Danii

An elemental warrior with no place to call home and no allies.

0 · 398 views · located in The Cold Plains

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Celedia

Description

Name:
Daniella

Nickname:
Danii

Image

Race:
Ice Maiden

Hair:
Blond

Eyes:
Crystalline blue

Height:
5'1"

Weight:
95 lbs

Complexion:
Pale

Other Information:
Ice Maidens are not hard to figure out. Their elemental powers revolve around ice and the cold, their skin is literally freezing and when a warm-blooded race such as a human touches Danii, they burn her skin with injuries increasing depending on the length of contact. It also works the opposite way because when making skin contact with a warm-blooded creature, the Ice Maiden's touch begins to freeze the target which can cause hypothermia or frostbite depending once more on length of contact. Danii is an outcast and travels the worlds alone. Her people are known for their fighting skills and every weapon that she utilizes relates back to her elemental magic. The colder she is, the more potent her magical abilities become.

Equipment:
Bow- Shoots ice arrows which inflict cold damage upon the target. If left in place, the ice slowly begins to spread in up to a 1 foot radius from the wound.

Twin Daggers- Enchanted, once again, with the cold in a special form known as ice poison. This poison actually enters the blood stream if the wound is deep enough, crystallizing everything in its path unless healed.

Ice bombs- Small circular grenade-like items which, when lobbed at a target, explode upon impact sending ice shared out like shrapnel and everywhere the ice shards hit is affected by a 1 foot radius of ice that spreads slowly from the point of impact. This ice is magical and cannot be melted, only shattered.

So begins...

A curiously petite figure popped into the bar, a seemingly young blonde with eyes which might be called unique anywhere other than Wing City. They were an icy crystalline blue and now swept about the bar, assessing the interior before she would even contemplate moving away from the exit.

Patrons sat about the room either huddled in among themselves or acting raucously and it was that last group which she had more interest in at the moment. Loud, drunken people were arguably more entertaining than the quiet onlookers. Still, she needed to be careful. This was a primarily human city so the temperatures were usually kept in a range that was comfortable to them which seemed to be 60-80 degrees Farenheit, so she needed to keep cool and make sure she didn't go into thermal shock.

That, and given her barely-there outfit, she needed to make sure no one touched her bare skin either. Humans were also known for being quite friendly, even with strangers, and her navy blue bandeau top and matching skirt left a lot of exposed skin. Though it was to aid in regulating her cooler core temperature more than to be noticed. Shrugging to herself, she wandered to the nearest clear section of bar, standing by Lukas so she could order up a frozen drink.

Sadly, Danii was used to the leers and once overs that came with her lack of clothing but until she could afford to buy one of the expensive thermally controlled suits that were available here in Wing City she was out of luck.

Her fingers tapped on the holomenu, ordering her own drink despite Lukas' offer but she wasn't completely anti-social, so she gave him a once over while smirking. "I'd offer to go drink for drink with you but it seems you've already got a head start." She didn't tell him what she was drinking simply because people found it weird. She required it to be frozen simply for the lowered temp and she had high metabolism so she always drank hard when she did drink.

Lukas would see the bartender crush the ice, toss it into a glass then pour equal parts of her three men into the pint- Jack (Daniels), Johnny (Walker) and Jim (Beam). The barkeep rose a brow as he slid the cup her way and when she picked it up, spiderwebs of icy crystals began to creep across the glass wherever she touched. "You got a name, big man?"

Danii looked over at the atrocious sound that hit her ears before Lukas' introduction and she was appalled to have a clear view of a man throwing up all over a woman, her shoes, and the floor beneath. Her own face paled slightly, if that was even possible, at the sight but instead of doing the intelligent thing and putting down her drink, she began to throw it back like it was water instead. After a moment, the glass was halfway finished and when she finally placed it onto the counter, her breath began to come out in visible puffs.

The big man spoke and her crystalline gaze turned up to his face once more, trying desperately not to roll her eyes at his ogling. Weren't humans at least a little more discreet about this? Was he even human?!

"Lukas, I'm glad you appreciate the view but could you tone it down a little bit? You're giving me a complex." Then she held her glass aloft for his gaze and shrugged off his intended compliment. "Quick metabolism. Anything less potent wouldn't make me as plastered as I intend to get tonight..." Leaning back in her seat, she watched as the two people beside them, Markuss and Alyssa, continued their entertaining scene before she gave a quick laugh and shrugged. "But not THAT plastered, I hope."

