Cypher-618

a deep space repair droid with Artificial Intelligence

0 · 337 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Cyprus Valgardd

Description

Cypher-618 is a brushed chrome colored humanoid deep space repair droid who's has AI (it's voice sounds like Guilty Spark from halo 3). it has a hidden blaster in its left wrist and a fusion cutter/welder in it's right hand. a fission cell jet pack. mounted on it's back and two hooked climbing claws coming out of each foot for latching onto objects on the outside of ships and buildings to repair. Cypher is also known to carry a fusion cell rifle with a scope.

Cypher-618 was created on an unknown planet off in a distant part of the galaxy. he moves with traders as a maintenance and repair droid. not much is known about him...

So begins...

Cypher-618 clanked into the establishment, bits beaten and bent. cracked and broken. the brushed chrome droid needed repairs in more than a hundred diferent places. It's left arm was dejointed and it's foot was bent at a crooked angle which it dragged. It was a saddening sight. You could almost see the pairn in the droid's single blue eye which filled it's entire face. "Help me!" Cypher cried, (think of it's voice like guilty spark's from halo 3 but with a little more instability). It's eye began to dim as it started to shut down in order to save it's Artificial Intelligence. The droid took one more step, reached out a mangled arm, then collapsed onto the ground with a metal clang.

Before he could get an answer form the young woman, Verror's attention was drawn away from the conversation and towards the front door, where what appeared to be someone made of metal with one eye stumbled into the room.

Verror left the other three to their conversation to see what was going on, but after a cry for help, the stranger had already collapsed. Rushing over to them, he saw more injuries than he could count, although they didn't seem human, so it was difficult to tell how serious it was. The again, considering they'd just passed out from it, it was probably quite bad.

"This doesn't look good...Does anyone know how to help this guy?" he called out, to anyone in the bar who might hear or notice.

It was with great displeasure that The Gentleman turned his attention to the mess that suddenly caused a scene within the tavern. Surely if had some kind of program or self repairing metal to fix itself right up or at the very least a bit of intelligence as Gambit's Bar was a poor choice to break down in.

"I can help." The Gentleman begrudgingly spoke up as he stood from his seat at the bar counter and turned to look at the wreckage and the attention it had drawn to itself. Douglas Weskit sauntered over to the machine but did not kneel down to assist the poor mechanized man. "However my services are not free and judging from what I can tell this machine will not last long without the proper tools or skills required to fix it." The Gentleman glanced over to Verror who seemed to be the most concerned patron thus far only to shake his head at the young man.

"I think you have done well enough at this point but unless you know how to fix this machine I suggest you take a step back." Douglas smirked like the devil himself only to pull up a chair next to the mangled mess of machinery and wait to see what the others in the establishment would do or ask.

Drek'thul a large humanoid wolf creature who was in the back of the bar sipping a dark ale watched the commotion in the front. Now this was entertainment he thought as he gulped down the last of his drink. he placed down a few gold coins to pay for the drink and hefted his bulk out of the booth. now it's time to go see what this commotion is. at a little over seven feet tall he towered over most occupants in the room. he looked down at the little droid thing. "I never understood how to work those things. i'm more of a sword lover myself, i mean i do carry a cannon of my own but i really don't use it." he said in a gravel tone. he then grabbed a pouch filled with various forms of currency and threw it down by the busted droid. "That bag of currency will go to whoever is willing to repair it. And if any of you get the idea to run off with it..." he hefted a large sword which slightly glowed. well, this is where the fun begins. he thought cheerfully, then circled around the room toward the door in case if someone tries to bolt with the cash.

The android, upon finishing another tune, slipped his ukulele back into it's case. He stood up from his table a decent distance away to get a better look at the commotion. The other droid seemed heavily damage, but it looked to be no worse than anything the hardened veteran had been through in the past. The android's tall, slim form stepped around the table to assist the Gentleman. Currently, he did not wear his extra armour plating. Instead, his diamond-shaped plate exoskeleton was mostly covered by a white vest and matching pants. Apparently the android developed a fashion sense sometime in the past.

He spotted the bag of cash left by the large... whatever it was. "No no," Jakob said, annoyed, and oblivious to the intention of the currency. "Those are not tools. Here, I got some." Some of the diamond-shaped plates all over the exoskeleton of his left arm shifted to reveal the interior mechanisms. From the hole, he produced a well-used set of tools. Jakob took a position directly across the table from the Gentleman who sat in a chair.

To the damaged unit, Jakob asked in a professional drawl, "Are you still able to communicate? Please relay your self-diagnosis." Any machine made in this day and age should be able to have some form of self-diagnosis system built-in. More importantly, in any machine, there were always systems that needed to be repaired before any other.

