History
China's magic comes from a vast array of symbols. These symbols can be found everywhere, in her library, in her apartment, even as tatoos on her body. Each symbol wields a different power; sometimes as potent as hurling shockwaves of blue energy at her enemies, or as simple as boiling the water in a kettle. Other known symbols on China's body are red symbols on her knuckles which appear to give her enhanced strength, one by her jaw bone which initiates the healing process and forces out any unknown materials and a symbol on the palm of her hand which apparently just kills anyone who is touching it, as shown when fighting the Cleavers in "Dark Days"
China is a collector; she does not participate if she can help it, and is content with supplying Skulduggery and Valkyrie with leads to help them on their investigations. China describes herself as neutral; not participating. She rescues both Skulduggery and Valkyrie several times. After the Sceptre of the Ancients is robbed of it's power, China takes it as a keepsake.
She employs two bodyguards to protect her from Baron Vengeous, Sev and Zephyr, but they are both destroyed. China and Vengeous clash, but China is overwhelmed by the Necromancer power. When the Grotesquery rises, she attacks Vengeous, aiding Skulduggery and Valkyrie in killing him once and for all. Vengeous regards her as a traitor to the Faceless Ones.
She is endlessly pursued by Remus Crux, Skulduggery's incompetent replacement. Crux blackmails her, and it is implied she was involved with Skulduggery coming back to life, and that Skulduggery would kill her if he ever found out. She ultimately refuses to comply, however, remaining loyal to Skulduggery. She is shortly arrested after the second visit from Crux, but they are stopped by Jaron Gallow. Jaron tries to get her back as the leader, but China refuses. Gallow states that he is ready to kill the current leader for her, but China refuses again. Just as Gallow begins to show signs of aggression, China uses her symbols to escape. She also fought at Aranmore Farm, her main target Gruesome Krav. Mr Bliss soon arrives and attacks him for trying to destroy the only family he had left. After the Faceless Ones get through the portal, China finds Remus Crux again, who has gone insane as a result of looking at one of the gods. China finds her secret intact, takes the Sceptre from him and goes to kill him, but is stopped by Valkyrie, who unwittingly saves him by demanding the Sceptre. China, thinking that killing Crux would seem suspicious, lets him live. It is unknown whether she will try again later on.
China gets badly injured by a bullet, and is extremely weak. The secret is revealed. Serpine killed Skulduggery, but "China led his family into the trap." China killed Crux despite her wound after he said it out loud.
So begins...
“
China strolled into the quiet bar, scanning her surroundings. Everyone seemed to be caught up in conversation. Good. Should get some peace she thought to herself, pulling out a chair and sitting down. She ordered a glass of red wine, and sat back, watching people warily and listening to nearby conversations for gossip.

”
“
A small wave caught China's eye as she looked across the people. Did she know him?she murmed to herself, before concluding she had never seen him before. Debating with herself as wether to bother responding, she gave a nod and a smile. A dazzling smile. She really had to stop smiling. She knew the effect it had. Shaking her head, she returned her eyes to her glass of wine on the bar
”
“
China entered the bar, surveying her suroundings. She didn't recognise anyone, and sighed in relief. Peace and quiet she murmed, taking an empty seat at the bar. She ordered a glass of red wine, scanning the bar warily. There were people after her, and she never let her guard down
”
“
China took a deep breath, closing her eyes momentarily. She needed to relax. She hadn't slept in too long, and even though it didn't show, she was a little weak. Getting rid of that bullet had taken a lot out of her. She sighed heavily, taking a sip of her wine
”
“
China's eyes snapped open, her face darkening slightly. "Why might you need to know?" she demanded, already wary. She didn't know this man, she was sure of it. Many people knew her however, and she trusted no one.
”
“
"Who are you?" she hissed, her eyes glaring accusingly. She could feel the energy coursing through a few of the symbols she etched into her skin. Her eyes cat like as she stood, her tongue flicking across her lips.
”
“
"And how, exactly, am I supposed to trust you?" she asked, her eyes widening from their narrowed state. He seemed to be harmless to her, a bit of a fool if anything, but she could never be to careful. She returned to sitting, still loking at him expectantly.
”
“
"I don't do trust" she stated, her eyes studying him closely. She picked up her glass, sipping slowly. Putting it back down, she tapped her perfectly manicured nails on the bar top impatientlu
”
“
China laughed, almost hysterically. This man didn't know anything. "Buy me a drink, and I may think about it" she smirked, playing her little game. She knew the minute she smiled, he would fall in love with her, no doubt. She was just waiting for the right moment

“
China took a deep breath, closing her eyes momentarily. She had barely slept recently, and, although she didn't appear it, she was weak. Sighing heavily, she opened her eyes once again, sipping her wine
”
“
"and I don't believe we will" she frowned, her cat like eyes narrowed. Trust didn't come from China, ever, and she studied this man warily. Sure, she could smell death, but she could smell something else, something she hadn't smelt since that battle with the Faceless Ones nearly eleven months ago. Madness, thats what she could smell, the last thing visible in so many eyes that day when so many died. She sighed again
”
“
China strolled into the bar, her electric blue eyes scanning the bar warily. She stepped up to the bar, her jet black hair swinging down to her hips as her heels clacked on the floor. Perched in her carefully crossed arms, a small grey kitten lay, paw dangling lazily. China sat at the bar, after ordering a white wine, and studied her surroundings
”
“
China's eyes whipped round to the voice, not in the least bit startled as to the appearance. No smile appeared on her face however, and although her eyes still glittered with clarity, they weren't friendly. She wasn't going to let her guard down, not with so many people after her. "Hello" she responded, her voice quiet and silky. It had no accent as such, just as her face displayed no emotion
”
“
China studied her carefully before responding. "Cain" she stated, glancing down at the sleeping kitten. It's ear twitched, and China frowned. She didn't know why she had kept it. She wasn't a fan of animals as a general rule. But this thing had been a gift. and, although she'd never admit it, it had grown on her.
”
“
Watched her cautiosly, her eyes flicking to the kitten. As it woke slowly and made a small meow sound, she sighed. "Yeah... It won't hurt" she frowned slightly, knowing the only person it didn't like was her butler. Running the back of her fingers down it's back, she raised an eyebrow
”
“
"China Sorrows" she reponded, shaking her hand. Sometimes she came across as condescending, and possibly patronizing, but she didn't realy care. The kitten stretched and settled back down in her arms, but China payed no attention.
