Dalen Artosola

"I don't need a reason to help someone... That's what you said to me once, isn't it? Well that's why I do what I do for them, because I believe that they deserve a hero like you."

The Kingdom of Asylia functions as an empire, though their people find the distinction to be very important. To an Asylian, an Empire is something to be hated and fought against, but a Kingdom is respectable. Noble Even.

Description

Courage is not born, it is found.

Dalen Artosola is a Celesterran from the world Narull, located in the darkness of the void in between galaxies. His species are a unique hybrid of energy based life forms that subsist within physical, silicon structured bodies.

All Celesterrans have darker colored skin, in shades of blue or purple. Their bodies are, for the most part, humanoid in appearance. Facial structures are normal save for antennae that extend from their eyebrows, a seam that runs from their collar bone to their lower lip. Most Celesterrans decorate themselves in a tattoo denoting their clan. Artosolans are decorated in markings depicting clouds, waves, wind and oceans.

Beyond that, Celesterrans true, energy based natures, are betrayed by the glowing light that shines from their eyes.

Dalen is a contradiction in behaviors. On the one hand, he would prefer nothing more than to spend his days laying in the grass looking at the skies. On the other, he is a Guardian, sworn to protect and aid others. This often leads to him undertaking the role of a reluctant hero.

Dispite that however, he never shirks from helping others, a behavior instilled in him by his Mentors example.

The Guardians utilize a powerful set of equipment made to make use of their powerful energies. Armor forged from a crystaline material unique to their world allows them to channel their powers through it, enhancing it's defensive abilities.

Shields that can transform thanks to infusions of their power, from small kite shields, to tower shields, to full on barricades. Swords that shift in length from three foot longswords, to five foot claymores. Extending the handles allows them to wield these as spears.

But the most powerful aspect of the guardians power is their unity. When working together, they are like a blazing star, and no force can overcome their might.

In the depths of space there lay a black hole. This pit of endless void was unlike any other of it's kind in the vastness of the cosmos, for while others were dead and devoid of anything, this one seethed and churned at it's core, as a terrible force, greater than even the massive weight of a collapsing star, pushed against the barrier seperating worlds.

It was with a massive explosion that this force burst free and was set forth through the universe, a meteor of light that shorn through the darkness of the endless universe as it traveled through space.

Many years passed, and the meteor continued to travel across the vastness of space, until it was caught in the orbit of a world called Langara. Now that meteor, brilliantly shining with light, falls down towards the world below, carrying with it secrets and mysteries to be solved and answered.

Far above the worlds sky, a streak of fire fell. A meteor came, flashing brilliantly as it crashed through the atmosphere. As it fell, bits and pieces began to fall away from it.

It's descent would place it falling into the ocean.

She happened to be on the beach of an island when the meteor fell into the ocean. The large wave that it created had her scrambling to climb up a tree to keep dry. Her ocean green eyes were wide as saucers as she looked at the large impact ripple that was on the surface.

The impact on the water shattered the meteor, releasing that which had been sealed within. Dalen, his eyes closed, was still wearing the armor in which he had been sent from his home. He sank, the weight of the armor dragging him down. His story would have ended just as quickly as it had begun, had not other minds been keen on his survival. The life of the world had awakened the spirits of his people, and like burning spectres they grasped him, and dragged him through the water to the beach.

On the beach itself, the water would glow as though lit from below the depths by a shining star, before Dalen was cast by waves onto the sand of the beach.

There he lay, silent and unmoving.

She watched as the glow from the ocean revealed a bipedal creature that appeared human-esque except for the ears. Quickly, she climbed down her tree and landed on the sand with a soft 'thwush'. That same sound could be heard as she hurried over to the humanoid creature, the sand flying around as she dropped to her knees beside him.

Dalen lay silently on his back in the sand. His eyes were closed and his expression was one of sorrow.

His features marked him as something other than human. He shared many similarities, but held many differences. His eyebrows extended well beyond his face into a pair of antennae that curled about his head. His skin was light blue, and marked, where visible, with a single unending tattoo that presumably ran across the whole of his body. A strange ridge like seam ran from the bottom of his lower lip, down his chin, and into the hollow of his throat, and a banded stretch of darker, cartiligonous skin ran from the corner of his jaw up to his temple, on either side of his face, between his eyes and pointed ears.