Livian jumped as the damaged machine staggered into the tavern with uneven sounds coming from him. Livian turned around to the opened door to see the beaten up sentient machine come in, scream for help before crashing onto the floor. Just as he was getting his food too. No matter, he abandoned it for now and rushed over. He was tall and lithe, standing at 7'1 foot. He went over and looked down at the single blue eye for a moment before he slowly lowered himself down at the strange mechanical being's head. He couldn't help but he put his hand out as he sat on his feet by the being and began to pet the mechanical being's head.

Looking at everyone, especially The gentleman, Douglas Weskit as he said he would help but not without pay. Livian frowned at him as he petted the machine's head before he went into his satchel still around his shoulder and took out a pouch of gold before turning back to the being and continued to try and seemingly comfort it even if it was not active as of now. When Jakob came over next, Livian looked at him for a long moment as he literally procured tools from his person then smiled at him, waving one of his slender hands at him. Livian was a small looking thing... His peculiar looks, his seemingly natural sea blue coloured hair could be confirmed by his brows and lashes. His blue eyes were so pale they made him appear blind but he was not. He never spoke, light scars on his lips perhaps raising questions. He looked back at the drone, one of his eyes covered with his hair and he covered it some what with his scarf... He was well aware he was not useful in this situation but he didn't want to be heartless and ignore the poor thing... So he stayed to be a friend to it for the mean time, sweet.

"That...that just brings the word 'mercenary' to a whole new level." Verror said disapprovingly to the stranger with the umbrella who was pulling up a chair to inspect the android.

He was just trying to find whatever currency he had on him when another person approached. For a second, Verror would have sworn it was another beserker, but then realized that the chances were they were probably not even human to begin with, let alone one from his world. The wolf-person dropped a bag of cash and threatened anyone who tried to run away with it. Also, a young man, with blue hair of all things, walked over to comfort the damaged android, also offering money to pay. Verror took a small pouch, emptied as much money as he could into it (while trying not to think about what he was going t do about food and shelter) and tossed it to where the other money was, for whoever could fix the guy.

the situation seemed to be getting only more confusing, but then the man he had spoken to briefly before came over to inspect the android. To Verror's relief, he revealed a set of tools.

Verror took a few steps back, waiting in case help was needed with any small tasks.

Douglas Weskit smiled as several patrons paid to see the droid fixed and even more so when Jakob came over and produced a set of tools from his own mechanical body. As for the patrons and their comments on the situation Douglas simply shut them out for now and took up a position opposite of the mechanical man.

"I am happy to know I would not need to get as dirty as I thought I would." The Gent offered his response rather quickly while removing his jacket and laying it across the back of the chair he had occupied. "If you deal with the more technical issues that the droid has I will replace and repair what will pose certain problems to its design." The Gentleman's hands began to glow as he took up the fallen machines robotic arm and began to duel channel the spell known as mend and fabricate as to replace the damaged portions with stronger fabrications while simultaneously improving the design to be stronger. Douglas had every intention of replacing the droids composite material with something stronger.

As the spell worked through the silent machinery Douglas turned his attention to the group who had disapproved of his actions only to shake his head a bit as he continued to work. "You people have no sense of tact about you. To feel for something without prior knowledge of what it is can be very dangerous. The last time I visited this bar I witnessed a man kill a shapeshifting vampire who wanted to devour the entire bar." Douglas paused for a second as he glanced at both Livian and Verror. "You know sadly he was the hero of this story but the entire patronage treated him like an outcast for saving their lives as the vampire shifted into a large hydra just outside of these walls. Just came back in with the things head severed and all the other preparations that are required to deal with such a pest. He was called a monster for what he did....the nerve, honestly now." Douglas grimaced slightly as he waited to see if the droid could respond to Jakob but then brought his attention to the large warrior who threatened to harm anyone who ran off with his form of payment.

"I am happy to say that the man I am working with now and you are the only ones who might understand how the realms truly work." The Gent grimly chuckled as he looked over Drek'thul "Once this is all over would you be willing to act as a hired sword? I am always looking for capable hands to act when and where I cannot."

Cypher's eye turned yellow as he switched on and began to run a diagnostic on himself then the light dimmed and turned blue. he then noticed he was on the floor. "oh dear, i must of fell. my power must be low from after..." the droid thought about it and something literally sparked in his head. "this is strange l cannot remember..." then he noticed all the people around him. "oh my i forgot my manners. I am Cypher-618, a deep space recon and repair droid. at your service." the droid giggled randomly. "oh it's so nice to see another living face. it's been 2,451 days since i saw another living being. why i cannot remember, for my memory unit must be compromised."

The man with the verbose speech said things that Jakob deemed irrelevant for the task at hand. Though Jakob understood the importance of currency, he already had enough to last him until his next bounty. He felt no need to garner any more than he needed.

