Description

Appearance
Alas, tis another tall dark and handsome stranger... minus the part where he is tall. He stands only at 162 cm. As for being dark, it is true that his hair is black, his eyes are black, and his clothes tend to be dark, but his skin is pale. And lastly, handsome is truly in the eye of the beholder. In fact, one could scarcely call Cyrus handsome with his beady dark eyes and having the appearance of a rugged, disreputable sort with high cheek bones, a tapered jaw, and large nose. His build is athletic, but his frame is slight, suggesting that were he to be removed from physical activity, he would waste away to a scrawny stick figure rather than plump out. Since his body language is usually very languid, one has a hard time imagining how he keeps this shape.
Scent
At first one would usually smell some sort of spicy cologne or other form of manufactured scent. But beneath that is a dry, dusty smell. It is very faint, and neither pleasant nor foul. Animals with keen senses get a smell that signals danger. Some animals respond with aggression, some with caution, others with outright submission or fear. Persons with heightened sense of smell would smell an earthy, metallic smell mingled with a difficult to describe smell that tickles the nostrils and tends to cause the follicles (whether they be hair, feather, or scale) on the back of their neck to stand on end.
Temperature
Cyrus has no body temperature. That isn't to say that he is always cold. His body merely adapts to the ambient temperature. This makes it hard to see him with infrared or other forms of thermal detection. The exception, of course, is if he recently fed, in which he becomes momentarily as warm as the average human. Another exception is when changing locations into an area with a dramatically different temperature, he will either be warmer or colder depending on where he was until his body readjusts to the new environment. In this way, one could call him cold blooded. The only difference is that it takes much colder temperatures to slow him down than it would most cold blooded animals.
Demeanor
Despite his rakish appearance, Cyrus comes across as more of a joker than a menace. He exudes immaturity. His body language goes between languid and nonchalant to extremely animated depending on his company. However, there is also something very self-absorbed in his demeanor, and an artless way in which he doesn't seem to care if people notice.
Presence
Despite his non-menacing demeanor, Cyrus can have an unsettling presence to the more sensitive or trained observer. It is not always easy to pin-point what it is about him, but he does exude a slight eeriness. To the less trained observer, he has a very loud presence, and he tends to stick out from the mundane.

Extrasensory Perceptions

Empathy
To the supernatural empath, there is something equally supernatural blocking Cyrus' emotions from being detected.
Telepathy
If Cyrus suspects the presence or meddling of a telepath, he has a fairly good shield against their probing. However with his guard down, he is an open book. His surface thoughts are hedonistic desires and jaded impressions of those around him. Any thought that seems kind or charitable is usually followed by a ulterior motives. And, of course, when hungry, his thoughts are largely encompassed by the overbearing need to feed on blood. Deeper thoughts or memories are scattered snapshots, putting together a larger picture of a man who has done terrible things for his own survival, and whilst may have felt some remorse in the past, has come to peace with the idea of his survival must come at any means necessary. One also gets the impression that he is primarily selfish, conceited, cowardly, and has a tendency to land himself in trouble due to his tendency to talk too much. Cyrus always picks (what he thinks is) the easy fight. Although far from being a pacifist, he doesn't enter into fights needlessly, unless it's for his own survival. Since his survival requires drinking blood, he gets more fights than he truly wants.
Energy
Cyrus has a negative energy about him, and a supernatural aura. He does show some signs of spiritual energy, but it is largely repressed.
Misc
Cyrus is not classified as undead. So anyone who can detect undead would not perceive him as such. He is more of in a state of limbo between alive and dead, his soul essentially Schrodinger's Cat.

Possessions

Bare Necessities
Cyrus doesn't tend to keep much on his person, and doesn't seem to tote around anything of value, sentimental or otherwise. Just his clothes, a small comb, some tissues, a ballpoint pen, and his wallet, which has money and some phony ID.
Money
Cyrus has a wallet that has several modern Earth currencies (Mostly Canadian, American, and Euro) as well as some currency and credit cards from around Terra. Totaled up, his cash doesn't amount to much. His credit is a little more impressive, but not by much.

Assets

Layla Samara
His loyal slave that has served him in excess of a century. Although he turned her, her powers differ somewhat from his own, and she uses them to his advantage.

