a character in “The Multiverse”, originally authored by Specmarine, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name: Ciaphas Cain

Gender: Male

Age: 210

Faction: Imperium Of Man

Appearance: Image

Regiment: Valhallan Ice Warriors

Occupation: Commisar

Personality: Cain is a self-serving coward, spending most of his time trying to ensure his own comfort and survival. However, despite his self-deprecation, he routinely demonstrates great bravery and compassion, leading many to believe he is a much better person than he would admit to himself. In any event, he always subscribed to the long-term version of cowardice, often taking courses of action that appeared extremely dangerous on the basis that they gave him a better chance of survival in the long term, if not the short one.

He is also well known for being one of the few commissars to earn the trust and respect of the Guardsmen he served with—aided by his heroic reputation, but mainly because he persistently demonstrated care and concern for the soldiers of his regiment.

Equipment:
Chainsword
Las-pistol

Powers:
Irregular-Ice Powers.

Retinue:
A group of 5 Kasrykin at all times
Gunner Ferik Jurgen, Cain's personal aide and former guardsman of the Valhallan Ice Warriors. , Jurgen is also a "blank", or a psychic null; this trait means that he and people around him is immune to psychic or magical powers which has saved them both on more than one occasion.

Background: Cain makes numerous mentions to his home world, apparently a Hive World, though he never mentions a name or any feature which could lead to it being identified. At one point in the archives, Amberley Vail speculates that Cain may not in fact know the name of his own homeworld. However, he shows a definite affinity for underground passages and has a natural sense of direction when underground. He claims that his parents were killed while serving in the Imperial Guard, which is why he was sent to be trained as a Commissar. However, it has not been stated in which regiment they served. His record at the Schola Progenium where he was educated and trained shows that his marks were at the low end of average in everything save sports and combat training. He also had a clear disciplinary record, however this probably means he didn't get caught.

Throughout his service, Cain seems to have served predominantly with regiments raised from the Ice World of Valhalla. He picked up a number of their habits and slang terms, although he never became enamoured to the cold they enjoyed, or their habit of taking showers in ice water. His loyal aide Ferik Jurgen was a Valhallan guardsman who happened to be a blank, and served Cain faithfully for many years. Also with him was General Jenit Sulla.

He began his service with the Valhallan 12th Field Artillery in 919.M41, apparently as a Commissar attached to the command battery, but soon took up duties over the entire regiment. His first taste of battle was on Desolatia, where the regiment had been defending against Orks, but soon they were faced with a Tyranid splinter fleet, which they held out against until an Imperial fleet arrived to pick up the Imperial forces on the planet.

His, and his regiment's, next destination was the planet of Keffia, where he spent a restful few years of the 920's, with the only major battle he participated in was assisting the local enforcers (calling themselves Custodes, though the title is unrelated to the Adeptus organisation of the same name) in unveiling a genestealer infestation in the sector and assisting in the defence of the enforcers' headquarters.

From here, he went to Perlia, where he was first earmarked for greater things. After a space battle, he and his adjutant Jurgen were left isolated on the ground of Perlia, presumed dead after their escape pod crashed behind ork lines. From here, he raised an army and, in what became known as the March of the Liberator, successfully fought his way through the orks to the front line, killing the warlord personally. The Imperial forces took the opportunity to attack the remaining ork forces, who were in disarray.

On Slawkenberg, he and two gunners were nearly possessed by a Slaaneshi priestess Emeli Duboir whilst accompanying forward artillery observers, but managed to destroy the enemy position with artillery after being broken free from her spell by Jurgen.

From here, he was assigned to Commissariat command for a few years, which was at first a simple desk job, but his reputation meant that he was sent on risky missions, such as a trip to Interitus Prime, a Necron Tomb world, Viridia and Viridia Secundus, the cleansing of a space hulk, fought against the Eldar, and participated in the cleansing of Sanguia. He survived these purely by being able to keep his head down, and commonly being the only survivor. Before long, he requested transfer back to a regiment. Of these experiences Cain notes that his encounter with the Necrons was the most horrific, and left the most lasting impression on him.

Currently the majority of extracts available from the Cain Archive tell of his time serving with the 597th Valhallan Regiment. While serving with them Cain appears to have been very close to the troopers, particularly with the senior officers with which he had a personal friendship.
Cain was present with the 597th Valhallan Regiment for their first action during the Gravalax Incident of 931.M41, where he was awarded the Order of Merit of Gravalax, Second class, for his part in preventing the Tau annexation of the planet. (Cain was to joke in later years that if he had allowed the Tau to kill Governor Grice, the grateful populace would have given him the first class decoration.) In truth, the planet had been infested by a Genestealer Cult who had been trying to spark off a meaningless war over a backwater planet between the Tau and the Imperium in order to distract them from the approach of the Tyranids. It was during this affair that Cain first encountered Inquisitor Amberley Vail, and also discovered that his aide Jurgen was in fact a Null: a trait which saved Cain's life as he duelled the Genestealer Patriarch.

The next year, he served on Simia Oricalcae, defending a refinery against ork predations and an awakening Necron threat beneath the ice. Shortly after this, he was sent to Periremunda after a civil uprising occurred. It was discovered that Genestealers were behind it, and the infection was cleansed.

After fighting Hrud on Skekwi and Orks on Kastafore, Cain arrived at Adumbria in 937, where he assisted in uncovering a Chaos ritual and defending against landing Chaos forces. His actions defeated a Daemon Prince and prevented the transformation of the planet into a daemon world. He later attended his court-marshal, initiated by Commissar Tomas Beije, for leaving the front line to attack the Daemon Prince's summoning, but Cain was cleared of all wrongdoing, and Beije was charged and later acquitted.

So begins...

In high orbit above Terra, the two Space Marine Battle Barges both dubbed The Remembrance Of Truth and the Astral Halbard were speaking over their vox channels. "This is Marshal Renalanus of the Black Templars, do you read me Captain of the Blood Ravens?" He spoke awaiting the ships reply. "This is Captain Carnaelgaar of the Blood Ravens, we read you Marshal Renalanus." The captain replied to the other ship.

The two ships have caught wind on the intentions of the fleet nearby and have charged weapons and powered shields, of course this action was noticed an they were hailed by Konugr Dura warning them to remove themselves from the theater. They however had no intention to leave the area and let this planet be conquered by them. "This is Marshal Renalanus to the Konugr Dura, we refuse to withdraw from this theater. We have caught wind of your actions to take over this planet known as Terra and we will not stand idly by while you attempt such a action. Our mission is to protect all human life, and what you are doing endangers the lives of millions. We shall not stand down, that is all I have to say." Renalanus spoke, even though it was clear they had no chance against 10 ships that were seven times larger than theirs. "Captain Carnaelgaar, you have requested reinforcements. When will they arrive?" Renalanus spoke hoping to hear good news. "Unfortunately Marshal, The only regiment that responded was a Cadian fleet, however they are currently engaging a force of greenskins. It seems we are going to fight and die this day---" However before Carnaelgaar could finish his sentence, the radars of both fleets could pick up a force of 20 ships, appearing in high orbit above Terra the same way the Space Marines did. Warp Drive.