The man in the suit seemed to be using some sort of reality-warping powers to strengthen the molecular bonds between the metal that formed the cables, hydraulics, and the plating. A very useful skill, Jakob noted, but he doubted that would be any effective for the more subtle arts of restoring a hard drive. Even the most precise of human hands cannot compare to the required precision a machine can offer.

The unit, after running it’s diagnostic, did not seem to remember, which meant a problem with the memory unit- as it kindly pointed out. The android knew that would be a priority. “Pardon me,” Jakob told Cypher as he lifted the unit’s head to examine closely. Within moments, he found the access port to the memory unit. The memory unit itself did not seem to be running, but the casing did appear cracked. Though a casing crack technically did not indicate any problems with the circuitry within, Cypher did mention he was a deep space recon drone. Exposure to the extreme conditions of space would make that casing crack something to panic at.

After placing two armoured fingers on the two handles, he said, “I will need to remove your memory unit to conduct diagnosis and repairs. If you have a Safe Mode, initiate it please.”

Cypher sat up, which took him a minute just after being completely repaired. "i do not think the creator installed a safety mode into my software, but i am sure i can manage a minor repair after all i been through. but i know my circuitry better than you most likely so if you don't mind.." he said with a cheery tone. then removed the unit from his head ran a diagnostic of what needed to be repaired then opened his hand where what looked to be omnisensors built into the pads with little ports. small beams emitted from the ports and joined together (think of the beam from the death star) into an omnitorch which he then used to cut apart the unit fuse together a few circuits then welded the casing back together without a seam, then reattached the unit to his head. he then noticed people staring. "an omnitorch, one of my many useful tools along with a fission blaster, climbing hooks in my feet and an electric jet pack which runs off my nuclear (cant spell that word for some reason) battery." (ill be off-site for the entire weekend guys but ill be back on on Monday to continue this, just an FYI)

Douglas knew his job was completed and simply took half of what payment was laying out. The Gentleman left his business card for the droid to look over and simply waved at the patrons present that he was finished.

"Pardon me." Douglas offered before taking up his umbrella and glancing at Sakura "I would hope that you are not starting a fight within this establishment. You never know who will turn out to be friend or foe." The Gent smiled at her and then looked over to the wolf Drek'thul and Jakob. "Wonderful. Would either of you care for a drink on the house?"

Livian blinked, smiling and backing off as Cypher sat up and proceeded to apologize for being rude, he was rather friendly, had a warm personality even. Livian waved to the drone before slowly standing up to his surprising height as Cyber spoke to the others then informed one person in particular about his memory unit then showed himself fixing it then reinstalling it. Which by all accounts was very impressive. Having some understanding of what was going on but he would never be able to do such things himself.

He looked up however to The Gentleman as he told him and another customer a story about a hero that in the end was seen as a murderer and shamed for protecting the same people in the bar for defending them against a vampiric creature. It was a sad story indeed and he smiled in a sympathetic manner before he went into his satchel and brought out a pen and a notepad and started to write in cursive font then show Douglas Weskit what was on it. 'Were you friends with this man? The man that helped everyone in the bar all that time ago? Or did you just observe what happened?' Livian generally looked curious, his eyes though unusually pale and seemingly wise looking yet all the while... innocent and naive. It was evident in them that he was curious, even in his youthful face as he held his note pad up until The Gentleman read it.

When Douglas started to talk to everyone else, he became a bit shy, holding one of his arms as he stood there and eventually put his notepad down. He never wanted to intrude on others and his inability to talk the traditional route was... a social barrier which was never his choosing to have. He smiled at the other and bowed even before he walked off back to his booth, leaving the coin behind then set his satchel aside. He kept his notepad out with a fountain pen he had used to write with before hand on the table, taking his scarf off, around his neck was scars, some light, some deep looking, almost painful to look at. The scars on his neck were not caused from a blade by by binds, rope or chains tightly wrapped around it... He slowly took a hold of his glass of water on his table and took a sip before tilting his head back and rubbing his throat so it would help him swallow without choking. Once that was done, he straightened his head again and started to pick at his brie and grape panini he had ordered previously and was just brought over before the drone came in, all in a bad way as he was. Now he could eat, he was starting after all. But he was not against having some company if anyone was willing to converse with him and his... unusual way of communicating back to them, via note pad and pen.

Verror was relieved to see the stranger now OK. His attention was otherwise turned to two of the patrons in particular. The large wolf-like person and the young woman with the peculiar ears, who had asked the former something about shifters, even going as far as drawing her weapons. That didn't look good...The man who'd used what looked like some kind of magic to heal the android had also mentioned an evil shapeshifter.

"Wait," he asked, mostly to the Gentleman, the Kitsune, and also the Wolf-guy, "What's this about 'shifters'? Are they considered a problem here? People not, er...overly fond of them, or something?" If so, he certainly wasn't planning on getting caught out.