Danii couldn't help it, she laughed and shook her head as the man continued to speak. He couldn't be human, he was not like anything she had run into so far in this city. "Name's Daniella but call me Danii. Especially if you make the promise not to puke on my shoes, I think you might end up with a dagger in one of your amazingly perfect kidneys if that happens."

Whether she was serious or not was hard to ascertain because she followed the threat/statement with a wink as she finished off the rest of her glass easily and summoned the barkeep for another. The cold liquid was making her more comfortable in the otherwise warm climate.

"You're not trying to drink so that you don't feel feelings anymore, right? I don't want you to end up professing your love to me or some such nonsense. I want to drink to drink." Another grin swept her pale features as another frozen concoction was slid towards her and she downed another third of a glass before continuing. "You should really try these, by the way. They're really good."

Danii didn't think that Lukas fit the mold of a regular human but that didn't mean that she disliked the man either. The fact that he was jovial and welcoming (albeit a little too welcoming) made him an ideal drinking partner and at least he was up front with his leers and jests and ogling. A lot of guys would pretend to be suave and sincere and then... Well, and then they upchucked all over your footwear and where did that get you? Honestly.

It was more entertaining than any of the outings she had experienced in her homeland, before she was exiled, where the people were as close to the phrase "Ice Queen" as you could get. Everyone was serious, she rarely heard jokes unless they were making fun of people and there was a general air of superiority around everyone there. This was refreshing.

Raising her glass towards Lukas, she toasted him as the bartender slid a frozen drink his way. "To drinking for drinking's sake." With a tip of her glass, she finished off the rest of hers and the bartender must have anticipated it because another glass was placed in front of her immediately. Before she relinquished the emptied glass, she blew lightly against the side and ice began to form over the outside of the cup, creeping over its entire surface until it looked ornamental. "So whatcha do for a living, Lukas? Or is this..." she gestured to him and grinned, then she switched the empty glass for the full one and kept drinking, "Is this what you do all day?"

Danii's lips twisted into a sarcastic smirk as she called him out on his occupation jest. "Oh really? A baker?! I knew the outfit looked familiar. You bought that Chef's Corner, right?" Then, the big guy seemed to have a near-stroke as his face contorted with the after effects of brain freeze and she burst into laughter again. Her free hand moving over her bare stomach to clutch it as she shook with the force of it.

"I'm sorry!" She proclaimed, holding the glass up once more with another shrug. "Long story short ahh..." she paused, wondering whether she should give a near-stranger information that could harm her until she figured What the hell...

"In case you haven't noticed I'm not human. Ice is sort of my thing?" It was a vague but useful answer. At least she didn't tell him less informative, right? To prove her point she lifted her left hand and curled all of her fingers in towards her palm except one, her pointer finger. Placing it down onto the counter in front of them, she caused ice to flow out onto the wooden surface and it crawled over any and all objects in its way until it covered the bar directly in front of them.

This time, Danii did roll her eyes as she tapped a finger against the bottom of his glass to drop the temperature of its contents. "I don't do parties so after tonight you're on your own." Her face twisted up in a look of disgust as he mentioned chocolate cake and though she didn't like chocolate, the sentence did remind her that she hadn't eaten in awhile. Probably time to do that before she got too far in to drinking...

Her fingertips flew over the holomenu and she kicked back another half glass of liquor before speaking again. "So... I have to ask... The scar..." She hoped it wasn't a sore spot because... Well, she was bringing it up anyway even if it was. "Chocolate cake did that, really? I'll have to remember to keep my eye on those assholes. So unassuming, being baked goods and whatnot." She settled her glass onto the counter and shook her head thoughtfully, playing along with his jest until he fessed up to his real occupation.

Danii palmed her face as Lukas made mention of slipping out of his 'chef's outfit' and it was all she could do to stop herself from laughing. Sadly enough, she failed and burst into a bout of giggles that she managed to quiet soon enough but her shoulder still shook as she internalized the laughter instead.