Powers

Superhuman: Despite his deceptively small frame, Cyrus has superhuman strength, speed, and perception. He can lift almost up to 100 times more weight than the average human (average human, not an athlete, not a body builder, average) and can also withstand a lot more blunt force trauma and pressure. He can move in short bursts of extreme speed, rendering his movements nearly undetectable by the human eye. However, he can not keep up that level of speed for more than thirty seconds. However, he can easily sustain a running speed three times faster than an athletic human. Fine motor movements can also be very quick, making sleight of hand easy for him. Lastly, he has night vision comparable to that of a cat, improved hearing (but not comparable to a cat) and can smell blood from great distances like a shark. His intuition is also fairly acute.
Mesmerize: Cyrus can entrance others for a short amount of time, making them susceptible to suggestion, but it is not straight out control. It is similar to a state of hypnosis, and like hypnosis, he cannot make anyone do anything that they would never do themselves, even when uninhibited. A strong will can break this. This is considered a charm, so those with charm resistance or immunity apply to his mesmerize ability.
Stun Psyche: While Cyrus is not psychic or a telepath, he is able to stun or temporarily mentally inhibit people for about seven seconds. This power is actually more effective on psychics/telepaths and those of a heightened intellect. However, it's not very useful on cognitively challenged individuals, and almost never works on non-sentient organisms. It may or may not work on highly intelligent animals, such as primates, dolphins/whales, pigs, et cetera. It effects anyone who have a sympathetic link (know his true name, holding something of his, have a part of him (blood, hair etc), be in physical contact with him at the time of the stun, holding something in his likeness (picture, ephigee)) with him more direly, and may inflict headaches that last for days after the initial stun.
Play Dead: Cyrus can assume appearance of a corpse. No pulse, no body heat, pallid complexion, and rigid stillness. He can lock his joints to imitate rigor if need be. He can not fake decomposition. While in this state, however, if he is left in water, he will bloat somewhat.
Accelerated Healing: So long as Cyrus isn't depleted of blood, he heals 14 times faster than an average creature. His healing is almost instantaneous while feeding on blood fresh from a living body.

Equipment

Rather than discuss actual equipment, I will specify the weaknesses, strengths, and supernatural abilities, even going over the obvious.

Strengths

  • Does not need to breathe to survive (but certainly needs to breathe to speak)
  • Immune to natural poisons/toxins
  • Resistant to synthetic poisons/toxins
  • Immune to charms and most forms of mind control
  • Resistant to spells, curses and enchantments.

    Weaknesses
    • Combustible when exposed to sunlight. Depending on how recently he fed depends on how much exposure to the sun he can take before bursting into flames. When extremely weakened, even a full moon can cause him to blister.
    • Repelled (but not burnt) by crosses.
    • Cannot enter properly anointed grounds. This counts for ceremonial or ritualistic anointing of any religion.
    • Will power and language competency severely decreases when deprived of blood.
    • Decapitation (or complete removal of the brain), sunlight and fire, and/or complete removal of the heart can kill him (stabbing it isn't enough).
    • Cannot hide or retract his fangs.
    • Unskilled - unable to fully utilize his super strength and speed.

    Abilities
    • Fang Sacs and Special Saliva - Cyrus has fleshy sacs behind his fangs which resembles a viper's venom sac. These secrete a glycoprotein, much like Draculin, that keeps a wound from closing. This prevents clotting and coagulation in the blood of his victim as he drinks it. When he is done, he stops the secretion, and triggers another gland that mixes with his saliva. This component has supernatural healing properties. Thus the wound goes from being kept open to closing and healing at an accelerated rate. However, when weakened, it is more difficult to produce this healing agent.

      Myths
      • Silver burns. Silver does not effect Cyrus more than an average human.
      • Garlic wards off vampires No, this widely used herb does not repel Cyrus.
      • Vampires fear running water Cyrus would only be intimidated by a current stronger than his ability to swim.
      • Holy water will burn and permanently mark Vampires. Holy water does not bind Cyrus or visibly burn like acid, but it does stingl.
      • Vampires can shapeshift. Cyrus cannot transform into bats, mist, a wolf, an owl, or a pool of blood.
      • Werewolves are the enemy! Neither Cyrus nor vampires from his reality have a feud with werewolves. They don't even exist except in literature.
      • Vampire bites are sensual Being bitten by Cyrus is not pleasurable. It hurts as much as being bitten by any animal, except that pain relieving endorphins seem to respond fairly quickly, so the pain is followed by numbing.
      • Being bitten by Vampire turns you into a Vampire. That is not how it works with this Vampire. He has to feed someone his blood after draining theirs to make them into one.
      • Vampires are telepaths or mind readers. Again, not true where Cyrus comes from. Some of them are, but not him. Thank goodness.

