History

"I was born ninety-five years ago in a mountain little village called Nidus. My family was very poor and it was very cold in Nidus. While my family and people suffered in the harsh cold of the mountain Tyrannus, the king of our Village, lived comfortably in his castle. He was a complete glutton, and selfish pig. He did nothing to help us. One day, on my 18 birthday, a few other villagers and I had grown tired of Tyrannus's reign. 'No More!' We said. As we stormed the castle Tyrannus had a few of his most elite guard put out on duty. Our some fifty people dwindled down to three. Me, my friend Dolor, and his brother Fortis. As a last resort we retreated into the snowy forest to gather our thoughts for a second attack. We stayed out there for hours.... but... ours turned to days... then days to weeks. We were growing weak and hungry.... Fortis had come down with the Frigis Mortis, the Cold Death (he means hypothermia). He died two days after symptoms began showing. Dolor told me to go on ahead, he wished to bury his brother. I never saw him after I left but i can only imagine that he killed himself. Now... alone, hungry, and cold, so very very cold, i continued into the forest searching for a way out. I searched for days until i came upon a thawed green warm oasis in that damned cold. I saw a small pond and went to drink, i drank until my thirst was quenched. Then as if before my eyes, an apple tree appeared. I plucked some of its lushious fruit and ate until I was full. Once i was well fed i had layed down and slowly fallen into the deepest sleep i have ever slept in a very long time. When i awoke i was greeted by a robed man holding a book in his hand. He had long blonde hair that reached his abdomen, and a blond beard that reached his belly. He had bright green eyes and a tanned skin tone. He called himself Basileus. 'I see you have found your way into my garden, Callidus.' He said to me. 'I have been watching you. You have a good cause in your heart but you do not think things through all the way. I am here to help you.' He held up a book and spoke the words: 'Timor non est dominus meus, Basileus sit unis regis.' then handed the book to me. 'In this book is the power to defeat Tyrannus and his evil. But once i give this book to you and you remove Tyrannus from his throne you must vow to me to spread the word of The Book of Anima. Do not force people to follow you. People have free will for a reason. Once Tyrannus is removed, the Pantheon of Anima will take Tyrannus's Castle and make it Elisium Omnibus, Paradise for all.' I simply looked upon him in awe as i struggled to say 'A...are you...gods?' i asked him. The bearded man simply looked at me. 'That is what you mortals call us. But the term god is a matter of perspective. If you look at it a certain way, yes we are gods.' He chuckled. 'please, rise. Go and liberate your people. When you leave this oasis, you will be endowed with all of the powers of the Pantheon of Anima... but you cannot use them without asking for permission first.' I nodded, took the book, and ran back through the forest to Tyrannus's Fortress. As instructed, i used the power that Basileus had bestowed upon me and eradicated Tyrannus, i spared his soldiers because they were only following orders but that did not stop me from giving them a beating, I returned to my Village a hero. But... i could not stay. I had to spread the word of Anima. I stayed only to read the great book to my people then began my long trek to bring peace to those who have it not." -Callidus Speaking to a group of people that wished to hear his story.

The Story of Basileus
"The Story of Basileus begins with an egg. The egg was in the center of the universe and there was nothing but this egg. When the egg hatched there was a child and millions of billions of stars and galaxies. The child had the blondest of blonde hair, and the greenest of green eyes. The child quickly grew, and grew to a full adult after a matter of hours. The child's name was Basileus, King of All. From the stars and gasses around him he created all of the lights and colors of the universe. He created man, animal, plant, and alien alike in his image. He so enjoyed creating the universe, so much that he decided to become part of it. He made himself a mortal form and walked amongst the humans and aliens. He loved his creations dearly but the had no idea he existed. He created a prophet, that spoke of Basileus and his love for the human race. But... as humans tend to do... they misinterpreted the prophet and took it to the extreme. They began wars and battles over who was right and who basileus favored more. Disappointed in his children, Basileus destroyed them, and paved a new road for man kind. He started anew. Leaving the old world behind he assisted the humans in building, he taught them arcitechture so they wouldn't have to rely on caves for shelter, and he gave them the ability to irrigate the land and the ability to farm. And for a time, Humanity lived peacefully."
(I plan on writing some Sections from the Book of Anima, as soon as i come up with them)

So begins...