"Oh, and, not fighting right now is an idea I can also get behind." he added, raising his hands tentatively and gesturing to the woman's drawn weapons. Flaming swords did not send a very friendly message.

Douglas Weskit admired the musical complement to the now estranged background known as Gambit's Bar. He placed in an order for several drinks of a variety along with another batch of tea for himself only to shake his head at what Verror had asked.

"I am sorry to inform you that I am not well informed on the subject like some are but I personally do not see an issue with these so called shifters or whatever they might be called." Douglas took another sip of his tea only to turn to Verror as so that he could get a better look at the young man. "I will say this though. Wisdom should be derived from all things even if they do appear strange to others." It was only then that Douglas realized how rude he was to the young man who he nearly forgot and the questioning ukulele enthusiast.

"Ah yes, now right, Young man would you come here? I believe you had something to show me and I doubt you would wish to eat a meal alone? Company is dreadfully better than solitude I'm afraid." Douglas waved the young Livian over and then turned his attention back to the man with the questions. "Actually I do have access to such technology through the company I work under. However, I am sorry to say what you saw was not what it appeared, it was magic of a finer variety as I am a practicing wizard. My card." Douglas set his tea down and produced from his sleeve a Mars Corp. card with his name placed under several lines of standard information.

Drek'thul looked at the droid. then at the person who was asking about 'shifters', "I know nothing about shifters. I'm just muscle for hire." he then sheaths the large curved sword. "I'm good at what i do. but i'm not cheep. usually because things get messy. real messy." Drek'thul then let out a deep sigh which sounded more like a snorting sneeze. "im open for a job at this current moment. if anyone has one". he then looked at the droid, "Cypher. how good are you at hacking and/or combat?" he said with a wolfish grin.

Verror looked suspiciously at the gentleman, who seemed to have gone from taking money for helping people to handing out philosophical advice. "Er...Yes, thanks, I will keep that in mind."

He then looked at the large wolf-like person who was speaking to him about his job. "Er...yes," he grimaced, "I imagine it would get messy. That's why I usually go for guarding or escorting jobs, stuff like that."

Thinking about what the other man had said again, he realized he probably ought to read up on this place so he knew a little more about what was going on. maybe there was a library somewhere in the city...

Verror listened as the woman explained she was a kitsune. Then he realized what she had meant before.

"Oh, now I get it. Sorry, I completely misunderstood what you were saying before. I don't think I've met any fox-shifters before. I've only really met beserkers in my home world and, well, foxes don't tend to attack people very often so they tend to shift into more vicious creatures like, er...wolves and stuff. No offense." he added, gesturing toward Drek'thul.

"But if you were just looking for others like you, why did you draw your weapon? I thought you might be some kind of anti-shifter hunter or...something."

Drek'thul noted the scene and the small fox-person thing, who was talking about shifters with two other people. he sat down on a bar stool, which under his weight, creaked and threatened to collapse under his mighty frame. "I remember meetin' a shifter once." he let out a small chuckle, "the damned thing nearly took me by surprise. They remind me of my feral relatives back..." he stopped as he remembered that his home planet was completely destroyed. "look at me." he whispered almost to himself, "I'm the last of my kind who where kidnaped from my home and forced out into the galaxy. my home was razed to the ground and here i am. alone." he then looked down at an amulet he kept wrapped around his right wist. it glowed slightly and warm to the touch.

Livian was in the middle of sipping his mint tea slowly at his table when Douglas Weskit spoke to him. Turning his head over to him he blinked, blushing a bit since he was innately shy even though he was taller than most.. He was lithe but still, his height made him seem like a friendly giant if anything. He tilted his head up and rubbed his neck to help him swallow his tea before he put everything on the tray that came with his food and drink on it. He shouldered his satchel which had his jacket and scarf wrapped around it after putting his fountain pen and notepad onto the tray. He slowly walked over to the same table Douglas sat himself and sat across from him as he spoke to the other patrons of the tavern. He put his tray down slowly and put his satchel to the inside of the booth with his jacket and scarf.

He smiled at Douglas, bowing his head in thanks. His scarred mouth and neck were much more obvious up close. He waved at the man then, his sleeve riding up and showing similar scarring on his wrist which looked the same as the one around his neck. It would not be surprising if he had the same scarring on his other wrist. He then picked his notepad up and wrote more under his other questions before and slipped it to the side of him. His writing was neat and cursive and it said. 'Were you friends with this man? The man that helped everyone in the bar all that time ago? Or did you just observe what happened? Oh, and would you like to have one of my scones?' Since he had two scones and they came with butter, cream and jam. He also had water, his mint tea and panini to eat. He was hungry but he was always inclined to share what he had, even to a stranger. He was one of those nice people with pure, gentle intent. He smiled away at the man before him as he waited for his response. He tapped his foot gently on the floor out of nervousness though.