History

Cyrus was a survivor of one of the many gypsy purges as a young child, only to be taken in by a dottering scholar from England. His name was changed to Cyrus, reflecting the Persian King, as it was who his father was researching at the time.
Cyrus was crafty but lazy and did not apply himself in his tutilege, much to his adoptive father's chagrin. When Cyrus was a bored, young man of 16 some of the Roma had come to peddle their wares. Xenophobic as they were, they treated him with as much distrust as anyone else, but Cyrus saw them as colourful and interesting, and simply would not leave them be. Finally it became apparent he was one of them, and he ran off with them.
His caravan headed to Greece, where he met a mysterious woman that no word other than 'Goddess' could describe. Finally she lured him away, whereupon he was shut in with another French Admiral, Gabriel. As two opposites, they were created together as vampire 'twins' by the powerful woman, Lysandra.
Instantly the two vampires, learning their way as a new being, were in constant and vicious rivalry with each other - which has lasted to this day.

So begins...

Cyrus Tinker enters into the bar, his posture straight and his gait confident. Despite his unimpressive height, at 162 cm (roughly 5'3"), he moves with all the swagger of a tall hunking man. In all reality, the black clad vampire is somewhat on the wiry side. Cyrus makes his way to the bar counter, standing between the bar stools, leaning forward and setting his elbows upon the polished surface.

Cyrus Tinker is, indeed, quite full of himself. It shows on his face as he curls his lips up into an amused grin. He is in no rush to get the attention of any of the staff, but instead turns at still rehat he is facing away from the bar. His eyes scan the patrons of the bar and the... activities therein. "....Just what have I stepped into this time?" he murmurs to himself.

Cyrus Tinker walks to a table that is close to the bar counter, and sits himself down. Lost in though as he was, he begins to drum his fingers idly on the taple top.

Cyrus Tinker hums as boredome sets in even deeper, festering like an unattended sliver. His elbow rests on the counter, with his cheek squished into the palm of his hand, a bored expression glazing over his pale face. With a roll of his eyes he ceases drumming and sighing and chances another look around. He starts a little seeing some silver... lizard like thing at another table, then quickly regains his composure, returning to nonchalance.

Cyrus Tinker finally places his palms down firmly atop the table and decides to walk over to the popular table of the night, where Vlad, Slapstick, and Terrence have gathered to. His intention was purely curiousity, as it looked like they were all strangers, and yet, brought together. He places his hands into the pockets of his black pants as he stands by them. "....Mind if I join you?"

Cyrus Tinker grins almost literally ear to ear as he takes a seat with the other men. "Of course you don't mind," he says in a cheerful tone. He laces his fingers together and sets them neatly atop the table surface. "My name is Cyrus," he offers in an amiable manner, "...just Cyrus." He pauses a moment hearing Slapstick's comment. "Oh, and here I thought I was in some ill-conceived novel written by a teenage girl."

Cyrus Tinker face drops at listening to Vlad's plight. His eyebrows draw together, and he frowns in what he believes to be a convincing look of sympatyh. "Oooooh, what a horrible HORRIBLE way to be... an entire century alone; happiness to be shared with none. That is such a poor shame." however he can't keep the straight face anymore, and he lets out an undignified snort trying to hold back laughter. He completely ignores Slapstick's claims to alter reality; it's just easier to maintain sanity by doing so. "Listen, happiness depends on you. Not someone else." He continues to chuckle at his own contrite drivel.

Cyrus Tinker tilts his head to the side, watching Vlad. He then offers up a shake of his head holding out his arms with his palms upwards and gives a shrug. He then rests his hands back on the table. He scoots his seat just a little further from Vlad when he starts swinging his sword around. He scoffs. "A sword. How quaint. Keep your sword in its... sheath, will you?"

Cyrus Tinker arches an eyebrow as the scene between Kisa and Ryan, and other interference, continues to drag on. With a hefty sigh he rises to his feet and strolls over to them. "Listen up! I usually don't interfere, but I'm hella bored. So I'm going to say this; let the jackass go. Let him figure out whatever this is all about on his own. If he does something dumb, then maybe it will give him some learning."

Cyrus Tinker eyes Kisa. "You're bleeding." Pointing out the obvious does happen to be one of his many talents that make him such a wonderful and amazing person. Blood is nice, but so is discretion. So he throws up his arms, berrating himself for even considering getting involved in whatever petty problems, like death and revival, these two strangers had. He finds himself an empty booth and plunks himself down with a loud sigh.