"Does the Casanova thing work well for you, then?" She grinned, drinking down the rest of her third glass and sliding it across to the bartender so he could switch with her, presenting her with her fourth. "You're a fighter of some kind. That much is evident." Much because she was a fighter as well, which most people didn't even assume about the petite blond. She honestly looked more like a dancer than a brawler but being an Ice Maiden meant she was a warrior through and through. "But if you don't wanna share details, don't. You're just a drinking buddy after all." More laughter followed by more drinking and she tucked away another third of a glass, waiting for him to catch up with her. She didn't count his previous jug of liquor because she hadn't been here to match him then.

"Thanks for the jealous lovers tip, by the way. I'd hate to be run through with a sword just because I batted my eyes at you. Those wounds take forever to heal. Am I right?" Oddly enough, she had experience with that situation.

Snickering at the man's attempt to catch up with her, she faked him out a few times, pretending as if she was going to start on her fourth before he was even finished with his third. It wasn't until he began to get close to the bottom of his third drink that she down the rest of her fourth, keeping one step ahead of him.

While they waited for the bartender to grab their empties and give them new drinks, Danii folded her arms and leaned forward, resting her crossed arms onto the bar. "I like the baker story better..." She said, lifting one hand long enough to wave it dismissively at his story about being a soldier before she laughed again. Her eyes went darted quickly around the room as if she just discovered that the bar was beginning to empty out. "Do you need to go check on your friend?" she asked, unaware that the other man had left to head upstairs.

Wandering back in their direction, the bartender huffed a bit and slid two pitchers in front of them instead of glasses, gesturing towards their empty mugs instead. "There. So I don't have to do so much... Running." One pitcher of the frozen concoction and one pitcher straight up liquor. This was going to be either a quick or a long night. Danii poured her own drink then raised it to Lukas in another toast. "To... catching up to someone less than half your size." Another laugh rolled from her lips, quelled only when she began to start her next drink.

Rolling her eyes again and following it with a good bout of laughter, Danii watch as Lukas ditched the glass and began drinking from the pitcher instead. Her lower jaw dropped slightly from disbelief and she laid a fingertip on the rim of the pitcher in an attempt to ease it from his lips though she was careful not to put her hand anywhere near him. Sadly, the slightest touch of her fingertip could give him frostbite and that would surely end their drinking games quickly.

"Hey hey hey...." she said, her tone showing only the slightest hint of inebriation and she drew her hand back to her own drink. "Unfair! Lord knows how many glasses that is! How can we keep tally if you do stuff like that?"

If Lukas was paying attention, he would see Danii's grin grow as he began to slur and problem solve at the same time. It was hilarious but that wasn't the reason for her jovial countenance. No, instead she was grinning from ear to ear because she was about to mess with the poor drunkard's mind and confuse him even more than he appeared to be.

"No, no... See THIS is going to be your glass ahead of me..." She tapped the glass he had just poured before continuing, "But this is my fifth drink whereas that drink is your third drink. The drinks you took from the pitcher don't count because they weren't in a glass and we were counting how many glasses we were drinking, right? So you're still a glass behind me but that would make you even to me but if I drink you're still a drink behind me, right?"

To hide her laughter, she forced down the drink she had just poured for herself and prayed to the deities of Wing City that she wouldn't accidentally spit her cocktail all over Lukas. Even if it wasn't as bad as puking on someone's shoes, it would still be quite the party foul.

"Ah, and me? I'm new in town." She decided, at least for this portion of the conversation, not to mess with his mind quite as much. "How long have you been here? Damn near forever?"

Danii waved away Lukas' concern as she downed the rest of her own drink and despite the good time she was having, she also realized that due to the crowd gathering in Gambit's that she was beginning to overheat. A sigh escaped her lips and it no longer had the appearance of a visible first breath when you stepped outside on a wintry day. No, it seemed like a normal, invisible exhalation which for the Ice Maiden meant that her core temperature was beginning to rise.

"Dammit." She said, standing abruptly to her not-so-intimidating 5'1" height. "I have to head out. Getting too hot in here..." And it wasn't like she could strip off any more clothing to lower her temp either. Well, not without getting arrested or something far worse.

"Wanna walk? If not, enjoy your drinks!" With that, she turned and practically sprinted out of the bar, still clutching one of her icy drinks in her left hand and she pressed it against her forehead and cheeks as she pushed her way outside.