"This is Commissar Ciaphas Cain, I am speaking on behalf of Lord General Baltmore. We have heard your signal Space Marines and we, the Valhallan Ice Warriors have answered your call." The voice interrupted. These new ships belonged to the Imperial Navy, four Apocalypse-class Battleships, two Nemesis-class Fleet Carriers, five Retribution-class Battleships, 3 Oberon-class Battleships each being at least 7.5 km long and with a crew size of 350,000, along Five Avenger-class Grand Cruisers each at the length of 4.5 km long with a crew size of 30,000 and finally one Emperor-class Battleship, the capital ship at 12.5 km long and dubbed the Lance Of The Emperor along with a crew size of 500,000. The Lance Of The Emperor soon sent a message to the enemy fleet after firing a 50 meter wide beam aimed directly at one of the smaller 20km ships at light speed and with enough power to destroy entire escort class ships or cripple even battleships if hit."This is Commissar Ciaphas Cain speaking on behalf of Lord Genral Baltmore. We represent the Imperial Navy of The Imperium Of Man. We are here to support our Space Marine allies this day." He spoke as the 20 ships began to power up shields and weapon systems.

Konugr Dura sighed over the transmission. "You seek to prevent loss of life, and we seek a home where we may be safe from prejudice.... I admire your courage and your devotion, and shall honor you after your death. May your blades be sharp, Ikfrain Vador!" She saluted him, before cutting the transmission.

Not a moment later her second called out to her. "Unknown vessels warping in Ma'am, we detect no less than twenty signals of varying strength."
As the new vessels warped in, the Konugr began issuing commands, and the battle had begun.

It started with the funnel shaped changed pillars and their use. The wall of drones opened up, a small circle space was cleared in front of each of the pillars that had changed form. Then drones began to fly towards those structures, where in energy would arc onto the drones and, once they had reached the very point of the structure, the drone shot forward at the speed of light towards the Remembrance of truth. Hundreds of drones did this at each altered structure, and the Starfall Launchers, as they were referred to in that state, unleashed a hailstorm of light speed drones at the Remembrance. The Effect would be like having a meteor shower focused upon you, where each drone was like an asteroid tumbling at light speed, ripping through shields and hull.

When the newer vessels had warped in, the energy spike in one had been detected, and it's estimated trajectory determined. The targeted vessel couldn't move, it was charging it's Sunspear, but the Kukri of the Gale wasted no time. The hardlight projecter was brought online, and three of the pillars controlling drones were repositioned. First an energy barrier was formed out of hardlight panals layered one after the other. Behind that drones had formed into interlocked disks one behind the other. When the blast was fired, a portion of the energy was deflected by the hardlight shielding, then a more significant amount was absorbed by the drones as they were destroyed. By the time the beam had reached the Rook class ship, it's own standard barrier was able to absorb the rest of the attack.

Konugr Dura's response to this attack was swift and brutal. Immediatly the anti orbital weapons aboard the station were activated and a matrix of blasts where fired upon the enemy fleet. Swarms of fighter craft were launched, as well as bombers and boarding vessels. More ships were sent from the Rook Class vessels, though they were no where near the amount launched from the Kukri of the Gale. In addition, several magic circles appeared near the Command Sphere at the center of the Kukri station. Those circles were identical to the ones the Rook class ships were charging.

The Remembrance Of Truth was bombarded by drones flying at the speed of light, they would have had an easy time destroying regular shield however the ships shields were unusual. The Imperiums ships were all equipped with an outer Void shield capable of negating all forms of damage, anything that would hit the shield would simply vanish however given the number of drone flying at the ship the shields slowly began to overload. "All hands to battle stations! I want all batteries blasting those drones out the air and lance batteries to target those pillars! Everyone else prepare to board the enemy capital ship once our Guard allies have destroyed those shields!" Renalanus shouted as he gave off orders and began to slowly advance towards the enemy instead of falling back knowing his ship could hold long enough.

The Astral Halberd watched as the flurry of drones began heading towards the Remembrance Of Truth and they to began to use all batteries to cover the advancing ship as they too began to move forward right behind them. "Brothers! Today we fight in the name of the Emperor! Forward to victory!" He roared, encouraging everyone on board.

Meanwhile for the Imperium fleet, the 20 ships began to close on the enemy fleets location while firing long range Lance Batteries, long range energy weapons all focused primarily of the station. While the ships advanced, the two Nemesis-class Fleet Carriers and the Lance Of The Emperor unleashed their own contingent of fighters, Thunderbolts and Lighting fighters appearing in the thousands approached the enemy fighters and bombers, behind them Marauder Bombers and Starhawk Bombers followed behind carrying their explosive payloads to hopefully bombard the enemy station.

"Commissar Ciaphas Cain, I appreciate you handling my affairs while I was reading up on what our enemy had." Lord General Baltmore appeared at the bridge of the Lance Of The Emperor. "However I have a task for you. Our space marine allies are going to board the enemy station once its shields are down. I want you on the other hand head to the surface of the planet, I have heard reports from one of the captains that the enemy forces are already on the planet and setting up defensive positions. I want you to personally lead the counter assault, I know that we know nothing about our foes but I am sure with your skills you should be able to pull through." The man spoke and Cain nodded in understanding. "As you wish general, I will tactically insert myself into the battlefield by means of teleportation once our men has made planet fall." The Commisar spoke before leaving the bridge.

Once their meeting concluded, Vulture Gunships, Sky Talons and Valkyrie Transports left the two Nemesis-class Fleet Carriers and the Lance Of The Emperor. Each Valkyrie Transport held at least 16 soldiers or a single Drop Sentinels, Cyclops Demolition Vehicles or a pair of Sentry Guns. The Transports and gunships poured from the thousands to Wing city hoping to secure a foothold.

As the Remembrance continued to advance, two of the Starfall Pillars began to shift again, changing from the funnel like shape into an open ring. In the center of this ring energy collected and coalesced, forming into a microstar. These pillars then collected the raw solar plasma of those stars and released it as a solid beam of energy at the Remembrance. This in conjuction with the remaining three starfall configurations launching hundreds of hundreds of drones in an endless barrage would threaten to overwhelm the shields of the approaching vessel.

In addition to this, the drones making up the solid wall that was formed between the 2 approaching craft and the Station shifted and changed. Then they began firing missiles that sailed through the cold of space towards the ships. The approaching vessels would note a significant and dangerous energy reading from those missiles.

As the other fleet began it's approach, the drone wall extended to protect the stations flank. The Pillars in hive configuration continued to fabricate and deploy hundreds of drones, though it was slower than it had been originally. The new drones continued to attach to and reinforce the wall, but the Konugr could already tell that it would not be enough. She had the Hard light projectors continously generating shielded energy panels in front of the drone wall, further reinforcing their defensive position. This combination defense rendered the majority of the enemies Long range weapon systems useless, though a few blasts managed to breach the shield and drone wall, though the primary barrier held strong.

