A relatively large nation within the Aurora, Isiria spans several star systems. Isiria is an Aschen member-state.
The Aschen Empire, a massive collection of semi-sovereign provinces that reigns over a great portion of the Milky Way Galaxy, paranoid, arrogant, and cruel, a once prosperous nation spirals into poverty, and self-destruction.

Description

Name: Dayson Gorm
Nicknames: DG, Day, D
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Electric blue hair, purple eyes, 5'9, broad shoulders, medium build. Not muscular. Dayson doesn't have a fighters body. He'd probably cower and take a beating rather than defend himself and put up a fight. He has a birthmark that's purple against his pale skin that's the shape of dodecahedron. It's not small and covers the back of his right shoulder. It's more of a lilac colour, with what seems to be some kind of darker purple engravings within it. Due to his blue hair, and pale skin, he also has pale blue freckles covering his face.
Citizenship: Isirian
Ethnicity: White
Species: Human
Occupation: Farmer
Residency: Lorhill

Personality: Dayson is the epitome of good, it seems. He doesn't want to do anything wrong yet, but not doing anything wrong, because of his views, without realising it he often does wrong things. To Dayson, everything is black and white. Good and evil. There are no greys. There are no in betweens. So if someone killed a person in self defence, the fact that they killed someone, in Dayson's eyes, would mean that they should pay for the crime like other murderers. They took another life, no matter what the circumstances.

He is polite, kind, good mannered and a proper gentleman. He stands up for what's right, gets involved to stop whatever is going wrong. If he sees bullies tormenting someone, whether he can fight them off or not, he intervenes to stop it, before realising that now he's caused a confrontation - something he hates.

Powers: Dayson is a telepathic and empathic person. He can hear people's thoughts and feelings. He has the power to use and manipulate them into what he wants, though he so far has little control over this. As of yet he still hasn't learned to control what enters his head and what doesn't. He hasn't learned how to shut them out. And he hasn't learned to manipulate them correctly yet so that he can lead people to do what he wants them to do, without them suspecting that someone has control of their thoughts. Dayson is a good guy though and would never use his powers for evil, not even to entertain himself.

Background: Mother: Alla Gorm
Father: Harrick Gorm

His father is sensible, reliable, loyal, hardworking, safe... anything that isn't reckless. His mother is the opposite. She's carefree, reckless, adventurous, curious, a hit with men, a flirt, fun-loving... As a child, Dayson was much like his mother, getting into all kinds of trouble. He was adventurous, curious and everything his mother was in personality - something which his father hated. Yes, he loved Dayson's mother but that kind of personality often got you into trouble. As soon as Dayson reached an age where he could be put to work more, his father did it. And instilled in Dayson was discipline and hardwork. A good work ethic and everything that his father was.

Unknown to many, his mother often plays away. She loves Harrick but simply finds him boring. He's a great father to Dayson, he's a great person to settle down with - but anything else and he's just... boring. So she finds fun elsewhere - among people travelling through so that the people who know her in the community and her husband and son will never find out. Dayson is an only child.

So begins...

Eight years ago...

The midsummer festival was well in full swing by the time the sun had reached its zenith in the sky overhead, and though the day was hot, it had done little to dissuade the townspeople of Lorhill from gathering for the festivities that marked the summer solstice. The celebration would carry on well into the night yet.

For now all matters of work for the adults, and schooling for the children were pushed to the wayside as all of the school houses and local shops were closed down for the day and it would seem as if the entirety of the town had turned out for the event - as well as those traveling from neighboring towns to attend the festival.

The main attraction of the festivities was that of dance, a local spectacle of some renown. Every year people traveled far and wide to perform and compete among the finest dancers of New Haven, but for those attending for more recreational reasons - or simply to enjoy themselves - several pavilions were situated through the center of Lorhill for music and dance.

It was here that Whisper found herself twirling through a throng of bodies moving in synch with one another to the tune of local folk music. Silvery white locks of hair, pale skin, and light blue eyes left the young albino girl looking almost ethereal next to the seemingly endless vibrancy of colors that surrounded her, but she had a liveliness and grace to her movements that oft drew the eye of the spectators that gathered around the pavilions.