He was garbed in a brilliantly polished armor of fine make. It consisted of a breastplate covering his chest, with interlocking banded plates covering the remainder of his torso. From the belt flowed a short cape that reached down to his calves, split in the middle all the way up to the middle of his thighs. The same interlocking plates covered his arms and legs, to the gauntlets and greaves that were his boots. Nearby, a shield had become dislodged from him, a sword rested within a sheath set into the shield itself.

He was silent and unmoving, seeming not even to breath, though with his armor, any motion of his chest would be hard to detect.

Hesitantly she placed her fingers to his pulse point. She didn't know what it was that she was supposed to be feeling for. Was this humanoid creature like her? Did he have one heart or multiple hearts? She didn't know, but she was glad when she found something reminiscent of a heartbeat.

Though the water was cold, Dalen's skin was warm, as though the sun had been shining on him all day. His pulse was not strong, but it was not the weak flutter of a dying man.

Slowly, his eyes opened, and when they did it was with a flash of brilliant light, like a pair of newborn stars shining in the cold of space. The soft light of his eyes was slightly blue, and it was not cold but warm, like a seabreeze. His eyes were unfocused at first, and he blinked twice, both times the light of the world dimmed as his eyes closed.

He opened his mouth to try and speak, but coughed and then shuddered in pain as his dry throat convulsed.

Somewhere on the west coast of Caprica...
Ajakis Naval Base, Caprican Provinicial Self Defense Force.

It started as a relatively quiet morning on the west coast of Caprica. There was a cool northern breeze, the birds were chirping, ringing in the new day.

All that came to an abrupt end, as the Ajakis Naval base, the closest naval base to where the meteor had struck was brought on alert.

The sounds of sirensfilled the various Aschen communities lining the coast of Alpheus, people would begin to scramble, People practiced many drills in the past, but this was the first live breach scenario, and while Dalen, and Alexx would likely be oblivious to the response that was being mounted, that didn't change the fact that they would be here very soon.

On the tarmac of the Ajakis naval base, pilots of the Caprican Defense Force's tenth Air Wing were making final preparations for takeoff, the order to scramble had been given, and the base was brought quickly to alert.

Pilots checked their gear, checked their craft, and the trio of A-15 Orca Gunships kicked on their engines with a shrill whine, as a flight of Vipers screeched across the runway, ascending into the skies.

One pilot looked up briefly, a condor VTOL flying overhead, followed by another one, rapid response has already geared up, and were moving towards the last known location where the meteoroid had been tracked to.

"Orca Flight Six, Niner, Niner, cleared for departure... Runway two nine..."

Kicking on the engine, the pilot engaged the throttle, the VTOLS ascending into the air. The air traffic controller cleared them for departure, and with a brief shift of their engines, they darted off in the direction of the Vipers, and the Condors.

The Vipers moved swiftly through the thick ocean air, and they moved with a purpose.

They soared first over a pair of drilling platforms, and within the next ten minutes, they were beginning their recon approach to the island.

"Two Lifesigns... circling around to confirm.." The Pilot radioed.

The pair of fighter jets passed overhead, their engines screaming before they banked hard to the right, swinging back around and moving swiftly for another pass.

On the horizon, more aircraft could be seen.

The sound of approaching aircraft, a forign sound to Dalen, nonetheless forced him to full alertness. He stood, warily, carefully, as his legs were yet unsteady beneath him. His eyes were unfocused and he had trouble seeing around him. Nevertheless he proceeded in the direction he believed the sound to be coming from.

"Hgara ninse tor ban dothu" He said aloud, the words incomprehensible to any beyond his own kin. Indeed they were incomprehensible to anyone in the whole of the universe, as he was a being who came from the void that existed beyond light and creation.

He stumbled in the sand and fell to his knees, his armor pulling him down as he continued to flail about aimlessly.

The pair of Condors circled back around, their engines protesting with their movements, and slowly they began to touch down, whipping up sand, dust, and dirt all around, casting a thick smokescreen all around to obscure the movements of the men inside.

"Confirmed Xenos sighting!" A marine sergeant called out over the sounds of the engines. "Tag and bag, boys!"