The fighter squadrons that had been released consisted mostly of Wolf Axes, and the bombers were the same reequipped for taking out destroyers. Each destroyer had an escort of seven fighters, and the rest stuck in groups of fourteen. These fired their afterburners and rapidly approached the enemy fighters, some seeking to engage them the rest looking to make quick strikes on the enemy bombers.

Konugr Dura surveyed the battle and calculated the odds. After reaching her conclusion she signaled her second to open transmissions to the rooks. "Reassign your pillars to our control, we require further fire support." She commanded, and not moments later the self same pillars from the nine Rook class ships detached from their parent vessels and were transferred to the control of the station. Now instead of only ten pillars, the Station had a command of a full hundred.

"Konugr, it will take time to fully retask the pillars." The second explained to her superior.
"How much time" came the reply
"Not too long, two minutes at the most"
"You will need to cut that down to one"
"Yes Konugr."
"Open a channel to the main fleet, request a Bishop and a squad of knights. We will need more reinforcements"
"Yes Konugr"
"Is the Sundavr in position?"
"It will be shortly"
"Good, that will give them pause."

This conversation took only a few seconds but Dura already felt that that was time wasted that could not be afforded so. Events had been turning foul ever since the demon had showed it's face on the planets surface, and now she was receiving reports of an abyssal lord, and even what appeared to be a description of a dark god.

"Hek ven A hiel"
I wish for a Drink.

The Rememberance Of Truth's Void shielding continued to take damage as the strange pillars soon began focusing a beam of energy while shooting more drones at them. "By the Emperor, Void shielding reaching critical levels. It won't hold! Divert non-essential systems to power up the main shielding! We must get close enough once those shields are down!" Renalus shouted as the void shielding protecting the ship overloaded and shut down causing the ships primary shield to begin taking fire. For the Astral Halberd, Carnaelgaar watched as his fellow brothers battle barge take heavier damage although the best he can do at this point is offer up a prayer to the Emperor while they continued their approach to the station.

For the Imperium fleet slowly making their to the station, their sensors would pick up an unusual reading. "Lord General, we are detecting dangerous energy readings coming from some missiles fired at us. All Plasma batteries, are set to open fire once they get into effective range, Laser cannons, Railguns, and Torpedoes are now in effective range of the station but we are still minutes away from Plasma Battery range. All ships have been warned to keep a careful eye on any new threats." One of the crewman spoke as all ships together in unison after watching as their Lance weaponry was not doing much began to focus all Lance batteries in one area and began to fire the more close range but faster armaments. The Lance Of the Emperor would also begin charging another Nova Cannon shot but this time it would charge for a longer time. The four Apocalypse-class Battleships also charged their Nova Cannons, and they all aimed for the same spot on the station to maximize damage.

For the fighters, both Thunderbolts and Lightning Fighters battled it out with the other enemy ships in dogfights. Some fighters targeted the bombers while some worked together with another. For the bombers they kept a steady pace for the station, despite the fighters strafing and destroying them they continued on approach while using all weaponry to keep themselves safe.

Meanwhile in low orbit above Terra, the regiment of Imperial Guard Forces made their way planet side, arriving at Wing City.

Above the skies of wing city, thousands of ship whose origin came from high orbit above Terra belonging to The Imperium Of Man rained down. Vulture Gunships, Sky Talons and Valkyrie Transports arrived en mass, dropping off entire squads of guardsman which assembled into battalions all armed with their las-gun and flak armor, elite soldier such as Kasrykin and Storm Troopers left these shuttles and assembled into elite squads all armed with hell-guns, grenades and carapace armor.

Following this, Vulture Gunships began to fly overhead searching for targets of opportunity while Sky Talons deployed Drop Sentinels, Cyclops Demolition Vehicles, Supply crates, sentry guns and some even deployed tanks to the surface. While the Imperial forces secured a foothold on the planet, a man dressed in a uniform teleported onto the surface. This man known as Ciaphas Cain, a Commisar, was surrounded by a group of 5 Kasrykin and one man named Gunner Ferik Jurgen accompanied him. "Well...I guess I can never escape urban warfare. Listen up guardsman, I want this perimeter secured and a command post established in one of these buildings. Once we have this area secured we will make sure to eliminate all foes that dare try to attack this planet. Now get to it Guardsman!" He yelled orders into his vox and his men began rushing to complete what he asked for. He then began to march forward to help clear the area of all hostiles.

However they did not arrive in the Buisness District of Wing City, They arrived in Sol Avenue.

"Konugr! The pillars have been transferred!"
"Good, rally them into Hive configuration and reinforce the wall."

So it was that the new pillars began deploying hundreds more drones, until the swarm of them all but obscured the station and ships guarding it. Half of those pillars changed into Siege rings, and those that had been in Starfall Configuration also reformed into Siege Rings, ending the suicide assault by the drones. Though the reason for this quickly became apparent.

The missiles fired towards the two ships detonated or were destroyed in the space not fifty meters in front of the two vessels. Once they had, a field of lightning dark violet in color had been created. Maelstrom missiles they had been, creating a warp field through which solid matter could not pass without being ripped asunder at the sub atomic level. A way to dissuade enemies from continuing approach by denying safe passage through large areas of space for either force. What drones had been on their way, the moment they entered the field had been shredded into nothingness.

A similar barrage of missiles were fired at the surviving bombers attempting to breach the wall and assault the station. The missiles would normally, if unmolested, detonate within five meters of the target, generating a fifty meter area of space where physical matter would be vaporized. This would commonly obliterate the target, as well as rendering the area impassable.

Several bombers made a beeline for the enemy fleet, and if left unchallenged they would begin launching their payloads. Manastorm missiles were the primary armanant, explosives that released a heatwave at five million degrees kelvin, melting through most common materials, commonly used to create breaches in the enemies hull or destroy subsystems. These would be focusing on the hanger bays, long range weapons, and engines of the larger ships, and as they were ineffective on shields, the bombers had to get into the furnace itself to light the blaze. The other Armament being used were Eruptor bombs, these were more akin to nuclear payloads, used to outright destroy enemy capital ships with an explosive force equivalent to the super nova detonation of a dwarf star. They had no propulsion system, so the ships launching them had to drive into the enemy before releasing them to be carried through the vacuum of space on their own inertia. They were useless against shields, though they would pass through all non solid state defenses without problem. These were only three in number, and they were loaded on the bombers heading for the largest vessel in the enemy fleet.

The change in firing method used by the enemies fleet, where in they focused their long range weaponry on a single point had managed to break through the barrier and drone wall. But that change in firing method used by the enemy had been registered, and the drones were redeployed to focus defenses on the targeted area. The energy spikes caused by the Nova cannons charging was what Konugr Dura had been waiting on. When it had been detected and the exact location of the source coordinates verified, she had several openings in the drone wall and hardlight shield created. Then the Kukri of the gale fired it's Sunspears specifically at those ships, using the energy readings to determine the exact location of the Nova Cannons.