As the song died down several people filtered off the pavilion and others climbed the steps to join in for the next dance. While the exchanges were taking place Whisper caught sight of Dayson Gorm, a local resident of Lorhill. She had seen him around before - as he was easily recognizable by his peculiarly blue hair - but she had never spoken to him.

She smiled coyly as she plucked a wreath of flowers hanging from one of the poles that held up the pavilion roof. Leaning down she placed the wreath on Dayson's head and offered her hands to him as she sought to entice him up onto the pavilion with her.

"Mommy! Look at the dancers!"

"One, two, three, four... One, two, three, four... twirl now, step to the right... or left... remember the moves!"

"What a bunch of idiocy! Why do I even come to this thing? I should stay at home."

Dayson could hear everyone's thoughts crowding his head. He was trying to keep a low profile in his own home town though he really didn't see the point. Everyone knew him. He was the Gorm's kid, the farmer, the good boy, the polite boy, the perfect son... His parents were well liked and well known, and so Dayson was no stranger. He wanted to avoid all of this, particularly because his powers weren't fully in his control. And now, people's thoughts and emotions were piling into his own body. He could feel multitudes of excitement and pleasure course through him.

He loved the festival though. He went every year. He was fascinated by it all. Loved the dancers, the singers, the musicians... It was perfect. The fact that most people were upbeat, friendly, having fun... okay so their was occasional trouble from alcohol and grumpiness, but for the most part it was the perfect show of how everywhere in the world and universe should be. There should be no evil. No upset. No fear.

For Dayson, everything should be good, everything should be happy and upbeat. Everything was black and white. No grey.

He was suddenly pulled from his thoughts when a woman placed a wreath on his head. Dayson's worrying thoughts left his mind and he smiled. One not to turn anything down because of his rudeness, Dayson took her hands and followed her onto the pavilion to see what happened next.

He was all for joining in on this years festivities.

It was a new day.

Dayson watched in fascination as everyone made their way around the capital doing their own thing. He didn't have anything to do himself except for exploring the capital that he'd come to work in. His grey eyes staring around the area in awe. Lorhill was nothing like this. Dayson had never seen anything like this. He came from a small community that were all about looking after each other and their environment. This was a big city. It was bigger than anything he'd ever seen. He was wearing jeans and a black tshirt.

And he loved it.

The only problem with being here was that it was bigger than anywhere he'd ever been. As a telepath and empath that didn't have a complete grip on his powers, he tried to stay out of crowded areas but in the city that was impossible. He was also helping that on the other hand, it would help him learn control.

It hadn't so far. Not only could he feel his happiness, he was hearing and feeling numerous thoughts and emotions from others. He couldn't quite decipher between everyone's and link them to an individual in the plaza, and it was getting so busy and chaotic outside and inside his head that he was struggling to find what his feelings were about here. They were swallowed up by everyone else.

He stuck out like a sore thumb here in the capital. People - mostly kids - had commented on his blue hair and purple freckles against his pale skin. He finally arrived at the fountain where the grand status Atlas stood. Dayson looked at it in fascination before looking around the area. Maybe it was time to move on and clear his head.

The Plaza was just like any other place. There were people dressed in expensive suits who hurried along to their appointments. And then there were those who wore every piece of clothing they owned pushing metal carts stolen from grocery stores. Hawke had only seen one of those but in a city so large he assumed there were more out there. As he watched Hawke began to notice that people were of two extremes: really rich or really damn poor. There wasn't too much who seemed to be stuck in the middle.

Hawke's eyes were diverted as a woman in a sleek, form-fitting, and red dress walked by. She had legs for miles and an ass you could crack walnuts on. The crowded Plaza seemed to part like the Red Sea for her and it was no wonder why. That woman was the most gorgeous thing that Hawke's eyes had landed on in a long time. In a vain, lustful, and materialistic world beauty always instantly got disgusting amounts of respect. Hawke didn't respect her but damned if he still wasn't a man with working parts!

He leaned forward to get a better view of the woman walking away. She disappeared behind a young man with shocking blue hair and pale skin. Hawke cursed under his breath at his luck and glared at the guy that interrupted his eye candy session.

What in the world is up with that hair, Hawke thought to himself. It looks like that guy got in a fight with a peroxide bottle and then got jumped by a few highlighter markers as the follow up. Poor guy is probably some teen trying to impress all his rebel friends with his blue hair. Yes, you just scream 'I'm so cool'. I want another cigarette but as soon as I open the pack he's gonna come over here and try to bum one off of me.

