Bosch looked towards this man. "I don't quite understand your metaphor, but it's true I'm not from around here. However, there is no possible way this Empire could allow her to destroy an entire planet based off of her own grudge, is there?" the captain asked. He hoped the answer he would receive would be "no."

But somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew the answer would be "yes."

The woman across from him offered wine. He refused. "Bah. Bitter, disgusting drink that is. Thank you though. I'm sorry, I didn't introduce myself: I am Captain Bosch Vaneers of the Alteryan Vanguards," he said, extending his hand.

"And I thought the Urza were monsters...." [Bosch[/b] muttered. "Is there anyone to stand against this Empire. Is there a rebel faction?" The captain was awestruck. He'd spent his military career fighting tyranny and malice such as this. And now, here he was in a strange world, facing tyranny all over again. Only this time, he didn't have support from the Vanguards.

"Something must be done," Bosch said rather furiously. All of a sudden, he found himself wishing for an Urza invasion into this world. Maybe a successful dragon raid could put this Empire on the edge. The Urza weren't space-faring warriors, but they were known to send their dragons into the cosmos. "I've never had to deal in rebellion, but it seems like the only option this world has left."

Bosch considered it for a bit. "An ale would be nice. Preferably something dark." He watched as a seeming associate of Rake's walked in the bar and sat. "So, you're a police officer?" the captain asked Rake.

Bosch had had enough. "Everyone stand the fuck down!" he thundered. His attention was then put on the cybernetic bodyguard. Bosch pointed to the man. "Do as he says, lest he have to do his job and people end up dead for no reason! Now everyone: Guns. Down!" He was angry. The workings of this world were very upsetting indeed.

He turned to the man he'd been speaking with earlier. "There must be something that can be done about this Empire. Anything at all," he said.

Bosch looked at these people examining their weapons, talking about the specs. "Interesting. Do your weapons harness magic in this world as well?" he asked.

Bosch turned towards the lion man, and his eyes widened in surprise. This man must be a wizard, for he carried a staff that the captain had only heard of in history books. He smiled greatly, and ushered the Leo-being towards him. "Please, come sit with us!" he called excitedly.

"Captain Bosch Vaneers, of the Alteryan Vanguards." Bosch sized the wizard's staff up, completely enthralled that at its existence. "I've never seen such a thing as your staff, wise one. Such weapons are only read of in the history books of my world. Now..." the captain trailed off, "We have these!" He lugged his rifle onto the table, standing it up vertically and gazed at it. "Pure harnessed mana-electricity, charged at 300,000 volts, capable of putting down an orc in a short burst. Effective and easily controlled." Bosch spoke with pride of his weapon.

Bosch was happy to explain. "Scientific advancements of my world. Where I come from, magic is just another science, and we have found a way to harness magic into these firearms."

The captain then turned his attention to the front of the bar. Aschen soldiers came strutting in. Slowly, the woman in charge of the group of "marines" came to sit at their table. Bosch was not comfortable around these people anymore, upon hearing of their tyrannical crusade. He hardened his gaze as the woman sat down, conversing with Rake, who explained the "reasoning" behind Admiral Nagala's directives.

Turning back to Shael, Bosch continued. "We've found a way to convert magic into firearm form. This is a basic Vanguard assault rifle. If I could test it in here without alarm, I would show you just what it is capable of."

At this, Bosch's eyes grew wide. "Maybe that is the same type of magic that has transported me here as well. Although, I can only sorely hope the Urza haven't that kind of ability." In the back of his mind, the captain assumed the Drez'zard had something to do with his disappearance. "Filthy dark elves," he muttered under his breath.

Bosch's hard gaze whipped over at the Aschen woman who called herself Gina. She, and her entire operation, were sickening. He gulped his ale, taking his eyes off of the woman before he made himself infuriated. He wasn't familiar with glassing, but he could only assume its outcome. Thinking of the many innocent lives this Empire stole with their brutality. What was worse was thinking of the children they so callously slaughtered in the name of quelling false rebellions. A fist hit the table, his fist, and made a loud thud. He kept staring at his glass, not wanting to look at anyone.

Bosch watched Rake leave before turning his attention back to the wizard sitting across from him. After the Aschen woman vanished, he felt free to speak louder. "It just makes no sense, how anyone could heartlessly throw lives away for the sake of some Empire. I was trained to stamp out tyranny such as this, and there's nothing I can do because there's no one that will stand against these monsters willingly."

He finished off his ale, disheartened and angry. "They are like the Urza from my world, only the Aschen are monsters by ideal, not by design. The Urza are bred to be blood-shedding, heartless creatures. For this Empire, it's a requirement in order to stand under their insignia. It's sickening."

Bosch nodded in agreement with the mage. "Some just do not understand the consequence behind great power," he said solemnly.

Bosch thought on this a moment. "perhaps, if you could use your magic to transport through dimensions, maybe there is a way to resolve your world's problems.....and mine."