The Sunspear, a weapon named for it was like a weaponized form of the raw power of the stars. Highly Concentrated solar plasma focused into a beam only five meters in diameter used to cut through the very core of a planet. The weapon had been used to take out key targets in thousands of campaigns over the endless eons that the golden fleet had been in service. Unfortunately the form being used now was significantly undercharged, and would only be strong enough to assure destruction of subsystems on the larger ships being arrayed. Still, Konugr Dura could not allow those weapons to remain functional, not while the Rooks continued to charge their sunspears.

When Lucifer stood between them and Ayanna, Kinoko gladly answered his question. "We're defending ourselves from a woman who is clearly hellbent on making sure we're deader than dead. While I enjoy fighting, this is getting beyond stupid."

Hana agreed while rubbing her face. "Yeah~! We just wanted to watch our mentor show us how to do some cool fighting stuff, but this woman won't let us!"

Ayanna's scoff tipped them off that something bad was happening, and as Ayanna dashed up to Hana, Hana's head was cleanly taken off by the blade, causing her body to freeze in place twitching as her head hovered beside it, a shocked expression left on the face. She was trying to keep her pain in check by biting her bottom lip, but she was still making sounds. Both parts would fall to the ground, the body landing, twitching intensely while her head landed beside it, with an expression of complete torture on it. Hana did let out several cries of pain though after hitting the floor; her arm was caught as well by the blade and had abandoned her body immediately prior to the rest of her falling to the ground.

This was all Kinoko needed, her own surprise running onto her face at seeing Hana get decapitated. "Hana!" Kinoko slowly turned her head to look away from Hana's predicament, and looked at Ayanna. "You monster! You sick fiend! No one does that to Hana without my say so! You aren't allowed to harm my best friend!"

She looked down at the floor again, seeing Hana's twitching form. Somewhere deep, she knew Hana was perfectly fine. She was a Majin. But the very act, that someone would stoop to that level, it angered her to point that pushed beyond her tolerance. In her anger, a powerful aura began radiating off of her as she started twitching her eyes, her body having occasional spasms. "That you... would do that... to her!"

The entire area would begin shaking with power, pieces of buildings and the floor floating into the air as she radiated intense power. Gradually, her hair began changing color, a bright yellow color now coloring her hair. The hairstyle also began lifting itself upward, as if swept up by wind. With an aura of energy surrounding her in a golden color, her eyes closed, only to reopen in a green color. Putting her arms to her side, she screamed in complete anger, as a powerful shockwave radiated through the area, the whole transforming process completed.

Kinoko returned to a neutral stance as she gave Ayanna quite a nasty glare. She didn't say anything yet, letting the power flow around her. The debris that had been lifted into the air fell back to the floor, and lightning occasionally crackled around Kinoko for short moments. The aura around her was a glowing golden color.

"Heartless tyrant! You just destroy because you feel like it! Chasing off the warrior I was dueling, damaging those robots who had no quarrel with you, and more! Even if they were attacking us, fighting should be fair and honorable, and you're anything but! You're even attempting to invade this planet! I have no care for the people who live here; Humans are beneath me! But they haven't done anything to warrant having their homes and lives destroyed for your own power grab! You have fought with skill, but we're done here!"

Kinoko pointed at Ayanna, and issued her final challenge, a decree that carried overwhelming finality to whomever heard it.

"YOU DIE, NOW!"

With a level of speed that not even Ayanna would be able to see, Kinoko rushed in front of the armored woman and attempted to force her fist as hard as she could into Ayanna's gut, trying to give the warrior no chance to react. The force behind this punch was far more significant than any blow Ayanna had taken so far, and would not be able to be stopped by Ayanna's armor or magic. The punch was designed simply to make Ayanna gag and heave, allowing Kinoko to drive home to a point her new and overwhelming power.

Whether or not the punch struck or was evaded, Kinoko's scowl intensified.

--

Emily hovered into the air again, inches off the ground, and began the process anew. As Drek and Ekfricai attacked her from two angles, she began bending in various ways, as well as spinning in place at times, evading each attack thrown by the two warriors. The only time she dropped her guard to be hit was when she heard Kinoko chewing out Ayanna, causing the entire place to shake.

Emily gracefully took the hits and retreated a short distance away from the two. Her form, though a big wound was in her body, healed itself almost immediately as new flesh filled out what was taken. "Impressive, but your leader's time is approaching it's end. My acolyte has been angered, thus, is unlocking power that trivializes even all of yours. I'll play for a bit longer before I'll need to leave."

Emily this time went on the attack, transforming as she dashed towards Drek and Ekfricai. Her new form changed with every attack launched; any punches, kicks, and energy blasts, were done as Ekfricai. She however made use of several quick swings of Drek's weapon, using his form to do so each time. Her attacks were fast enough that she split them between both Drek and Ekfricai, attempting to land any number of hits upon either as she took the offensive. Her fighting style remained unique, even when she transformed into either of the warriors.

In between each transformation, visible for only split seconds, Emily's form was that of a sphere of formless flesh with random eyes, mouths, and appendages hanging from it, comprising most of its body. She almost didn't notice the Human soldiers arriving to combat Ayanna's soldiers, but made a mental note of them anyways. "Terra's military force? Very much the slowest response time I've seen. But what to expect of mere mortals?"

Once the fleet noticed the missiles had created some sort of lightning field, the ships were forced to stop in their tracks and continue their long range bombardment. However, they did not need to keep getting closer, the goals of the ships were much different than getting close to use their broadside firepower however it would have been useful to get close enough to hammer the smaller ships. However what would be noted was the entire fleet charging their engines almost like they were gonna charge through the field. "Warp Drive engines online, preparing jump in 15 seconds."

The Rememberance Of Truth was thankful for the drones stopping their assault

For the ships, the bombers would note that the missiles that had stopped the fleet from advancing were aimed at them. So they were forced to aim some weapon systems at them to take them out before they blocked off to many areas where the enemy can have a better defensive advantage. For the fighters, they would notice the bombers making a bee line for the ships and engaged them hoping to take out as many as they could before they could begin wrecking havoc on the fleet.

While the four Apocalypse-Class Battleships and the Lance Of The Emperor charged their Nova cannon to deliver its payload. They would note the enemy station firing off a beam all of the Battleships using their Nova Cannons. However even with its immense firepower the Void Shielding would easily withstand the attack since the gun itself was protected by the shielding. However once the Nova Cannons would fully charge and if the attack stopped, every ship shut off their Void Shielding and the 5 ships firing off another barrage of their Nova Cannon. All focused on one area. The shell would travel again at light speed with firepower rivalling multiple plasma warheads.

Above Sol Avenue, the colum of soldiers and soldiers on top of buildings would suddenly be attacked by strafing Vulture Gunsips belonging to the Imperium of man. Behind them an entire battalion of Imperial Guardsman poured from all around them in large battalions. Although the Warriors would not the weapons were not doing much damage, they would however not that if they focused fire they would note their attacks piercing their armour and certain soldiers wielded plasma weapon capable of easily piercing their armour it it it. However elite soldiers, such as Kasrykin or Storm Troopers, the warriors would immediately note that their armour was taking more damage.