Callidus Ille stepped into the bar. The Cleric was wearing his usual dark blue robe, green cloak, brown braided belt, and sandals. His black hair was tied back in a low tail. In his left hand was a thick leather bound book with gold trim and ancient markings. He looked around Gambit's eyeing the people in the bar and a content smile played across his face. Callidus strode to the bar counter and took a seat.

Callidus Ille walked along the path guiding a mule with several packages of things such as clothes, pans, and one could even hear the jingling of coins hanging in a small bag on the mules right front side. Perhaps the only things that he owned that wasn't on the mule were the clothes he was wearing and the book in his left hand. Every few steps the mule would stop and Callidus would sigh. "Come on, please move, we have to keep moving." He pleaded with the mule. The mule brayed and the Cleric sighed once more. "Please, animal brother, I know you are tired. Let us go for a couple of more miles then we will rest for the night okay?" he said. The mule brayed and began walking forward once more. "thank you, Animal brother. I promise you i will feed you twice tonight for your patience." The rest of the journey was quiet as he walked along the path, that is until he encountered travelers going in the same direction as he.

Callidus Ille smiled and nodded as he came up along the other people. "Blessings of Basileus upon you, children of the Light." He said as he approached them. The Cleric had a very content smile on his face. No matter where he was Callidus always had the gods with him, therefore, he was always content and happy. He stopped to look at the other people and possibly communicate with them. Maybe even speak some of the teachings of Anima. Though he didn't want to convert anyone, he just wanted to speak of peace, prosperity and harmony. The very thing that the gods told him to do. "How goes this band of travelers? I hope you do not mind if i travel alongside you?" He inquired.

The Cleric shook his head. "Well seeing as though I have no destination nor a set time to be there, slowing me down would be impossible. How can you slow down something that isn't in a hurry?" He chuckled and looked to the female, Siren, then back at the two males. "Therefore, i can travel with you kindly fellows without hassle. I have some provisions if you need any. More than enough for just me." He smiled pointing to one of the boxes tied onto the mule's back.

Callidus Ille shook his head. "I have no problem with slowing down. As for making for the coast, i have longed to see The coast of this magnificent place called Terra." He said to Patch. The robed man looked to Trias and frowned a little. "I abhore violence... but if it must resort to that then i will not hesitate to defend myself." He said and adjusted his tunic. The Cleric clutched the book under his left arm tighter and the pages began to glow lightly. "I am versed in the magical arts as it were. I can be both a mage of destruction or a mage of healing. Which will you need me for?" He inquired to the man helping the woman back into her tank.

Callidus Ille nodded his head and turned to the female. "Regina's greetings my lady" He said and bowed to her. The Cleric stood up and turned his head back in the direction of Trias. "How many of these 'bandits' are there?" He asked to the young man. He patted his mule on the side of the head.

Callidus Ille was sitting around a campfire with his mule infront of him and his tent behind him. In the cleric's hand there was a thick leather bound book. It was open and he was silently reading it. Though said book 'twas not in english... It was in Latin, one of the older forms of the language. Callidus hummed an old lullaby as he read, one that his mother had sang to him. "Dii me ducem itineris mei." he said and once he ran his finger along one passage in particular. He sighed and let the book set in his lap. He plucked a small cloth bag from next to him and opened it and began snacking down on some trail mix as he read.

Callidus Ille blinked and looked up from his book. "Hmm?" He inquired looking toward where he heard the commotion. "Lux, god of light, please grant me your power to illuminate the darkness." He said to himself. As he spoke, his right hand began to glow and he pointed it out toward the commotion the light stretched fowarth from his hand and lighted the area where Maelik was as if it were a spotlight. "If you are sentient please acknowledge. If you are a beast, Venatio be with you on your hunt blessed animal of the forest." He said in the direction of the light.