Hawke shook his head and reached into his front pocket. He pulled out the Pall Mall packet, took a cigarette out, and lit it.

Dayson was minding his own business until someone's thoughts pierced his mind. The reason he concentrated solely on those thoughts were because they were directly aimed at him. He glanced around and noticed that he was the only one with blue hair. So they weren't directing their thoughts to another blue haired person.

Next he had to figure out who he'd heard. There was only one person pulling out a cigarette at that point though. One person only that he could see and he saw they were sitting on the bench next to the fountain. Obviously something had just crawled out of his ass and put him into a foul mood, but it wasn't his fault that he was targeted by the man's foul mood. Maybe he could talk to the guy and fix the problem and get an apology at the same time.

"My hair has been this colour since the day I was born." Dayson commented once he'd walked over to the man. "And no, I won't be stealing a cigarette. Smoking happens to be bad for you. Causes all kinds of problems like cancers, respiratory diseases and heart problems. It's not good at all. I'm not a teenager either, you'll find. I'm 26." Dayson didn't give attitude. He was too good of a person to be snotty in return to someone.

"If you have a problem that is making you in a bad mood today, maybe talking about it will help. I'm good at listening, and helping. Maybe we can sort it out and then I can get an apology of your thoughts."

Dayson was probably going about this the wrong way. Not many people would be happy at the thought that someone was listening to their every thought. But Dayson couldn't help it. Admitting to it though, wasn't the brightest thing either.

Hawke just stared at the young man for a minute. His thoughts whirred and buzzed inside of his head. Apparently the blue-haired kid knew a thing or two. That or he could read his thoughts. Being near an empath wasn't exactly Hawke's cup of tea. He was hoping that maybe the kid was just messing with him. After all Hawke was a man that was as readable as Dr. Seuss. Most times it was easy guessing what was going on inside of his head.

"Yeah, well, I ain't got nothing to worry about. I can smoke all I want and not get cancer. I'm just one of the lucky ones I suppose, kid," Hawke said. Even though the two didn't seem more than a decade apart from each other, Hawke had an ancient look in his eyes. It was almost as if he were far older than what his body let on.

"You don't wanna hear my problems, neither. Best you just move along, kiddo," Hawke said. There was no possibility that the kid would understand anything that Hawke could dump on him.

Yeah, kid, let me tell you. My wife drowned my three children and then hung herself. I almost killed myself but went to church inside hoping to find an answer from God. Next thing you know I get gunned down by Red Coats. It's not easy dying and then waking up on a green lawn with three English men staring down at you with wings on their backs.

I hate the English.

"You're not English are you?" Hawke grumbled out before he dropped his smoke and ground it out. Last thing he needed was another damn Englishman bothering him or getting him into more trouble. Being an Angel wasn't what it was made out to be. It wasn't all white fluffy clouds and golden halos. Hawke indeed was in a foul mood but he had been in a foul mood since the 1700s in Northern America.

"As you can see, I'm no kid." Dayton told the man in front of him. He had no sign in his voice that he was angered or frustrated by being called a kid. "And I'm not moving along. You obviously need help. I want to hear your problems. I wouldn't have asked if I didn't." He added, taking a seat next to the man.

The next thing he knew was that he was feeling pretty damn depressed and he could hear the thoughts and feelings that were making him feel like it. "You're wife killing your kids then you is pretty grim. Have you talked to anyone about it? Seen a councellor? I heard they're pretty good in the city. Well, a flyer told me that I found on the ground." He told him. "And you've seen angels? I take it you died at some point then?"

Dayton laughed. "Do I sound English? I'm from Lorhill. A town there that's big on farming. Anyway, you should cheer up. You're alive. Be happy. Find someone else to settle down with and build a good life with them. Lorhill is a good place to do that." He told Hawke.

Because for Dayson, everything was black and white. Nothing couldn't be fixed. Everything had a solution. Everyone could be happy again. Even this guy that had mocked his colour of hair.

Hawke watched the kid sit down next to him and then he listened to what the boy said. He listened to every word. Damn kids thought that everything could be fixed, didn't they? Well it wasn't so easy.