Behind the regiment of Infantry, they would see armoured walker vehicles known as Sentinals and some tanks rolling down the street. Behind this all, a man dressed in a uniform walked behind them all, his very presence seemed to invigorate the man around him making it clear he was the leader of the Imperium forces. "Jurgen, how does it feel to once again get back to the battle? Knowing that we are here on another mission to save a planet that we have just met." The Commisar spoke to a man wearing guardsman armour and holding a melta-gun on his back. "Oh it feels nice knowing I have to protect your ass again. Because all you really care is your own hide sir, but regardless it's nice to be back out again." The man named Jurgen spoke. "You know I have yet to execute a single person, perhaps you are aiming to be the first man shot under my command?" He spoke to his personal aid. Jurgen simply just scoffed at him before resuming continuing behind the armoured line.

Konugr Dura noted the ceased forward charge of the Remembrance and Astral Halberd, but she frowned. "Warp fields wouldn't be enough to stop you, Marshal... what are you planning."
Her second interrupted her thoughts. "Ma'am, reinforcements are on the way, The rooks have finished charging their attack and are firing now, and also..."

"The Sundavr is in position."

Konugr Dura smiled as she looked at the Remembrance of truth. "Very well, signal them to begin their mission, their target is the commander of that vessel. Now they shall finish what Ayanna started."

As the signal was given, the Remembrance of truth would notice a small frigate sized ship, only about forty meters in length and colored almost completely black, was docked onto the side of their hull. How it had gotten there could not be determined, but the Crew of the Remembrance would only just now notice it, as it had begun boarding operations to their ship. A team of thirty Legion Warriors poured into the ship, alongside three members of Orya Abr Sundavr, and a Fyrnskain. This was the team Konugr Dura had assigned to disabling and destroying the Remembrance of truth.
The Astral Halberd, unless told by the crew aboard the remembrance, would not be aware of the ships presence. It did not appear on any sort of scanner or detection system, and in the electronical sense it simply did not exist. But, like the Shadows from which it's name is derived, it was visible to the naked eye.

--

At the primary battle line, the sunspears had failed to pass through the void shielding, but Konugr Dura kept pace. More arcane circles began forming around the dome, as the sunspears were prepared to fire again. Meanwhile, to stop the Nova blasts, a most curious thing occured. Several of the fighters broke off from dog fighting and flew into the path of the weapons, absorbing copious amounts of the attack. This in combination with the hard light shields and drone wall made the attack ineffective. More and more drones continued to pour out of the pillars, so many that they had begun to detach from the drone wall and began flying manually towards the Astral Halberd and Remembrance of truth. The Drones had a weapon designed specifically for cutting into and disabling weapon systems, and they could fly beneath the standard barriers now that the void shielding had been overloaded. They would do so and attempt to attach to the weapon systems, using their primary weapons to burn and disable them.

The bombers that had begun making a beeline for the enemy vessels were left unguarded, and many were dispatched with ease. One managed to get close enough to release it's Eruptor payload towards one of the larger ships before it was destroyed. The Bomb would fly under it's own inertia towards it's target, and if it managed to get within sixty meters, it would explode with the force of a small scale super nova.

But perhaps of the greatest significance. The nine 20km rook class ships had finished charging their weapons, and as a result nine dwarf stars were fired towards Terras surface, burning a path through the atmosphere as they approached the surface. After having released that attack, three of the rook class ships began descending into the upper atmosphere of the planet, rapidly approaching three different regions of Terra. The remaining five vessels repossitioned around the Kukri of the Gale Station, where they began firing long range laser weapons of their own upon the attacking fleet.

The machine couldn't believe Ayanna's reaction to his attempt to bring peace, then again, the Dark Wings probably would have done something similar had he not mercilessly slaughtered every single one he encountered in the name of preserving humanity.

On Kinoko's transformation, Lucifer could read the energy output, at least in the aura and the way it was interacting with the environment around Kinoko. Though seeing the other being beheaded gave him pause. He'd seen her pull herself together before upon being split in half, so this did give him hope that she wasn't dead, but she did seem to be in great pain.

While Kinoko began her unrelenting assault on Ayanna he descended to examine Hana. With surprising gentleness for a machine he moved to pick up her severed head and gently place it near her body. He didn't say anything, his words had proven useless with this group, but at least a gesture of acceptance might help in some way. If Hana was watching him closely enough she'd be able to see he was slowly repairing himself, the crack in his right eye lense was shrinking and his armor was slowly rebuilding itself.

Wing City often found itself the venue for the next big war, a victim of senseless violence and mayhem. The civilian populace always found themselves in danger of death, of losing those they held dearest to that violence and mayhem.

A dark figure shot out of the sky and came to crash into the street, debris exploding up into the air and then raining back down in chunks. When it began to clear there was a crater in the street, standing in it was a woman donning body armor colored deep orange over a black jumpsuit.

Holsters covered her body, a dozen handguns tucked into each. They glimmered in whatever light was nearby. Sometimes blinding those that found their attention focused on the pristine weapons instead of the piercing green eyes of the woman barely hidden beneath the gas mask that covered her face.

The armored woman was a harbinger of things to come. An omen. Simultaneously, she was a beacon of hope to the people of Wing City.

There would be no more senseless violence and mayhem as long as she was there. No more wars. No more loved ones to be buried in graveyards.

Several wormholes opened high up in the sky directly above the harbinger, each glowing and swirling with orange energy. Crackling with artificial lightning.

Dozens and dozens of small fighters and bombers flew from the wormholes, all of them flying in formation that clearly indicated that they were ready for a fight.

They were followed by one large ship. It was nearly a hundred kilometers in length, casting a large shadow over the city. And then came another. And another.

A dozen more of the ships came into view from wherever they were in the wormholes. Half flew further up into the sky, the others were content to eclipse the city until they were no longer needed.

Until the fighting that was causing so much damage to the city was no more.

The Invictus were back and they were not happy with what they were seeing.

As all this occurred, Hastur watched, having noticed the Dark Queen had opted to completely vanish, leaving him to watch the chaos. When the blast flew at him, he watched as it attempted to entrap him, but he merely gestured and immediately the shield shattered like glass. Below there was great deal of chaos, so much sabre rattling combined with ego who believed themselves superior. It was rather dull affair, but it was five times more enjoyable than anything else happening in the whole cosmic reality. Nonetheless the arrival of the Invictius seemed to interest him as he peered up, "Finally worthy pieces."

Below the tribbles had started at 100, one been murdered point blank, but they were now 500 tribbles on the ground and being they were carniverous they were attacking anyone nearby as well as eating through the building. Any matter living, material or otherwise was their target. Of course the attempts to kill them and stop them multiplying was doable, but getting them all that was the issue.

Hastur did not doubt for one second though Wing City could not be saved. In fact he somewhat could admire their reseilents despite everything the city goes through on a daily basis.

Nine blindingly bright points of light in the sky indicated that it was now time. Ayanna, after being struck by Kinoko's sudden attack, not only lost all the breath in her lungs, but also coughed up a bit of blood. She stumbled back a bit before turning and leaping with all her remaining strength back to the crater and Molnish. She landed in a tumble as the Enhancement spell she had cast dwindled away.

