Description

Danielle Alland

Image

Personality

Age: Appears to be 22

Gender:Female

Appearance:
Danielle stands just a hair shy of five feet, seven inches. Her stance, her body positioning suggests that she’s always in motion. She has a lean, toned, attractive build, with enough soft curves to bely the strength that lies beneath her skin. Her hair hangs past her shoulders, wavy, and fine, the color of autumn. She generally likes to leave it down, unless she’s in a performance, during which she’ll tie it back in a loose bun, or knot it firmly at the base of her neck.

She has angular facial features, pale, smooth skin, and bright green eyes that reflect an intelligent, strong personality. Her full lips are almost always pulled up at the corners in a soft, knowing smile, as though she’s inviting trouble to come find her.

Personality:
Danielle was raised in a sheltered home, however, her independence was what kept her from becoming the shy wallflower her mother hoped she’d always be. She has a taste for adventure, a curiosity about things that lie outside of the world her mother has created for her. She’s more than willing to try new things, and brushes off concern (even when it’s necessary). She’s smart, very capable in social environments, though her strict schedule generally keeps her out of reach of most social circles. If she were to describe herself, she’d liken herself to a bird hung by a window, trapped in a cage with only the most fleeting hope for escape.

She loves her mother, in spite of her protectiveness, and will do her best to please her. She doesn’t like rebelling, but the girl does have a mind of her own, and if she thinks she can get away with something reasonably, then she’ll most certainly try it. She can only live once, after all.

History:
Born to a single mother of moderate means, Danielle was allowed to pursue the objectives her mother thought would be appropriate for a young lady. So she tried horseback riding, sewing, painting, singing, among other things, and while she had some small talent in each area, she found her true love to be in dance. So she took ballet lessons, often getting in trouble for improvising her own movements with contemporary ones of her own, since the rigidity of ballet didn’t suit her tastes. However to please her mother, she went ahead and complied.

Her talents earned her a place in a prestigious dance academy all the way through her high school years, which in turn lent her a full-ride scholarship to a Fine Arts college not too far from town. So she currently attends classes there, practices nearly every day, and stays the rest of the time at home to study for her other general education courses under the strict tutelage of her mother.

But, it would suffice to say that the girl is more than ready for an adventure.

"Do you like women, Evan?" Danielle replied with a smile, turning to slip her hand into her duffel before withdrawing a business card. She took his hand, laid the card there, and folded his fingers overtop of it.

"Perhaps at some point I could give you a private showing." she said, pulling her hand back.

"I'll still be keeping an eye out." Danielle replied. "Give me a call, then. I don't have anything better to do on Tuesday anyway." She smiled a little. "Just make sure you let that other girl you run into know that we're booked."

She licked her bottom lip, laughing to herself as she slipped her earbuds into her ears, promptly turning on her heel and walking the opposite way.

The dancer had long since showered and changed from her practice gear, letting her hair hang long in a curtain of red curls between her shoulders. She wore jean shorts, and a loose-fitting tank-top, casual-wear for the bar she'd come to favor. With her ear-buds in place, she slipped through the front door, moving to the beat of a song only she could hear, and made her way to the bar counter where she planted herself on the rim of a stool.

She crossed one long leg over the other, turning and reaching to plug in an order in the computer. Good day, apparently. She went for the Long Island.

Danielle glanced sideways, suddenly smiling wide. She reached over to gently nudge Nathan's shoulder before pulling her earbuds away from her ears. "So when you aren't getting your wand stolen by small children, you find yourself falling asleep at a bar counter?" she said, angling to put her chin in her hand as she watched him.

"Busy man."

"So far, I'm doing pretty well." Danielle said, looking over his face. There was no hint of judgment in her gaze or expression. "Since last you saw me, I've done a whole lot of nothing."

Unless you wanted to count avoiding the henchmen of your mob-boss ex-boyfriend. That seemed like a Debbie-Downer way to talk to a cute young man, so she decided not mentioning it would be the best way to go about things.

