenzy. He ducked and rolled as he moved, never staying in any one spot for more then a half second.

"My troopers are a kilometron away, Admiral, but I'll call them in anyway," Ramos radioed back to Nagala, ducking behind a large chunk of molten steel leftover from one of the Scatterans vans. His eyes went wide as Sheila elaborated on the depth of her plan. "A SPRING CONTINGENCY? Admiral, don't do this just yet! We can get out of this! I'll be entering the bar momentarily, just as soon as I clear this frakkin-GAAAHHHH!" Calen growled as several bursts of gunfire splayed across his armor, chipping through several layers of metal and pinning the TacOPs trooper against a nearby wall. Swallowing the pain, the trooper brandished his rifle, firing madly into the mob of enemies just on the other side of the smoke.

"Just give me five frakkin' centons! GODS BE DAMNED!" Loading another microfusion cell, Calen rolled across the tarnished road. He was through hiding in the smoke. Time to show these Coalie bastards what a real warrior could do. He received Aiyanna-A's message with a gulp of disbelief. No survivors? Did she have any idea how badly they were outnumbered? Nagala would be lucky to make it out of this alive, much less uninjured. This wasn't the time for a skirmish.

"Come and get'em, boys. I've had my fill," the Captain grinned as a platoon of OIST troopers rocketed into the fight. With the Scatterans occupied, Calen was free to pursue his own endeavors.

Stepping forward to one of Gambit's walls, Calen quickly devised a plan. He didn't have any explosives on him, but the TacOps trooper was more then willing to improvise. Unclipping four microfusion cells from his belt, the soldier quickly stuck the glowing clips to the walls with a tactical adhesive. Running a quick DRADIS scan on the bar, Ramos detected several Scatterans fighting just a few feet away from the barrier. Whatever fighting was going on inside Gambit's, it had the Belkans' backs against the wall. Calen grinned. Time to knock the wall down, then.

Calen then proceeded to run like hell, finally achieving a respectable distance. Whipping out his plasma pistol, Ramos fired a single blast at the foremost fusion cell. A massive explosion of fiery green plasmic acid erupted out of the wall a moment later, vaporizing the entire bar wall and anyone so much as twenty-feet away from it. One disturbed microfusion cell packed enough energy to tear a hole melt a plate of steel. Four of them together....

The TacOps trooper was quick to capitalize on his advantage, charging through the smoking crater in the bar, the rancid acid below gleaming off his sleek-black armor in a tepid aura of gold and green, Ramos made his move. Free from the oppressive fire of UCON, Calen found himself in a new, close-quarter environment with the Belkans. Struggling to ignore the rampaging mech, the fighter sprinted forward, aiming land a solid stomp-kick on the nearest Belkan trooper, packing enough force into the blow to crush the man's sternum. He fired as he fought, landing a well-placed disruptor blast on another Belkan. Multitasking had always been one of Calen's talents.

Calen Ramos was taken aback for a moment, unsure how to respond. After all, one does not simply refuse an order from the god emperor.

"Your divine shadow..." Calen bowed, his tone reverent, respectful and reasonable, "I will do as you command, but I beg you to consider the gravity of your request. This is a small team. My troopers could not possibly destroy the entire military outpost with our current number. We would effectively die. Surely getting Captain McGregor to safety is our most important priority?" He bowed once more. T-85 Combat skin or no, six TacOps troopers were no match for the hundreds of marines stationed here. "As I said, we will endeavour to assault this civilian encampent to the best of our ability, if it is truly your grace's will." Calen put an emphasis on the 'civilian' aspect of his plea. There was much more Ramos had wished to tell Raphael, and dared not to only for fear of stirring his rage. This was not a military base. There were women and children here. Civilians who had done no real wrong. As far as the soldiers went, was what they had done really worthy to merit immediate death? The Aschen took prisoners everyday. They'd tortured hundreds of Terran PoWs in the last week alone. Although Cally's vitals were fading, it was not because of lack of food or wounds inflicted on her body. Her diminishing health stemmed from her lack of Tretonin, something the Terrans wouldn't have been able to give her anyway. The Resistence had not treated Cally poorly.