Ekfricai and Drek had been expecting off kilter tactics, they were used to them being employed by the dark gods of the void. Even so, suddenly having to face yourself, and your battle brother, would rattle anyone. Ekfricai, more adept at a defensive stance than his brother, was able to whether the storm with relative ease. Drek however had trouble defending and ended up jumping backwards to land beside Molnish, just to avoid Emily's barrage. "You had better be ready now" he said as he looked up to the mage.

"Actually, I've just finished preparing" Molnish replied. Molnish hovered off the ground, runic sigils glowing and swirling around him in a dozen different circles. His hands were spread apart as he manipulated the streams of energy, which flowed all around him in many dizzying patterns. His staff floated above him, crackling with power. Ekfricai leaped back, holding his shoulder, which had taken a pretty nasty hit from when Emily had been assaulting him in Drek's form.

It was at this point that Ayanna landed beside them. Drek was the first to her side, "Hey, get up warmonger. This isn't done yet." He said in a visibly stressed tone. Ayanna pulled herself up shakily with his help, and looked over to where she had Left Kinoko. "This... Has gone on long enough."

At that moment the orange portals would have opened, and all three of them looked to the newly arriving ships. "My my, this is becoming quite the Gala." Ekfricai said, smiling brightly.
"Shut up." Drek returned at him.
"Molnish we are out of time, you need to cast the spell now. We have to get rid of the abyssal god and then clear this place so the Rook can fortify our position." Ayanna said between heavy breaths.
"Done. Lets begin."

Molnish raised his hands to the air and his staff raised as well. The first sign any would have of the event would be a crackling of energy. Then a massive arcane circle covered the whole of the district as it formed in the air. Above it another circle formed, and then another, and again another. These circles continued to form far into the sky, until it seemed the whole of the atmosphere had been turned into a great ring of runic sigils. At that moment the Rook class ships in high orbit fired their weapons, the concentrated power of nine dwarf stars was blasted through the Arcane circles, and each one the energy passed through changed the energy itself, from a white hot plasma of unbearable heat into raw magical power, which stormed down like thunder from heaven to strike the Staff above Molnish.
The six Paladins originally sent to reinforce Ayanna had shifted their weapons back into the forms of staves. They each raised these into the air, and the thunderous force that wasn't absorbed by Molnish's tool was taken by the Paladins, before it too was refocused into his staff.

Then Ayanna, Ekfricai, and Drek'Thaleen each raised their respective weapons into the air. The power then arced from Molnish's staff to each of their weapons, and using that as the focal point, the spell was cast. Each of the three began to crack and break, their skin erupting as the power flowed into their bodies. From the cracks in their form a pure white light shone through, flooding the area as though each of the three were a sun in and of themselves. A moment later and the spell was completed and three entirely new entities stood in their place.

Image
Ayanna no longer looked as a woman, she no longer even looked alive. Where once had been the aggressive warrior wielding the long blade of blue, there stood what seemed to be a burning creature of blades and spikes and metal. In it's right hand was the long hand and a half sword of blue starsteel that rippled with iridescent light. It's left was empty. It's eyes , if thats what they were, burned with fury unquantifiable. It looked only at Emily.

Image
Wings of silver light, pale and cold, unfolded to reveal the Ascended form of Drek'Thaleen. In his right hand he held his scythe, his left was empty. His body was covered in a cold and lifeless silver armor that shone pale with it's own light. Chains hung from his form, and the air was cold around him.

Image
Ekfricai stepped forward, the earth cracking and rising into the air around him. A fire burned in his arms, and of those he now bore four. Molten light burnished his body that seemed earthen in it's strength. A ring hovered behind him, testamount to his ascension to a godstate. He smiled at emily, burning eyes without pupils giving the impression of merriment.

Thus were the three Warriors of Deyja'Tugal ascended to godhood, albeit Temporarily. Molnish called out to them, still hovering surrounded by arcane circles. "You do not have much time, I will sustain you as long as I can but you must put an end to the void lord while you can!"

The three ascended needed no further encouraging, as all three rushed forward to meet their foe.

------

An archer stationed on a nearby building was scanning the area as events unfolded when he spied upon a pair of humans atop an adjacent building. He called down to his brothers below, four of which immediatly detached and began their climb to the roof to apprehend the offenders.

------

The sorcerers, after channeling energy for so long, had finally completed their task. At last, twelve hulking Golems of Starsteel had been formed. They were all but impervious to physical assault, and magic would only be absorbed by the Starsteel. The ultimate siege weapons were now deployed, and just in time, towards the various fronts throughout the city. Joining them were whole contingents of Legion Warriors, complete with Fyrnskain Captains and Paladin support units. Where as before the forces were only forming a perimeter, now the invasion had begun in earnest.

-------

And then, from high above in the orbit of Terra, a massive, 20 kilometer long ship shaped like an obelisk, began a descent towards the surface. The point of the obelisk shape was aimed for the business district, and the massive vessel fell with the slow assurity of night. Soon it would touch down, within no less than five minutes, and when it did the shockwave would outright destroy the nearest structures, and scatter dust and debris throughout the city. It drew inexorably closer to the surface...

Accompanying the craft were swarms of fighters and bombers, the majority of which directed themselves towards the Invictus fleet. No less than fourteen Knight class ships, each one five kilometers in length, ducked down from the upper atmosphere and began their approach to the Invictus fleet.

Hana, upon receiving help from Lucifer, began moving her arms, her face making expressions of effort being exerted. Slowly, but surely, her arms found her head, pulling it into her body as her severed arm joined it. Her body then dissolved into a mass of pink gelatin like material, thick as a putty, that began floating into the air. The mass reformed itself into Hana in short order, her body free of any prior wounding. She looked as though she hadn't even seen any combat.

"Kee hee hee! Thanks a bunch Mr. Robot Thing!"

She smirked and took off flying again, only this time to Emily's side, landing to the woman's left. "I'm back and better than ever! I've even invented a new game for us!" She beat her chest as she pumped herself up for another fight.

--

Kinoko would utilize Rapid Movement to appear at Emily's right side before one could even snap. Without her armor, she did look woefully under equipped, and rather exposed. However, her anger seemed to be fueling her; as she gritted her teeth, staring down Ayanna, her muscles seemed to grow, enhancing their size beyond what she was at before. Her glow was still prevalent, and she chuckled. "So you're back in one piece, Hana. Good! I'm angry, so let's get them!" Kinoko's feet began sinking into the floor with sheer power. "Mentor! Leave that one with the blue sword to me. She tried to kill Hana, ignoring all else to do so, and no one is allowed to even try and kill my friends without my permission! I WILL DESTROY HER!"

Emily scolded Kinoko at this point. "Kinoko! Calm down! They are at a level where I must take them seriously now. Stay calm and focused so you do not run into any of their attacks. We have only a few minutes left before I will take us back to safety so you can be rearmed to fight their reinforcements."

Hana was giggling uncontrollably as she focused herself, massive amounts of steam ejecting from her head, her arms, and her legs. Her power spiking a small amount. "I'll dump 'em all over! I think I know where their power is coming from, so I'll destroy it!"

