Here he is seen in full armor, however, he often travels in simple clothing, covered by a cloak. His eyes are often described as those of a hawk's and his sharp features only add to his predatory look.

Personality

Crassus is not a man who socializes. He feels no need to "connect"with others, nor is he a man who enjoys being around people. Crassus is solely focused on finding an equal in swordsmanship. Perhaps if he were sane, this pursuit may not be an all together immoral one. However he is indeed insane, and relishes in the act of killing with his blade. His insanity is hidden by his cleverness, however in the heat of battle it comes out, displaying its self through him as he laughs in pleasure during battle. He is tough to take down because of this, ignoring wounds when physically possible so that the fight, and thus the enjoyment of it, may continue.

He is by no means a kind, gentle or caring person. He is evil.

Equipment

His roman gladius, along with a roman pugio or dagger. He often wears his roman infantry armor. Though it is worn and torn in many places, he has done a more than capable job of caring and repairing it. He often covers all this with a long gray cloak.

History

Crassus served in the Roman army for all of his younger years. Always trying to prove himself, he trained relentlessly and had a natural talent with the blade. During the siege of Carthage, his prowess was finally realized. In one of the most bloody battles of Roman history, he proved to be a pivotal factor. Romans who saw him in the battle claimed he could kill five men in as many seconds, that he was an unstoppable force on the battle field. From then on he only rose in the eyes of Rome. He was given so many nicknames (the Whirlwind, the Legion, the Destroyer, ect.) that many now simply call him "Crassus the Killer".

He eventually grew tired of a military life, he ached for another great battle like Carthage but found the slaying countless "no-names" below him. He eventually sought an equal foe among his fellows, killing countless others that had been deemed masters by the Romans. This was not received well and he was banished from Rome. He now travels, taking on bounty hunting jobs in hopes of finding a match, or simply for the enjoyment of killing.

So begins...

Crassus Valiar wanders the snow covered streets of the town quite leisurely. He had been following his target for days, and they knew it. He enjoyed watching them as they panicked, their attempts to shake him off their trail becoming more and more sloppy. The fool had run to this city, hoping for refuge. Crassus had entered the city just a few hours ago, behind them by a day or so. Unfortunately for them, the city was no more than a different battle ground to Crassus, for their was no where to hide form this ruthless bounty hunter. He didn't mind giving them a false sense of hope however, it simply made the look on their face more enjoyable when he found them. He had guesses as to where they were hiding within the city, and he was currently heading to the top among that list. Gambits Bar, a splotch on this Earth that whatever Gods ruled over it had forgotten to erase, or had yet to. He opened the door to the bar, his gray cloak hiding his armor and sword from the naked eye.

Crassus Valiar swept his hawk like eyes over the occupants of the bar. Hmmmm... the target wasn't here yet. Judging from their former habits and those of previous targets who ran to this city, they were likely to come here soon. Crassus walked over to the counter top, his cloak twisting oddly around the sword on his belt as he did so. Once he reached it he placed a hand upon the table and ordered a drink, then sat on one of the many stools there.

The door to the bar slides open revealing a tall hooded man. He was wearing a ray cloak that fell past his knees, revealing his heavy boots. As the door shut behind him, closing off the chilling winds with it, the man pulled the hood of his cloak. This revealed a face with hawk-like features, the lines of his face where sharp, his brown hair cut short, and most of all, his brown eyes peered around the room with a hawk's piercing vision. Crassus walked over to the bar and sat at a stool. He wasn't he for pleasure, he never was, he was here looking for a target. Crassus had recently been paid to eliminate a certain individual, and he had heard that they were in this bar. He kept his wits about him as he ordered a drink.

Crassus Valiar gripped the mug the barkeep laid before him. It held a deep red liquid, wine, watered down as Crassus requested. Now that he had his drink Crassus reviewed the details of the job in his head. He received an anonymous request for a meeting some weeks ago. At the meeting it became apparent who the employer was, the United States government, more specifically, the CIA. Why they would hire an outsider like him, he had no idea, but they had. The job was to kill a Russian spy that had apparently been giving them trouble ever since the Cold War, one Ivan Stalin. Crassus pulled a photo from an inner pocket and inspected it. It showed a dark haired male with blue eyes, he was wearing the typical Russian fur hat with the sickle and hammer upon it. Crassus had endured an entire CIA breifing on the man; his appearance, habits, frequented locales, and the like. All this preparation made Crassus sick, all they had to do was let him loose and he'd kill the guy. No need for all that crap.

