Description

Image[/image]

Damascus is not just a mage, but the mage that helped found the Seikleja, one of the most prestigious and currently under-staffed adventuring guilds that travel from dimension to dimension in search of artifacts, profit and honor. Both are known by many nicknames.

Damascus is surprisingly weird, with a collection of habits. He was a performer for a traveling circus, giving him lean muscles underneath the magical coat he wears, a gift from the Arch-Mage of his previous university, blue eyes with a hint of intelligence hinging on insanity and long brown locks.

Damascus is skilled in the magical talents of Cryomancy, Pyromancy and Summoning and Illusion. His companion makes up where he lacks, whereas he is talented with the sword, that's as far as he can go, he could never beat a skilled swordsman alone, and his companion likes to jokingly remind him of that on a daily basis. Honestly, if one were to ask Damacus why he didn't use a staff or a wand, he couldn't tell you, a lot of what he does is on the spot with little or no afterthought.

Items:

Sword: A 6' inch steel blade with leather scabbard and hilt. Nothing impressive, it's a little blunt on one-side and has a circle in the middle of it, just above the hilt.
Scrolls: Parchment paper perfect for writing things on.
Puzzlebox: A small box that looks like a bronze, overcomplicated Rubix Cube.
Cloak: A magically immune clothing item, perfect for shielding against rival magical blasts and protecting against glancing sword blows.
Filled Alchemy Potions: Because the blue liquid founded by alchemists actually works from time to time.

So begins...

One of the pillars in a large ground filled with colossal trees, gardeners watering lilies and posies and the occasional bark of a dog reverberated though the grounds, the pillar itself seemed to be made out of a silver metal, glistening in the sun above the city, it was even equipped with glowing blue runes up the length. There was a sound akin to tearing paper and a large blue circle came into existence.

Damascus stumbled though, holding his head and stopping himself from heaving by leaning on the obelisk, removing the hand from his head and looking around. This was his first time in the collective dimension of the Multiverse, the meeting point, the progenitor of all the worlds. "I thought... He'd lied to us, it's real, by the gods, it's real!" Dasmacus shouted, one of the gardeners looked at him oddly as he started laughing, cloak flapping in the wind the portal was generating.

"Hahahah. It's glorious."

By now the Gardeners were doing more than looking at them, they were now staring rather bluntly. "That crazy old man was right! There IS a Multiverse and he'd been there!" Damascus laughed and grinned. "The potential, magic, it's all here! Look! There are even sentient natives... Or they could be zombies. Probably not though, I don't think necromancy is as widespread from all the healthy plants here." Damacus was thinking faster than light about the new world, he broke away from the spinning circle and looked at the grass, then at the skies.

"Yes! Yess! Look at this!"

The gardeners dismissed them as crazies, as Wing City had a frequent problem with them. "It is, certainly not the rotting garbage that was Prime. I don't think we've found a garden, I mean look at those buildings in the distance made of metal and brick like the University back home." The University, he'd left his magical razer that was enchanted never to cut his skin there, too bad he left it behind, he'd have to pick it up later.

"They haven't got any bears, so I doubt it." It was no secret to Kaleena that Damacus hated bears. "Kaleena, I think we've found the next goldmine, just think of the secrets we'll find in the progenitor dimension? They must have thousands, no more than that, thousands upon thousands. A dimension that has a bit of every single other dimension inside it! My god!" Damascus grinned again.

Damacus nodded. "Apparently so, the power of this place, you can almost feel it. I'm willing to bet that they'll be races we've seen and ones we haven't here. This is... The old man and the stories in the books before him said that this was the meeting place for the heroes of old, some villains and was almost like a dimension without rules. No kings, just... chaos. Maybe it's changed? Or is it sleeping?" He said, following Kalena over to the flowers and squatting down and picked a flower, twirled it around on his palm.

"They're like... roses but not, we already know that most dimensions speak our language, or do they? We'll need to establish a base for the rest of us." Damascus scratched his chin and got up. "I can't believe he wasn't senile."

"Hey. HEY! Don't touch him, he could have a sickness we don't know or haven't had. No offense, druid." Damascus said, nodding rather apologetically several times as he stepped back and looked the gardener up and down. The mage pointed at a nearby building that was as tall as a skyscraper. "What is that? That's a very large building, figured I'd point that out, can you tell us? Is it a palace?" Damascus asked quickly.

"Oh right, and hello! I'm Damascus and this is Kalena, she's brown... and an elf." Damascus said rather matter of factly.

Damascus had the hood of his coat up, his entire body was splattered with rain, he didn't mind. The mage pushed open the door and entered, clicking his fingers to heat his hands up with a small gout of flame on his palm, rubbing his hands together and returning them to his sides. Damascus pulled down his hood and settled at the counter.

"Barkeep, got a mead for me?"

The mage passed the bartender two silver, he hadn't been intending to stay for long, just till the rain stopped. "Thanks, friend." Damascus turned to the elf clad in greed and raised a quirky eyebrow. Interesting. He was probably in the right place for something.