--

Seeing the three now before herself and her acolytes, Emily herself smirked, her eyes becoming their black milky hue again. "My acolytes... I am going to use my true form, and thus, all of my power. The transformation can make inferior beings go mad, and it appears horrific to many. Equip the special earrings, those I said were blessed with the Unknown Trinity's power. They will protect you from anything I do. as long as I show no intention to harm you. It will shield your eyes and ears from what I truly look like, a form neither of you are ready to glance at. I will not allow it to harm bystanders if possible however, and will attempt to remain as appealing as possible. So no objections to what I say!"

Upon finishing this warning, and as Kinoko and Hana each equipped the small baubles they had, Emily's mouth began opening as though she was stretching it open to eat something. However, when it continued to open, and began pulling down to the floor, Emily's body began following suit with her hands and her legs also opening in this manner. As her whole body began transforming, it appeared as though she was turning herself inside out.

The process appeared gruesome, and her form began shrouding in a hazy mist that had the composition of blood and dissolving flesh in equal parts. Her form solidified to appear feminine, and she even retained the shapely and curvaceous form her avatar had initially. What ruined the sight was the fact that her body constantly shifted and moved; her body spawned several appendages at regular intervals that would travel across her body to varying distances before being absorbed once more into her form. Aside from her face having two featureless and empty eyes that occasionally glowed with yellow, her bosom, hips, arms, legs, and even back had extra pairs of eyes and mouths, with the side of her torso being one big mouth. Surrounding her at ground level, constant tentacle like growths of flesh served as a sort of ground based travel method. There were too many to accurately count. Her head was still capped by the same Mitre, but it soon dissolved into her as it was replaced by a weird symbol that could not be explained. Her size increased in height slightly, approaching seven feet easily, even if it was likely being suppressed in truth. Any further description was too gruesome and horrific to even be written or recorded, let alone even seen, but it was no lie to say her form was something that should not be seen, or even spoken of, but the end result was a revolting combination of an appealing feminine figure clashed with everything that was wrong and unholy to gaze upon.

--

Finishing the transformation, a swift process that took only seconds, the distorted voice spoke in full.

"You will regret challenging Reflek-She! You have officially forfeited your lives as all others before you have!"

Over her entire form, discharges of a putrid liquid substance would emerged from her as nearby debris and loose rubble began levitating around her. The putrid liquid would quiver as it solidified into fleshy masses that exploded into wisps of energy. Each wisp appeared as a tormented and lightly screeching head in the shape of various races; representing individuals whom were no doubt killed in trying to fight her themselves. The wisps' moaning and wailing began filling the area with an intense pressure and despair that could drive all but the most mentally solid insane if it was heard for too long. The cries were a sickening reflection of her capabilities and her demeanor. As the wisps wailed, they would return to her, only for more to emerge from her form, an endless cycle.

--

Hastur would find a voice contacting him, one belonging to Reflek-She, one delivered via telepathy in a language that only they two could use, for anyone else without the proper measures in place would be driven insane from hearing single words, let alone more. "Somehow, your presence reassures me; do what you will, here, Hastur, I will decline to interfere with you in any way, as I assume you no doubt will decline to interfere with me. Request the change in plans at anytime, for I am open to suggestions from a familiar face."

--

The attractive female figure, as alluring as she was reviling due to all the malformations and abnormalities, took a coy, perhaps girlish, pose as an arm and hand extended from her form, a taunt with a finger goading the three ascended beings to come at her and her acolytes. She then dissolved the hand back into her being, taking on no fighting stance in particular as the waves of appendages that grew out of her base alongside the tentacles crashed over each other over and over again in symbolic ways that weren't at all sane or normal.

The trio seemed ready to truly fight, awaiting their opposition to charge them.

It took a while for Morganovicz to gain his bearings once the Imperium marines had made it planetside, this crude means of planetfall easily came to a shock to his body, mainly due to being stuck in a carrier while being surrounded by the columns of soldiers. There was only one reason why he was happy to be hired by the Imperium, besides knowing that this was needed to heighten the relationships between the Commonwealth and the Imperium, and that was his knowledge of this planet known as Terra. The atmosphere held large quantities of nitrogen, a perfect source of nourishment for the Shaki'lyu race as the symbiotic nitrogen fixing bacteria located in the pseudo-lungs, providing an organic source of nitrogen for the body's metabolic demands. A single deep breath was enough to feel the effects of nourishment, as if he had eaten a large meal. Anyway, Morganovicz was here for a reason, and in order to fulfil his contract, he had to be presented with orders from the leader of this operation.

With the Halberd of Montayzuomah held over his shoulder, the Vladaminsky armour worn over his body, designed to grant direct protection of vital areas of the body such as the chest, groin and joints, while less-vital areas were left bare for sunlight to hit the skin; enabling photosynthesis to take place at all times. As means to prevent damage to the less-armoured areas, a plasma shield was worn on his left arm; when activated, the shield would extend to the size of the body. For now, it was left deactivated for easy movement. It was only a moment since the troops had made it planetside and they had already began their assault in the form of strange gunships, something that was simply cast away as unimportant as the Shaki'lyu irregular made his way through the battlefield in search of the Commisar.

Once he had finally found the familiar uniform of high ranked Imperium soldiers, Morganovicz quickly made his way to stand beside him, giving a small nod towards the guardsman who protected the Commisar. "Yo, leader, I gotta give my thanks to bringing me here. Gave me a reason to get out of the palace, y'know." Morganovicz spoke out, projecting his voice over the sounds of the gunfire in order to be heard, "So what's the plan of action for us? I'm sure you're aware of my Sa'ooayna affinity."

The assault by the gunships scattered the ranks of Warriors, but the fyrnskain among them continued their stride as the bullets ricocheted off their armor. They started charging forward, shoulder first, at the opponents to show themselves while the remaining warriors rallied. Once they had gathered together, the warriors raised their shields to defend against the Gunships while several took their spears and threw them into the air. Once they were airborne the hafts of the spears ignited and burned like the exhaust froma rocket, driving the blades towards and into the gunships. While in flight the surface of the blade was incited and turned to a plasma state that would melt through all but the thickest armor. Finally, if the spears were able to hit their targets, the inertia of the flare, combined with the plasmafied surface, would burrow them into the gunships, where they would explode and riddle the interior with molten shrapnel.

Even if they did manage to take out the gunships, the quickly surrounded warriors would be overwhelmed by the infantry forces deployed against them, fifty or so would manage to reform the shield wall. The shields, enchanted as they were, would be impervious to the gunfire, and as they were made of starsteel, the unique properties of the material would absorb the heat and energy of the plasma with ease. Short of anti tank weaponry, the shield wall would be an impenetrable defense, and the warriors would be able to hold until reinforcements came.

Lucifer heaved a mechanical sigh of relief at Hana's recovery. However as he turned back to observe the crater, it was clear things were escalating even further. He knew he couldn't compete with any of the forces being unleashed below. He resigned himself to fleeing this conflict after another examination of the area.