Still, the Captain was ready to do whatever his god-emperor instructed him to. Even should it mean death.

Calen Ramos had been cooped up in the security room with Thorne for an hour now, watching the fighting via video monitor through grit teeth. They'd been taken completely by surprise. The Terrans and Taiyou were cruising towards an easy victory. Despite all of Ramos' pleas to join the fray, Thorne had ordered him to stay at his side. 'Extra protection'. Calen only growled his submission. Despite his recent promotions, he was still lower then Raphael's favorite henchman.

"Finally," Ramos breathed his relief, jumping out of his seat and reaching for his disruptor and viroblade. He stopped only when he realized Thorne wasn't suiting up as well.

"...aren't you coming?" the captain asked, clearly flabbergasted, "those Terran prisoners are YOUR responsibility."

It was at that moment, unfortunately, that Calen arrived on the scene. Garbed in full T-85, the trooper descended on the group like a black angel of death; disruptor in one hand, vibroblade in the other. The warrior's helmet was retracted, and he looked at his opponents with his bare eyes.

"Watashi wa saikō no sentōki o motomete imasu..." he growled in Taiyou, then in Basic, "...I want the best warrior. Everyone else go." He glared at Kendra specifically. Hadn't Thorne asked for this girl?

"Very well then, former Fleet Admiral," Ramos took a challenging step forward. "No guns?" He perked a curious brow before nodding in consent. "Very well." The TacOps trooper tossed his disruptor off to the side brandishing his vibroblade with supreme dexterity.

"I've heard you were an exceptional warrior before you betrayed your nation," Calen nodded, "I trust you will not fail to provide me with an interesting fight."

Calen Ramos growled. "You are a fool, Shaw. The God-Emperor has not destroyed the Confederacy. He has remade it tenfold from what it was! We are stronger now. We can defend ourselves against those that would seek to destroy our way of life." The trooper extended his vibroblade. "...from people like the Taiyou Empire."

Calen took a step forward. "I cannot remove my armor, but I will lower my shields and fight you without a helmet." The Aschen's jaw clenched. "Unless you wish to surrender right now. Understand that I will accept a submit from you at any time. You deserve at least that much after many long and loyal years of service to our nation."

"I fight for honor," Calen spat, "I fight for glory. For the pride of the Empire. For my culture!" The trooper was obviously agitated. Anger was quite out of character for the veteran TacOps soldier. Whenever Calen fought, he was cool, level-headed and calculating. Clearly something Kendra said had struck something in the man.

"Enough. I don't need to explain myself to a traitor Taiyou whore." Ramos growled. Cursing and taunting his opponent. Also something he didn't do. "Know this, Shaw. For the sake of your past service, I will spare your life. Nothing more." The Captain stepped forward, blade outstretched. Fire was in his eyes.

"Come on. Ladies first."

The battle between Calen and Kendra was not of swords or guns. The TacOps trooper stood before Shaw, jaw-clenched and eyes bloodshot as he fought to keep his hold of his loyalty. All of the propoganda and Ori-influenced mental barriers were crumbling slowly under the oppression of Kendra's words. Hard as he might try, Ramos knew that Kendra's words could be true.

For several moments, the soldier was in complete agony. His psyche was literally being torn apart; caught between the lies he'd grown up on the undeniable truth he was being confronted with now. The soldier's strong limbs trembled and shook. His steady, vigilant gaze twitched and fluttered.

Finally, he collected himself, spitting into the ground. He erected his posture as best he could, starring out at Kendra through red-rimmed eyelids.

"I worship his Divine Shadow..."

That said, Ramos stepped forward, plunging his vibroblade directly into Kendra's thigh, perhaps even severing the bone entirely. His hand caught her lower back, pushing the girl into the strike. His face was pale and sickly, and the TacOps soldier almost seemed to sob as he assaulted the Taiyou Empress.