"Well, here I thought I'd get a chance to fulfill what I'd promised the kid." she said with a mild roll of her eyes. "But you look tired."

Danielle jumped a little, looking towards the computer console. She gave Nathan a glance, before reaching to brush her fingertips over the page.

With a crackle and a whir, the computer started back up. Danielle dusted off her hands before turning back to Nathan. She waved a hand in front of his face. "Earth to wizard," she said with a small grin. "It was Nathan, right? I was wondering if you might want to go on a date with me."

Danielle blinked.

"Oh you poor thing." she said in a murmur, reaching over and gently laying her hand down over his wrist. "You're a wizard. You could do something to try to figure out what my intentions are." She blushed, and laughed.

"I'll admit, they're not totally innocent, but not for the reasons you think." She watched him, rosey cheeks and glittering green eyes.

"I was thinking a movie."

Her eyes were genuine, but her smile had faded as she watched him. "Very." she said, glancing over his face. "Life's too short, and I've been through too much to let a good opportunity pass me by." She pulled her hand back, letting them rest around one knee as she drew it up to pull against her chest.

"What could I do?" she asked, her voice soothing. "To make you see?" She didn't look hurt, but there was definitely a hint of sadness there, either for herself, or for him, it couldn't be said.

She lifted her hands in a look of surrender. "I'm not the best at taking social cues. A little bit opposite in my thinking, but the last time I got asked out, ended up dating a mob boss, so I figured I'd probably do better looking on my own, being proactive."

She laid her arms down on the counter and sighed. "Like it or not, just because I'm pretty doesn't mean I'm trying to hurt you. Not all of us are snakes." She reached over, her fingertips hovering over the stubble of his jaw.

"You're a little paranoid, yes, but you're pretty cute too. I'm glad I got to save your wand that day." Her lip twitched, and her eyes were glittering with mirth.

Danielle laughed, a sound like wind chimes. Sighing wistfully, she smiled at him, looking to Nathan from out of the corner of her eyes. "Some call me Persephone." she said with a sly wink. "But people who know better call me Danielle."

She slipped off of her stool, reaching past him to grab a napkin so that she might write her phone number down. Sliding the paper over to him, she then shifted to plant a light kiss on his cheek.

"Thanks for giving me a chance, Nathan." she said, with a light flush of color coming to her cheeks.

"Beautiful." Danielle smiled brilliantly. She found she really liked it when he called her Dani. "I actually need to go pick up a new outfit stamps!" She slipped one of the earbuds in, stepping back as she eased away from the bar counter. "Looking forward to it," she said before waving and turning on her heel. With a spin and a few graceful steps, Danielle was out the door.

There was the sound of bells as Danielle made her way up the street to the address that Nathan had left scribbled on her napkin. She had an anklet on, a delicate silver thing that rang musically with each of her steps. She dressed simply, in a black gypsy skirt that hung to her knees, and a strapless, forest green blouse that just barely clung to the curve of her waist. She didn't seem to carry a purse on her.

Beneath the curtain of red curls that spilled over her shoulder, the wires of her earbuds slipped down, gathered into her hand where she held her MP3. Her eyes flickered to the building she finally paused at, double-checking the address one last time before making her way to his door. She knocked, taking out the earbuds, and leaned on the doorjam, patiently waiting with a lazy smile curving her lips.

"Mhm," She reached for his hand, slipping her fingers easily into his before turning and pulling him along after her. The door to his apartment closed with a click, the locks engaging from the inside, all of their own accord. She looked around the block, as if seeing it for the first time, and couldn't help the smile that grew on her face.

"This place has character." she noted, turning to look up at his face. "Reminds me of the place I grew up." Her gaze slithered down to his chest, to his shoes, before flickering up to his face.

"You look very, very handsome by the way."

Some small part of Danielle was very aware of this fact. She looked up at him, green eyes warming with her smile. "I'm a dancer," she replied with a shrug. "A professional one, and not in the sex industry, so income is only as big as the shows I dance in." She shrugged, sighing musically. It didn't seem to bother her that much at all.