The light turned green, and the back hatches opened, several men moved quickly, and in tight formation across the open sandy beach, weapons drawn and readied.

They moved, covering eachother's fields of fire until they started to close in, circling around, while the sergeant called out.

"You there! Get on the ground! Hands behind your head! Cross your ankles! Now!"

Dalen looked at the men, blinking in confusion. He heard them speak but their words were gibberish to him. He began to approach them, gesturing about as he spoke. "Und Grig farsh nort ben diet"

He again stumbled in the sand and fell to his knees and hands, grimacing at the soreness of his body. He glanced about at the men who were surrounding him, barely aware of them as his mind reeled about him.

As the strange figure stumbled about, the men got even more uneasy, with one of them shouting in his native language.

"Non veni ultra!" He barked, while the Sergeant called out in common. "On the ground! I won't tell you again!" He demanded, and saw the figure stumble to it's knees.

"Watch that armor..."

"Gods dammit where's that antimana!"

"Delta-Niner, get those orcas circling back around..." The radioman called into his reciever, while three more soldiers circled wide to the left, getting prone and taking cover behind a few berms of sand.

Slowly the men started to close in, weapons pointed and readied.

Dalen shook the sound out of his mouth and looked up again at the soldiers in confusion. He didn't rise, but he did try to speak again.

"Artosola vnetor, Akru dun vnet?" His tone held a question for them, and though he didn't recongnize the weapons they held, he understood the posture and positions they were taking. "Mnalo Gundari? Mako un dart Gundari! tres dal forni baskitu"

He again tried to struggled to his unsteady legs, looking at the soldiers with more caution now, as he began to understand their apprehension, and his own situation. He blinked twice and looked up at the star that brought light to this world, another miracle in his eyes. He came from a place devoid of light, so dark and desolate that those who lived within it tended to be cold and apathetic. His species were different, for they alone in that dark place were made of light all their own.

The scream of the Orca Gunships surely didn't drown out the Sergeant's commands did they?

"Get down on the ground, now!" He screamed again and the circle around the strange man widened as he went back to his feet.

The Aschen had encounted so many fantastical creatures in their long history, to have one on Langara itself was beyond this sergeant's pay grade. Were it a normal human, they'd have probably gunned him down already, but they didn't know the nature of the situation, this thing could be totally impervious to their weapons, and shooting it would cause a rampage.

Maybe this was something the Taiyou could handle? Or maybe the Mt'kee? No, they would not rely on foreigners for an internal security problem.

A third condor touched down roughly a hundred or so feet from their position, kicking up dust and sand once more, several dozen men hauling large green crates could be seen over the sergeant's shoulder.

The Sergeant lowered his weapon only slightly to point at the strange man, immediately after, he pointed to the ground, then he slinged his disruptor over his shoulder, and placed his hands on his head, interlacing his fingers.

He pointed at Artosola again, and then he immediately pointed to the ground.

"This is your final chance, on the ground or we will open fire!"

Dalen watched the seargents motions, a bit of clarity coming to him. He pointed to himself and said "Argo?"

Immediatly after he mimicked the seargents actions, laying flat out on the sand with his hands behind his head. His armor moved smoothly and without a sound as he did so, though as he lay out on the sand, a faint glimmer would become visible against the grainy backdrop, like a haze caused by heat coming off of it.

Dalen kept his head turned to his right, and his eyes followed the actions of all the figures who moved and approached through that field of vision.

Compliance - everyone around the strange figure visibly relaxed when he moved to the ground, and interlaced his fingers behind his head. Weapons lowered only slightly, and the men closed in, two moved in front of two more, with the two men in the back keeping their weapons pointed, while the two in the front moved swiftly to stand over the strange figure. They briefly checked him for weapons, patting him down and producing a pair of metal binders.

One reached, and attempted to grab Dalen's right hand, to move it behind his back, the second moved for Dalen's left wrist, to commit to the same action.

If Dalen didn't resist, the Marines would restrain his hands behind his back, and assist him in getting to his feet.

Being searched was strange to Dalen, but then so was everything else in this place. However his compliance was to be expected, even if these beings knew nothing about him.