The Cleric raised a brow at the demonoid. "Lux, god of light, of the Pantheon of Anima." He said and the light coming from his hand grew brighter, so that he might get a better look. "I an Callidus, Follower and Priest of Anima. Who, pray tell, are you strange one?" He inquired to Maelik. Callidus closed his book and held it in his left hand, the pages were lightly glowing at his tight grip on the book.

Callidus Ille raised a brow. "I asked for your name, not your title, Belle Daemonis Igni." he said and looked to the demon. He saw the man's armor and enormous body and looked in awe, but not fear. Callidus never showed fear, not since he was young. "From your looks, i would assume you are a creation of Abyssus." He said putting a hand to his chin looking at Maelik.

Callidus Ille blinked. "Well, Daemon Maelik Rekjar Dominus, it seems we are to beings of contradictory nature. You are a daemon, and i am a Priest. Though... You do not act like a daemon. But if you are not a daemon of Abyssus then you would act much different than his creations. You seem... more civilized, no offense." He said and shoved his hand into his bag of trail mix and grabbed a handful. He drew his hand from the bag and poured it down into his mouth. Callidus's mule stood and brayed at the sight of Maelik. The Cleric looked over to the mule. "Oh hush you, sit and be tranquil, Venatio commands you." He said and the mule slowly layed back down.

Callidus Ille raised a brow. "Perhaps you do not hate me because i am not afraid of you? Fear, usually, leads to hate. But how can another hate that which does not fear it? My gods have taught me not to fear anything. Not even if i am faced with death itself." He said smiling contently. The Cleric brushed a bit of perfectly brushed hair behind his ear with his perfectly manicured hand. "Or maybe it is because you do not know of my gods? or possibly all of the above. One can never know." He said and took another handful of trailmix.

Callidus Ille chuckled. "I am ninety five. The goddess of life, Vitae, has granted me eternal youth, 'twas her gift to me when Basileus invited me as Cleric of Anima. Why do you ask Daemon Maelik?" He said with an inquiring look on his face. Callidus's mule brayed and He looked over to it. The Cleric took a handful of trail mix from the bag and placed it onto the ground infront of the mule. It lapped up the pretzels, raisins and nuts from the grass before it and let out a heavy sigh. "no no, that's all you're getting today. You know mass quantities of my snacks upsets your stomach." he said and tapped the Mule's nose with a slender youthful finger.

"I was simply jesting with you. I have not been in any major battles, except liberation of various oppressed peoples. Even then i did not kill nary a soul except the Tyrant's ruling them. Everyone that followed was simply a pawn and did not deserve to die." He explained a very small part of his life history. He looked down at his chest and put his hand over his heart. "Besides, any scars that i might have had would fade away in a matter of days, Basileus has told Vitae to keep their Cleric young and beautiful. Any scary that displayed itself upon my face or body would be eradicated. One would say my youth and 'beauty' is part of my charisma as a priest. But i believe it is because i speak of things that people want to hear." he said with a nod. The Cleric looked to the book in his left hand and ran his right hand over the cover. "Dii me duce per rectam viam." he said as he did so.

Callidus Ille walked into the bar clad in his usual priestly garb. He pushed his cloak to his back to free his arms, and pulled the hood back off of his head to reveal his near perfect, youthful, features. His cloak looked as though he had been through a good bit of rain. The Cleric walked to the counter and took a seat. "Blessings of Basileus upon ye, good people of Wing City!" He exclaimed to anyone that was within earshot.

Callidus Ille turned to the automaton bartender and put a few credits onto the table. "Some tea please, Preferably green. If you do not have green then i will take what you do have. Please take your time i am in no rush." He said and looked to the female. "Hello there, dear child of Basileus and Regina. What brings you to a place so humble as Gambit's?" He inquired to her. He had a kind, warm smile on his face and a look in his eyes that seemed to pierce one's very soul.

Callidus Ille blinked and took his tea in hand as the bot brought it to him. "Just here to be here? That is a rathe philosophical way of looking at things" he giggled lighly. The Priest took a couple of sips from his tea, his brow crinkled and he groaned with slight disgust at the bitterness of the tea. He placed the cup onto the counter and requested to the barkeep that they bring him some sugar.