When Danii exited Gambit's, a surprisingly cool rush of air met her flushed features and she moved to the side of the door, pressing her back to the exterior wall for a moment. "Goddess in the sky that place always gets warm when it's packed...." She murmured to herself, once more lifting her cold drink to her forehead and rolling the glass lightly over her brow in another attempt to cool herself off.

If she had been thinking, she would've gone to the kitchen instead to find one of those amazing walk-in freezers that she had seen in other area restaurants. A few minutes in that would bring her right back to normal temp and she wouldn't even need these damn icy drinks anymore.

As her train of thought led her back to the drink in her hand, she brought it down to her lips and drank through half of it before raising it once more to her forehead and by then, Lukas had burst through the door as well.

"Sorry." She said, by way of apology and a throaty laugh filled the street as she thought of how silly this must seem. Here she was, wearing next to nothing and overheating whereas he was wearing full armor and didn't seem to care.

Danii lifted her eyes at the same time as Lukas' did and her gaze caught a plane. Odd creation. One she was now familiar with but that she had nothing similar to in her own homeland. "The metal birds, eh? I've never imagined them to bring down death and destruction as so many people tell me they have." She lowered her glass once more, feeling a bit more normalized as she drank down the rest of its contents and unlike Lukas, she set it gently by the wall that she was leaning against.

"Is this city always so violent?" The violence itself didn't bother her but she had hoped for a bit of respite. A place to rest where she wasn't hunted or drafted into someone else's war. A moment for rest and relaxation would be wonderful.

"So, Lukas. Tell me something that no one else knows about you." She grinned at him as she pushed away from the wall and began walking down the street. The bar was now a no-go with it being a battleground now... A fact which confused her. Why was a simple tavern special enough that entire armies centered their battles around it? Did this country have no major bases that would make better conquests?

It was obvious that the answer was good enough for Danii and she grinned at his revelation, followed by his self deprecating comment. "Not so crazy. I've seen the terrors that the forests hold." Her gaze drifted to the street ahead of them for a moment before reverting back to Lukas. "Not crazy at all." A soft chuckle issues from her lips as she suddenly turned around, walking backwards but moving so that she was ahead of him instead of walking side by side with him.

"I'll go next..." she pondered, obviously thinking it over and a few times she looked as if she may speak but kept her lips sealed instead. No, no... it wouldn't do well for her to tell him secrets like that. Now would it?

Laughing to herself at the secrets she had bypassed, she finally gave him an easy one. "Unlike most women I have met... I despise chocolate." A grin swept her face and she turned back around, walking beside him once more as she clasped her hands behind her back. If she had pockets, she would probably tuck her hands into them but with her top and skirt, she had little room for maneuver. "You're not a serial killer, right? I hope I don't make the mistake of wandering off with you only to be bludgeoned to death."

Danii laughed again and shook her head, pleading her case about her own 'secret'. "Honestly. I never knew what the stuff was until I got to Terra. I see it in all the food here, practically, so thought I would try it and..." She shrugged again, easily keeping pace with the taller man even though she was quite a bit shorter than he was. "No one really to share that random fact with since discovering it either."

A grin lit her face and her eyes drew a mischevious twinkle to them as she offered up another secret in its place. "But if that isn't good enough... I've never been kissed." That one was too easy, really. The man was obviously attracted to her and this was just playing with fire, almost literally. Yet it was another truth. Her race was entirely female in gender and most other races that she encountered, she could do nothing with. Danii wandered a bit ahead of him since they were nearing an intersection and she moved to the edge of the sidewalk, looking in both directions.

"Which way?" He had been here for two years so she trusted him to know where they were going. "Or do you want to loop back to the bar?" Turning, she arched a brow, allowing him to decide.

As they made their way down the left side street heading towards the gardens, Danii arched a brow at Lukas as he joked about having her outside and to his self. "I'm surprised you haven't been locked up by now." She laughed, shaking her head at him and the laughter cut short when he followed up the comedic performance with a serious question.

"Ah, that's it. Not really. The land I come from has only females that are pretty long lived so there is really no need for..." her eyes turned to him, easing over his body in a steady gaze before reverting to the path ahead of her. "Intimacies. The two countries surrounding ours we are constantly at war with and even if any one was interested then it would be physically impossible. Right? How do you touch someone when you can give them frostbite? How can you be touched without having third degree burns?" She shrugged, acting as if it didn't bother her though part of her wished they were still drinking. The alcohol would've made this conversation a lot more hilarious in her mind and less.... Depressing.