"Have I seen angels," Hawke said with an amused tone. "I see them every damn day whether I want it or not, how 'bout that for an answer?" He saw one every time he stared into the mirror. Hawke looked out over the plaza while he fingered his box of cigarettes.

"I ain't going to settle down for a long time, kid. I married once and that's good enough for me," he said. Then with a need to change the topic of conversation, he asked the kid a question.

"So, Lorhill? Isn't that around here? I'm a tourist and I'll be travelling around a while. Is it a good place to visit?"

"Stop calling me kid, for a start. I'm twenty-six. I'm not a kid." Dayson frowned a little. "So you're kinda like me then. I hear peoples' thoughts and emotions. You see the dead. Not so different." He figured. That's what he assumed when Hawke said he saw them every day.

"Love comes when you least expect it." Dayton told him in reply to marriage and all of that. He noticed the change in topic. Dayson wasn't stupid. The man didn't want to talk about himself and that was fine with Dayson. Thoughts would come his way anyway so he'd know what was going on, unless the guy had been trained to put up mental blocks. Was that possible? Anything was.

"Lorhill is not far from here. Another planet on New Haven. In the Kreios System. Nice enough place. They have lots of festivals. Very friendly people looking after the enviroment and their neighbours. They're all good. I was born and raised there. My father's a farmer. Nice man. You should visit. When I was a boy..."

And Dayson started to talk about when he was a kid. About when he'd gone to school, played with friends... etc etc... Hawke was going to be in for a long story with the way he was talking about his home town.

Hawke had done it to himself. He had asked the kid to tell him about Lorhill to derail from the other subject. Now the kid was giving him every single detail of his life. Hawke was just about ready to rip his ears from his skull.

But at least he didn't have to hear about his wife and kids anymore.

"No, I don't see the dead, kid," Hawke said despite kid's wishes about not wanting to be called kid. He was a kid and that was that. There was no changing Hawke's perspective.

"And I'm not like you so you can nip that assumption in the bud right there. You're an empath. That's why you can pick things from my head, isn't it? I thought as much but I didn't want to assume," Hawke said as he looked over the blue-haired kid.

"Well you can stop poking around in there. There's not good stuff in there. Nothing you want to see unless you want nightmares, you hear me?"

The look Hawke gave Kid was serious and deep.

And then he thought one, single, word to see if Kid had left him alone upstairs.

Boobs.

"You said you see angels all the time..." Dayson told him. "That's pretty much seeing the dead."

Dayson grinned. "We both have abilities. That means we're in the same boat whether you like it or not. I've never met someone who has abilities like me." He continued to talk as if he knew Hawke better than the man himself. He assumed that it was just like what he had himself. But then again, Dayson hadn't met anyone like him that he knew of. Well, except for Whisper a few years back if he remembered correctly. He didn't know how to control his abilities and he didn't know much about other abilities either. So while it appeared arrogant of Dayson to assume, it was more from his naivety and lack of knowledge that made it appear as arrogance.

"Yeah, that's why I can see in your mind." Dayson told him. "I wasn't saying you're an empath. You're obviously not. You see the dead. And I can't just stop. It comes in and out itself. I don't know how to turn it on or off yet. It just continues."

Dayton dismissed the look Hawke was giving him, not realising it was because he wanted him out of his head. He wasn't doing anything harmful and he just confirmed that he couldn't stop it. "You're completely perverted! You can't just think of that in a busy street like this!" Dayton looked shocked that Hawke would do such a thing.

He glanced around making sure no others had heard what he'd heard. He didn't like the idea of weird looks from others. The fact that he couldn't even say boobs out loud... that begged the thought of was it because they were in public, Dayson didn't want to be heard because he was a woman, or was it because, in fact, he'd never actually been with a woman before?

Hawke was completely dumbfounded when a healthy young man was chastising him for thinking the words boobs. It should have been that Kid thought nothing but boobs. That's how Hawke had been when he was a young human, and he knew for a fact that most young men were that way too.

Oh Lord in Heaven Kid was a virgin. There was no other explanation. Hawke blew air from his lungs and settled back against the bench.

"I thought virgins didn't exist anymore," he said aloud. "But apparently they still do and I've found the last one."

"And, again, I don't see dead people. I said that I saw angels. Angels aren't dead," Hawke corrected. No angels weren't dead. Hawke wasn't dead. He was very much alive and still wondering where that woman in the red dress had disappeared to a while ago.