"It seems I was brought here as a means of ridding me from the war back on Shaa'la. Still, I can't help but wonder exactly how I was brought here. I can't imagine the Urza to have that technology, and the Drez'zard don't seem capable of that level of magic either. I can only assume.....no, that wouldn't make sense at all." Bosch's head was spinning. He'd had a long day here, and felt he needed rest. "I shall speak to you some other time, Shael. It was a pleasure to meet you, and hopefully we can discuss a way out of this world. For now, I must rest." With that, Bosch gathered his rifle, bowed, and headed out the door.

He was going to sleep in some abandoned building again tonight.

Captain Bosch Vaneers had been roaming the empty streets for what seemed like hours. He hadn't seen much activity in these parts recently; the place was desolate. He hadn't been to the bar in a while, either. He'd survived off his remaining rations, but now that they were depleted, he had left his rucksack behind, strapping his bedroll to his lower back using a makeshift strap that he would latch to his belt. He carried his gun like it were a burden he couldn't afford to release, even if he were only wearing it by the sling. It was exhausting, trudging around this place. He seen no combat in about a month, no employment, nothing. Not even a little skirmish of any sort.

He huffed a hefty sigh in contempt, damning the Ancients for his foul luck. This city was a damned graveyard, with not even a phantom of any sort of activity to be found. It was unnerving, and boredom became a best friend that he'd known all too well. He needed a way to get back into action: he wanted to feel his gun come to life again. Hell, he'd shot some tin cans just to see them crumple under the force of his rifle, just to see something break under the weight of that kind of energy. It made him feel something other than rue.

He sat, leaning against a building, closing his eyes and letting the darkness of his eyes lids take over the darkness of having to bear the same dull sights of a desolate city street. He hung his head like a dead man, opening his eyes to stare at the concrete between his feet.

He was tired of the monotony. Tired of of the desolation, the loneliness and the discontent he felt about not being in the fight. He felt alone.

As he sat there, grovelling in his own self-pity, Bosch couldn't help but feel that maybe he could have been responsible for his arriving in this strange place. He had been rather careless in that last assault, rushing a group of Urza like that. But, maybe they had planned to use whatever magic or technology that had transported him here on his entire military. Maybe the technique wasn't perfect, and he had stalled them a while. Funny thing was, he didn't remember them using any sort of anything on him at all. He had been charging and the next thing he knew, he was here, alone.

Suddenly, he was approached by two men, unfamiliar. He reached for his sidearm, saw they reacted to his action, and deemed them "friendlies." At least, for now. "Can we help you sir?" one of them said. The second man had been on a radio of some sort, rather primitive technology for his taste, but not at all unreliable. The two men traded words before returning their attention to the soldier. "Sir, can you come with us? Our commander would like to speak to you."

Their commander? Was this it? A chance for some action? He grinned. "Sure thing," he replied, following the two men inside the building. Inside was a facility, clearly an agency of some sort. It housed offices, meeting rooms, the works. This was an area he felt more or less comfortable in; more comfortable than roaming aimlessly through the streets, anyway. He didn't speak, knew he wasn't supposed to. He would be led to where he should go, and act accordingly to the situation. But he was happy.

Indeed, the happiest he'd been since he got here.

This place was formal, to say the least. Very plain, strictly kept. White, white and gray as far as he could see. As the three of them strode down a hallway, he couldn't help but notice the lights. Were they getting brighter? He wasn't sure, nor was it the main concern. One of the men approached a scanner on the wall, activating an elevator that they all clambered into.

As they took their ride, the two men began to speak in hushed tones before nodding to each other in assured manner. One of them turned to face the captain. "Got a name sir? The Commander likes to keep good manners, and as such we know the name and gender of everyone that comes through the doors at any one time." Well, at least they were thorough. He looked these two men over. They didn't seem all that imposing, but he knew better than to judge based on physical standing alone. He'd seen the smallest of high elves go toe-to-toe with three Urza and only come out with a scrape he'd attained from sliding himself across the ground as he plunged a knife into the ugly beast's scrotum.

"Knight Captain Bosch Vaneers of the Alteryan Vanguards," he said sternly. They were getting somewhere now. He didn't know what was in store, he just hoped he'd love every moment of it.

All of a sudden, they were telling him that he was apart of some "Multiverse Authority," handing him a list of rules and regulations and giving him the regular initiation jargon. It was strange: he was just a crumpled up soldier outside of their building. How could they be so sure he was right for whatever job it was he'd be doing.

How could he be sure that these people weren't just like the Aschen military? He looked at these two men, clearly dumbfounded. "Just like that, you'd let me join this....organization? What exactly goes on here?" One of the men asked him if he'd ever "Leaped."

He stared in amazement at this question. "Sure I've leaped. I'm a soldier, it's kind of an unavoidable thing: out of windows, rooftop to rooftop, you name it." He was sorely confused by what was happening. They were here, ready to offer him a place in their agency, without knowing more than his name, and they were okay with that?

Seemed a little off.