"I think you owe me another since I gave you two secrets there, soldier boy."

Danii let out an appreciative laugh as he mentioned loving her for her mind. "Ah, you must be drunk! Spouting proposals now, are we!? Or is this how you usually treat women?" Her body was finally starting to regulate its temperature correctly so that once more, every time she exhaled her breath showed. A small, foggy cloud in the otherwise clear night.

It was then that he agreed to not only share another 'secret' but allowed her to choose the topic as well. Her more cynical side wondered if he would tell the truth or fabricate some elaborate and entertaining lie but immediately she knew that he was honest, if nothing else. Especially with the way he had treated her so far this night.

"And if I said work?" She cast a sly sideways glance at him, laughing before he could answer. He had already shown that was a sort of sensitive topic. Perhaps he was a super-elite top secret soldier for the planet and had to kill her if he told her what he really did. Oh well, it was worth the try.

"No, no, no...." she waved a hand as if erasing the question from an imaginary chalkboard before switching the topic. "Mmmm... Favorites." That one was easy and less confrontational than any other topic. Who hated talking about what they enjoyed most?

As they tread down the street towards the city gardens, they encountered sporadic groups of people and at this time of night... Well, let's just say that they seemed to be the type of people that would be hanging out late at night in groups.

"Lukas.. Lukas... Focus. I asked you a question. Unless busy nights are your favorite thing in the whole world and then...." she paused, flashing him an undecipherable look before she broke into another grin. "Well, they I'd have to question how you spend your free time." Her eyes drifted in the same direction that his had and she quickly assessed the people milling about but didn't see any of them as threatening. Not even when a trio of rather well-armed punks came through a gate a few feet ahead of them and began walking their way.

"Wooo!" One called out, obviously intoxicated and it seemed that they were talking amongst themselves until they got within arm's length of Danii and Lukas. The tallest turned towards the petite blonde, eyeing her in much the same way that Lukas had earlier in the evening but with more lascivious intent. "Hey, look at this boys..." The man's eyes flashed to Lukas for a brief second before regarding her once more. "Ditch the old man and hang out with us tonight, blondie. We'll treat ya real good. Amirite, guys?" They laughed at themselves which only caused Danii to roll her eyes as the trio paused in their movements and one reached out to grab Danii's arm. Instinctively, she flinched, pulling out of the way of grabby hands and accidentally backing into Lukas in an attempt to step away from the strangers.

"Sorry," she muttered under her breath to him and she proceeded to flip off the men before trying to walk away from them. It was obvious that she was ticked but trying to avoid conflict.

The 'leader' of the group sneered and muttered, "Bitch," beneath his breath.

If Wing City was known for anything it was the sheer variety of people that you could encounter at any given time in the city. From magic-wielding medieval types to men that seemed straight out of a sci-fi movie with their high tech armor and weaponry and it was just their luck that they had run into a group encompassing all aspects.

Danii hadn't even noticed the film of ice that had spread across Lukas' side from the momentary contact. No, she was too pissed at the expletive directed her way. But to her surprise, Lukas apparently had the same reaction she did to the crass term and immediately began stalking over to the taller, black-haired male that posed as the leader/instigator of the entire scene that was now unfolding before them.

"Lukas...." she began, then trailed off. In all truth, she kind of wanted to see the punk get his face pummeled by the much larger and much more frightening Lukas. Still, as Lukas made his way towards one of the men, the two others began to ready themselves for a fight- perhaps this was what they were looking for all along. Who else would be stupid enough to mess with someone like Lukas, anyway? Still, she could hold her own in a battle and she wasn't prissy enough to make Lukas solo this encounter.

The shortest of the three men, the one that had tried to grab her and was subsequently facepalmed by Lukas, clambered back up onto his feet and drew a small silvery pistol that looked futuristic to Danii's less modernized gaze. Sadly, she wasn't properly outfitted for battle since she had left her weapons in her rented room. Who knew she was going to be leaving the bar tonight, much less getting into trouble? Thankfully she didn't always need blade or bow to combat people and raising a palm skyward, she drew the moisture from the air, urging it to coalesce above her hand as it crystallized. Tiny ice crystals spun haphazardly and the whirlwind grew larger and larger until the icicles were now the size of tiny daggers.

She hurled the sh