A pirate? Interesting, but he should be wary. Damascus slid a blue vial out of his coat and poured the substance in his mead, swilling it around and then taking a deep gulp of the mead. Good stuff. "Good mead, worth every meter of silver." Damascus said to to the barkeep, eying the pirate treasure. "Where'd you get that, stranger?" Damascus said, turning to the bulky man.

"Why an hour? What are you planning, pirate?" Damascus asked, turning around and getting off his chair. "You're getting hunted and you're trying to bring us down with you! Coward!" Damascus weaved past him and shouted at the elf, Rinnel and barkeep. "Quick, blockade the windows and the doors, barkeep have you got a basement?" Damascus pulled open his coat and adjusted the sheath of his blade.

Damascus folded his arms and kept looking at a pocket watch he had in his hands, the other two were meant to be here soon. They'd only just jumped into the Multiversal Dimension and if they messed up just once, they might send off a chain of events that'd ruin the entire dimension before they could say tea and crumpets.

They still had to officially make their presence known to the public.

Damascus unfolded his arms and put away the watch. "Is the plate armor really necessary? They have their own version of bounty hunters here, with swords and everything." The magician said, not too shocked by her entrance, they'd all done the same on different planets, Damascus had once set himself on fire accidentally by landing onto a campfire.

"Right, since Kalena isn't coming, I thought we'd go on an adventure around the town and see what there is to see."

"Fine, fine. A little tired but awake enough. Thanks for asking, Hidalgi. You? Apart from being attacked by the natives, beasts or people?" Damascus wrapped his arms behind his back and nodded his head to a nearby path signalling for them to start walking. "Setup a guild-hall, the Siekleja Guild Hall with a portal, bunks and an armory. We can stop by there." Damascus grinned.

"Seriously though, why go to the darkest and most dangerous looking place?"

"Please don't displease the undead? We can't keep back an assault on the guild hall this soon, we've hardly got enough people as it is to guard it, I can only create so many guardians out of magic." They passed another street, a couple of local knights reading the newest scrolls with recent invents inscribed on them, along with carrying official looking blades.

They were passing though temple district. "Liches are everywhere, I've noted, is there a dimension without them?"

There was a powerful gust of wind and a pale blue spiral of blue appeared in the air with a loud hum. A hand gripped the 'edge' of the portal and hauled a person with it, the person was dressed in what might match Eve's clothing if it was as blue as his was. Damascus muttered something angrily and waved his staff at the portal, closing it off and brushing a considerable amount of sand of his coat.

The mage turned his head towards Eve and perked an eyebrow. "Not to interrupt you, but am I in the right place?"

"I dunno, attractive woman reading my mind wouldn't be too bad." Damascus said rather unapologeticly. The magician continued to brush off the clinging beads of sand and slicked his hair back, sliding his staff back into the hook on his back. "Am I in Wing City? I was given a rather hardy knock to the head by a fairly large scorpion not too happy about me stealing it's clutch. I could give an impression but I'm not very good at pretending to be things with six legs." Damascus shrugged and held out his hand.

"Damascus, but you can call me whatever."

The ex-performer shook her hand tightly. "What's not working? I have no idea what you're talking about." Damascus said rather truthfully, rubbing the side of his head. "You're right about that, so this is the Plaza? I expected something a lot bigger, maybe we should have established the Guild Hall here rather than over there..." Damascus blurted, or just badly trying to recruit someone to the Siekleja.

"Nownownow, Now! What is the purpose of this... Plaza?"

"They need better guards then!" Damascus said. "Well I am, this isn't my dimension at all, I could give you directions but not many people know how to create portals like I can." Damascus grinned. "Eve, sounds like pandemonium in the Plaza sometimes, is it really safe to put the important buildings in the most violent place, but what do I know? I'm just an adventurer." Damascus shrugged again and adjusted his bag.

"So what's your purpose here?"

The magician nodded. "Portals to other worlds, here and there, we take things from another world, bring it to another one and sell it. Our guild does a lot of that, we've got a huge portal in our hall, you're welcome to visit it if you wish, The Siekleja Guild Hall. Why were you fired? It seems pretty hectic, if you don't mind me asking." Damascus said, ducking under a clothing line between two windows across the street.

"Populated too."

"Sort of, yeah, but more wide scale. There are tomb worlds if that's what you mean." Damascus said, stretching languidly as they walked. "Siekleja, yes, we only recently got here and just established a hall, we do this everywhere. You know if you've been fired, you can always join up with us, because if you're Guard and know teleportation, am I wrong in assuming you know how to fight?" Dasmascus asked and looked expectantly at her.

"One of those traveling celebrities eh?" Dasmascus shrugged. "Guard, adventurer, whatever you wish, Eve, we've got room for everyone and your pay is uh..." Damascus paused and thought for a second. "To be blunt, whatever we round up for the week which is usually high. The clutch of eggs I have is going to a well-paying nobleman in another world, so I split the pay between us all, so I'd say... one hundred and fifty gold pieces a week, plus whatever you grab while portal jumping." Damascus grinned at Eve. "I can split the pay with you now if you join up now."

Maybe he wasn't as clumsy in recruiting as Dasmascus thought himself to be.