Crassus Valiar looked round the bar discreetly, hoping to find his target, Ivan Stalin. The man shouldn't be to hard to find, they mentioned that he almost always wore his countries colors, and Russian didn't exactly bled into this environment. As easily found as he expected, there was Ivan, and not to far from Crassus either. He appeared very weak... perhaps this would be easier than he thought. Still, always be cautious. Crassus eyed Ivan intently, hoping to get the man's attention. Some conversation may bring light upon how serious the man's injuries were, or any other weaknesses.

Crassus Valiar narrowed his hawk-like eyes at the man. Something was wrong, he could feel it. The feeling was like an instinct, that of a predator watching it's prey. The prey had begun to show signs of fleeing, and thus the hunter tensed. He had nothing to prove his suspicions, but the swordsman had long ago abandoned any thought of ignoring his instincts. Crassus felt certain as the man glared at him however. Aparently the man was not going to be fooled, as expected from any spy, he supposed. Crassus stood and walked briskly over to the man and the woman near him. As he walked, his cloak twisted oddly around the sword on his belt. He stood just two arm lengths from the pair, the reach of his blade, and spoke. "Ivan." He acknowledged.

Crassus Valiar smiled at the man's reply. His smile was wolfish, lacking any of the usual mirth that such a thing contained. Perhaps it would be better described as a predator showing his teeth. "That would be unpleasant indeed." He said, looking briefly over at the girl. "Why don't you just come quietly then, and I wont have to be the fourth 'killer' today. They said I could bring you in alive, and although I would detest the idea normally, the pay would be better." Crassus assumed the man could guess who 'they' were. He shrugged his shoulders, the moving of metal armor apparent beneath his cloak, and said, "Or I can become killer number four. And you can become victim number... ah well. I've lost count."

Crassus Valiar turned to Drakus, a blank stare on his face. He adjusted his stance ever so slightly, moving to prepare for a possible third threat. The movement would go likely unnoticed by those unfamiliar with advanced swordplay.

Crassus Valiar smiled again in acknowledgment of this man's apparent prowess. "And I've no interest in yours. You should now that a good swordsman is always prepared however, thus do not take my adjustment as an insult." He stared down at the wounded man on the floor and the girl beside him. "I've no interest in the girl, but I am here to kill that man." He said blandly. Crassus watched as the Russian stumbled about, obviously severely injured. Even so, Crassus said, "We shant leave until you are bound proper. If you would please lie flat on your stomach." His smile, if it could be caled that, was gone. He hated a job with no fighting.

Crassus Valiar nodded to Drakus as he left, the gesture containing a very slight amount of respect. He then turned, adjusting his stance once again, and spoke to Ceras. "He will not be flying with you girl. You will not be coming. I am more than capable of delivering him to the CIA." He glared coldly at the girl as Ivan spoke to her then said. "I'm afraid we can't have that. I'll have to ask you to leave miss... now." He turned to Ivan and spoke in a harsher tone, "And you. drop the pen and place your hands behind your back." Crassus had yet to unsheathe his blade, he hadn't even let it be seen yet. He need both hands to tie the man up, so he waited for now.

Crassus Valiar snarled at the girl, "There you have it. He isn't going to be killed girl, at least not by me. Take his things and leave before I am forced to kill you." Crassus waited for the girl to step aside, his patience wearing thin due to the dull events of the night.

Crassus Valiar waited till she was far enough away, and then he approached the man, making sure to be on the opposite side of the girl, his hawk-like eyes glancing up to watch her every now and again. Crassus gripped the man's arms tightly in one hand and took out a length of rope from one of his inner pockets with the other. He then tied Ivan's arms tightly, a bit tighter than was necessary really, the rope biting into the mans arms. He then parted his cloak, revealing the blade on his belt, and drew it. Stepping an arms-length and a half from Ivan, he said, "Now go, out the door."

Crassus Valiar followed the man closely, ever vigilant, his eyes darting back to the girl if he saw her moving in his peripheral vision. "There's a cart just down the street, get in it and shut up. We'll be meeting your captors not far from here."