It didn't take long for his mechanical eyes to spot the news crew atop one of the distant buildings. If anything he could at least get them out of danger. Thankfully his energy reserves were holding and so he took off, flying towards Clair and her cameraman. He didn't know about the soldiers also climbing the building towards them, though with his flight speed, it was likely he could get there before them.

The Gunships in the air would notice the spears throne at them, however thanks to their VTOL like design instead of having to maneuver to the side or speed up all the had to do was easily fly up or down and avoid the spear throne at them. Some gunships to focused on avoiding other hostiles were hit by these spears causing the occupants inside the ship to be killed and crash into buildings or the streets below.

For the Guardsman below, they would see that their weapons were having no effect on the shields. Some soldiers armed with grenade launchers would step in and begin chucking grenades at the enemy fortification. Heavy weapon teams lugging around Las-cannons, would set up behind reinforced positions and take a well placed shot at the soldiers behind the shield, these las-cannons fired shots of coherent light, designed to destroy tanks or other armored opponents.

Meanwhile behind his lines, Cain would noticed Morganovicz the mercanary the Imperium had hired to improve Imperium and Commonwealth relationships. "Straight to the point. Alright here is whats going on, the enemy soldiers seem to posses incredibly strong shields meaning anti-tank weapons or flanking them to the side would be the most appropriate way to take them out. Right now enemy ships from orbit have made planet fall and we have located one such ship landing in this city. You will be tasked to advanced with the regiment and eliminate all enemy soldiers and structures you find along the way. You may work along or along with one of the elite forces and breach this ship, destroying it would be dangerous so I want you and like everyone else her to breach the ship, eliminate all personal on board, and destroy all essential systems allowing it to function. That is the briefing, so good luck out there." the Commissar would nod in the direction of Morganovicz and continue behind the forces of tanks.

#, as written by Saarai
Several wormholes opened high up in the sky directly above the city, each glowing and swirling with orange energy. Crackling with artificial lightning. They were distracting to say the least, even more distracting were the ships that left them. They seemed to vary in size, dozens of them were extremely large and cast a shadow over the city.

There was a smaller ship making it's descent on the city fast, only slowing once it neared a tall building to land atop it. It wasn't there to join the fight, but it was clearly dropping off those that would.

About a dozen Invictus soldiers donning orange armor stepped off of the transport ship, another dozen followed. The second group were dressed much more flamboyantly, they gave off a very obvious magical vibe. Who else would come to a war zone dressed like Liberace?

Mages and wizards always needed to be the center of attention.

The soldiers escorting them were heavily armed, bringing the physical aspect to help enhance the magical.

"Get me eyes on the street." The leader of the squad ordered. She was a dark-skinned woman with ambiguous features and an accent that didn't sound exactly native to Terra.

"Roger that." The pilot responded, taking the ship back up into the sky to circle the small battlefield and provide some of information about what was happening.

Morganovicz Skeel, a man of great military significance to the Commonwealth. His past experience in warfare had quickly allowed him to become renown throughout the Shaki'lyu nations, holding the nickname of 'One Man Army' mainly due to his abilities in battle along with his past achievements of turning the tides of war even when heavily outnumbered. Although this man was born as an irregular of Skeel nobility, his efforts have been quickly noticed by the High Emperor Weilacca Vladaminsky III, bringing him into the triarchy as a royal guard while also heightening the relationships between the Skeel and Vladaminsky nations. Of course, this past hardly effects his life at present, except for his highly confidential grants of the Vladaminsky military...

A small nod of acceptance was given towards the Commisar once orders have been given, allowing Morganivicz to head off to complete them alongside the elites of the Imperium, assuming leadership of the small group as they made their way through the battlefield towards the defensive line of shields set up by the invaders. It was safe to assume the great defensive power of these strange shields as they resisted high powered projectiles with no more than a scratch on the surface. Then again, the scratch may just be the removal of decorative paint. Of course, something of such great defensive prowess holds the weaknesses of the user, and the volley of grenade launches fired may break the line. However, they may not do the job efficiently, a good way is to break a gap into this impressive shell of shields to bring more damage to the soldiers held inside.

And so, Morganovicz reached the conclusion of summoning his Sa'ooayna affinity of air, the unique ability of the Skeel sub-species. Using his technique of casting, Morganovicz impaled his halberd into the ground, freeing both hands as he assumed a crouching position. At the same time, the Shaki'lyu's hands smoothly moved through the air, waving around from in front to behind, drawing the surrounding air into his hands in concentrations which became visible. The next movements were faster than the normal eye could pick up, pushing the hands forwards as extremely high velocity jets of air were fired directly at the shields, aiming for the left and right sides of the line before a second volley was fired at the middle. The aim was to push the soldiers backwards into their peers, breaking a gap into this shell for the fired grenades to come into direct contact with; drastically increasing the damage made to their enemies.

Once the volley was complete, Morganovicz reclaimed his halberd in both hands, nodding his head towards the hopefully broken defensive unit before confirming his orders to the elites. "Let's make this a close quarters combat situation, don't let any of them escape and take prisoners if possible."

The Shields would have held strong against even the weapons of an capital ship bombardment, yet the force of wind blew down upon the guard and several warriors lost their footing. As they did so their shields opened to allow the smallest of openings, yet it was enough as the grenades sailed within and detonated, blowing the formation wide open. As the grenades continued to fall upon them the force was scattered, and those that did not die from that attack began a suicide charge upon their enemy, hoping to slaughter as many as they could before they themselves fell.
The bodies that lay upon the ground covered in the golden army of the warriors began to ignite one after the other, and as the corpses burned away their essence was returned to the soulstone for regeneration.

Above on the rooftops, several archers began firing explosive arrows into the midst of the enemies ranks. These arrows crackled with red energy before igniting into a napalm explosion that would attach an everburning flame to all within it's reach.

As the enemy formation broke, every last Imperium soldier kept on gunning. Since their flanks were exposed the elites or guardsman carrying special weapons would easily take them down. However the archers on the rooftops began to fire off arrows into the guardsman ranks, each arrow causing small groups of guardsman to turn into bits of flesh or setting them on fire.

Once the archers revealed themselves, remaining gunships trying their best not to engage the new army would swoop down for another pass and begin hammering the building with both missile fire and gunfire. Imperial soldiers on the ground would also begin to fire at their positions.

The team with Morganovicz began to fix power bayonets to their hell-guns. If he wanted them to participate in close quarters fighting they would follow suite. They nodded in affirmation to his orders and prepared to follow him into the enemy lines.

Once Cain was in the front lines along the armored force, he would notice the bodies of the soldiers ignite and burn away. He was not sure what was happening however he already composed a theory since something about how they vanished seemed familiar. "Jurgen take notes here, remember the time we face those necrons? Well it appears the enemy might either be burning away their dead so the enemy cannot take their equipment or more logically, they might be bringing the dead back to revive them like the eldar do with their dead. This is all just a hypothisis however we cannot dismiss this possibility." The Commisar would speak as he aimed his las-pistol at one of the archers on the rooftop just a mile away from him, he would then take a shot at the archers head with deadly accuracy to show his men that he too can fight.