"Also, I am free to think whatever I want. I was given permission by the man upstairs," Hawke said as he pointed a finger to the sky. Heaven wasn't technically in the sky but humans tended to relate heaven to the sky for some reason. He did too when he had been alive.

"You can't talk about stuff like that in public...." Dayson scolded the man next to him. "And for your information, I'm not the last one." He added, practically confirming he was, indeed, a virgin. "Women are to be respected. And choosing a life partner is something special. And you have to pick the right one because you chose them for life. And you let them have your children. It's a big thing for them to allow you to do something like that. You don't rush those kinds of things. You take your time and choose the right girl. And you certainly don't discuss such matters in a public place with other people!"

His father had brought him up well. Instilling Dayson with manners of a proper gentleman. Unfortunately, his mother wasn't of the same personality and played away often, unbeknownst to the hardworking husband and their son.

"I never said you aren't free to think what you want. You can think whatever you want to think. Just not things that disrespect a woman. Like what you just thought." Dayson told him. "That's for private when you're not sitting in public. And I'm sure God would say the same thing."

And because Dayson kind of wanted the last word he added. "And angels are kind of dead people. They died to become angels." Or that's what he'd been told anyway.

The situation was becoming more and more hilarious and frustrating at the same time. It was like Kid had been sheltered his entire life and knew nothing of it first hand. Who had kept him hidden under a rock? The poor thing needed a crash course in life and Hawke was almost tempted to do it himself. There was just one thing keeping him back from doing it, though, and that had something to do with him being an angel.

But there was one thing Hawke could open Kid's eyes up to in a private way. Maybe that was why the two had met in the first place. After all, the Great Boss Man worked in mysterious ways.

I didn't die to become an angel, Kid. I was chosen and not so willingly. I just wanted to die and spend my eternal life with my children but I'm not allowed. Not yet. There are a few things I have to finish first before I can go home. So, no, we're not dead and we don't necessarily choose to become what we are, Hawke thought directly at Kid.

Hawke held up a finger to his lips to keep the kid quiet. It was a secret and had to be kept secret. Hawke didn't want anyone else knowing what or who he was. People always expected miracles to happen around angels. He didn't want a riot of believers coming to him with their sick and dying. It was depressing.

Dayson didn't understand. If God made you an angel, why couldn't he pick people that wanted to be angels, not one like Hawke that had thoughts which included not wanting to be an angel. It didn't make sense. Wasn't God supposed to be all nice? He did however understand the finger to the lips as he glanced at Hawke. The man wanted those thoughts to stay private and Dayson respected the man's wishes. He respected everyone's wishes.

Despite not been able to control who's thoughts he heard and what feelings they felt, Dayson never repeated to anyone anything. It was private. He knew enough to know that if the foot was on the other shoe, he wouldn't want another empath telling people things that he didn't want in public.

And Dayson was a good guy. He wouldn't do a bad thing to anyone. Unless it was because they'd done wrong and needed to pay for it. Like if he saw a friend do an unthinkable crime. He'd turn them in. It was black and white for Dayson. No grey.

"I'm keeping your thoughts to myself, so the least you can do for me is to stop calling me kid and to not bring up the topics that I dislike." He told the man next to him. Dayson figured everyone was like himself. Good people that would respect other peoples' wishes.

Plus, it was embarrassing for a man to be teased about the fact that he was a virgin. He knew that. He knew many men in the world tried and tested women. That wasn't Dayson. You found the woman for you and you stayed with her. That's what his father taught him and that's what he believed would happen to him, just like it had his father.

"Kid, you're giving me a headache," Hawke said. He was tired of being around the young dude. It wasn't that it wasn't a unpleasant meeting but it wasn't pleasant either. Hawke didn't do well with people. He was a loner type of guy. Crowds were not his thing even though technically Kid didn't count as making a crowd.

"Look, I'm sorry if I offended you by saying boobs inside my head," Hawke said as he rose from the bench. He rolled his eyes because he still could not believe that a young man even refused to think about jugs. Hawke reached out and ruffled Kid's hair like he was some older brother of the lad.

"You eaten anythin' lately, Kid?" Hawke asked. "I'm about to go get myself a bite to eat. You can tag along if you have nowhere else to be. Always better to have company. It makes the food sit better in your stomach."