Crassus Valiar mounts a horse stabled near the bar. As Ivan jumps into the cart Crassus nods at the cart driver, an old man who he had paid earlier for such a thing as this. Crassus rode behind the Cart, keeping a watchful eye upon Ivan. However, with Ivan's back hidden from view, he was unable to see any cutting of the rope. Still, Crassus stayed vigilant as always, riding with one hand upon the reigns as the other held his sword out and ready at his side. Having served in the army, he was very familiar with sword fighting on horse back.

Crassus Valiar spoke simply, "My instructions were to get into the cart and to shut up." He left it at that, riding behind the cart as it moved upon the street. Their pace was generally slow, but the meeting point was within the city, so it shouldn't be too long till they get there. The old man driving the cart was following a hand drawn map that Crassus had given him, this would lead to the meeting. Crassus sighed as rode the horse, he would likely kill the old man when they arrived. It wasn't so much that he would be aware of the meeting point, it was more that Crassus was simply craving to do so.

Crassus Valiar rode along uneventfully, watching the spy with suspicion. He assumed that the man would try to escape, but so far, nothing. Some time went by in agonizing boredom. Crassus grew annoyed at the lack of resistance, and glared at Ivan. It was then that he caught a faint scent of burning wood. His eyes widened and he the slightest flicker of a bright light behind Ivan. He shouted to halt the cart, but it was too late. The laser cut through the wood, the cart tilting and then falling over completely onto its side. The horses made quite a commotion and the old man appeared to be injured. Many on lookers rushed in to help but Crassus suddenly boomed with laughter, "That's more like it!" He yelled, the on lookers now hesitant to come to close.

Crassus Valiar smiled wolfishly down at Ivan, his eyes wide in amusement. Crassus slipped down from his horse, his boots landing upon the cobblestone of the street. He stalked his way over to the crawling Ivan, his teeth showing the entire time, his sword in hand at his side. Walking through the havoc that now ensued on the street, Crassus never took his eyes from Ivan. Looking at him during this, it was easy to see his insanity. As he approached Ivan, citizens began running over to help the old man in front of him. One stood in Crassus' way, tending to the old man, as Crassus walked. He simply raised his weapon and sliced down at the woman who was in his way, splitting her side open as she then fell to the ground. People began screaming and running away. Crassus closed his eyes a moment, taking in the sounds. He looked back down at Ivan and said, "I was hoping you would resist Ivan, I do hate peaceful endings."

Crassus Valiar moved his blade with the grace of a master. It appeared that he did little more than flick the blade in a tiny motion, but the knife that was fired at him suddenly flew off in a different direction, deflected. The laser came as a surprise however, catching Crassus in one of his eyes. He cursed and sprinted forward, tumbling to prevent the laser from staying on any part of his body for too long. He regained posture next to Ivan and brought his blade down at the man vertically, intending to impale his stomach.

Crassus Valiar lifted him self strait up, staring down at the man, narrowing his gaze. He darted his eyes to look up at the dragon on the building above him, then back down to the wound on Ivan. He tisked his teeth before sheathing his sword and fleeing back to his horse, jumping onto it in one fluid motion. He began to turn his horse around, but he remained facing Ivan and Ceras's direction. "If that wound doesn't kill you, then you'll have earned a second meeting with me." He said to Ivan, his experience telling him that the wound he inflicted was not a fatal one. However, with how weak Ivan already was, he may die from the extra wound, but Crassus had no intention of staying around to find out. Not with a dragon looming above. "If that day comes, Ivan of Russia, know me not as the fourth, but as Crassus of Rome." With that, he whipped the horse with the reigns, sending it into a gallop down the city streets and far from the two.

Crassus Valiar pushed through the cold, bitter winds of the inner city. There were very few people still about the roads this night, due to the cold most likely, or so Crassus thought. He gripped the hood of his gray cloak, keeping the wind from blowing it form his head. Up ahead of him was Gambit's Bar, a haven to many of the strangest inhabitants of this city. More to the point, a haven for the kind of people Crassus hunted. Crassus found himself coming here more and mroe often, the bounties he was chasing always running to this establishment. This time was no different, he had athered information that his target frequented this bar. Aside from that familiarity, the job he was on now was very dissimilar from others he had taken. Prime among the dissimilarities was that this job was from the church. They had hired him of all people, just a week or so ago, to eliminate a lost paladin, or some such. The guy apparently had switched sides, and if they hired Crassus, that meant that the church must be desperate.