"Also, thank you. Haven't been on a date in ages. You should have seen how much I was fussing." She laughed then, avoiding looking across the street at the group of men who had started to follow them with their eyes.

"So," she said, "There's this dance club not too far away from here, but if that isn't your thing, there's this drive-in theater I know about." Her grin turned mischeivous. "I know a building nearby that gets a view and sound almost perfectly, so we could sneak up there and watch without paying."

"Opportunity," she corrected with a sly wink. They were coming to a part of town that had fewer windows shot out. Most of the street lights were in appropriate working order, and more respectable couples were walking hand in hand, much the same way that she and Nathan were. Truthfully, Danielle had planned on the movie sneak-in from the get go.

The woman was a planner, and certainly not 'delicately indecisive'. Women like that tended to really piss her off. So, needless to say, she'd made arrangements. After all, she did ask Nathan out on the date in the first place. She glanced across the street, both ways, and lead him to the other sidewalk. The drive-in theater was not too far away now.

"Is that why you had candles in your window?" she asked him. There was a slight bounce to her step.

The building that loomed ahead of them was an abandoned one, but it would be quite easy for the pair to climb the fire-escape.

She touched her hand to the underside of his chin, lifting his face as she stepped closer to look into his eyes. "You haven't had sex in a while, have you?"

Her lip twitched, eyes glittering with amusement. "Don't think I don't see you looking, Candle-Man." It didn't seem to bother her all that much. She pulled back, but not without smoothing her hand over his cheek briefly, before she reached down to take his hand in order to lead him to the fire escape.

She let go of his hand, ascending rather quickly so that she could ensure she'd be at the top before him.

The moment he'd come to the top of the staircase, he would see the little set-up that Danielle had arranged herself. There were candles everywhere. Candelabras, old wax tapers, candles in glass jars and candles floating in bowls of water. It gave a soft glow to the romantic little scene she'd created. At the center of it all was an attractive arrangement of pillows and soft blankets, with a low table set with wine glasses. A woven basket held crackers and cheese, with the wine on ice.

"I banked on you choosing the theater." she said quietly, sitting on the low wall that rimmed the top of the building. She crossed her legs and watched him. "After all, I did ask you out on the date, right?"

"Well," she rose from the place she was sitting, and walked over to the table so she could pour them both a glass of wine. "You can feel however you like, I suppose. I know how I feel." Smiling, she walked back over to him, slipping the wine into his hand before taking a sip from her own glass. "If you'd prefer lawn-chairs, we can do that too."

Smiling around the rim as she took another small sip, she took a step back and shrugged. "And if you don't like it, or it makes you uncomfortable, just say so. I'd prefer your honesty rather than make you sit through something you'd rather not deal with."

She looked very comfortable with whatever the outcome might be. The fact that he was not totally thrilled didn't phase her in the slightest. Her last 'lover' had expected a show from her. Perhaps it was her own fault that she'd expected Nathan to want her to dote on him.

"If it helps, the movie they're playing is some awful slasher film."

He was watching her.

She smiled in that familiar, carefree way. He was thinking of something, and by the look in his eye, it was something rather serious.

But then he did something that she most certainly did not expect.

The feel of his hand on her hip sent a thrill up her spine. She repressed a shudder, looking at him almost shyly now. He drew her close, took her hand in his, and began to dance. She seemed at a loss, her eyes wide, round and shining, with her lips lightly parted as she drew close to him too. She eased into the movement, blinking, and finally smiling as she shifted to rest her cheek on his shoulder.

"I forgot what it was like to be held." she murmured, not realizing she said it until it happened. She blushed then, closing her eyes.

That's what she was afraid of.

She leaned back, looking up into his eyes. For the first time that night, she looked unsure. "With time." she finally breathed, slipping her hands up to cup either side of his face. Her thumbs traced the top of his cheek bones, and a smile found its way back to her lips. She laughed then.

"Goodness, Nathan. You've put me at a loss for words." She put her cheek to his shoulder again, her eyes closing as her arms shifted to wrap around his neck.