"Maybe I'm giving you a headache because you haven't stopped calling me kid, yet." He told Hawke.

He saw the man get up from the bench and figured that that headache must be too much for the man and he was leaving. Well, that was rather rude. What he didn't expect was for was Hawke to then ruffle his hair and Dayson put his hands and arms into a defensive move, as if blocking off an attack and leaning back into the bench. He was no way ever going to win a fight either.

Not a fighter and a virgin.

"Why'd you do that?" He frowned once he realised he wasn't getting attacked by the angel.

He then asked about food and Dayson shrugged. "I haven't eaten yet. As long as you don't mess up my hair again, I'll come and eat." Dayson was definitely quite the unusual fellow.

With that he stood up, making sure his hair was okay before following the man he'd just met. He was also too trusting. The man had insulted him and messed with his hair yet he was following the man. Though he wasn't sure if the man was bad or not, Dayson's philosophy was that everyone was good until proven bad. He trusted everyone until they gave him a reason not to.

And despite everything, Hawke was an angel.

There was no mistaking the way Kid had cringed into the bench. It was a defensive reflex as is Kid was used to taking a beating or preparing for one. That detail didn't sit well into Hawke's stomach. No one should ever feel powerless. For a moment the angel wondered if Kid was his assignment.

There was always a precipice in a human's life. It was a point they reached that changed their lives forever. It either went really good or really bad. An angel's job was to protect that precipice and help influence a soul down the right path. That was their job. That was Hawke's job. And even though Hawke wasn't exactly the cookie-cutter angel type seeing as he was rough around the edges, he was damned good at his job.

Confusion rolled off of Hawke like heat from a radiator. There was a good chance Kid was his assignment but then again there was a good chance that he wasn't. Hawke had missed the mark before.

"So, tell me more about you, Kid," Hawke said as he walked them down the sidewalk. He really didn't know where he was going but there was more than a good chance to bump into some sort of place to eat. All he had to do was pretend he knew where he was going. All the while as the man's brown eyes searched around foreign words for something recognizable, he listened to Kid speak.

Dayson's father had never taught him to fight. He'd never enrolled him in self defense classes. He'd never taught him to defend himself. Instead, his approach was to talk. To simply talk and try to find a solution. It worked on Lorhill because most of it's inhabitants didn't seem to want a fight of any kind. But elsewhere it probably wasn't the best solution. It was probably going to cause more trouble if anything. Because of Dayson's approach of everything can be solved and fixed. Everything is black and white.

"Like I said before. I'm from Lorhill. I have a mother and a father. I'm an empath and telepath. I'm traveling at the moment because I want to see the world. My father disagrees, thinks I should stay on Lorhill and help him look after the farm, but my mother encouraged me." He grinned. "It's a good place. But so is this one. I'm looking for work of some sort here, different to farming. My father's also warned me against running into the bad of a big city. Says that it's not like Lorhill. There is more bad apparently."

He paused for a moment, still following Hawke though. "And he's right I guess. The city is nothing like Lorhill. But this is the capital. I haven't run into the bad yet. If I do I'll let them know and the authorities. They can't just get away with being bad." He told Hawke.

"But yeah, I'm looking for a job, know of any?" Dayson asked Hawke.

Kid didn't sound much like someone that needed divine intervention in his life. It sounded pretty normal aside from the virgin detail and the obvious inability to defend himself. Kid was just another schmo living out his numbered days. Maybe the Englishmen had really allowed him a vacation. Hawke really doubted it.

I have a bloody brilliant idea! Bartholomew had said. Shall we send you on a vacation? You look like you need a vacation, or a cup of tea.

"Stupid Archangels," Hawke breathed beneath his breath. He scratched at the back of his head and then looked down at the chattering Kid.

"Did you tell me your name, kid? I can't remember if you did. You can just call me Hawke, or Jay," Hawke said. Neither was his real name but it was the one he used while moseying around in the mortal realms. After he shoved his hands into his pockets, something caught Hawke's eye.

"I'm not qualified to work in this area seeing as I'm just a tourist but I'm pretty sure that's a Help Wanted sign right there," Hawke said, interrupting whatever Kid was saying. The angel pointed at the sign. It was hanging in a small diner that appeared to be a run down hole-in-the-wall type deal.