He was a member of the Guardians, a group among his kind who were, in essentium, the force of law and defense for their world. He had performed these very same routines with others before, that was the only reason why he recongnized the gestures made by the sergeant.

The soldiers, searching him over for weapons, would find of course the sword and shield that was attached to his back. The sword itself was set into a sheath in the shield, while the shield was made with two strange "keys" on the inside curve, that attached to locks in the back of his armor. A cursory look would show similar locks on either arm. Aside from that, beneath the cloak that flowed down from his belt were several pouches containing various items, including several entirely alien plants and herbs, a selection of small, somewhat soft orbs, a handful of silvery, somewhat flat oval stones that seemed to have no purpose. But aside from the sword, Dalen carried no other weapons.

Dalen grunted a quick and short warning to the soldiers who tried to grab his arms, not as a threat but to prevent them from being harmed. Had they touched his armor, it would have felt similiar to grabbing a hot iron fresh from the furnace. He was aware enough of what they sought to do however, and quickly moved his hands behind him in the position they sought to bind his arms with.

One Marine shouted and recoiled in pain, some exposed skin seemed to have touched the armor. He checked it briefly to see if he was hurt, while the other men, in gloved hands tried to remove the weapons and the items, they would likely be taken to various labs around the Empire for study; but this creature, this Xenos, would not know the luxury of seeing Aschen cities; the Imperial Defense force was going to intervene, and they opted to quarantine the island for now.

They would attempt to carefully remove the sword, and secure the items away, but at the same time usher Dalen to a newly constructed tent. A Condor VTOL was just now taking off, it's engines screaming as the ship darted off into the horizon.

A man approached the Sergeant, and he was dressed completely different from the other men. A simple black suit, and tie accented with a large briefcase and dark sunglasses.

They communicated in hushed Anquietas briefly, until what appeared to be a young woman could be seen, her body resonating with a strange celestial energy, the Calx crystal that gave her life was humming in tune with the vibrations of the universe itself.

The Marines slowly moved to usher Dalen towards a large military style tent, there he would be questioned.

Dalen remained relatively passive as he was directed and moved about, doing his best to prevent physical contact with any of the soldiers so as to show them, in this at least, that he meant them no harm. The weapons and equipment, curiously, once removed from his person, lost all semblance of the heat haze that had covered them, and indeed became quite cool and easy to handle.

The soldiers moving the shield and sword would quickly realize however, that the weapon was significantly heavier than it's appearance would suggest. Large enough only to partially cover the torso, the shield seemed as heavy as an inch thick plate of iron. This would mean that multiple soldiers would be required to move the shield and the sword contained within it. Aside from that, the sword would prove ultimately impossible to remove from it's sheath within the shield.

Dalen would calmly enter the military tent, though as the woman brimming with celestial energy appeared upon the beach, Dalens eyes immediately turned to and focused upon her. Dalen, being a Celesteran, did not see things the way most other forms of life did. His eyes were not made for capturing and making sense of visible light as it was given off by stars. They gave off a light of their own, but they were, for the most part, useless for visual identification. Instead, his species viewed their surroundings via the energy given off by all matter as it was sensed by the antennae that curled from their brows. This had it's advantages, as this way of seeing things made it very hard to hide things from them, gave them three sixty "vision" around themselves at all times, and they could see perfectly in most any condition, so long as there was matter to be seen. Another advantage this had was that living things, being filled with more energy, that coursed in their nervous systems, were readily visible to them.

The overall effect of this was that the strange woman with the crystal was unto Dalen like a bright star thrumming with living energy.

Jordan, and the Gynoid finished their conversation in a rather hushed tone, and once Dalen was seated, inside a makeshift cell which was little more than a large cage, which had reinforced trinnium bars, and further augmented by a hard light field, the agent and the machine woman entered once the Marines stepped out, and once they made a hand gesture, the tent was cleared.

Pulling up a chair, the Agent slowly sat down, while the AI stood behind him.

He gestured to himself. "Jordan Duram." And then he gestured to the woman. "Lunatea." He said calmly, before extending his hand towards Dalen.

"Identify yourself."

"Dalen, Artosola." He replied, gesturing to himself. "Krino vashur Gundarr. Askir botto val neif durn atal"
